8 Best Spas in Chicago for When You Need an Indoor Escape | Condé Nast Traveler

"All Cowshed spas around the globe began with a simple mission: to offer a bit of country calm into those leading busy, on-the-go lives. The Midwest location, found on the ground level of Soho House Chicago , showcases a full self-care lineup, from massages and facials to manicures and pedicures. When guests enter (from the lobby level’s bustling Allis Bar), they’re in a relaxing space of reclaimed Midwestern barn wood and plush furniture, neutral colors, and dim lighting. Therapists customize signature services to meet client needs (whether that be to relax or address specific skin concerns). Just one example is the Soho Skin 24/7 Facial, a brightening facial that energizes and plumps skin with a natural, hydrated glow using products from Soho Skin (Soho House’s new vegan, cruelty-free skincare line). That range is in addition to the brand’s already beloved Cowshed products, which come in the form of massage oils (found in treatment rooms), along with shower gels, hand wash, and body lotion (found throughout the locker rooms)." - Nicole Schnitzler

"This British import, located inside the Soho House in Chicago's buzzy West Loop, offers extraordinarily comfy treatment chairs and farmhouse vibes. It's particularly popular for its indulgent manis and pedis (60 and 75 minutes, respectively): Each of the chairs features its own TV and freshly brewed tea served in a teapot is available upon request. There are only five treatment rooms, but they'll do everything from facials (some with SkinCeuticals products) to body wraps, scrubs, and deep tissue massages. "

Just had the most relaxing day at Cowshed Spa in the West Loop, and it was worth every penny. Dropped about $190 on the Cowgroom Indulgent treatment, which included a spearmint salt scrub, shoulder massage, facial, chamomile-and-rose infused brow shaping, and my choice of a mani or pedi . The rustic-chic vibe, with Midwestern barn wood and crystal chandeliers, made the space feel cozy yet upscale . The staff was super friendly and attentive, making sure I was comfortable throughout the entire experience. I even enjoyed some avocado toast and a glass of wine from The Allis during my treatment . If you're looking to treat yourself or someone special, this spot is a must-visit.

Walked in with fresh and bright skin and well maintained eyebrows which had been tinted. Specifically asked them to be really careful with them as I had events on for the week. Walked out with dull skin and with the tint and shape ruined. Really upset as you hope to leave a facial looking refreshed and glowing… and also with my eyebrows.

Very relaxing experience. Ordered drinks upon checking in. Waited in a separate lounge type room near the locker area. The space was clean. I'm very surprised and impressed that the Essie nail polish looks like gel. Highly recommend!

I had the best knot busting massage by Nicole last night. I have had these knots buried in the top of my traps for 36 years and another in my calf for 7 years. Nicole said she can get rid of them. Doubtful was I, as I have tried everyone and everything to rid myself of the pain over many decades. Then I started hearing these strange popping noises. She said, I got them all! She gently got them to release with a sound while doing it! I am so grateful, I can't even tell you. She is truly a master at removing knots in the muscle tissues. Highly recommend. Bravo!

Ask for the Dazzle Dry manicure. Amazing!! It’s been over a week and not a chip or a scratch; and the polish will come off with regular nail polish remover. Best manicure I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend!! The staff were all super friendly, and it’s a nice space as well!

This review is for massage services only. I have been a member at Soho House since 2014 and going to Cowshed Spa. I had the best massage of my entire life this last weekend with Nicole. I've been in pain for months and trying different massages and ways to feel better. Nicole assessed my back and found the knot that was underneath my shoulder blade. She assured me that had a technique that could help me. She was right. I feel like a brand new person and cannot recommend her enough.

Had a new massage therapist and Regina hit all the right spots. Very communicative and understanding when my feet made me giggle. She stretched my shoulders and made me feel at least an inch taller. We’ve had many massages at Cowshed over the last few years and have our favorites… Regina will be on the short list for my next request.

"I have had two pedicures at this spa that were absolutely wonderful. The technicians not only provided excellent service but were also very pleasant, clearly showing their expertise and dedication to their craft. Unfortunately, my overall experience has been marred by significant issues with the management and their approach to customer service. This morning marked the third time my appointment was canceled at the last minute—within 10 minutes of the scheduled start time, despite having booked it more than two weeks in advance, completed all necessary paperwork, and confirmed the appointment beforehand. The first two cancellations occurred while I was already en route in a rideshare, and today, I arrived 10 minutes early only to find out that the technician was unavailable. Adding to the frustration, I was asked if this was my first visit, which suggests a lack of attention to my customer history. Would it really take the sting of being told that an appointment was canceled if it were my first visit? Although the management offered a complimentary visit next time and mentioned other available services, these gestures do not fully compensate for the recurring inconvenience and poor handling of scheduling. This particular visit was a special treat for myself as away of celebrating a successful Spring quarter since I am a graduate school student. In conclusion, while the quality of the actual pedicures is commendable, the management's repeated last-minute cancellations and overall lack of organization have significantly impacted my satisfaction. I am hesitant to return, even with the offer of a complimentary service, unless there are clear improvements in how appointments are managed. Future patrons should be aware of these potential scheduling issues when planning their visit.

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite spa in the city and where I always ask my husband to send me when he wants to dote on me. He booked me for a facial when I was 9 months pregnant and beyond miserable. i'd never had one before and was pleasantly surprised at how relaxing it was and how great I felt afterwards! I didn't know my skin could look so good. i gave birth THE NEXT DAY and everyone commented on how amazing I look in photos from literally seconds after birthing a human. I keep telling people that all credit needs to go to Cowshed and their staff for my glowing postpartum looks!

Yelp
OHHHHHH MY GAWD! Yassss!!!!!! Listen, Cowshed made a believer out of me! I was brought here by my girlfriend for my birthday. I am not one for allowing people to touch me. It took a hot second for me to warm up to everything. My girlfriend's encouragement and the green tea helped! So it should really matter when I say that the pedicure was fantastic. I give my pedicurist high marks because the cuticle push is uncomfortable for me, but she was gentle. I made it through. My feet and skin are sooooo soft! I even Shazammed some of the songs playing in the background because it was a total vibe. And THEN THERE WAS THE MASSAGE!!!!!! GAWD!!!!!!!!!! It was the best experience I've ever had. The men's lounge has everything one could ever need to prepare for the massage. The masseuse gives the option of different aromatic scents. She did a short 3-minute consultation to gauge my comfort level, and even asked if I prefer her to spend more time on a specific part of my anatomy. I walked out feeling Heavenly! THANKS TO MANAGEMENT FOR THE COMPLIMENTARY BIRTHDAY CHAMPAGNE!

Myisha L.

Yelp
A lovely experience and that's not even including the massage!! The massage was very therapeutic and serene. If I lived closer, I'd definitely frequent cowshed often just to experience entire atmosphere & services offered.

Yelp
I have been going to Jaron since 2015 and has been an amazing friend and barber. He is professional and always does his job with a friendly smile. He is also a great listener. Service at cowshed is a seamless process. Cowshed is conveniently located in the west loop which is close to my work office for a lunchtime cut. If you are looking for a barber, look no further than Jaron.

Cole B.

Yelp
Hair Master Extraordinaire! Jaron at Cowshed is an absolute hair master extraordinaire! He has a rare talent for men's haircuts. Whether it's a classic style or a trendy look, he's an expert with clippers as well as scissors; he always delivers perfection. He takes the time to understand your preferences early on, and then he tailors the haircut to your unique face shape and hair type. All of this is coupled with friendliness and professionalism. For the ultimate men's haircut experience, look no further than Jaron at Cowshed. He's a true hair artist.

Yelp
Truly a tedious ordeal to apply for the membership; was redirected about 5 times within my email & browser, taken to a very ambiguous menu with needlessly vague descriptions of benefits defining each soho membership in the catalog...and no prices. Listen, it's a spa booking; you're not protecting Pentagon analytics. I'm not applying for a mortgage. Most people fully expect to drop several Benjamins when they're looking to book a 90 min Massage, hydrofacial and mani/pedi--no need to make it so exhausting to book...all for some sad attempt at...phony prestige? Wasting my damn time. I'm wasting more time here in the hopes that others will spare themselves...

Yelp
I had originally made a reservation but needed to cancel it due to the timing but my review is based on the customer service on the phone. Wonderfully friendly individual who was more than helpful cancelling things for me and just so pleasant. I look forward to when I can reschedule to actually come in.

Yelp
Cow Shed Spa Chicago is a part of my weekly routine! I really look forward to my weekly experience there seeing the wonderfully professional and courteous staff like Tiffany and Efie who greet you warmly upon entry through to Jaron who has to be one of the best barbers in the city of Chicago and beyond. I travel often for professional and personal endeavors. I often can't wait to return to Chicago to be cut by him. He takes his profession very seriously and it shows by of his technique, well versed knowledge of his craft, professional well studied thoughtful products and equipment. I can't say enough about him or Cow Shed Spa Chicago. Treat yourself! You deserve it!

Lucy C.

Yelp
But happen chance, I walked into Cowshed Spa a few years ago. We were living in the West Loop, quite literally up the street from Soho House, and I needed a haircut. That's when I met Jaron, the resident barber there. The experience was truly a great one from the moment I sat down on his chair. From the easy conversation to the haircut I walked out with, the service was simply the best. Today, my wife and I no longer live in the West Loop, but I still go back to Cowshed Spa to see Jaron every time I need a haircut. It's always worth the trip, and then some.

Yelp
Love this place. I've been here for pedicures and most recently a facial. The pedicures are on the expensive side but they are worth the splurge when you need to treat yourself. They offer you a choice of drinks, I always get their ginger tea, because it's Rare Tea Cellars and served in the cutest teapot and cup. Note that in the winter they'll cover your foot with a greased up sandwich bag to prevent your toenails from smudging in your shoes, which makes your feet crazy slippery, which makes walking around the West Loop real fun. My facial with Alina was amazing. I booked the Cowshed facial but she will still adjust based on your skin needs. She used this hi-frequency buzzing thing on my breakouts and I swear they were almost gone the next day. Also the facial massage she gave me was so good. My face felt more firm and less puffy the next day. Their treatment beds are also super comfortable. They are heated and the leg area is elevated, instead of of them just adding a leg pillow under your knees. The blankets are super soft too. The steam plus the cozy blankets and the heated bed made me snug as a bug in a rug, I wanted to stay forever. With the facial you get a choice of a scalp, hand or foot massage. So relaxing!

Sam F.

Yelp
Jaron makes your head (hair) better, your head (mindset) better, & your head (self-image) better. All for the price of a haircut. C'mon, what could be better?

Aaron C.

Yelp
Jaron as a barber is amazing. I always get great service and the process of securing a reservation is always seamless. It's always a great experience, from the customer service to the cleanliness and politeness of all the workers, including Jaron. The convenience, reliability and my satisfaction of my haircuts keep me from wanting to go anywhere else.

Thomas L.

Yelp
Jaron has been cutting my hair for nearly 6 years! He is absolutely the best. Super consistent, clean, and professional cut. Super chill and relaxing vibe. 10/10!!

Yelp
It's beautiful here. I originally gave three stars because I haven't tried most of the services and the aesthetic is nice, but I brought it two because I've had a lasting issue from the service provider. Unfortunately out of the three times I've been here, for lash tinting, the second time the practitioner burned my eye lids with the way she did the application. I've never had this reaction or experience before. I shouldn't have let her try again after the first go around and flare up, but she tried a second time in the same sitting and it was beyond painful. I had a reaction of a rash on my eyelids after that of course. A month and a half later, eyelids calm, I made an appointment with the first person I had ever gone to there. The application was fine but I now for three afterwards have been having rashes on my eyelids. The dermatologist has said it was from the first time around and now it's an irritant. The spa is beautiful. The people are nice. Don't do the lash tinting. I have long lasting physical inflammation from it now. Find another place.

Yelp
I headed over for a spa day with my best friend to celebrate her birthday. When I reserved our mani pedis I was told they would offer us some bubbly for her special day. When arrived that did not happen. That was disappointing. We had a great time nonetheless. Our mani pedis were delightful, and beautifully done. Ambiance is calm and very spa like. I'm happy with the over all service, trusting that little details will be taken care of is lost. Otherwise I would have rated 5-stars. This lack of follow thru is a negative for me. However, if asked, will I return....yes! Ladies that took care of my friend and I made it worth while. I'd be happy to give another chance.

Yelp
One of my "hobbies" is checking out different spas around the city and suburbs to see what they are like. I decided to visit Cowshed Spa for my birthday recently. There are 3 things that attracted me to this spa: 1. The location 2. The positive reviews 3. The fact that I could grab lunch at one of the restaurants upstairs If possible, you definitely want to come here on your birthday. They give you a free glass of prosecco. Every inch of the space is extremely clean. I also appreciated how sanitary the pedicure area was. They place a liner over the pedicure bowl and keep the surrounding area tidy. The technician used a motorized heel buffer to help soften up my heels. The pedicure went pretty well. To be honest, I rarely spend more than $40 on a pedicure, so spending $60 before tip was more of a splurge for me (They also have an $80 one that includes a scalp and shoulder massage). Even though this spa has similar pricing to other spa's in Chicago, it does not have some of the same "extras" that some of them do. The relaxation area is within the locker room/bathroom, so it isn't that relaxing due to people coming in and out. There also isn't a pool or fitness area either. I knew that this place wasn't a full amenity spa before coming, but I just want to make sure that others know what to expect of the experience.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my visit to Cowshed spa. I had the Ultimate pedicure and it was pretty ultimate. I was a bit confused upon arrival as it was my first visit and I think it was assumed that I had been there before...I indicated that I was new and I would have thought I'd get a bit more info (I had to ask where the bathrooms were)... but they were very nice when I asked for help. The pedicure itself is luxurious. Very cozy. You can watch tv, read a book, etc all in your nice comfy (and giant) chair. At first I thought the arm cushions were sort of oddly placed but quickly forgot about that when I started leaning back and relaxing. My toes were well taken care of - I opted not for the little machine that smoothes your feet - but for the normal files. This is better for my ticklish feet and they didn't seem to mind at all. I really enjoyed my head, shoulder, arm massage as well as a nice leg/foot massage. The technician was nice, but not chatty (totally fine with me), but she also recommended a great cream for my dry feet (which is sadly out of stock everywhere....). I liked that she was helpful but not overbearing about it. The space is relaxing. Wood, muted colors. The tea service is adorable and well worth getting just because it's served in such a pretty way (I had the ginger tea-spicy but good). If you want a cocktail/drink/etc you may have to ask for it. I was never asked after I did request a menu but I was so relaxed and resting that I didn't even want it until my toes were drying (with my tea service). A great spot for an indulgent pedicure. Not a quick spot to run at lunch, but good for a treat. Super nice staff and pricy but good for a special day!

Yelp
I had an absolutely wonderful massage with Riley. I did the 90 minute Bespoke body therapy. We went with dry brushing and the massage to follow. She used the perfect amount of pressure and really listened to my body. All staff was very friendly and accommodating. The facility is gorgeous. Products are all great quality. My skin feels amazing. Don't hesitate to book. I can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Christine R.

Yelp
I'll start by saying the amenities here are extremely nice. They give you a body pillow to hold, you get your own personal tv, etc. the salon is extremely clean and serene. I thought the girl doing my pedi did a good job, however the massage portion and scraping of the bottom of my feet was kind of lacking . For how expensive the pedicure is here ($60), i was left with a little bit to be desired . I would come back if someone got me it as a gift , but I can't say I'm hooked as much as I thought I would be. Their men's salon looks very nice though so I am thinking of buying my husband a haircut / shave there. It's similarly priced to state street barbers, Floyd's , etc.

C L.

Yelp
Excellent pedicure and massage. I really enjoyed working with Lourdes. My only criticism is that it's not a full amenities for the price. Receptionist was a little unpleasant but overall an excellent experience
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
My husband booked me services here for an anniversary gift. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. I got a massage and a mani pedi. Ebony did my mani pedi and she was wonderful. She even brought me a piece of cake after going on and on about how good the chocolate cake is. My only complaint is that I'm not sure what brand of nail polish they use but it started chipping by the next morning. It has only been three days and the polish is peeling off in big pieces. My one nail peeled off in one giant piece.

Yelp
Took my best friend for her special golden birthday and this was the perfect place to treat my best friend like the queen she is! The staff was so beyond amazing and helpful even from the moment of booking the appointment, calling in, checking in and our nail techs! Our nail techs were Bebe and Tiara. They both were friendly and made it feel like we were all long time friends! I had Bebe and as soon as she greeted me and I told her it was my best friends birthday she gave us a complimentary Prosecco. Bebe was such a great nail tech, she works very efficiently and cleans the nails really well! The pressure she did for my foot/leg massage was perfect. I scheduled an appointment for two Cowshed pedicures which is 60 minutes. One appointment was 3:15 the other at 3:30. 15 minutes difference isn't a big deal but when we got there they ended up taking us both at the same time and we sat right next to each other! The chairs are beautiful and comfy to sit and relax while the magic happens. They place a large V pillow over your lap which I wasn't sure what it was for since we were doing pedicures but it was so nice to sit back relax and just chill with your arms. Everything is a very relaxed at home feeling. For thehe 60 minute pedicure, they file and do cuticle tidy, buffing, exfoliation, foot and leg massage. The electric filer they use on your feet if you have dead skin is AMAZING! If your ticklish let your nail tech know but honestly it felt so good to me i was even falling asleep. I also never had an electric filer done before so I'm in awe with how good it felt and how good my foot feels after. Anyways, they offer a full range of treatments from manicures and pedicures to facials and body therapie. Such a great experience, can't wait to come back. Honesty can't thank the staff enough for making her birthday and this experience so much more special. I

Yelp
Edit: I'm back with 2 more stars. I'm glad I wrote my last review because the manager reached out and scheduled another massage on the house to make it right. This massage was MUCH better. I don't feel like she neglected any area and I definitely felt relaxed when I left. It was still a strange massage - the therapist would put pressure on certain points on my back and then just pulse and have me take a few deep breaths. It was strange. So while this experience was much better, I can't give 5 stars because I've had 5 star massages and I don't think this was it.
google avatar

Yelp
BEST facial, massage, treatments in Chicago. Everything is SUPER gentle, the rooms are unimaginably comfy & massages are super relaxing. If I could only go here for the rest of my life I would!

Yelp
Would have been five stars had the service at point of sale have been classier. Explanation: spent $235 pre-gratuity on a massage and facial for my girlfriend. Upon arriving, the employee at the desk immediately asked me if I wanted to leave the standard 15-20 percent tip on my card. This is before services had been rendered. About an hour and a half later, I went to the desk to settle the bill. She asked the same question again. I told her I'd be fine calculating the tip. At this point I still haven't seen my girlfriend to gauge the service and the sales person is now asking if I need a calculator... I have been blessed to come from a somewhat affluent family on the Northshore, in addition to having worked in the service industry on and off for close to a decade. I'm well-aware of tipping etiquette. An extremely low-class move to push gratuity at all, let alone that aggressively. Instead of leaving happily and contemplating my next visit, I left with a bitter taste in my mouth, considering different options for the next time I treat my significant other to the equivalent of a car payment.

Yelp
BITSSSSSHHHH!!!!! This place is nice gurl! We sat at the bar in SoHo house prior to our pedis (ma and I), the cocktail the gal made me was well worth the $14. They didn't have raspberry vodka so she made it! Wa-bammmm! It was so good I can drink the basic shit anymore! The waiting room is kinda boring, but clean and offers things to buy. They ran 10 min late so they offered to get us a glass of wine (good shit too) AND, it was on the house! Wa-what!?!? Das right gurl! 10 min late and booze for ma and I, no complaints. The pedi was the best I have ever had (we got the ultimate) and it's WELL worth the money! I wanna try other services cuz this place is a rich persons heaven, on a middle class budget! 6 stars bitsssshhhhes!

Yelp
Yeah, this wasn't what I expected. I hope my boyfriend didn't pay a lot for this :/ I was misled in the service I thought I would receive. I came in with a bit of gel polish on my toes which I can usually get removed at any other salon. Edit: Supposedly there was a disclosure that my boyfriend was supposed to get with reserving the service. After we talked to the manager he checked, there was NO notification of that. My boyfriend doesn't know a lot about nails but he couldn't find any notice regarding this... So he got gipped. I feel bad because he just wanted to plan something special for me.

Yelp
I love Cowshed Spa. The Ultimate Pedicure is absolutely phenomenal. It includes a scalp massage and aroma therapy. The staff is always warm, accommodating and friendly. They go above and beyond to make sure the customer is happy and well taken care of. I was disappointed that they stopped serving food because of COVID (completely understandable due to the global pandemic) but beautiful Rachel made sure I had snacks. I'm 9 months pregnant and I couldn't be happier with this Spa. I will always come back and I'm so glad they are open again!
google avatar

Hissyfit S.

Yelp
I badly needed both a massage and a pedicure but my budget only allowed for one. I booked the Ultimate Pedicure and it was the perfect blend of both! First, everyone here is so friendly and welcoming! Grab a drink upstairs at The Allis and bring it with you - or they'll give you water, tea or coffee gratis when you check in. They had an excellent choice of colors. The treatment started with a soak then Denise went to work on my much-neglected feet (I was honestly ashamed at how bad they'd gotten). She did the usual filing and cuticle clean up, then used an electric file on my heels. I'd never had someone use that before and my heels now feel baby soft. Next, there was a scrub on my feet and calves, very invigorating. She applied a mask to my feet then gave me a 15 min shoulder and scalp massage that had me zoned out and blissful. Then she massaged my feet and calves before applying polish. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment with Denise - she is so friendly and did such a wonderful job of making me feel welcome and relaxed. That's definitely the vibe here, attentive and friendly, not stuffy. I booked my next appointment on the way out the door, which I rarely do, but I want to to back asap.

Yelp
I went to Cowshed because I received a gift card. I signed up for a mani-pedi. It was a wonderful experience, very relaxing , and I certainly felt pampered. The two beauticians I had - Yasmin and Adriana , were fabulous, very sweet, considerate, and professional. Now the things that were less than stellar: 1. the beautiful nail polish on my fingernails chipped the next day , and 2 days later it also chipped on my toenails. I appreciate that they use all natural products .....but I wish it lasted longer especially for a very steep price. 2. they have several TVs running different shows, which is great. However , they had the show Botched on which is all about plastic surgery gone wrong and redone....it felt inappropriate since the spa is AL natural :) just a poor choice I guess.

Laura B.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience at Cowshed. Let me first say that my massage was amazing! The 90 minute deep tissue left me feeling much more relaxed, limber and open! The staff was very welcoming and the facilities were clean and inviting. I really enjoyed the body wash and lotion they had in the women's locker room. :) My only caution (not complaint) is that if you're expecting the full spa experience where you can spend half the day relaxing (I.e. sauna, steam room, hot tub, etc...) then Cowshed will miss the mark but if you're looking for a way to destress and pamper yourself then you'll be extremely pleased!
google avatar

Karen P.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! I try to come for my birthday as a treat to myself. The place smells amazing. The staff is so sweet and kind and the facility is spotless with a relaxing environment. There's an area for you to place your items in a locker (which comes with a lock) and you're provide with a robe and flip-flops. I have to use all hypoallergenic products because of my allergies and I have yet to have a reaction to their products. The workers really listen to your needs, target your problem area, and make sure you leave satisfied. I would highly recommend this place they're amazing.
google avatar

Sam D.

Yelp
Every single person that works there was so friendly and kind and always smiling. I needed a little pick me up post massage and ore dinner, the sweet girls ran upstairs and got me a nice cup of java. Very impressed. My massage therapist was amazing and I'll be back soon!!

Yelp
Rustic chic decor and cozy atmosphere. I AM IN LOVE! I decided to treat myself to a spa service for my "winter feet" and I am more than happy with the results! I did a Google search for places in Chicago that focuses on removing dead skin due to "winter feet" and the Cowshed spa was the only one I found. After a visit to the website and reading the previous yelp reviews I decided to just pull the trigger. I was concerned about the chairs and if they would be comfortable to relax in. They were awesome! They also give you a "B-Pillow" for you lap that is perfect for reading a book or magazine. My technician was fabulous! (I am terrible with names and kicking myself because I can't recall it at the moment) When I explained the my feet were terrible she was excited for the challenge, lol. She was very nice and thorough throughout the whole service. The pedicure itself was AMAZING! I am VERY particular about my nails and always wary to try a new salon but, as I've said, I was beyond pleased. They use an electric file for calluses and the technician took her time and was very thorough going over my feet at least four times. A mask is then applied and set for 10 minutes before being removed with a nice warm towel. The polish was quick but precise and although I usually like 2-3 coats the one coat is classy and perfect. I highly recommend and will be back for another pedicure and to try the other services. I've been on Yelp forever but HAVE NEVER posted feedback so it's saying a lot that this was my first. BTW, Very cute for a large party.

Yelp
I've really enjoyed my experience at Cowshed Spa. Cowshed Spa is located in the SoHo House which is both a hotel and member-based club but you do not have to be a member to take advantage of the services at the spa. I've been twice for a speedy pedicure and have been very happy with both trips. The spa has a trendy, yet cozy vibe with muted wood, white accents and comfortable furniture and they have about 8 chairs available at a time. The technicians are always friendly and polite and will adjust to your preferences. They aren't overly talkative if you aren't up for conversation. It can be a bit confusing when you first arrive during your first appointment but staff is pretty helpful when you ask for direction. They offer complimentary tea and coffee or you can get Prosecco or other cocktails for an additional fee. Time slots for services can fill up rather quickly so it's best to schedule in advance especially if you are wanting to go with another person. Their is a lounge and dining area on the main floor of the SoHo house which is a great spot to grab some food or a drink before or after the spa (however, I've had mixed experiences doing this). SoHo house also offers valet parking which can be incredibly helpful since there isn't a lot of available street parking in the area (most spots are reserved for valet parking for restaurants in the area). I will definitely be going back to Cowshed Spa in the near future and look forward to trying some other services.

Yelp
First time to Cowshed yesterday, had a great experience with waxing and a manicure. I got my eyebrows and the ultimate manicure. Their prices are very reasonable. Staff is nice and welcoming. I'll be back next week for a pedicure!

Yelp
Two weeks ago I booked a speedy Mani and Reflexology I enjoyed the service so much that I added on (while there) a speedy pedicure and a massage. I'm so glad I had the foresight to use the valet for my cat. I spent about four hours there. Valencia perfectly manicured my nails in a cozy oversized leather chair with a comfy lap pillow similar to a boppy. I want one of these!! Every person there left seemed to leave more relaxed than when they arrived. After my Mani, I had a reflexology session with John. I hadn't had this service before and wanted to try something new. The massage rooms are spacious. The shower / bathroom is well appointed and offers a lovely ams cozy sitting area. My masseuse John, escorted me through the hall to the assigned room. John has strong, experienced hands. After a foot workout, revealing some back pain issues (that I had not mentioned but he noted because of areas of tension in my foot) I added a massage directly after. Heaven!! I was looking for an invigorating massage and I got it. John asked about my preferences in scents, oil or lotion, and even added heat to my feet during the back massage. He also added a hot towel because I had so many knots to work out. It was amazing. Following I rested a little before getting up. John patiently waited and brought me a bottle of water. Needed it! I made my way back to where I started and ended with a flawless pedicure. Soooo I booked for two weeks later to get reflexology, massage, polish change and an ultimate pedicure.

Yelp
Cowshed Spa is amazing. I have lots of love for this place! First off, this is the only Cowshed location that is open to the public i.e. Non members of Soho House. Naturally, the spa uses Cowshed products from the UK. I've tried the Cowshed Manicure (45 mins) and Cowshed Pedicure (60 mins) and they're absolutely pampering. The scent of the sea salt scrub and moisturizer are lovely. You sit on a very comfy armchair and they give you large pillow to rest your arms and elbows. Your soak your feet in a cute white enamel bucket. They use two brands of nail polish: Cheeky and Essie. Cheeky is a UK brand. I was told that when the spa opened, the Cowshed Spa team from the UK came over to train the employees so that there's consistency in service across locations. I'm already planning on returning for the other services- massage and facial.

Yelp
I loved my ultimate pedicure with Lourdes! I felt very pampered. I especially liked the choice of essential oils for the scalp massage. Also, pro tip, when it says complimentary coffee, it's amazing coffee - I got a cappuccino that was delicious and clearly made by hand. And it came with a lovely little biscuit. I would have preferred more shoulder massage and less scalp massage, so I'll know for next time to request that. Foot massage was nice although not the best I've ever had. But I enjoyed it plenty and would return for the same service again.

Yelp
I just got out of my cowshed facial with Ashley. Booking online for a last minute appointment was so easy! The spa is not very clearly designated but the front staff at the Soho house will point you to the stairs. Ashley and I had a little chat before hand where we went over what products I use and she is very knowledgeable about the products that I was using. The whole facial was very relaxing. Ashley is definitely good at extractions, I didn't feel a thing! I can't wait to come back to see Ashley for my next facial! Tip: they have specials on Weds! They also offer wine, but I though 10:15 might be a little early.

Yelp
Rubbish service. Require credit card to hold your reservation (which is fine) however in the extreme case of going to the emergency room and being unable to make the appointment (even though you give them a courtesy call a few hours in advance) your card will still be charged the full amount. Not worth the money, would rather go anywhere else.

Yelp
My favorite spa in Chicago. The only place I'll get my manicure and pedicures. They last forever. Wednesday includes free wine.

Yelp
Amazing pedicures - would recommend. Can't wait for them to serve beverages again (which was put on pause due to COVID-19.

Yelp
I had the 90 minute facial and while a bit pricey, it was worth the money! Very relaxing! The space is smoothing and comfy (robes are so soft). From check in to check out everyone was nice and professional. Highly recommend if you want to splurge on yourself. My friends and I are already planning another visit.

Yelp
My best friend had just moved to the city, and I was determined to make her feel like a queen on her birthday. I reached out to Cowshed to help me schedule an amazing surprise massage for her, and the reception staff went above and beyond to help me make this happen. I let my BFF know to just arrive, tell them her name, and everything would be covered. As she arrived, the staff warmly greeted her as if she were a VIP- with happy birthday wishes, a glass of prosecco, and even gave her a letter I had written for her to enjoy before her appointment. She called me after to let me know how impressed and loved she felt. She received the 60 minute "moody massage" and said it was AMAZING. She said the décor is super trendy, upscale, and clean, and that the staff made the experience top notch. I wish I knew the names of the lovely ladies who help me pull this off, but just know how much I appreciate the "can-do" attitude, and attention to detail. I will be referring everyone to Cowshed spa!

Yelp
I went for a dry brush, body scrub, massage combo with Amado and it was great! Amado promptly gathered me from the lounge in the women's dressing room and as soon as we entered the massage room, I immediately felt very comfortable with Amado and I knew I would be in good hands. He was very thorough and throughout the dry brush/scrub he constantly asked if I felt he missed any areas and if I was satisfied. After the scrub, I showered and again, Amado collected me for the massage. I asked for a firm swedish and I got exactly that. Amado is very strong and he got all of my knots out of my upper back. You know a massage is good when you want to do nothing afterwards but fall asleep.

Yelp
My friend and I went to Cowshed in April to celebrate my birthday, and check it out for a possible pre-wedding bridesmaid mani/pedi location. The aesthetics are cool, and the staff were all great, but that's about where the positive comments end. First of all, the chairs are super uncomfortable. Maybe it's just because I'm tall, but, it wasn't relaxing at all. I had to hold my legs up onto the stool the entire time because the chair isn't raised. It's cool-looking, but incredibly uncomfortable. Secondly, neither my mani nor pedi lasted more than 2 days. I've never had a pedi last for so few days. And, to make matters worse, it was $100 for the mani/pedi. That is more than double what I normally pay at any other salon. I have absolutely no idea why they charge so much, but could maybe understand if it lasted more than 2 days. Also, they were already booked for a Friday morning in October when I checked at the end of April. It didn't matter because there is no way I'd go back there. I wish I could give a better review because the staff, including the woman who did my mani/pedi were very nice and we had great conversation. I just can't give more than 2 stars because of how few days it lasted, how expensive it was, and how uncomfortable the chairs are.

Yelp
This salon is beyond divine. From the relaxing aesthetic to the treatments, I truly enjoyed my 'ultimate pedicure.' I chose the ultimate pedicure because it includes the scalp and shoulder massage, which felt so so wonderful, but in general I can seen myself coming in for a speedy pedicure/manicure.

Yelp
This is my first yelp review but I feel compelled to write it based on my experience with Victoria. Not only is she warm, attentive and personable, she has been extremely helpful for my skin in the short time I've known her. She recommends products based on my skin needs and her facials are highly customized. She takes her time and makes the experience not only comfortable but worth the price. Oh and she's wonderful at waxing. I love my brows after a few waxes with her. Thanks Victoria!
