This place is so awesome. Has that hole in the wall feeling with authentically great food and a super energetic atmosphere. Always a solid choice for a Saturday night!

It had been so long since we had last visited that we didn't get our tickets online. Big mistake! Get your tickets ahead of time. Luckily, the owner sat us at the bar. We really enjoyed the show. The host, opening act, and headliner had us all crying laughing. The food was decent. We did not care for the cheese sticks, just not cooked in the center. The bartender was amazing. She hustles non-stop and is always friendly and accommodating. Someone in the group wanted to play pool, but the tables were in the smoking section of the place, and someone else in the group could not handle the smoke. They do have an air quality machine right at the door to this section that keeps the smell out of the main area.

This place is ok for trying something different without going to Norfolk or Virginia Beach. The smell of this place is not pleasant. The waiter's service was good; she attempted to our table diligently. The food is good for this type of place. Chicken wings were good if they were cooked longer. I have to emphasize that they were smocked and air-fried. The show begins late, around 8 o'clock, for someone who has to be at the office the next day, it can be tiring.

I came to se Nick Deez and it was sold out but they greeted us at the door and still made us feel VIP and put us on a waiting list. Meanwhile gave us drinks and provided 5 star service. They got us into the show and their crab cakes are delicious 🤤 To make it all a perfect night, Nick Deez was hilarious and so was Matt Hubbard the entire card was so good!

This place is a hidden gem! I wasn't expecting too much but I was so pleasantly surprised at the amazing comedians last night, the good food, and reasonable drink prices. We have seen a lot of comedians in Vegas, Funny Bone, cruise ships, etc. But the 2 last night (2/21) were incredibly funny!! The crab cake platter and cheese sticks were great. The mac and cheese would have been delicious if warm I think and the mashed potatoes were OK (little dry/flavorless). The brownie dessert was very good! Our waitress was fantastic and love that they bring you a pitcher of water! Inside was cozy and cute; however there's only 1 bathroom per sex and the women's constantly had a line, and servers had a hard time getting around. If they could someday add one in the back, it would be perfect! I really enjoyed it and we will be coming back for our next date night again!

Google
A wonderful evening spent laughing with some drinks. Food is great, I tried the nachos and I gotta say the portion sizes are big! They have a pool room with smoking allowed, which is nice for those that smoke, and is sequestered enough away from the main seating area that I did not notice the smell of smoke at all while there Overall a great place to see some local (and some not so local) comics do their stand up.

My best friend from Florida was up. We went to the Drag Show. OMG I HAD SO MUCH FUN!!!! FOOD LOOKED GREAT DRINKS REASONABL. OWNER WAS AMAZING. Very friendly and opening suggestions. Can't wait to see comedy show there.

Yelp
Everything was great, from the Greeters at the door to the end of the show. The ribs were excellent. We plan on coming at least once a month.

Yelp
It's been awhile since I've been here probably 10 years and it's gotten a lot better. I'm glad they no longer allow smoking inside. Our group of 4 highly enjoyed the food. The brisket was melt in your mouth worthy. Mashed Potatoes were on point! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Great Atmosphere! We chose to share our 2nd Anniversary at the comedy club! My husband did his thang on stage

Yelp
From the bar tenders to the waitresses to the owners; this is an amazing place! Everyone is so inviting. The food is so good and they always have top notch comedy. Definitely a fun place to be!

Yelp
Loved the comedy night, atmosphere, service, and beverages, but just didnt feel super fond of the food. The crab dip tasted weird and was luke warm, and, believe me, it's usually THE thing that I order off of an appetizer menu if it is offered. So, to say that I don't like it is a shocker, because it's one of those things that I've never really seen a restaurant fail at. I strongly encourage kitchen staff to taste the food that they put together before offering it to the public. Mozza sticks were lukewarm, as well, which indicated that they weren't fried, but rather reheated and not to the melty stage. I feel like a total food snob having to say this but, I genuinely hope that this leads to kitchen staff taking more pride in what exits the kitchen. When people are paying $14 for crab dip, you better believe that one would expect it to be delicious.

Yelp
Intimate comedy club. Friendly Staff and ambiance. Quick Service! Definitely stop by if you're in the area!

Yelp
This place is perfect. The prices are just right and its very comfortable. If you need something to do, come out and get your laughter on... Make it a group night or just the two of you. Its real easy to purchase tickets online.

Yelp
Great food, awesome staff and entertaining comedy. Highly recommend something different than regular movie nights.

Yelp
I stopped by Sunday Funnies a couple of weeks ago and while I was there I also ordered the chicken wings- I wasn't disappointed by either! The host of Sunday Funnies, Luhray is hilarious. She engages the crowd and keeps the energy high! The wings are also really tasty! First they're smoked and then fried which leaves them crispy on the outside and still moist on the inside. Ive ordered them a once before and both times they've been good size wings and a fair price. If you're a fan of comedy and you're looking for a laid back place to eat, laugh and have a good time, this is the place!
google avatar

Yelp
This is still by far my favorite comedy club I've ever been to! I'm super sad that they no longer have their delicious burgers anymore however I understand why (their exhaust went out so they can no longer use the grill). Our server recommended the ribs and OMG they were amazing!! The comedians never fail to make you laugh and the drinks are delicious! If you're looking for a great date night, I highly recommend checking out Cozzy's!

Cay W.

Yelp
Service was horrendous. No food after 2 hours. We walked out even though we paid for our tickets

Johnny B.

Yelp
Great place but everyone was enjoying themselves and the host felt the need to come yell a patron to shut up. The lady wasn't being rude in anyway but she still felt the need to come embarrass her.

Yelp
Cozzys Comedy Club is the oldest comedy club in Virginia. There's a free show with featured local comedians every sunday ($1 tacos also on sundays) and a comedy open mic every thursday at 9 (in which I usually perform, so come out and see me sometime soon) This place also has some really good food. The chicken wings are delicious with a smoked flavor, the chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks are also bomb!

Yelp
I haven't been to this establishment since 2000, and I have to say it really hasn't changed. As soon as I walked in I could smell the stagnant aroma of cigarettes and mildew. Come to find out, there is a smoking room just off of the main room and the smoke did not stay in the room. I sat up front when the comedian was on stage and I was so close I was licking the mic stand. Hello, COZZYS, MOVE THE FRONT TABLES BACK A SMALL BIT. I was incredibly uncomfortable that close, I was looking up the comedians nose. The server came to our table several times and it was obvious that she was on something, pills, cocaine, something because she was bugging out big time. Also, her answer to a lot the questions she had was "I don't know, I don't work here a lot." Will I make the venture from Va Beach to here? nope, never again.

Yelp
Avery had a Groupon for Cozzy's, so I made a trip down to Newport News to see live comedy on Friday night. It included admission for two and $20 worth of food. The first thing that stood out to me is that Cozzy's is more like a tavern than a comedy club, as in it is definitely a restaurant during the day when it isn't comedy time. The comedy clubs I'm used to back at home are strictly comedy clubs, open only for shows and serving a more limited menu without a full sitdown bar area. The place is not too big, but it is comfortable, and the stage is modest. Both of the comedians performing that night were great! The food was alright. I thought the portions were pretty generous, and there was a good amount of variety as well. Service was ok, but there were only a few servers for the entire restaurant, so it was difficult to flag someone down initially. However, she did check on us periodically after ordering throughout our meal.

Yelp
I had a crab cake dinner entree with garlic parmesan green beans and mac & cheese. Tasted just like Stouffer's. The crab cake was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised. My husband is a vegetarian so there were little options other than salad. He went with mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders and fries. We had a good time hanging out in the back room with the smokers and pool table. Never knew that was there. Our bartender was awesome.

Yelp
Stopped into Cozzy's to check out the concert comedy. Had to place really talked up to me and was told the comedy was good. Had to check out one the oldest comedy clubs in Virginia while here on vacation. Comedy was great and the MC Holly was fantastic! She was so cute and funny! Drinks were decent, but didn't try the food. The only downside to my evening was my server Cindy. She was rude, left me alone without checking in, didn't offer me food at all, and took forever with anything I asked for. I asked for change when I payed the bill, and didn't even see her for nearly 15 min. Felt like she was trying to keep my change and see if I noticed. Maybe service could be better on a different night, but my first impression is good comedy, bad service at this place.

Yelp
Good place with great customer service, great and exquisite food. Recommended site to have a good time.

Yelp
Cozzys is a great option for a different and fun weekend activity. I've been coming here for about 7 years and it has remained consistently a good time. There are times when one of the comedians are not my style, but there are usually at least three, so you're bound to find one or more funny. They have a surprisingly good beer selection and the food is decent "bar" type food. Reasonable prices and impressive service in light of the fact that they're trying not to disturb the show. They also have military discounts. My only deduction is because I have sat through some rowdy audience members or "overly participatory" audience members and they don't seem to do much to control that. It's been a very few times that has occurred though and most times I've had a great time with no crazy audience participation.
google avatar

Izell T.

Yelp
It's not in a great part of town, but being the oldest comedy club in Virginia 26 years. It works, the comedians were awesome. There are always hecklers, and they had 1 until the headliner shut him down. Besides that drama it was awesome. Servers were courteous, the food good and the atmosphere was really enjoyable. Some times it's not the surroundings or location but the people who makes things great. Happy New Year, 2017!

Yelp
Not bad for a little spot back in the cut on Warwick in Newport News. The comedians were HILARIOUS, I was belly laughing all night. I suppose the seating arrangement is commonplace for comedy clubs to maximize patronage....that part is kind of annoying to me, but I guess it's the price you pay for the entertainment with elbow room increasing as the quality of the club increases. Service is good considering the close quarters and seating arrangement. You gotta give the servers some credit squeezing through the seats and people and trying to hear. I'll definitely be back for more.

Yelp
I went here for the first time. Attended Sunday Funnies. First impression, it was dark and seemed old. The waitress Emily was super friendly and helpful. The food was much better than I thought it would be. We had the fried shrimp, green beans, & salad. My cousin had the wings, and my friend had the crabcakes with green beans and mac n cheese. Nice portion size and good menu options. Sunday Funnies is like a workshop, it's a time where comedians practice new jokes - some were funny, some were not. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely visit again. We will try a paid show as well as the free Sunday Funnies.

Yelp
Went to Cozzy's Comedy Club for the first time tonight and LOVED it! The comedians (Vince Martin & Jon Mumma) were hilarious and the food was very good. The following is my review of the CCC&T: Food/Value: 4.5 Stars - My husband and I ordered the grilled chicken breast and the seared ahi tuna. They were both delicious and priced very reasonably at $9.99 and $14.99. Service: 4.5 Stars - I am surprised by some of the reviews on here because we actually had quite good service and the food came out in a timely manner. I'm not sure if we just got lucky but our experience does not seem to be the norm based on the other reviews. The only caveat is that I asked that the waitress to omit anything that was fattening and our salad came with cheddar and bacon but it wasn't a huge deal. Ambiance: 4 Stars - Very relaxed atmosphere, they have been in business for a long time and if you look closely the fixtures show wear (especially in the bathroom) but overall they maintained a very fun atmosphere. Comedy: 5 Stars - We were very lucky to have the privilege of seeing two very talented comedians. Even the hostess who acted as a kind of pre-warm up act was funny. Overall: We had a lot of fun and will most likely visit again very soon.

Yelp
My husband and I went to Cozzy's last night to hear his friend, Scott's Band as they were playing Celtic music. Having never been there we weren't sure what to expect. Well, the atmosphere is inviting and everyone was very friendly. The food was amazing. I had the shepherds pie which should be on the menu all the time. Best ever! My husband lived his fish and chips and we had the best piece of bread pudding we've ever eaten. Really! We saw the rack of ribs go by and the couple next to us said they were awesome. On the way out, we met the owner Lorraine and she was lovely. They have been there for 25 years and we will definitely be going back for dinner and the comedy. Really nice establishment with nice people and yummy food. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Only $13... Nice spot. Show was funny.. Have a non smoking and smoking section.. Pool table.. Full bar.. Cheap ( and strong) drinks. Food was pretty bad though. Wouldn't eat there again. Had a fun time though.

Yelp
A couple of girlfriends and I went by one Saturday evening to watch a show. I called to ask about the online reservations since it was a little tedious and the guy who answered took my name and reserved my seats over the phone, pretty awesome! When we got there the lady noticed we were military and charged us 10$ and not $12 :). So for all those military, show your ID's to get a discount. As far as the actual venue, it was super small but cozy! You really got to reserve seats or at least arrive early. They had a bar and seats up next to the stage. The night I went they were having a Christmas Ugly Sweater Contest. That was pretty cool. Just wish it was advertised on the website to know about it! :( The show itself was pretty good! The main host was freaking hilarious - Jose Sarduy. My friends and I had good laughs and enjoyed it with some alcohol. They really had the crowd going and pumped up the evening. Reason I gave it 4 stars was because of their food and service. We ordered some appetizers to enjoy while we watched the show but all of them were pretty disappointing. We kind of forced ourselves to eat the food just so we wouldn't waste our money lol. Also, the staff that was serving us was pretty slow. We had to constantly wave them down for whatever - more water, napkins, more beer, etc. Overall, good experience. Will definitely be going back.
google avatar

Yelp
I truly enjoy going to Cozzy's. This place has been around since like forever! Great staff, funny comedians and food selection is the best! Their drinks are to die for! Venue is small so you want to get there early enough to grab you some seats. If you are coming with a large party, call ahead to reserve. Admission fees varies depending if they are having a headliner comedian or not. No more than $12/person is what I've seen. They host a variety of fundraisers, events, private events, poker, stand up comedy, improv etc. Check them out! It's a gem for us locals!

Yelp
My husband and I made plans to visit Cozzy's for my birthday. I made the reservations several days before for a party of six with dinner at 6:30. Finding out that more of my friends wanted to go, I called on 3/17/17 to add more seats for my reservation. I was told by the person answering the phone that he could not hear me and I had to contact them on their home page. I did that. When some of my "party" showed up on 03/18/17, they were told there was no reservation in my name and there was no room for us. My friends also said that the place smelled badly like someone threw up in there. So we went to a restaurant elsewhere to eat and had a great time. We used to go to Cozzy's frequently. Think we have crossed them off our list. Had a great birthday anyway!
google avatar

Yvette V.

Yelp
Sitting here at Cozzy's, me and my husband were a little skeptical. We decided that we would give it a try. We have Cindy as our server and Jena S said she was not impressed with Cindy's service. I am here to tell you that Cindy makes this place! Talked to her and showed her Jena S's review. She wanted Jena S to know that she and a friend are more than welcome to come back and she would comp the night because she wants her to have a great experience! That is a 10 star server in my book!!! We are sitting here at this very moment and she is taking care of 15 tables and we have NOT waited on anything! Jena S. I challenge you to take Cindy up on her offer and let Cindy show you what a true Professional is!
google avatar

Don H.

Yelp
Cozzy's severely lacks security for its customers and performers. They also allow those on their hosting payroll to assault on stage talent with no repercussions. Don't waste your time. Plenty of better open mics and REAL comedy clubs in Hampton Roads that are safer and more professional than this hole in the wall with over priced food and the smell of decades of stale smoke wafting in from the back room.
google avatar

Jacqui R.

Yelp
Was here over the weekend and had one of the best meals there that I've had in a while. I ordered the chicken breast dinner (two chicken breasts, grilled) with a side of the baby baked potatoes. This meals was $9.95 and also came with a salad, I chose the Caesar. The chicken was seasoned to perfection, grilled and salted - SO GOOD! The little potatoes were really good too with a little bit of butter and salt. I will definitely order this meal again next time I am there.
google avatar

Laveta O.

Yelp
Lorain and staff are the best. I've been coming here for almost 20 years. They have become family to me. I always feel safe knowing that my safety is very important to them. Best comedy around. Why drive to Virginia Beach, etc and pay more.
google avatar

Brittany S.

Yelp
Company held the Christmas party here. I enjoyed it. I loved the food and the entertainment. The food took forever and when it was brought out it was all over the place. No organization. Usually the salad comes first however in this case it came with the main course. No biggie though, the food was great. I would definitely go again, but not in a big crowd.
google avatar

Jesse C.

Yelp
Really good tasty food. Also very affordable for a comedy club. It is very cozy seating, please plan accordingly for that. I am not sure I would recommend coming if you have social anxiety, it could be triggering. I loved the show. The atmosphere. It was awesome. I plan to come back :D
google avatar

Yelp
On point! What a gem we have in Newport News. Get a season pass and enjoy top rated comics all year long. It is an excellent alternative to the same old thing of a movie and dinner. Come out and enjoy the cozy atmosphere and be prepared to laugh. Cozzys has been the genesis of too many Hollywood rated comics to count. From Wanda Sykes to the Fat Doctor, Cocoa Brown...See up and comers on Thursday open Mike or Sunday nights when the folks trying to break into the business get their start.
google avatar

Yelp
Small tight comedy club and bar. Comedian quality can vary so YouTube them first. Drinks weren't too over priced and were not watered down.

Rebecca D.

Yelp
Who'd have thought!!! Fun, inexpensive, decent comedy in little Newport News!!!! For $10, we got two solid hours of reasonable comedy, an hour of it being really good! Fun cocktails, fun food!!! This little hole in the wall is a great find! We had lots of good laughs for a great price. Check out their website for details on shows. The service was good (maybe too good?) but we went on a double date with another couple, and really enjoyed ourselves. I had a martini and shared the most enormous platter of nachos I've ever seen with the rest of my companions. Get there early to get your choice of seats, and chit chat, because, yes it's rude to talk during the performance.
google avatar

Phyllis A.

Yelp
I traveled 2 hours from nc just to visit this club. Had the best time and laugh so hard it's not funny. The food was cooked on site and so good. Service was off the hook. I will be back.
google avatar

Theo L.

Yelp
Haven't been here for a while, going to go back soon. Saw Gilbert Godfrey here and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Something about the dive bar clubs add a level of authenticity and character to comedy that can't be replicated in arena's. I've seen gaffigan and mike d in NYC and early years Dane Cook in LA, and Cozzy's has every bit the crowd character and enthusiasm of those places. Foods not great, drinks are good, but the comedy is almost always solid and there's is a sorely needed gap for true comedy in this area so thank you Cozzy's for continuing to help fill it.
google avatar

Leanne S.

Yelp
I've never been here solely for food so I can't say much about this place as a restaurant, but as a comedy club it's pretty awesome. I've seen many comedians here, some well-know and some not, and I've never been disappointed. Once the show starts the waitresses aren't as attentive, but they probably don't want to interrupt...that can be good or bad depending. Only thing I really don't like is if you still have seats available at your table and they start to get full, they will seat strangers with you which can be awkward if you're more introverted like me. Overall all though good comedy club and not expensive. Also it's not exclusively 21 and up like a lot of other comedy clubs, so anybody can go!
google avatar

Steven R.

Yelp
The place was in a seedy area.... the room was small and the best part of the club was the up and coming comedian's... There was a couple there that sat as close to the comic as possible and gave this angry face. They made the comic very uncomfortable and things worse... As far as the service goes the waitress sucked... she billed me 20 bucks for a pitcher of beer. See what had happened was we were at the table and were ordering drinks and i asked what was on tap. She stated some strange beers and i said i'll take on... my homie said that sounds good i will take one too afterwards the waitress said it will be better and cheaper so we got it... After it was time to pay the check the receipt came to 25 bucks for a pitcher of beer and come clam-chowder.

Yelp
If you haven't been to Cozzy's, you are denying yourself one of the best treasures Hampton Roads has to offer! The Happy Hour specials, the incredible staff and the delicious food combine to create one of the most inviting places for a meal, a show or just to come and hang out! The BBQ is off the charts! I've had the pulled pork (smoked several times a week on-site in their signature pink cooker!) and the BBQ ribs. The ribs were crazy good, so tender and full of flavor! I tried the tuna tacos and spinach and artichoke dip this week and I was not disappointed! Do yourself a favor, put Cozzy's in your GPS and head on over! You can thank me later!

Baily R.

Yelp
Not at all what we expected. We have been to Cozzy's many times and had pretty good service and decent food. The last two times have been awful. Horrible service and cold food. It took us 25 minutes to get drinks and over an hur to get our food =, which was cold when it finally arrived. I would understand if they were busy and it was a sold out show, but it was not. I spoke to the manager and she said, sorry that "it was just the way it is around here"!! I dont know what is going on over there. We are not going back again. Such a shame, we use to go at least once a month. Time to find new laughs. :(
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
I was in Williamsburg with some friends and we decided we needed to get to Newport News for a little bit of night life. This was a top yelp result and I definitely see why. This is a true comedy club... Located in a sketchy place, dark, a little bit stank, small tables and chairs butted next to each other, and a busy bartender and wait staff balancing trays through a dark, crowded audience. The host was hilarious and really did a good job warming up the crowd for the next comedian. I will definitely go again if I'm in the area. The food was also actually really good, nothing fancy but had what you need since you are really there for drinks and laughs, right?
google avatar

Jon W.

Yelp
Cozzy's has withstood the test of time not only because of the love that goes into keeping it going, but also the quality of talent it consistently attracts to its stage. Top notch Comedy on weekends; 8 craft beers on tap; great supporters of local music and comedy during the week; one of the last places on earth that has an indoor/ventilated smoking lounge; fantastic BBQ by Cory and an otherwise eclectic, fair priced menu; a very conscientious wait staff -- what is there to complain about? Laugh and enjoy this gem of venue.
google avatar

Aiden B.

Yelp
Very cool and fun, but small venue. If you're planning to go, get there early, as this place fills up fast!

Pete C.

Yelp
After our first drink order, our server ignored us except to drop a bill on the table. A large, very drunken group came in and sat next to us. They were so drunk they were falling out of their chairs and screaming at the comedians. The management did nothing to correct their behavior so other guests could enjoy the show. We will not go back.

Yelp
Boyfriend and I Went to the 10:30 show last Saturday night. Comedians were very funny. Staff was friendly and quick. And prices were pretty fair. Definitely could see us being regulars here.
