7 Houston Starters That Are The Main Event - Houston - The Infatuation

"The ratio of cake to crab here leans heavily toward team crustaceans. The very crabby cakes have a delicate whiff of crispy crust and even more crab on top—just in case you get worried this is something else— and are set adrift on a plate of lemon-packed sauce. This dish is a classic and built for sharing. But you can also have it all to yourself." - gianni greene, chelsea thomas, chelsea thomas, gianni greene, chelsea thomas, gianni greene, chelsea thomas, gianni greene, chelsea thomas

Google
Hands down the best seafood boil in all of Los Angeles. This is the only place I ever go to. Spicy Cajun snow crab and shrimp bundle is my go-to. Wonderful owner as well, this man has to be the nicest and most hospitable person I’ve met here. Always greets you and does his best to make sure you’re alright and don’t need anything. Would recommend the Clam Chowder and Crab Cakes as well.

Google
Food was really good actually. The waiter/host wore way-way to much cologne however and it lingered throughout our whole meal. Also when we walked in we were greeted with him gruffly yelling across the restaurant "follow me" good food, nice looking restaurant. A professional at the front would make this place excellent.

Google
This place is on the other side of the busy Brand Blvd. Food and Service is good! Our first time here and I was in the mood for some seafood before we left LA to go back home. I Googled "oysters" while we we were passing Glendale and this one came up with 4+ stars. Lots of pasta choices-great for my kids because they love pasta, they had single seafood boil plates and nice dinner plates too. I got a shrimp boil and a plate of raw oysters! My kids got pasta, and Hubby got himself a lobster tail dinner. Food was EXCELLENT! Atmosphere was nice, looked like a rustic Italian restaurant. Nice for lunch, dinner dates, and big family gatherings too as there was a large table across the room with 7+ people. Our servers were very friendly and seemed to treat all guests with grace. Will I come back, YES.

Google

Google
Hidden gem in Glendale.First time going here and could not be happier. My usual place for this type of food is Kickin Kajun, but definitely from now on this will be my spot, no more waiting over an hour for a table. This place has a larger menu with a ton more items to order. The food was very delicious, I have absolutely no complaints.

Google
In town for work. Next to Embassy Suites. Ordered the mahi but saw the other dishes! GENEROUS portions! Great service (ask for Alex)!! Will be back for the soft shell or dungeoness. Or the shrimp boil. Prices were super reasonable!! I will be back. Alone, with clients, with family… definitely go here.

Google
I had a great experience at Crab Avenue. The seafood was fresh and delicious, especially the crab and shrimp. The service was excellent — staff were friendly, attentive, and professional. The atmosphere was clean and pleasant. Highly recommended for seafood lovers!

Yelp
This would have to be my favorite seafood boil at all times, my co work mention it too me a while back , very hesitant to go because I hate to be disappointed. Please don't walk run it's the best. I usually order my 1lb shrimp and potatoes and corn Cajun style and I order both my kids 1lb of their shrimp garlic butter. And they absolutely love it!!! And they are picky eaters. I have only order from uber eats sadly , soon to go to the actual restaurant and try more of their menu :)

Yelp
We had a great experience at the Crab Ave. We arrived around 4:40pm on a Sunday and we didn't have to wait at all. The food was amazing, the clam chowder was delicious, the seafood basket was really good too. We ordered from the crab station and when we got the food the food was not overcooked. We chose the "fire" level and will say it wasn't spicy at all for us but the Cajun flavor was good. The ambiance was a typical for a seafood restaurant. Would definitely come back and recommend this place.

Yelp
Alex 0007 is an AMAZING host!!! I have been a servers/bartender for 30 years, and I was honestly impressed by his hospitality and wit!! That's for making our family reunion a great day and for having Phenomenal FOOD!!!

Yelp
Huge parking area for free. This by far is one of my favorite seafood boil eatery. Their cajun style sauce with different level of spiciness is really good and not salty. Garlic butter is good as well.

Yelp
We just randomly found this place tonight and it was the absolute best accident of my entire life. Alex greeted us at the door, and treated us with the most incredible and warm smile and hospitality. I was shocked this place wasn't busy because of how delicious the food was and how amazing the service was. There was no wait and the food was ready so quickly. The snow crab was the most delicious thing I've had in LA. I would give this place 10 Stars if I could. I would give Alex 11 Stars on top of that. Thank you,

Yelp
I went to this restaurant for the third time and I am very satisfied. The restaurant manager is very polite and friendly. The staff is very friendly and polite. The food is very delicious and the service is excellent. I have recommended this place to everyone. The service is very excellent. The people who recommended me to eat here, especially the manager of this restaurant, Alex, is a very nice person. Everything is done on time and without wasting time. It has a calm and friendly environment. It's clean.

Yelp
Saw this out my window for months on trips to the Hilton. Finally made the walk and I'm still not sure what happened. The service was odd and spotty. The drinks were very light handed. The food came so quick I questioned how they cooked it. Microwaved Crab? It was hot. The taste was good, so that is the reason for the 3 stars. The presentation was not appetizing and the overall odd vibe of the place ensures I will just look at it from my hotel from now on. Nothing ventured...nothing gained.

Yelp
Service was amazing and fast. Had the portabello-stuffed ravioli with Alfredo sauce and it was divine! Can't wait to come back here again!

Yelp
Super good and the prices are way better than Boiling crab. Very nice staff and clean restaurant. They also have tons of parking and outdoor seating. Definitely coming back !

Johana H.

Yelp
I love coming here with my family. Everyone is friendly and the beat part that they have different options on their menu. My husband and I love the whole shrimp but my daughter not so much. We always leave very happy.

Yelp
We were originally going to go to boiling crab, but after a long wait time we decided to go with Crab Avenue. What a pleasant surprise this spot was, we got there and had no wait time- the waiter greeted us and showed us to a table with a paper cover ready to go immediately. He gave us recommendations that suited the dining experience we wished to have. The food was fresh and came out all at once, the waiter and manager on staff checked in on us very often, and the place was clean. While we were there, we noticed many people were returners and talked about their good experiences even years prior. Will come back!

Yelp
Been to Crab Ave a few times over the years, living literally about three blocks from it. If you aren't near a cooking crab, or just don't feel like driving, and are in the Glendale area, it is worth a try. I feel it used to be a little better than the current iteration, but maybe my expectations are just really high? Am I high maintenance?? To be determined... We usually order a variety from the catch station, from whole shrimp and myself to clean and crawfish. We tend to get them flavored with the Cajun butter garlic mix. For me, the seafood is great, it is the butter that feels like singing is leaving. Maybe it is because I like the sauce at a different place so much better, and I feel it doesn't love you to that level of deliciousness, but it is decent in its own right. As far as service, I feel it can be hit or miss. Sometimes service is fast, other times it isn't busy and service is still slow. Guess it just depends on the luck of the day. Overall, the seafood is good but the sauce leaves something to be desired for me. But if you're feeling like this type of cuisine, and are in the area, it doesn't hurt to give it a try

Yelp
So yummy. Wonderful service. Highly highly highly recommend the spicy cauliflower. The flavors were spot on.

Yelp
Great service and friendly staff, delicious food and relaxing atmosphere. Alex was friendly and polite. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
Trump supporters. Shouldn't be a problem if they do not rub it in your face. Too bad we used to go here a lot. Shrimp not fresh. Shell sticks to meat is how you know. Go if you love Trump. Youd be right at home.

Yelp
My parents and I got an invited from my parents friend live in Glendale to come over to eat this place for dinner or lunch. The service was amazing and friendly polite, the waiter name is Alex he always comes to my table to check if everything was okay. I like their food cajun shrimp with mild cajun and garlic and especially I have a sweet tooth to eat some delicious dessert Nutella cheesecake it's was so good. The ambiance was great and I enjoy with their delicious foods and everything. I will always come back here for their delicious foods and desserts

Yelp
Is it too freaking hard to put utensils in a "to go" order? Seriously, even if this is the most fabulous takeout food ever, I am so aggravated right now after walking all the way to and from the restaurant to pick up my food, to get up to my hotel room and find out there are no utensils in the bag that I will just leave it at that...

Yelp
Hotel didn't allow check in until 4pm and i was in the area around 3 so i stopped by for a bite. It was okay. Not terrible, but nothing to write home about. I ordered the lunch special cesar salad with salmon but I got chicken instead, which was still decent so I didn't send it back. The salad was leafy, and came with two sides of dressing. I will say for as plain and basic as a cesar salad can be, it was. Also, on the menu I ordered on (lunch menu specials, served until 3:30pm) each lunch meal was supposed to come with a side, however I was told it was just the salad with choice of protein. My friend ordered the build your own pasta which was way better. The mozzarella sticks were a 2.5/10. Skip. However, our waiter, (who was also our greeter) was very nice and attentive. The restaurant was very decorated and clean but empty. And some interesting music was playing!

Yelp
very good food and customer service was great. i went with two friends and we got one pound of a variety of things. will come again

Yelp
Dined here on a Wednesday night to have a small celebration for my mother's birthday. Upon entering, we were the first and only party right before the dinner rush at around 5pm and parties arrived shortly after. Parking was ample with their own parking lot. This has been my parents' go-to for seafood boil for years. We ordered the following: 1lb shrimp Cajun mix with potatoes, sausages and corn. Mild 1lb snow crab legs Cajun mix. Mild 1lb snow crab legs butter mix. No spice Grilled Mahi Mahi plate with salad and veggies. Everything we ordered was flavorful and paired nicely with steaming white rice. I also really recommend enjoying seafood boil with sweet, plain corn. The service / food came a little slow but we are appreciative of Alex who was really funny and welcoming. He saw we were waiting awhile and made sure the food was cooking faster. He often came to check on our table and always asked if we needed anything. Our additional to-go order was prepped and packed quickly and nicely. I really liked his hospitality! Will always be coming back with either dine-in or take-out!

Yelp
Shrimp/crab plate was delish. Pomegranate margarita with no lime - will be coming for it again !!

Yelp
Place was nice, food was okay. Had a wait, but was seated quick. Waiter was super polite and friendly he had great service(I wish I remembered his name). Cool place to stop in and catch something to eat.

Yelp
Upon entering I was greeted and seated. I had previewed the menu prior to arrival so I knew what I wanted. Being from NOLA I'm always hesitant to order boiled seafood outside of Louisiana. Therefore if ordered the fried okra as an appetizer. They were hot, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. For my entree I ordered the lemon and herb grilled shrimp, grilled zucchini and sweet potato fries. Everything thing was cooked perfectly. Alex (the owner and/or manger) was great. He checked on me several times ensuring that I was ok and satisfied with my meal. The place is kept very clean. This includes the restroom. This place is on the opposite end from the Americana shopping area so it's not crazy busy or over priced. I'll be back on my next visit to Glendale, CA

Maddie G.

Yelp
It's a very underrated spot in my opinion. I had hosted an event here not too long ago, and the staff was very accommodating to our needs. Our event area was in the middle of the restaurant on the first floor and it turned out much better than I imagined. It was easily accessible and not hard to find. To top it off, the food was AMAZING! The seafood was so good and decently priced, I'm surprised I do not see more people at the restaurant on a daily basis. Thank you, Alex and to the rest of the staff for making our event easy going and memorable!

Yelp
This place is a scam! I normally don't leave reviews but this time I had to save someone else from making the same mistake I did! I paid 90 dollars for one crab leg. I ordered a pound of crab legs online for pickup. I called first to make sure I was ordering the right thing. The man at the restaurant assured me it would be good and filling. After picking it I got home to find one crab leg in a big tin. I paid over 90 dollars for one crab leg that was for sure less than a pound. They must have weighed the tin and the sauce too. I hope this helps someone.

Yelp
Great service, diverse menu, and friendly staff. Highly recommend! My favorite was the grilled butterfly shrimp, it comes with 2 sides - I got the mash potatoes and zucchini. It tasted great!

Hov K.

Yelp
Food is great staff even better always a pleasure talking with him and 100% better than boiling Crab

Yelp
I am sorry to say but not the greatest experience for my first visit. We got ordered everything you see in the pictures. Unfortunately everything we ordered tasted like frozen, not fresh, seafood. The clams were rubbery and chewy. If these were "fresh", then they was something else wrong with them before cooking. The shrimps were good, but the sauce was way too oily. You had to constantly mix it together so your bites weren't just oil. We ordered a Dungeness crab and there was definitely something wrong with it. The meat was very, very dry and had no crab flavor at all. The manager happily removed it from our bill. Ambiance: 6/10 Cleanliness: 7/10 Bathrooms: 8/10 Service: 9/10 Food: 6.5/10 Value: 6.5/10 Will I Return? I am thinking not anytime soon...Sorry

Yelp
My family and I are here on vacation and this restaurant was nearby. I'm so glad we ate here, my family loves seafood. The service was great too! Very attentive staff and always smiling. We even got a free dessert for my granddaughter's 7th birthday.

E. R. G.

Yelp
It was the first time I ordered food from Crab Avenue, and it was excellent! I'm definitely going back for more. The food was so fresh and so tasty, and there was a lot of it. It was enough to keep both of us satisfied. We ordered via Grubhub and it was great.

jaime d.

Yelp
The food is great and the service is great they should come over and injoy good food and his name is Alex I will give five stars
google avatar

Flower G.

Yelp
The Crab Avenue was a nice place. I love the vibe and the music! I wish there was more people to make it more lively but it was still very nice! If I could change one thing it would be the snow crab legs were very thin so I could barely get any meat! But other than that it was lovely

Anthony Anushig M.

Yelp
Family owned and the owners are great. Great food ambiance and delicious food. Great service

Beverly W.

Yelp
Food was great and fun times!! We watched the boxing fight with the whole restaurant. Time was October 2024

Yelp
10/10 Customer Service AND food very family oriented. I loved the service we received, the prices are reasonable it's a wide variety of food and everything came out in minutes!

Yelp
I was staying down the street and drove twice by this place and it looked Cozy from the outside. On the 3rd day I finally decided to give it a try for dinner and it was not what I had in mind. Rough start, no greeter I had to go inside and announced myself. As I was walking inside with my service dog I was asked to go to the patio with the dog, I had to repeat myself twice that he was my service dog and we were sitting inside and he would just lay under the table. Manager wasn't too happy and put us in the corner by the exit away from a few busy tables located on the other side of the wall. I asked for a vodka martini, which they did not know how to make it. I ordered fried shrimp, Caesar salad and crab cakes as appetizers. The shrimp tasted exactly like the frozen ones from Costco, crab cakes a little bit too fishy. The winner was the Caesar Salad which it was fresh along with the dressing. Later on Manager came over made small talk, it made up for the rough start. Place was dead, employee's were like what ever. I did not feel appreciated, definitely an opportunity to train staff. Sunday business was all most non existent, I could tell they were a few locals which staff did provide some love to them so they were happy. I did not attempted to order main dish since I was already disappointed with quality of food and service. Place looks like it needs an upgrade, wall had food stains all over and the outside patio where they were going to sit me had dirty tables with trash and leaves all over the floor. This place needs some cleaning...

Jonny R.

Yelp
Not as good as it use to be. Walked in, didn't ask for drinks until they asked for food order. They don't even do the food in bags anymore. I asked for water and got a chargeable water bottle. Who does that ? All the sides are Put in plastics, like they are ready for to go. Place lost a local.
google avatar

Larry D.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise. The family loves seafood but we find that most restaurants just phone it in. Not this place. I love the fact that they fried different seafoods using different flavors and coating types. Everything we had was excellent. The fried shrimp were quite large and composed of more shrimp than breading. Their cole slaw, of all things, stood out too. They serve bottled water and I was glad they didn't use the opportunity to price gouge. 50 cents per water is pretty reasonable. Service was also very friendly.

John A.

Yelp
Visited on Saturday, April 21st. We ordered the Grilled Mahi Mahi filet with a lemon butter sauce with linguine in a garlic sauce and garlic bread as sides. We also ordered 1 lb. of Cajun seasoned clams with a side of white rice and Cajun flavored corn. Pros. (1) Food portions were big. (2) Bottled water (Dasani) was 50 cents per bottle. (3) Service was prompt and polite. (4) Prices are reasonable for seafood entrees. Cons. (1) Food quality is mediocre. (a) The grilled Mahi Mahi filet had obviously been frozen before the filet was cooked as it had the consistency of cardboard. (b) The filet did not have any grilled taste to it. It was slathered in a lemon butter sauce which overwhelmed the taste of the fish. Be sure to ask for your sauce on the side to better control the amount. (c) Clams were prepared with way too much red "Cajun" powder which completely overwhelmed the taste of the clams. (2) Food was brought to us very quickly (less than 5 minutes) after ordering. We suspect that the food was not prepared to our order but was already partially (if not completely) cooked in advance.

Yelp
"A big thank you to [Alex ] for providing outstanding service throughout our meal. Their menu knowledge and attention to detail made for a seamless dining experience. The delicious food, impeccable service, and charming ambiance made for a memorable experience.

Raistlin C.

Yelp
The food here is fantastic, I've been there 3 times, had the crab and crayfish, the Cajun seasoning they used tasted great and the medium spicy level was perfect. Spicy enough to feel the heat and not to much to regret it later. I've also had the shrimp Alfredo which was recommended to me and it was also delicious. The lobster ravioli was delicious as well and when I order some sake, which I definitely recommend, they gave me a half bottle, when I pointed this out they only charged me half for it. Fantastic service and great food. Felt like a regular after my first visit. Overall great restaurant and great staff.

Nikki B.

Yelp
amazing food n service. we go here for family birthday and holidays n they are always so accommodating
google avatar

Marcela M.

Yelp
Not worth the money. At all. It's nothing but frozen food heated up. Can't believe they're serving items you can buy at the grocery frozen section. The ambiance is nothing spectacular. The service is meh. The Boiling Crab is 1000 times better and worth the money they charge! Don't waste your time and money here.
google avatar

Juan F.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is pretty big and the server (he was by himself for some reason on a weekend lunch rush) was super friendly and attentive even though he was being pulled into every direction. We got 1 lb of shrimp, 1 lb of mussels and the fried basket. Everything tasted pretty good and the best part is that there was no wait until some place that boils their crab too.

Karim R.

Yelp
The crab here is amazing. Alex who runs this place was very friendly and cool. Service was great. Tried the house special with 3lbs of shrimp. So tasty and came with garlic bread. The music is on point as well. Cajun fries and fried shrimp with the garlic butter was exceptional. Would recommend this place everyday of the week. When you get here ask for Alex. Ask him for the Chapo special.
google avatar

Yelp
I went to this restaurant because this is what my elderly mother chose. As soon as we pulled in the parking lot at 6 PM and there was only two cars I got the oh no feeling. Inside the restaurant was empty, except for one table. The interior of the building is dated. After being seated, I had to check out Yelp. I decided not to eat anything fish after reading the reviews. I ordered the chicken Parmesan because I figured they couldn't screw that up too badly. The pasta was fine, the chicken was definitely frozen reheated and old. My wife had to order marinara sauce twice to make the pasta edible that she ordered. The six dollars worth of steak was more like gristle or old beef jerky. She found it in edible. There is no way the five star reviews are real.
google avatar

Henry A.

Yelp
I love the boil here man! The seafood is perfectly seasoned, the meat is tender, you get a decent amount of food for your $, and the beers are cheap. I usually get the crab or the crawfish. I'm not a fan of shrimp generally speaking so I like getting a 1 lb of crawfish and 1 lb of crab. Usually this is too much food for me and I'd be ideal if I could get 1/2 lb servings but they don't do that. Normally I'll get a potato/corn mixed in there to spice things up. I can't really say too much about this place. Local place to get really fresh seafood boil whenever I get a craving for fresh seafood!
google avatar

Linda K.

Yelp
I ordered lemon pepper fries but I got Cajun fries instead in my order. I also ordered a pound of clams more than half of them are still closed so pretty upset with that. I googled why the clams are still closed is because they were not in good condition when they received them or they got bad over time or maybe they have too much mud in them but it's literally like 20 of them that are closed

Rhuvz L.

Yelp
They don't even offer drinking water. We ordered lemon pepper flavor on shrimp and crawfish, they served is Cajun Sauce. I will never come back here!... Service is sucks!. You have to pay for water. They have only 3 choices of sauce. 1. Special Cajun Garlic Butter Milk 2. Cajun Lemon Pepper 3. Plain Garlic Pepper. We chose a Lemon Pepper with NO Garlic. But it came with lots of Garlic.
