Yelp
I haven't gone to a crab boil restaurant for quite some time. So, it was due time to satisfy our heavy cravings. Thanks to Yelp, and the fact that we happened to be in the area, we came across Crab Island.
Crab Island is located on the northwest side of town on Rock Springs Dr on the northwest corner of the US95 and W. Lake Mead. It's easy to miss so make sure you keep your eyes on the lookout for it. Another thing is that parking right in the immediate parking lot located by the outdoor patio is very limited, but there's ample amount of parking on the side of the restaurant.
Came in on a Saturday afternoon and I believe we came at the perfect timing because business didn't start to really really pick up until after we got seated. So, we didn't have to wait for a table to become available like other patrons had to do after us. The girl at the host/cashier desk wasn't very optimistic but she wasn't grouchy either, so I'd say that her service was a little sub-par.
The restaurant appearance itself is very clean and well maintained. We happened to come at a time when Las Vegas opened at 100% and this restaurant still managed to make sure that the tables were all socially distanced. I felt pretty safe removing my mask when we got seated.
The minute we got our menu we knew instantly what we wanted. They offer a great variety of items on their menu. It was very tempting to want to over-indulge and over order everything on the menu, but I know that we would not have been able to finish it all. Also, everything was decently priced for what they offer.
We ordered Fried Calamari and a Combo A with side orders of White Rice. Well, the excitement of seeing the food boiling in a bag with all that yummyness just steaming waiting to get in my tummy was seriously on overdrive. I've learned my lesson before to not immediately dive in to reach for even a sausage in a steaming bag because I have definitely burned my tongue and taste buds before getting to enjoy my meal. Well, skipping to the point where we finally finished taking our last bite...the crab boil was very delicious. Side note, I wasn't a huge an of the Fried Calamari so we might try a different appetizer next time.
Throughout the time while we were eating there was a man that was walking throughout the restaurant checking up on all the patrons. I assumed that he was either the manager or owner but I didn't take the time to ask because I was busy stuffing my face. The other staff also came to check up on us, as well as other patrons, quite frequently so it made me feel very valued as a patron.
Yes Yes Yes...you need to check out Crab Island the next chance you get. Also, don't forget to take a picture on the throne in front of the artificial grass well behind the front counter.
