The fresh, wild caught seafood market and restaurant provides you with the option to grab a seat at one of the outdoor picnic tables and dive into your hot lobster roll sandwich, served with French fries and coleslaw, or savor the homemade jumbo lump crab cake platter with two sides, including baked potato, vegetable of the day, or another one of your favorite side dishes. You can also order your seafood favorites to go and enjoy your Old Bay-steamed king crab legs at home with family and friends after a fun day at the beach." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

The Crab Shack is always a solid seafood choice when visiting Brigantine. It is a fish market that offers take out as well as eat in, with an outdoor picnic area. I recommend calling in your order ahead of time during the summer season. The seafood is very fresh and wild caught. All meals are made to order, nothing pre-frozen. They have an up to date menu online via their website.

Lobster rolls were as advertised: HUGE! Service was great and the roll was very tasty. I’ll be taking my husband here soon.

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had and my wife absolutely loved her crab cakes. A tiny bit pricey but well worth it cheers mates

Food was great. Flounder, shrimp and scallops were all fresh and delicious. Soup was a little watery but overall very good experience!

My husband and I made a detour to the Crab Shack on our way to New York. We wanted to find a fresh Lobster roll before we left town. This place is an absolute gem! We started with the crab gumbo and the clam chowder, you could definitely tell they were homemade. The owner was very helpful with my gluten allergy too. We ordered the cold lobster roll and the hot one to try both. They were both amazing, the lobster was fresh, tender and well seasoned. Everything was perfect, highly recommend! :)

Gone past a zillion times on way to beach. Finally decided to try them. SO DISAPPOINTED! Lobster roll was tasty however, very little lobster and almost all of it was the very tip of the claw, and very tough. The fries had no taste; tasted like frozen fries. The Cole slaw was good. For $27.99 it was pretty terrible. Husband had the Fish & Chips. $24.99 for 3 almost paper thin tiny pieces of fish that were over cooked, almost burnt looking. Fries awful. Cole slaw good. Crappy cocktail sauce prepackaged. Would have preferred tartar sauce but wasn’t even asked. Additionally, the staff were RUDE as heck. Hubby asked for ketchup and the woman snapped at him that it was in the bag. 2 meals with fries and 2 tiny ketchup packets. We are local but won’t be patronizing them again. $57 for 2 crappy meals; complete rip-off.

Visited here today after getting my first Pfizer shot for COVID-19 vaccination. Not many customers in this bad weather(foggy & drizzling). Not hard to find. They have outdoor eating tables but no table service.... It might be good for summer time but not so good for this period.... Now, get to the point - .... I ordered fried fish and chips. The fish was really fresh and well fried. It was very tasty. The French fries were also hot and in gorgeous volume.... My wife's oder - lobster roll was also good. I'll recommend this place for its food. Staffs are also friendly and helpful.....

Google
If I could give a rating of 10 stars, I would. My wife and I stopped in close to closing time on a Thursday (not realizing the time) and the staff were so professional and kind. They were helpful with suggestions and everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was crazy delicious. All seafood, no filler. We have officially found our favorite seafood spot in Brigantine.

Yelp
Local seafood place in brigantine. Fresh as can be, good ingredients simple honest food. Had a combo which came with crab cakes, broiled fish, grilled big shrimp, along with French fries and Cole slaw. Lots to eat for less than 50 for two people. Owner operator Pete is a good guy. Outside dining benches will provide good place to eat while food is hot. Liquor store down the block for quick beer wine or whatever. Big parking lot. Support your local businesses.

Yelp
One of my favorite things about a day at the shore is a hot lobster roll on the beach with fries. I've never been to Brigantine and found this place online. My friend and I each ordered a lobster roll. It was just OK. It wasn't very buttery, the roll had no flavor and began getting soggy pretty quickly. The lobster meat didn't fill out the roll. They would be better off putting the same amount of meat on a smaller roll, even a nice hot dog bun would be perfect. I had to rip off about 1/3 of the roll and squish the meat to one side just to make each bite filling. Also, it's laid on lettuce which began turning brown almost immediately upon eating. Lettuce in the hot sun with hot lobster on top... not a good idea. The actual lobster meat was tasty and fresh, but the overall execution of this meal needs some major improvements.

Yelp
My drinks that they put as fish were $4? The crab gumbo had one significant piece and no flavor. I wanted to like it because it's local and looks fresh. Yet, this place was so overpriced and food did not taste fresh. It was a huge disappointment. I'll never return, go get food at Wawa down the road.

Yelp
I like seafood so I am always trying out new place with seafood, when we went down to brigantine for the beach, we wanted to grab a quick bite after swimming, I looked up yelp and saw this place with good review so I gave it a try. I ordered a hot lobster roll that come with fries and coleslaw, I think it was somewhere around 25 dollars, boy was I disappointed, the roll was soggy, should use a better roll. There wasn't enough lobster meat on the roll, there isn't really much flavor at all. Portion was so small that I felt like I got robbed because it is at a tourist place, you might be better off just to get food inside the store and cook it yourself so you don't get rib off for quick hot food. I would not go back again. Service was ok nothing out of the normal, there is a bench outside you can sit and eat and it did have a umbrella on the table so that was good because it was a very hot day. Inside the store is your typical seafood looking store nothing fancy about it but it was kinda dark.

Yelp
We have been coming here, every year, for the last 15 years. It's our favorite spot on the island! The food is absolutely phenomenal and always fresh!! Pete and his family are always so kind and hospitable. If your by AC make sure to go the extra few miles and hit up crab shack!

Yelp
My mom and I both got the lobster rolls and lobster bisque. She got the warm and I got the cold. They were both a good sized lobster roll with big chunks of meat. I wish the actual lobster had some flavoring. There's supposed to be lemon, Mayo, and horseradish sauce, but I didn't taste any of that on it. Just tasted like a roll with lettuce and some bland lobster. It was good to try, but definitely won't be coming back for the lobster roll again. The lobster bisque was very tasty, but definitely could've used more lobster in it since it's called "chunky lobster bisque". I had about 1-2 chunks in it. Good size for the price though. Ladies at the front were very nice and quick. It did take about a half hour to be done so calling ahead is probably your best bet if you don't have time to wait or are hungry.

Yelp
What a fun(ky) experience. They had no indoor seating and we were traveling, so we opted for their picnic tables which were very dusty and obviously hadn't been used in a long time. The entire exterior was in disarray and we wondered if they wanted us there or not lol. It's very cute and looks like it's a happening spot with a little cleaning and tidying. Probably a better spot in warmer months haha. Our meal was really good. Wife's first time having lobster and she was a little grossed out (not the lobster's fault lol) but mostly enjoyed it. They were very nice to accommodate our request for more shrimp in our package instead of clams. I got the lobster roll (hot) which was pretty good. The bread was subpar and I would've liked a little more seasoning on it, but overall a pretty good sando. Friendly staff although they seemed shorthanded and were running out of supplies before our eyes lol (they didn't have napkins). I'd love to see what this place is like in the summer. Check it out.

Yelp
Went with a party of 13 who ordered a wide variety of individual orders. Everyone was quite pleased. I split a cold Lobster Roll which was chocked full of lump lobster meat tossed lightly w mayo and horseradish. It was very easy to split, fresh and tasty at a decent price. The fries are just OK, not their strong point

Yelp
The trays of seafood are to die for! We ordered a mussel, clam, and shrimp scampi with garlic butter pasta tray and fried calamari. The fried calamari was a bit too over fried which didn't make it as enjoyable. The pasta was really good and a huge amount for the price. It was around $25 for the tray. Next time I stop by I'll probably try a different sauce. We ate the pasta for 2 meals. Such a good local spot.

Yelp
This place has been around a while. They currently have sit-down service part of the year (off-season), but it's a takeout joint in summer. Since the pandemic I've only done takeout so here are my thoughts: Pros: The quality of seafood is very good, at the moment they make my favorite crab cake. Lobster roll is tasty. Cons: Their prices have skyrocketed in the last year or so (whose haven't I guess). This wouldn't be a problem except for the amount you get is small and the quality of the sides is frankly abysmal. The corn on the cob had zero flavor (likely frozen), which is a crime in the heart of summer in south Jersey (hello? Jersey sweet corn is everywhere). The coleslaw is minuscule and nothing to write home about. If you are primarily a TAKEOUT business in summer then make it worth my while please. Especially if you're charging $25 per dinner. TLDR: Some items are well done, but overall quality of sides and price loses major points.

Yelp
Excellent service and amazing seafood! All around great place for fresh fish. Check it out!

Yelp
Unfortunately disappointing as we were most excited for this for our shore trip. Ordered takeout. Mussels tasted bad so we ended up throwing them out just to be safe. I ordered the crab cake appetizer for my meal and it was way too tiny - should have gotten the platter. The scallops and shrimp and lobster roll were only Okay. The corn fritters were absolutely the best thing. The lobster bisque was good as well.

Yelp
I love this restaurant and the seafood is very fresh but we ordered Cpt Broiled Seafood and the seafood portions are good but the two sides that come with the fish are skimpy. The vegetable side was corn and we got a cole slaw

Kira J. F.

Yelp
Ordered and PAID FOR 50 clams and only got 41.... sadge .... anyways at-least it was good. UPDATE: me and my mom got very sick the next day from the steamed clams

Yelp

Yelp
De lish ous Outstanding roll. This is my first time here and i don't know what I've been doing all this time. It is so fresh and service is quick and everything about my meal was 10/10. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a delicious fresh lobster roll with fries coleslaw and corn fritters

Yelp
This is our go to lunch spot every time we are in Brigantine! Foods always great but a little on the pricier end but worth every bite! We usually get their lobster roll, fish and chips or a delicious fish sandwich!

T S.

Yelp
We eat here frequently and absolutely love everything we get. The fish is always cooked to absolute perfection. We love the seasoning on the fish and chips, and the fried flounder. The Mahi and the halibut are other favorites! Crab cakes, broiled or fried, the crab balls, the shrimp, it has all been delicious! The staff is working hard but always friendly and helpful. It's such a cute little place, with no frills, just great seafood. We have brought drinks and eaten outside in the fresh air, or just ordered and eaten at home. We are so spoiled to have such fresh fish right here, cooked to perfection!
google avatar

Sasha G.

Yelp
Never, ever disappoints!!! Their crab and lobsters are delicious! The corn fritters and fries are our favorite sides.

Morgan F.

Yelp
I went to buy items at this establishment and the store next door. After I parked I realized that I had forgotten my wallet. I searched around my car to see if I had any extra money anywhere and the owner proceeded to harass me. He called me a liar and threatened that he was recording me. Recording for what? I'm trying to buy things from you and that's how you treat customers? No wonder the parking lot was empty during primetime on a Saturday!

M F.

Yelp
Ridiculously small crab cakes for an outrageous price. Save your money. This place is a giant rip off. It also messed up our side orders and left out the baked potato (but gave us plenty of sour cream). The vegetable of the day was a 4 inch piece of corn on the cob. Just terrible value and bad quality.

Scott D.

Yelp
Great service and very nice food. I have been there and keep trying other places but the Crab Shack keeps me coming back

Daniele R.

Yelp
Not impressed: got the crab cake sandwich platter: fries were cold (even though I got there when they told me the food would be ready) crab cake ( small), was ok. Not sure why people are waiting in line for here.

Russell C.

Yelp
Great selection of fresh fish. Staff is friendly, informative and pleasant. The scallops and fish are great .
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
No doubt the fish is fresh, but c'mon. A lobster roll consisting of "Italian bread-style" hoagie roll? Not even the slightest bit toasted, no butter, and, while they're generous w/ their lobster portions, it was quite dry. And sorry, you do NOT put iceberg lettuce on a Connecticut-style lobster roll. That's amateur hour. Also, they have Kelcher's (the best) cocktail sauce in jars all over the place, but when you order a shrimp cocktail, you get a tiny, pre-packaged "airplane tin" of "ketchup." Also, over $100 for 2 lobster rolls, a shrimp cocktail and two salads? No tx.

Ashley S.

Yelp
Left out many items. We ordered the beach comber and lobster roll, and got it to go. We got back to the hotel and the beach comber is supposed to come with a lobster, shrimp, clams, corn, coleslaw and crab legs. When we ordered it the guy said they have everything on the list for the beach comber. We got back to the hotel and were missing our shrimp, we had no corn and we had no coleslaw. No one mentioned they were out of any of this when we got there, if that was the case. Because our food was still $83, and we paid full price for it. That being said, the food was good. It's good quality and all tastes great. Double check your food before you go or ask if they were out of anything, because if they are they shouldn't have anyone paying full price for a combo.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Most of the food we had was pretty good -- a solid 4/5. That being said, there was one dish we had that stood far above the rest: the Crabcakes. One of the best crabcakes, if not the best, I've ever had. We ordered crabcakes, broiled scallops, hot lobster roll, and lobster bisque. The crabcakes were super fresh, perfectly cooked and seasoned, super flavorful. If nothing else, just come here and order crabcakes. Seriously. The broiled scallops were good, if slightly over cooked. The seasoning was a little odd, but tasty. The lobster in the lobster roll was plentiful, but slightly under seasoned, a little over cooked, and the bun was not toasted at all. Still quite good tho. The coleslaw was extremely tasty. The lobster bisque was a little too creamy, but lots of lobster chunks and very tasty. Our second favorite dish here.

Yelp
Stopped & picked up lbs of grouper to go, on ice, for our trip back to Dover. Broiled it up, and it was outstanding. Very fresh! Smelled great out of the waxed white paper It was pricy---however it was damn good

Yelp
Despite their phone# being highlighted all over their website...The Crab Shack does not answer their phone!! After MANY rings, it states something to the effect of "the number is full" Very disappointing

Ka C.

Yelp
I just left this place and all I can say is Delicious I ordered the flounder sandwich platter. The gentleman told me I would love it and that I would taste how fresh the fish is. The fish was bigger than the bun !! How right he was. the bun is so lite soft and fresh and there was so many French fries hot and just made. I will definitely be back with my husband who loves seafood the next time ( 3 weeks in June ) Price was very good and the place was clean inside and out. There was NO fishy smell at all. KC from Long Island

Yelp
Very Fresh Seafoods. We had a great dinner. Nice people. Reasonable price. The taste is really good. Lobster Roll is not that good. Maybe it's not what we are expecting. The family platter/ Combo is so delicious. We will go there again. I'm sure you will love it.
google avatar

Crystal B.

Yelp
Bacon wrapped scallops - awesome, but there wasn't a horseradish sauce to go with which I love. Lobster bisque - good. REALLY creamy.. almost too creamy for my liking. Hush puppies - okay. Little dry, no cheese inside and no sauce to dip. Broiled sea bass - soooo so dry. Would NOT recommend. Had only the flavor of old bay (not a fan at all). I could barely swallow it. Waste of money. Crab cakes - broiled and fried were fantastic!! I really liked the fried ones. Chicken fingers & fries - basic/good. Crinkle fries. Did not have clams casino which I love Spent $113 through takeout Overall good, but I've had better.

Yelp
I love this place. First time...but definitely not our last time. Great food and service. Fresh seafood to fill your belly. Good portions large enough to share.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the better places but totally disorganized. Orders take like 40 minutes. Waiting for it another 15. You can catch it faster. The food. Very good. The three stars are all food related. The lobster roll was delicious as was the soup and hush puppies. But the wait time and price of 65 dollars for this for dinner..... I removed two stars. Ridiculously priced. Loooonnngggg wait times. It's what's expected here on Brigantine. Mediocrity.
google avatar

Michele D.

Yelp
Called at 4:30. Was told a half hour. Got there and was told I had just called. I said I had not. Please wait another 25 minutes I am told ..Finally after another 25 Minutes was told they didn't have my order. Asked for phone number. They had my name as Paul. How you get Paul out of Michele is beyond me. Then the belligerent man walking around without a mask yelling at me because they have 40 tickets. Then I get my order and it's ice cold! Since it had been sitting for a half hour. They're mistake and I got treated so rudely. And for gods sake wear your mask.

Yelp
MUST STOP DURING EVERY AC visit. I haven't had seafood this good anywhere else in the states , everything is so fresh and amazing quality. My faves are fried scallops and the crab cakes (amazing w no filler) . Hours are a little funny outside of summer so call ahead . But definitely don't miss it.

Janet S.

Yelp
Shrimp & clams were very fresh. Ribs were very good! Only Dungeon crab has a funny taste. But overall, great atmosphere, great service, great food. I recommend this place.
google avatar

Matthew S.

Yelp
The staff are rude and disjointed. The food takes hours to come out - go somewhere else.

Yelp
I generally have a strong aversion to seafood but always try to stay openminded. This especially holds true at restaurants that specialize in cooking up sea creatures. A trip to Crab Shack was enough to convince me to branch out of my usual eating habits and indulge in some fish. When you walk into the modest, classic building, you're faced with a decent-sized fish market. You can see all their fresh catches behind the glass, which is a great purchase option if you have a house/kitchen in Brigantine. If you want to dine in like my group did, just keep on walking. There's a handful of tables in the back -- separated with a door, so it's nice and quiet. Their expansive menu is reasonably priced and offers a host of options -- broiled, fried, grilled, etc. You can even order some barbecue if you're not in the mood for fish! I selected the fried flounder platter ($15.99) and garlic bread ($3.50). I was pleasantly surprised by the garlic bread. It was warm and gooey in the best of ways. There were four pieces, so it's a good idea to share as your starter! My flounder was a smaller portion -- keep that in mind -- but it came with two sides. I chose the fries and apple sauce. My friend also passed off her cole slaw and that was delicious! All around, this meal hit the spot and made me want to try even more seafood. The times are a'changin! UPDATE 7/5/16: I'm starting to regret yesterday's glowing review. I'm not changing my rating yet because I'm hoping they'll make this right. You see, I checked my credit card statement this morning and they had charged me $28 instead of $24 as I requested on my receipt. At no point did I give them clearance to charge me an extra $4 because they didn't think I tipped enough. My bill was $19.49 pre-tax. Even if you add a buck in for tax, at the very most I should have only owed $25 -- and that's at 20%! But to act like I'm a crappy person because I didn't want to give a gigantic tip that I never authorized? That's not cool. Hopefully they will rectify this. UPDATE 7/5/16 x2: I placed a dispute claim with my credit card company directly. They refunded my $4. All is well.

Yelp
The Crab Shack is your quintessential Jersey shore seafood restaurant. They have an extensive list of fish and seafood options (duh), in addition to BBQ. This seems like a winner if you have land lubbers in your group. The dining room is pretty small and you need to pass through the fish market first. The dining room itself is no frills. The entire atmosphere is actually pretty no frills. It's all about the fish (or whatever you order). I did like the throw back memorabilia to the Steel Pier underneath the glass on the table. It's a nice touch. I went with the blackened grouper. Each entre comes with two sides. I picked corn on the cobb and applesauce. The applesauce was a cup on Mott's which I found to be amusing. If you think about it though, it's a good portion and I could check out the expiration date myself (it was well into the future for the record). The portion of fish was pretty big. I probably should stop ordering grouper up north, because it's the freshest down south, but all considering it was as fresh as it could be for not swimming right out of the Atlantic in Brigantine. It seemed reasonably priced/market price. Our server was also no frills. She was nice, but not overly chatty. She was attentive but not smothering. She did a nice job of handling the whole small room. I look forward to many returns to get my fish fix.

Yelp
Horrible food! Lobster roll was soggy and lobster didn't have any taste. Not worth even half of the $25 charges to me. They added fries which were half decent. The Cole slaw was so bad we had to throw it out after one bite. They didn't give us utensils and napkins. Can barely move inside. One girl was sitting down doing absolutely nothing. Place didn't seem clean at all. No bathrooms. 30 minute wait for food that was overpriced and underwhelming.
google avatar

Theresa T.

Yelp
Monday afternoon called for lunch takeout for two platters only took 15 minutes! Came picked up the food then sat at the tables outside which do provide shade with umbrellas. Food was excellent service was quick! I would return

Alyssa W.

Yelp
I love this place! Their lobster rolls are delicious and I'm obsessed with their hush puppies and soups, too. It does take a while, so I'd suggest calling ahead with your order. Plus it's BYOB for the outside sitting area, so that's awesome. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Leah G.

Yelp
The only reason I'm giving the Crab Shack 2 stars is because the food is good. The seafood is fresh and taste great. Too bad the staffs' attitude leaves a bad taste in your mouth. We were charged full price for our platters even though they ran out of sides. They didn't even tell us they were out of anything before they charged us! When we went back to clear up the issue AND pick up the food that was missing from our order, they just said "we ran out of food." We have given the crab shack many chances to redeem themselves, and they always seem to crack under pressure when it gets too busy.
google avatar

Amber C.

Yelp
Number one this is not a restaurant. There are a few pick-nick tables outside that you can sit at after you order your food inside. No server, no bathroom for paying customers, and no utensils to eat crab legs with. You'll have to bring your own or buy some there. Lastly the crab legs were horribly over cooked with a lovely rubbery consistency. Had to go to dinner after we had dinner.

Yelp
Going to several places in the general area -- some in Brigantine and some in AC, one of which is pretty high end -- I concluded that this was actually my best meal in the entire area. I had the lobster roll and the clam chowder and man that roll was huge. It was not all quantity as the taste was really quite amazing as well. The place is really meant for take out. Yes, I believe you can eat there but I did not even peek inside to see how big it was. The owner (at least I believe he was the owner) seemed very intent on having happy customers and interacted as needed when he was around. (This was just before closing time) Their online presence is a disaster. Don't even look at their website menu! Unless I am missing something (or it has changed recently) it had no prices and was missing half the things they offer. Go there in person, grab a menu, place an order, take it home with you. You will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Natanya G.

Yelp
Excellent food -- have to say, it is quite difficult to get the restaurant on the phone because they are so busy. Took 31 calls before I was able to get through. That must mean great food. Hubs and I ordered blackened tuna caesar salad (excellent), mussels marinara appetizer (delish), and fish&chips with coconut shrimp (cooked perfectly and healthy portion). The mussels app was almost half a tray of mussels and sauce and not overcooked! Delicious and will probably be back for dinner tomorrow!
google avatar

Yelp
The Crab Shack may look humble by there's a line outside for a reason. First trip there today, bought the homemade crab cakes and fresh salmon to cook at home. Crab cakes are AMAZING and should have bought more! A good legit fresh fish market -- haven't tried their takeout food yet but the menu looks fantastic. We will definitely be back!

Monica M.

Yelp
Great menu!! They have something for everyone, lots of really good options- it was hard to decide! We liked everything we got and the wait was not long. Would HIGHLY recommend!

helene m.

Yelp
Tough to order take out in the summer but worth waiting on line. The Fried scallops are our all time favorite. Shrimp and Soups r great too!
