The 12 Best Po' Boys in New Orleans

"A charming hole-in-the-wall where the food speaks for itself, Crabby Jack’s makes overstuffed po’ boys big enough for two people and daring enough to impress NOLA's discerning foodies. Don’t leave without trying the slow-roasted duck sandwich, where the gravy soaks perfectly into the French roll that’s just managing to hold it all together. If seafood is more your speed, try another of their signature po’ boys, featuring a shrimp remoulade that’s equal parts sophisticated and decadent." - Andrew Parks

Great lunch spot, when I'm in town I always get to Crabby Jacks. Very busy place but service is always good. The portions are huge with a fair price . Great customer service . If your hungry I suggest to shrimp Po boy. (Or catfish)

This is the best po boy I ever had. Ordered the half shrimp and half oyster, dressed without mayo but added remoulade. Full for the day after eating it at lunch. Breading in the shrimp and oysters was spot on. The bread for the sandwich was sweet, light, and chewy. But the oysters stole the show. The mark of a good oyster is the briney flavor and these didn’t disappoint. Not going to be disappointed if you visit.

Celebrated a birthday dinner at Crabby Jack’s in New Orleans, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! This spot is everything you hope for when it comes to authentic, laid-back Louisiana charm paired with incredible food. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming—no frills, just good vibes and even better food. The menu is packed with classics, and every dish we ordered was a reminder of why Cajun and Creole cooking is truly something special. The seafood was absolutely outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Whether it was the shrimp, oysters, or fish, every bite felt like a celebration of Gulf Coast flavors. The portions were generous (you definitely won’t leave hungry), and everything had that homemade, soulful touch you can’t fake. What really made the night stand out, though, was the hospitality. The staff went out of their way to make the birthday feel special, adding that personal touch that turns a good meal into a memorable experience. If you’re in New Orleans and want a spot that delivers authentic local flavor in a relaxed setting, Crabby Jack’s is a must. Perfect for a casual lunch or, in our case, a truly wonderful birthday dinner. Five stars all the way—can’t wait to come back!

The oyster Po-Boy was terrible. He said the oysters were good, and they weren’t. In November by the way. Just ate some raw ones the other day at a restaurant, and they were salty. These on the po-boy must have been previously frozen because they had no taste. The bread was not passed through the oven. Who wants a po-boy when the bread is thick and soft; that’s gross. Also, not over stuffed like they advertise. I was so disappointed. Dollie Duhe

The duck poboy weighs close to 2 pounds! Stuffed with tender, slow roasted duck and covered in a perfectly seasoned sauce it is an amazing meal! The special was a shrimp poboy with Cajun seasoning that was very filling and stuffed with shrimp.

Really great shrimp Po boys (loaded with shrimp) and the best dirty rice that I've ever had (and I'm not generally a dirty rice fan)! The red beans and rice were also delicious! The staff was super friendly and helpful! So glad we stopped here! Highly recommend! ❤️

Shared table (long) dining, locals favorite. Just a quick update. We always return to crabby Jack's every time we come back to New Orleans. You can't get more shrimp on a po-boy anywhere else for these prices. THE BEST.
