Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

Only one of five Cracker Barrels in California and this one did not disappoint. Our waitress Stacey was phenomenal. So friendly to everyone. I was craving both pecans and chocolate chips in my pancakes and they made it happen! So delicious.

I love Cracker barrel and I'm so happy that we have one here in Central California! It's a real tree and I've missed it from my days living in the Midwest & the South. sometimes a waitress is having a bad day, but we tipped her well anyways. 🤷‍♀️ Can't wait till my next trip! oh, and PS... Please bring back the Cracker barrel game app. That was wonderful! 👍

Monica was a fantastic server! Super friendly with kids and extremely patient while we were ordering our food. Monica was attentive, had fast service, and a great communicator when she was busy!

Not good food. Not worth the price either. Service and biscuits were great but this place is just not to my liking. Ordered chicken fried chicken and then a to go meal. None of it was good really. I wouldn't come back unless it was for the biscuits. I hate to give it such a low rating but it just was not good food to me at all.

Our Server, Alexis S. was amazing. She was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Highly recommended asking for her to serve you.

We stopped by for breakfast. The place was packed on this Sunday morning and over the holiday. Surprisingly, we didn't have to wait for a table at all. The food was as delicious as ever, and the price and menu were excellent! The gift shop was so cute and had great prices. The staff was amiable and helpful. What a great experience!

We always stop here on our way to Arizona. The service is quick and friendly. The Country Store is always a hoot- trip down memory lane. Food is quick and hot, and a good deal for a pit stop along a roadtrip. Hubs usually gets the Grandma's Sampler with Pancakes. The pancakes are always AH-mazing. The edges are just slightly crispy and their butter and syrup are fantastic. My go-to is the Egg Sandwich. Simple and easy on a traveling tummy. For my side I love their Hashbrown casserole.

Can I just say how cute their store front is? The trinkets and other items they sell are super duper cute I want to buy them all! The interior design of the restaurant is very intentional, specific and interesting. Love the vibe! Service is amazing. Servers are mostly friendly, welcoming and attentive. The place is also pretty organized and clean. We've been here 2-3 times already and loved every experience we've had so far. On to the food, we got a couple things: Chicken on the side - their chicken's portion size was huge. The chicken was delicious, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Oreo Stuffed Cheesecake Pancakes were to die for if you have the sweetest tooth like I do. Love the food and vibe here. Highly recommend it!

I have this habit of judging a breakfast place based on their coffee and it's very rare that I'm wrong. This time, I was wrong. We ordered the grandma sampler - The pancakes were fluffy, the eggs cooked as ordered, and the hash brown casserole has to be one of the best sides I've ever had! The portions are huge, this alone fed 2 people. But again, the coffee was a let down, just wasn't strong enough. And the sausage patty was super dry and tough, didn't care for that. Our server was attentive and personable, but not overbearing and the restaurant itself was very homey. The shopping g part of the store was not what I expected, but it had a nice variety. Would definitely come back to try their dinner menu.

This was our first ever time at CnB and it was overall good. Service was nice - and quick - but they didn't have soup (any soup) and also no Apple Strudel! Not something I'd consider normal given it was a Saturday night and their menu is not that extensive.

I gave 3 stars because I've had good food there and I love the gift shop. However, they have the worst salads I've ever had, so I'll avoid those in the future. The last one I had - the house salad - was clumps of what appeared to be almost the core of iceberg lettuce. I pulled apart some of the leaves so I could eat them. It had one crouton, and no cheese. Hard clumps and tasteless. I told the waitress about it and she said she didn't make it. The baked potato wasn't very warm. The beans were soggy. Breakfast is good here but dinner is hit and miss. The waitress was unfriendly but other waitresses have been okay. I should have said take the salad back. When asked about how the dinner was I said it was hardly edible so they subtracted the price of the tea. In the future I'll probably just go for breakfast and browse the gift shop.

Man, I use to eat here back in the day. I gotta say that this place is going down hill. The "buttermilk pancakes" were so dry and the hash browns were barely cooked. Our server was ok, nothing spectacular. Cracker Barrel is just a nostalgic gift shop. I will not go back for breakfast. I'll try their dinner menu next

Maya greeted us with a smile and willing to assist. The biscuits and cornbread were delicious. The catfish was tasty and delicious. The two sides of rice and coleslaw were average. The rice was hard to chew and the coleslaw did not taste fresh. The meatloaf was burnt on the edges but the mashed potato and gravy with corn was just right. The music was great stuff. We went during an off time so the music column was perfect. We were rocking to the music.

Finally came back a little over 2 years later. Joined some family that came from out of town for a baseball game and came here for lunch. Had a bad experience previously but this time made up for it which caused for an updated review. The waitress said if you sign up for rewards we get a free appetizer. Each of us did and got 1 of each thing basically. Got the honey butter fried chicken which was amazing! Not dry at all and very flavorful. The Apple cinnamon spread on the biscuits were soo good! The store is always cool to walk around.

I love the atmosphere! It was so bright and open. I found it entertaining to look at the score, but not overwhelming. Our server Scarlett was helpful and friendly. The fried pickles weren't as good as I would have liked, because the batter was too thick, but my 11 thought they were great! They were brought out quickly. The dinner was as well. We all liked the biscuits, nice and buttery. The batter on the okra was much lighter than the pickles and much better! My burger patty really needed some seasoning as did the grits and fries. Hubby's steak was season well. I really want to like the food much more than I do! Service, atmosphere and cleanliness were so on point! The food is just not that great.

The food came out fast the server was kind and attentive. As much as she could be, she seemed pretty busy. Although there were things I was impressed with such as their cool Shop at the entrance. And the kind service. The food was unfortunately not great. We order a campfire dinner which is good for two, the chicken was tender but nothing great. We also ordered a chicken sandwich with fries also not great. But would honestly come back for the shop!

Phenomenal Service from Armand at Cracker Barrel! We had an absolutely amazing experience during our visit to Cracker Barrel today thanks to our exceptional server, Armand. From the moment we sat down, he delivered the kind of service you rarely find -- attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely caring. Armand anticipated our needs before we even voiced them. He brought extra napkins, condiments, and drink refills without us ever having to ask. He knew the menu inside and out and guided us with confidence and a warm, easygoing attitude that made our meal even more enjoyable. What really stood out was how wonderful he was with our kids. They asked for "to-go" cups of peach tea, and instead of treating it like an extra task, he made it fun for them and handled it with kindness and a smile. It's clear he truly loves his job and takes pride in serving others. Our food came out quickly, everything was correct, and Armand checked in consistently without ever being intrusive. His level of attentiveness and over-accommodation is the kind of service that turns a simple meal into a great memory. Cracker Barrel is lucky to have him -- and we will absolutely return because of the experience he provided. Highly, highly recommend asking for Armand!

Service was terrible. My waitress had 3 tables and I went the whole meal with empty beverage glass. They give you 3 large dry pancakes and you have to ask for syrup. Then they give you a tiny little bottle. I had to ask another waitress staff for another bottle and when my waitress brought it I had to point out my empty glass. I tried to do the survey and their website sends you to Drug Mart. Who's running this company, a DEI appointment? The ambiance was great.

Everything that you would expect. Comfort food, quality service and a cozy dine in experience. Got the sampler - two choice. More than enough food to feed just one person.

Took a long time for our food to come out. We ordered 4 things altogether. They biscuits and corn bread (complimentary) were cold and hard. The bacon in the salad was bad. The turkey was warm. The fried chicken was warm. I guess the food was ready, but our waitress didn't bother to check. She even asked, "Y'all didn't get your food yet?!" Well, unless I can go to the kitchen myself. Anyhow, this location is a 1 star.

I cant stay mad at Cracker Barrel. I need them more than they need me they reached out right away when they were closed and made things right! Thank you CB!

We had to stop on our way home from Kings Canyon. Cracker Barrel is a must. I really enjoyed the steak and eggs with a side of biscuits and gravy . The service by Lori was spot on! We love the old school ambiance of all Cracker Barrel restaurants.

Ordered the Grandpa's Fried Steak Breakfast with fried apples, and it was perfect. The fried steak was tender, crispy on the outside, and seasoned just right. It paired so well with the creamy gravy, which was rich but not overwhelming. The fried apples were a sweet and tangy side that complemented the savory steak beautifully. They were warm, perfectly spiced, and had that fresh-off-the-stove taste. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere had that cozy, rustic vibe that makes you feel right at home. If you're looking for a solid, satisfying breakfast that reminds you of classic Southern comfort, Cracker Barrel is the place to be. Highly recommended.

The ambiance was very old school farm country. As you walk in it has a little store. If you go to the left you can see the person waiting to help you get seated. The service was good. Nothing bad but also nothing that stood out. The food was good. Nothing fancy about it. Was a little salty for my liking. The fried chicken was very good , that was the best part . Very well made. The portion was perfect for me. I was recommend to try it. the special was worth the price.

The pancakes were great. The service was so sorry. Cool Little gift shop. It was just the server and her attitude. Might have been Staci, but I am not 100% sure. What I recommended maybe take out and not deal with the service, but it's not something that I would go out of my way to go to because of the service

Good ..... Meal BAD .... Server this is the 3rd time as we hesitate for that reason "Customer Service" NOT Satisfactory. She's always is in a rush as you're speaking to her as she continues walking away is so Unprofessional.

Their food isn't the healthiest, but that isn't why you come here. This is the ultimate comfort food. Their fried chicken is second to none. Great crispiness and well seasoned. Mac n cheese is creamey and delicious. My wife loves the chicken and dumplings. The meatloaf has green peppers in it, which turns me off, and their special Louisiana shrimp and rice serving size was surprisingly small and needed more sauce. They have a fun rustic atmosphere and the service is usually great.

I haven't been to any other Cracker Barrel locations in the past so this is my first-ever Cracker Barrel experience. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by their front store with lots of vintage items and candies, it just gives a certain feeling of nostalgia. Place was not packed at all when we came in on a Sunday afternoon. We were immediately seated and I ordered shrimp n' grits skillet. Fitst time having grits too. I enjoyed the dish, loved all the flavors and the parmesan bread that came with it. Companion had the chicken pot pie and it was just ultimate comfort food. Service was not too bad either. Would probably come back here and try their breakfast offerings next time.

Stopped at this Cracker Barrel as we were traveling from NorCal to SoCal. I've been to dozens of different locations in various states. Well, I'll have to say that the Bakersfield store on California Ave. was superior. The service was great (that's the usual), but the chicken and dumplings were hands-down the best I've ever had, large dumplings, just the right amount of fresh gravy, and tender chunks of chicken. The rest of the food was delicious too, prepared with pride.

We arrived Sunday, January 26, 2025, at about 1:30-45pm. This review does not reflect our server whatsoever. He was a super nice tall slim young gentleman and I feel horrible I don't remember his name. He had very intricate braids in his hair and he was the only positive thing I can say. As soon as we entered the building, we strolled through the gift shop for a few minutes, then we went to the hostess stand and asked for a table. There were two female employees, both had dark hair and one was wearing a pink zip up hoodie. Boy did she ever have a mouth on her. She was complaining and cursing about her shift and in front of the whole line of people said "they f*cking gave my shift to f*cking (whoever)" and we (party of 4) all stopped and dropped our jaws and looked at each other trying to figure out if what just happened was really happening. The other woman that was up there barely acknowledged us and then we were escorted to the dining room. The restaurant and gift shop and bathrooms were all clean, and our very nice waiter/server came to take our drink orders. He brought them promptly and then took our food orders. I ordered the hash brown casserole shepherds pie. This was my very first time in a Cracker Barrel and have heard over and over again how I "have to have the hash brown casserole! It's the best" and I wanted to try other things as well so that dish seemed the best choice. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak with white gravy, mashed potatoes and a cup of the chicken and dumpling soup. When our food was delivered, the hash brown casserole topping on my shepherds pie was so SO burnt, I couldn't believe it. It seemed like they were trying to make toffee/brittle/jerky with it. I peeled the top off and saw raw shreds of potato under it. Then I just decided to eat around it. I'm not sure if this was normal, but there was a dollop of mashed potato goop on the bottom but it was more like raw dough. The texture of it was so gross I couldn't even eat it. The sour cream on top had curdled and now I feel like it was bad. My husbands potatoes were like paste, the soup was like unseasoned yellow gelatin and he was only able to get down about 1/2 of his chicken fried steak. I tried a bite of his CFS and couldn't figure out what the weirdness of it I tasted was. Then I tried it again and I couldn't even pretend it was good. It's like it was frozen, cooked, put back in the fridge, and cooked again. The breading didn't have any chance of staying affixed to the steak. And I'm aware that this restaurant uses frozen items and nothing is made from scratch but I figured it would have at least been better quality. Such a bummer that this was my first experience here.

Was the worse plate I ever ate. Ordered biscuits and sausage and I got something that resemble it. Jimmy Deans are way better. Should have ate at home, Sausage was more like rubber. I won't be coming back.

I've been here a few times with my kids, the food has been very bland, had the fish, they charge now for refills I'd only return to the shop to buy some cute earrings or holiday decor

Stopped for early lunch on out way to the LA area for our Thanksgiving trip. Great service, but they had a "limited" menu so we couldn't order many of their usual offerings. My chicken fried steak was good, I especially liked the mac and cheese side. My wife's chicken tenders were great. Son really liked the hash brown casserole side. Prices for baseball/basketball cards in their country store were outrageous.

My experience at Cracker Barrel was genuinely amazing thanks to my server Jamie. He made my stressful day brighter with his positive attitude. The food was okay it definitely needs more spices for flavor. The atmosphere is very welcoming. Thank you Jamie for making my day better. I hope you enjoyed the $40 tip.

3 stars only because the food had little to no flavor the mash potato tasted like straight starch no flavor but the server was amazing gave him a 20$ tip James hart would recommend if you go with him very helpful but I had to add salt and pepper to almost every bite . Very disappointed in the food

Had a great breakfast with the family here before we left town! The service was great but the servers stopped checking on us and drinks stopped refilling when the plates were cleared guess they wanted us out lol. The food quality was great tho hot and fresh! The pancakes were hot fluffy and slight crisp on the edges just perfect. The french toast was rich with flavor and that syrup it came with omagosh... My fam totally enjoyed their sugar ham and biscuits and gravy i stole their food it was great too! Will definitely be back.

I would rate the service a 5, but the overall food is just okay. Nothing special really. They have a nice gift shop to go along with the restaurant. Not badly priced, as you do get decent portions, but you can get the same food any other breakfast place

First off the food was great! But this review is about the service or lack there of. When I tell you my waiter was sooo bad, trust me his service ruined the whole experience. I won't bore you with the details but what I will say is based off of watching the other waiters/ waitresses who were executing flawlessly I'm sure it was just my waiter who was lousy.

The burnouts are super awesome in the parking lot! Perfect street, looks great. Lots of smoke. Server is smoking, food is smoking, god bless America! Rep the hood of USA and eat at Cracker Barrel! 11/5 Couldn't rate this place higher!

We walked into crackla barrel and the person who took our order Maddie was amazing she was so nice such a amazing experience.

Great food! The service was quick and efficient. Eggs and bacon were crisp and well made. We plan to go back and sample the goodies at the country store.

We had really poor service. The waitress didn't get our order right and gave us attitude when we said it wasn't what we'd ordered. My husband and I each ordered a soda and halfway through the meal we needed a refill. We finally got her attention after several minutes and asked her for refills but she never brought them. It was our grandson's birthday and she'd told him early on he would get a dessert but she also never brought that...even when we reminded her. We finally left, thirsty and annoyed. When I asked the checkout person if they could take the sodas off the ticket because we'd never gotten refills he said he had to ask his manager. When the manager came he said he couldn't do it without asking someone above him. I said that this was all ridiculous and I just paid and left upset and frustrated.

Visited Cracker Barrel again today. Still has great service and great food. The waitress was great and made sure drinks were filled. The store was a little boring this time. They had a little 4th of July decor and Halloween stuff. What a combo. A have a hard time shopping for Halloween decor when it's 108 outside. But overall, it was another good visit.

Second trip to Cracker Barrel. Prices are good and the meals are great. Don't forget to pick up your blackberry cobbler and dumplings mix on the way out.

Came here early Sunday so no wait. It's very conveniently located off the freeway so it was the perfect stop before we headed back to LA. I ordered the steak and egg hash brown casserole and wow! It's so flavorful and delicious! Pancakes were fluffy and had a sweet crispy layer on top! Biscuits and gravy was good but gravy needed more pepper and flavor. My only gripe is the menu calls for thick bacon and it was super thin and flavorless. Service was fast and friendly and I like the peg game to pass time before the meal comes. Place was clean and gift shop is cute!

Came here for my mom's birthday lunch, so we ordered a lot of food! It was my parents first time, so it took a while to order, but our server Chris, was really patient. I wanted to try the Broccoli Cheese Casserole, which was advertised for this season, but they were out of it. I was a bit bummed since I was looking forward to it. Not sure if they "ran out" for the day, but to give you an idea of the time of day of this visit, it was lunchtime on a Sunday in January. To put things in perspective, it was not too busy. The service was good, food was decent, and the ambiance was homey. I think what would've made the visit better or even stellar would be to include dipping sides with the chicken or fries, as they seemed a bit dry. I will say that the biscuits were very delicious, especially when they are hot and fresh out of the oven.

Always been a fan of this chain restaurant. Been wanting a Cracker Barrel restaurant in my hometown for years now. It has been over a year since they opened in Bakersfield, and we finally got an opportunity to give them a try. This branch looks like all the other ones we've visited all over the country. I like those rocking chairs sitting on their patio outside. The country store is cool, but I was disappointed they did not have my favorite candy bar that I've always been able to purchase at their other old country stores. The decor inside is like all the others as well. I like it. We were seated right away. Don't know if they get busy, but there were plenty of available tables on a Saturday at Noon time. How was the service? Our server was alright. The cashiers could be better. One person was assisting the customer ahead of me, but was talking a lot to the customer even after the transaction was finished. I was waiting at least 5 minutes for them to finish talking. There were about 3 other employees behind the counter, but none of them assisted me. They were having their own conversation among themselves. How was the food? Started with the Biscuit Beignets. That was underwhelming. It tasted stale, and it was hard. Good thing it was free for signing up on their App. I was so excited to order their pancakes! So, I ordered my favorite entree which is Momma's Pancake Breakfast. It comes with (3) buttermilk pancakes, eggs, bacon or sausage, and their homemade syrup. Never been too impressed with their eggs, bacon, or sausage which is all pretty ordinary. Have always loved their pancakes, though. Oh I was so DISAPPOINTED with the pancakes I received. They did not taste nearly as good as the ones I've had at their other locations. There had always been a bit of crispiness to the edges of the buttermilk pancakes that I've always enjoyed. The pancakes I received that day was not like that. It tasted like buttermilk pancakes that I could get at McDonald's. Due to this disappointing experience, it is doubtful that I will be a regular at my hometown Cracker Barrel. Maybe we will give them another opportunity, but it will be awhile. Will patronize them this chain outside Bakersfield, though.

Food absolutely had no flavor.. did not leave impressed. Did not live up to the hype.

Finally got a chance to stop by last weekend and give this place a try. The staff was a bit slow and not super welcoming but they did get us seated fairly quickly. The biscuit benny was really good, I enjoyed that and it's something I'd definitely come back for. The food came out pretty quick and everything was hot. My dad really enjoyed his pancakes as well and liked the hot syrup bottle they give you with it. My wife didn't love the grits, I tried them and they were definitely overcooked. It wasn't the best experience but it wasn't awful either, I'd come back and give it another go one day.

The pancakes are what you need to try! The food is amazing and so is the service. Very welcoming and you get biscuits and gravy for the table. If you sign up, you can get a free bites dish which we got the beignets.

Very cute shop connected to the restaurant. The wait time for the food was acceptable and immediate. Food came out fresh and hot. Beignets had a bit too much sugar but overall service and food was good

Food: I ordered Chicken n' Dumplings with macaroni n' cheese and premium buttermilk pancake. They come with Handrolled buttermilk Biscuits. I personally really enjoyed everything that I ordered. The chicken n dumpling was light, fluffy and tender. The buttermilk pancake is fluffy but also had a slight crisp to it. The handrolled buttermilk biscuit was soo good. Service: Good. There's a "Jump all but one" game on the table for your entertainment. Ambiance: Casual breakfast vibe. * You can scan the QR code on your receipt to pay online. I find this so convenient.

Celebrated my graduation here. Our waitress did a great job with handling a large party. Out of all the locations I been to, this location had the smallest portions. The hashbrown casserole barely fit in the palm of my hand. Besides that we didn't we any issues. I will return.
