Artifact Restaurant Opens Inside the Mingei Museum at Balboa Park | Eater San Diego

"Operated by Urban Kitchen Group as the Mingei’s more casual on-site option, the Craft Cafe shares the museum’s ground floor with the restaurant and gift shop and also functions as the museum’s on-site caterer." - Candice Woo

What a great cafe! I tried the breakfast pizza-egg, bacon, potato & cheese- for me it was just alright, not much bacon. The mocha was beautiful and yummy- nice coffee flavor- not overbearing with chocolate- perfect and fancy!

I love this place! It’s hard to find a cafe that focuses on gluten-free food, and these guys really do it well. My favorite things to order are their broccoli cheddar quiche, avocado toast, lentil soup, and golden girl latte. I also ordered a custom carrot cake last year for a birthday and it was fantastic! Sometimes it’s hard to find a seat because they’re so busy, but I’m ok with that. If the weather is nice, the sidewalk seating outside is very enjoyable.

Found this gem today on a bike ride to St Pete. Perfect coffee stop. Also has a loaded bakery, juices and good looking menu. I only tried the coffee and juices today but will be back to try the rest.

One of my favorite breakfast spots downtown. I don't have celiac or gluten intolerances so I typically don't go for GF foods since they usually are a little "off" compared to standard wheat based baked goods but wow these guys made me a big fan. Their breakfast pizzas, quiche and cinnamon rolls in particular are my favourites. They also make excellent coffees. Even if you don't usually like gluten free foods you should for sure check this place out!

Everything served fresh and piping hot :-) My omelette was cooked to perfection, and so were the potatoes. My father got pancakes and rather than stacking them they put them around the plate and he got three times the toppings! Orders are large enough that you will be full the entire day. One couple was splitting their order. Homemade pastries homemade pizzas fresh tea to order they sell in bulk. The coffee is delicious. And the service is so personable. Everyone works with Integrity here. And they are so kind. I'm super excited for the Skyway location to open soon.

My whole family is gluten free, so I ordered a pecan pie for our thanksgiving and it was AMAZING. I want to eat it everyday. Perfectly sweet, crust was crispy but not crumbly, pecan forward but not too much so. Yum yum yum

I was surprised by how many vegan baked goods they had. I only got one photo because everything else disappeared fast. I ordered two vegan truffles, a matcha latte with coconut milk, the galaxy bar, cranberry orange loaf, and a V. cookie. The cranberry orange loaf—one of the first pastries they ever made—was really good. The galaxy bar and the loaf were my favorites. The matcha truffle ball was a little dry, but still had decent flavor. The cashier was patient and friendly, walked me through all the vegan options, and even let me sample the Kyoto drip. Strong stuff, but I liked it. The matcha latte was smooth and balanced, clearly made with ceremonial-grade matcha and coconut milk that paired well. I didn’t stay long since I was just passing through the area, but I’ll be stopping by again when I’m back in town. And to the staff member who noticed my shirt and almost had it—Element 39 is Yttrium.
