After hiking, all I want to do is sit down and enjoy a good meal, a cold beer and good company.
When we found Craft kitchen on Yelp, we were super excited. The view of the mill was amazing, the food sounded delicious, good beers on tap, nothing else I felt that I could ask for to be honest.
We entered the restaurant looking for the regular "Wait To Be Seated" sign but didn't see anything. I noticed a guy standing at a counter at the far end of the counter smiling at us, but no other acknowledgement besides that. We walked over and let him know there was three of us and he handed us each a menu and told us that we order at that counter with him. Understandable, Tilt does it, lots of places do.
I order first, Pork belly Cubano and a Log Rider Red. I had him my card and he hands it back to me and tells me we pay at the end. Not really standard of practice for this kind of set up, but alright I'll roll with it, I'm starving.
My friends ordered the Chicken waffles tapas and Blackened Shrimp Po Boy. They also ordered the Strawberry Lemon Kombucha that was on tap.
We go outside and find a nice table, a waitress brings us some waters and asked us if we had already ordered. This is where the set up gets confusing for me. Why would she ask that if everyone has to order up front? Whatever, still starving let's move on. Two minutes later, the guy in the front comes out to tell us that they no longer have the Kombucha. One friend ordered the Strawberry Lime something that involves sorbet. The other a regular southern sweet tea. Both drinks were pretty good. My beer on the other hand was only filled half way up the class.
Food wise, my sandwich and my other friend's sandwich were okay, but the chicken and waffles, drenched in a vinegary jus left something to be deserved. The waffle was soggy, but the chicken was okay.
This is where our meal went south. My friend ordered a sweet tea because she thought it was delicious. We didn't know there was an alcoholic one and the waitress did not ask. My friend tasted it and it happened to be the alcoholic one. She is pregnant. We told a waitress and she immediately grabbed it and apologized. But our waitress kind of just brushed it off "I was just trying to make sure you guys had a good time".
Our bill was another disaster that I couldn't understand. If we all had to order separately then why did we not get three separate bills? And they charged us for the kombucha in place of the other drinks, and it took honestly 15 minutes to get anything straightened out and for us to finally get our sort of corrected bill.
I love the food, hate the set up and I just feel the staff really need to be more careful about what they are giving people.
