Where to Eat and Drink During Yakima’s Fresh Hop Ale Festival - Eater Seattle

"Crafted is a sleek modern eatery in Yakima offering seasonal menu items like elk tartare and carrot-top pesto garganelli. Diners who can’t choose should try the multi-course chef’s menu for a comprehensive dining experience, washed down with quality wine or cocktails that are as pretty as they are inventive." - Alisha McDarris

Upon entering, one immediately understands the concept of this place. It is aesthetically and conceptually well thought out, delivering a unique experience. While it is not fine dining, it is designed for enjoying a good time with the people who matter most, sharing both the experience and the dishes. Every detail is meticulously curated, from the furniture to the water bottles, napkins, plates, and candles. The menu is incredibly creative, and the food we enjoyed was exceptional. The customer service was outstanding. The staff checked in with us at just the right intervals and noticed that our appetizers were taking longer to arrive than they deemed acceptable. Without us even needing to mention it, they graciously brought us an asparagus plate on the house. They even repacked the remaining food for us without us having to ask. The food itself is very high-quality, local, and seasonal. I really want to give this a perfect 10, but I had to rate it a three instead. The reason is the chipped plates. This is unacceptable for any restaurant, especially one of this caliber. It’s not just about the appearance; the chips and cracks can create crevices where food particles and bacteria accumulate. This makes them difficult to clean and can potentially harbor harmful microorganisms. Another thing is that restaurants are supposed to provide a scoop when serving ice, as outlined in food safety guidelines. This is crucial for maintaining hygiene and preventing contamination. Unfortunately, this was not done, and I had to use my hands instead. Additionally, I recommend serving gin and Chartreuse chilled. The otherwise perfectly crafted cocktail I enjoyed was slightly warm. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone; it is phenomenal. Before that is done, I hope the management improves their sanitary standards as soon as possible.

My friends had tried the 7-course chef's menu at this restaurant before and thought it was amazing, so even though it was a bit out of the way for our weekend road trip, they brought me here specifically. And it was indeed incredibly delicious! My friends were also pleasantly surprised to find that every dish, except for the dessert, was different from what they had before, but just as delicious! The seafood appetizers were extremely fresh, the steak was cooked to perfection, and the pasta and fish were uniquely and wonderfully seasoned. We loved and enjoyed every single dish! The dessert was a bit too sweet for me, but it was beautifully presented with a unique fragrance. The price is very affordable for fine dining. We were joking that you can only have the two appetizers for the same price & quality in Seattle. I will definitely come back, and I highly recommend it to anyone who has the chance to pass by! Also the service was so great, especially after we had some bad experiences in other restaurants during our road trip...

If you want good quality bang for your buck food, McDonald’s is right next to this place. I understand they change the menu and I am one all for good food no matter the price. I came with my family for an anniversary dinner and all of us were just disappointed. From the food being bland to the drinks being mid. My dad loves coffee and could not drink his coffee as it was stronger than the Incredible Hulk. For what you’re paying I expect good quality coffee, again McDonald’s is next door. If you’re going to spend around $350 plus tip I expect for the table of 6 to leave full and content. From the smallest portions to the bland food I will never come back. The service was not great either as they took forever to come back to us to check in time and again. The building is nice and modern and lively. We ordered this ravioli dish and there was barely any filling and all you could taste was under cooked mouth full of dough, actually I can’t say mouthful because only 1 ravioli per person as this is a kind of sharing type restaurant. The curry, bland. This bread with weird sauce and just I don’t even know, bland. All in all, bad experience, way too expensive and I do not recommend coming here. We did in fact grab a burger from McDonald’s after. I will not be back here, and I do not recommend this place. (Please excuse tiny the best pictures) I was blown away at the lack of everything I just couldn’t remember to take good pictures.

When I walked in, it was a lot louder than I expected. That is literally my only "complaint". The staff is super attentive without hovering, and incredibly welcoming! I went in wanting the full experience and got the Chef's Menu. My only disappointment was that I got so full I had to take most of the last few courses and dessert home! I will 100% be back here (with help!). The food is absolutely incredible, and so fresh!! The staff is so kind and helpful!! I am an introvert who got the courage up to try this, and I am so glad that I did!! 100% recommend!!

Google
First I’ll say the food was outstanding & the service was incredible. Loved everything we ordered from the cocktails through to dessert. Can’t possibly say enough good things about the food. Two things that could be improved: 1. the high noise level impeded conversation. And caused the people at the next table to talk so loudly I could hear parts of their conversation. 2 some nice, tasteful, modern silverware, rather than the flimsy seemingly second hand silverware, would enhance the visual experience for customers, as well as more accurately reflect the quality of the food served. Look forward to eating here again

Our meal and service, from start to finish was really a great experience! I drove two hours to eat here, after following them a long while on social media, and was a little nervous my expectations were too high, but not so. Started with a cocktail, some oysters, had several starters, moved on to the steak and then to dessert--all were perfectly seasoned and delicious! We sat at the Chef's Table and it was fun to see them working together seamlessly, and enjoying what they're doing. And it was a Monday and they were very busy. I would highly recommend this place and will absolutely be back! Come hungry and order through as much of the menu as you can, it's all delightful!

An absolute experience above the rest. If you live in Yakima and haven't visited Crafted, you are missing out. If you are visiting Yakima and Crafted isn't on your list, I recommend adding it. The location is easy to get to. Close to the downtown Yakima hotels. A greeting with a smile as you come in setting the mood for a welcoming dining experience. This will be a part of your visit that you won't soon forget. The changing menu gives it the fresh new taste that you can always come to expect that something amazing is awaiting you. Seated at the bar top by the kitchen I was able to watch how the kitchen team worked so well together to craft each dish. Taking passion in what they do. Striking up conversation with you, making you feel at home. The first dish was the scallops. Perfectly cooked. I have never pictured scallops as a fall dish, but after the presentation and the flavors packed into it, I can't think of fall now without thinking of the savory pine nuts paired with the scallops. Drinks were perfectly paired and followed by the chocoflan. The staff giving recommendations that didn't disappoint. You can feel the environment there is one that they enjoy being in and each of them treated me with the friendliest demeanor. Not feeling that I was just being assigned to one person and feeling a cold attitude from the rest. No. Here they all worked together to create a welcoming atmosphere to pair with the amazing food. I look forward to coming again and trying what other flavor packed dishes they come up with.

Chefs table at Crafted is a must. The 7 course for 2 is more than you could eat. Accommodating, welcoming, and staff with a friendly energy that makes you feel a part of the team.

Yelp
You might find foods that are not to your taste, but you will NEVER get a bad meal...farm to table with shareable plates, and an ever changing menu (with a few favorites that come with the seasons - stuffed squash blossoms!). The drinks and desserts are to die for and the ambiance and staff are kind and very considerate: truly top-notch!!
google avatar

Yelp
Locally sourced farm to table options can bring dog on patio seating. Good options for fresh cherries during that time of year.

Yelp
My Review: Great service, lovely ambiance, and DELICIOUS food. You can't beat the freshness as this is a farm to table restaurant. They change the menu frequently it seems. They sat us right away at the bar even though we did not have a reservation. I very much enjoyed my drink and looking over the very unique menu. Although it is very expensive I'd like to give is another go and try more from the menu. My Husbands Review: My husband was disappointed with crafted. The portion sizes are pretty small despite the server saying 1 plate would like be enough for us to share. We had planned to likely get 2 plates to try more of the menu, but for the price it just wasn't worth it. It was 50$ for the brisket. While it was delicious, it wasn't special enough for 50 dollars. So if you're hungry and looking to get full for 2 you're looking at well over 100 dollars. Just a heads up!

Yelp
This is my second time at crafted and the first time I have had a main course. I tried chef's menu and it was worth the hype! Each of the seven courses were had distinct flavor profiles that were dynamic and left you wanting more. Just when you thought you couldn't eat anymore or like something better the chef surprised would surprise us again! The dessert combined different textures and flavors and was incredible! This dining experience was incredible and worth it! I hope to back again soon! Shoutout and a giant thank you to the whole team at Crafted! I was scheduled to be on the patio but it was Smokey due to wildfires and it was triple digits hot. The host and the waiters and waitresses were fantastic and worked as a team to have us sit inside! We were able to enjoy each course out of the smoke!

Yelp
Nice ambiance, great service, but the food was hit-or-miss. The highs were high (mackerel with roasted/smashed potatoes, pickled radish and cucumbers - a real wow -- and that fried burrata/ asparagus), but the lows were low (octopus "sashimi" (which is not actually raw, just fyi), salmon, pork and dessert). While the fish was generally prepared well (medium flesh, hard sear on the skin), the accompaniments to the salmon and the octopus were super sweet/lacking in much needed acid for balance. The pork was over-cooked/dry - the pic speaks for itself (but the kitchen was slammed and we didn't feel comfortable asking for a re-fire). The dessert was a meh for me - it was billed as a lemon tart, but the sourness of the lemon was so muted. It felt like a dish that someone who doesn't like lemon might prepare under protest. I think we could give Crafted another try though, based on the strengths of the two dishes we enjoyed, and the exceptional service. It might just have been a wobbly night for the kitchen.

Yelp
SERIOUSLY one of the best dinners I have had in a long time - elk tartare - zucca pasta - holy basil beef I typically never even consider ordering pasta in a restaurant as it doesn't usually meet our dining out "rules" - eat local, no chains - can't make it at home However, Noah (our server) recommended it...... & he was NOT wrong

Yelp
This is the second time we have dined at Crafted and this place does NOT disappoint! We are from the west side and I have dined at 5 star restaurants across the country and last night was the best meal I have ever eaten. We had the Salmon, New York Steak, and finished with the Miso Corn Cake for Desert. Do not miss this gem!

Yelp
The restaurant is nice and quaint. The food was delicious. Jennifer was sweet and very accommodating.

Yelp
Found this quaint place while looking for parking in Yakima. We tried to get a walk in table the night we walked past but they were full so we made a reservation for a few nights later. We ordered for the table: Knafeh Steak Tartare Salmon Crudo Tagliatelle Pasta Duck Ribolita Chaliapin Steak Blackberry and Tamarind Sorbet Personal opinion on the dishes.... I've had knafeh in Israel so I don't know if it's a fair comparison but I would have like the knafeh at Crafted to have more of a crust. I know the original is cooked a bit longer in a cast iron pan so that you do get some more caramelization with the simple syrup. As for the steak tartare. I'm a huge fan of well done steak tartares and I had no issues with the one here. I did feel that all the toppings for the salmon crudo did overpower the salmon a bit. I'm all for garlic chips but if you had the garlic chips with the salmon, you didn't really taste the salmon anymore. The tagliatelle with duck confit was a definite winner for me and something I would order again. I probably should have looked up the word ribolita but not knowing what that word meant till later and based on the description, it was not what I was expecting. You did get a lot more of the white mean flavor than the duck flavor for me. It wasn't bad but not something I would order again. The steak chaliapin was cooked to a good temp. A bit too much caramelized onion for me so I moved a lot of it to the side. The rice seemed to be just a tad over for my preference as it was almost mushy. The blackberry sorbet was great. I do wish the tamarind sorbet had some hints of chili in it. I did ask for a side of chili but I was given paprika. The smokey-ness didn't hurt the sorbet, but I think the chili would have complemented the sweetness more. All in all, if I was in the area again, I probably would go back to see what other seasonal dishes they had at that time.

Yelp
on't have the vocabulary to express the quality of food and expression of flavors that you'll find at Crafted. I'm so proud of Dan and his family for what they've built out in Yakima, it was an amazing eating experience and I can't wait to be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Almost made the mistake of getting dessert some place else. It was amazing along with the service and drinks. It's cutely decorated for the holidays. It's pricey but worth it. They come up with flavors that explode in your mouth!

Yelp
I love the food here. Always changing, always fresh. Always delicious! The cocktail list is thorough but not hokey and the wine list is well balanced. Every time I'm in Yakima, I come here for dinner!

Yelp
There aren't words to describe how amazing this place is! We've been here twice now and have reservations for next month...the food (and drinks) are absolutely incredible. So thoughtful and cooked beautifully. Chef Dan has done a wonderful job with the space, the staff, and the menu. Looking forward to our next meal...as always!

Yelp
Outstanding food great cocktails good wine list. The ambience and staff are very inviting. Open Sunday and Monday evenings so if you're traveling from out of town that's a great option for dinner. If they have Sturgeon on the menu don't miss out!!!

Yelp
Our Airbnb hosts recommended this spot and we're SO glad they did! Genuinely one of the best meals I've ever had! Everything from the service, to the ambiance, to the drinks and especially the food! This place focuses on fresh ingredients from locally sourced vendors...and it shows! The dishes are unique and provide a sense of comfort and purpose in knowing you're eating local! If you're in the Yakima area and want an exquisite dining experience, hit up Crafted!

Yelp
Overall 3.5. A good experience, but expectations were set at "great". FOOD 3.5: We had the set menu with paired wines; if we come again we will order a la carte. Surprised us to learn that the contents of the set menu are created on-the-fly as one dines, and thus are unknown when one sits down. (We surmised that perhaps this provides the team some flexibility to serve lower-demand items as part of the set menu.) Everything was good or very good, but no "wows". Quantity was certainly sufficient: the dishes increased in size as the courses came out, and we could not finish the final pre-dessert item. WINE 3.0: Paired wines were ok, though no explanation was given about why each wine was paired with each of the one or two dishes it was served with. (This might be because the food courses are created on the fly and thus some pairings seemed odd.) If we dine here again we will request the separate wine list. COFFEE 5.0: The after-dinner espresso I had was outstanding. SERVICE 4.0: Every staff member we encountered was friendly and sincere. The contents of each course was explained by the server who brought it out, but the acoustics of the restaurant (described below under AMBIANCE) meant we often could not hear the description. As for the wines, other than label (or country of origin) and varietal there was no explanation. (We posed a question to a server about one of the wines and received a vague response; after the server departed the diner seated next to us provided a complete answer.) AMBIANCE 2.5: The high pressed-tin ceiling was attractive, but the hard surfaces all around amplified the music and dinner conversations into a loud cacophony.

Yelp
We did the chef's 7 course meal and it was amazing. The highlights were the asparagus salad, the steak and the dessert. But it was all delicious. You should definitely try it!

Yelp
Crafted is a very special in Yakima. Always friendly staff, carefully selected ingredients and ever changing menu that always knocks it out of the park and tasty cocktails. A MUST go when visiting.

Yelp
Fabulous food and service. We go one or two times per year as it is a bit pricey. A restaurant that has a loyal staff and patrons. The local farm to table cuisine is prepared expertly.

Yelp
I'd love to leave a wordy review about this bright, welcoming spot, but I am way too full and happy to linger on my phone. Everything was off-the-hook delicious (including the thoughtful cocktails) and the service was simply outstanding. Just go already...

Yelp
My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and decided to try this place out. I have heard good things about it and thought this would be a special treat to enjoy a nice dessert to wrap up our evening. The atmosphere was wonderful and the servers were polite and attentive. We ordered the cheesecake which sounded and looked amazing. This is where it took a horrible turn. As we were waiting for our dessert we both proceeded to watch 2 workers trying to cut the cake. Both were not wearing gloves and were both touching the cake as they cut it. My wife who has an autoimmune disorder needs to be more cautious to exposure of potential sources of infection became immediately upset in watching this. Myself as a medical professional also became upset at watching this. When the server came to deliver the dessert we politely declined it and explained why. The server completely understood and took the dessert away and tried his best to rectify the situation. We appreciated his efforts. I have no doubt they wash their hands but I would have expected better from a restaurant of this caliber. The menu looked amazing and sounds amazing and I would love to take my wife back and enjoy some of their food. But after witnessing what had happened we definitely have a sour taste in our mouth to return.

Yelp
Food is consistently fantastic, a ton of fun! Service is friendly. Upscale in Yakima.

Yelp
Small expensive portions. Had a reservation for a birthday, server was completely clueless. The menu stated dishes were meant to be shared, we ordered 7 dishes to share but apparently we should've ordered 14. We all left very hungry. Ordered a cake through crafted, the server was clueless when I asked to have the cake brought out; we waited 45min and were completely ignored during this, we would've liked to order more drinks (we only had 1 round) but were never asked. When the server appeared again, without the cake I asked if we could just take it to go. Spent over $300. This evening was meant to be a special occasion but left us all feeling as if we had burdened the restaurant with our presence, it was a monday night and where we were seated was not even at 50% capacity.
google avatar

Adam D.

Yelp
I've been here twice and the second experience was much better than the first. On the second go-around, we split the following: - Oysters - Bread - Asparagus - Sturgeon - Pork belly - S'mores - Peanut butter cupcake - Tiramisu Everything - all meant to be shared - was delicious. The menu changes frequently. There is a chef's tasting option with wine pairing, but everyone at the table has to participate. The cocktails at $14 each are strong and well ... crafted. The three of us escaped with a $225 bill. Not bad considering the variety, quality and ambiance. This place was highly recommended by many local vineyards and it's easy to understand why. This is Napa-quality food in under-rated Yakima Valley. Reservations highly encouraged.

Alessandra ..

Yelp
The service was GREAT! We had everything we needed on time and our drinks were never empty. The food was good. I wish it was a bit better for the price though. We did the Chefs special and I paired it with the win pairing. I wish I asked to switch some stuff out for the 7-course meal. I was not a fan of the caramel/Peanut butter dessert. The ambiance was good! we went in jeans and T-shirts but I also felt we could have dressed up too! It wasn't too loud and it was cozy. I wouldn't recommend sitting at the bar for an anniversary dinner because I am more of a face-to-face diner.
google avatar

Yelp
Drinks are great! I have a simple pallet so over all this place is not for me when it comes to food. But it's got cute vibes inside

Yelp
This is THE gem of Yakima. Easily the best restaurant this city has to offer. I have frequented Crafted plenty of times and every dish has been impressive. I always get the scallops. The menu changes frequently based on local produce, which makes every dining experience a little different and full of surprises. Some of my favorite dishes have been the scallops, Vietnamese inspired halibut, the crispy rice salad, and the choco flan. I DREAM of the choco flan and wish it was on the menu all the time! The service is always amazing, everyone is super friendly and they will take the time to talk to you if you are sitting at the counter. They have a chef's menu option where they choose a selection of dishes for you, which I have done before. I usually go with some friends and we'll choose a number of dishes and share it family style. This is the perfect restaurant for a date night or for any type of celebration. I can't believe this restaurant is in Yakima, it can compete with any restaurant in a bigger city like Seattle. Come with an empty stomach and expect to leave with a full and happy tummy!

Yelp
I honestly loved it here. From the minute we came in the hostess was smiling and knew exactly who we were because of our reservation time. We were seated in the dining room and the server came over quickly to introduce himself to us. I appreciated that he realized it was a bit loud in the dining room and he had explained that they had several big parties but if we wanted to change where we were sitting he offered if we would like to sit outside in the patio area which was much more quiet. Sitting outside in the patio area was very nice! The specialty drinks were very yummy! I had ordered the fluffy rhubarb and my boyfriend ordered the soggy dollar, both were so so delicious. We ordered the hamachi crudo, steak tartar, the toast, campelle pasta, the salmon and we ordered four different deserts. Everything was so tasty and I was very satisfied with everything. I have zero complaints about anything from beginning to end. The toast was absolutely scrumptious, especially with the cherries! The salmon was cooked perfectly and to my surprise the grilled grapefruit was yummy with it. (I was a little skeptical at first). We all agreed that we would come back and try the chefs 7 course menu. The desert was such a good end to our night. He had ordered the apple crisp and I ordered the raspberry opera cake.
google avatar

Andria H.

Yelp
It was easy to make an online reservation and we sat upstairs with a view of the kitchen and bar. It's so nice to see the food being prepared and the drinks being crafted. The menu is local, seasonal and shareable. We tried the 7 course tasting menu and it was very generous portions. We had a table of 4 and the entire table participates with a per person price. There is also an optional wine pairings. But, what I really liked is that many of the courses were served per couple. So my SO and I shared a portion and our friends shared the other portion. Also, I love food but I started to get a bit full around course 5. If I remember correctly it was oyster, bread/cheese, veggies, seafood, pasta, steak and then dessert. So pace yourselves better than we did! They were lovely and boxed things up for us because of course we inhaled everything they sent us early on. I don't live in Yakima, but I will definitely be back when I visit!

Yelp
Exceptional!! We sat at the counter and it was so fun to watch the chefs work. The service was friendly - Zane was attentive and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. The food was delicious- deserving of all the James Beard praise. The pappardelle pasta and the sturgeon were our favorites. Such a perfect meal!

Yelp
If you ever find yourself traveling through Yakima, Washington you definitely don't want to miss this fabulous restaurant. Crafted was AMAZING! We stopped in on our way home from Seattle. We ordered the Duck and Pear sorbet. the duck was perfectly cooked and the puréed squash was delicious! The pear sorbet was tasty. You can actually taste the pear in it. All ingredients were fresh and supplied by local farms. Oh and I can't forget the service....it's so nice to get actual good service these days...the staff is well educated on the menu and very friendly. I will be back.

Yelp
I can't even type enough about this place. If you are a foodie, I want you to come here even if you have to drive 30 miles. It's hard to get a reservation here. They're closed Tuesday and Wednesdays. However, it's worth the drive and the wait to get in.
google avatar

Tom M.

Yelp
I had the pork belly and it was delicious. It was the service that I was amazed at and how I could watch the cooks making my order. It was like watching a cooking show! I felt like I had to talk to the chef and tell him that they should put in a live feed for their website. Sitting at the bar by myself was not boring. I loved watching the meals being created with precision and care. If I can watch food being prepared, I am less nervous about the freshness and cleanliness of the kitchen. Bon Aperitif!

Yelp

Yelp
The experience was absolutely wonderful the dishes were fresh and presented well drinks were made well and I highly recommend for anyone interested in making a good impression on a date or simply enjoy a enjoyable experience with significant other.

Yelp
Bartender made me an aperol sour that was so delicious and even came over to the table to make sure i enjoyed the off menu cocktail our server Noah was so attentive and personable. Ordered the potatoes so yummy tons of flavor. If you like savory flavors get the ice cream flight, must try the basil ice cream. Visiting from Seattle and this place would give them a run for their money

Yelp
Delicious food and excellent service! Can't wait to take my husband for dinner. I have fond memories of every course.

Yelp
There were no tables available, so we were forced to sit at the bar. However, the service was friendly and attentive. They did not treat us like we were stupid when we did not know what the menu was telling us about. The food was excellent.

Yelp
Amazing spot in the world! Loved every bite, every morsel, every glass of vino & every dessert. Take time to hit this place up, it's a worthwhile adventure.

Yelp
Excellent steak. Drinks done well. The rest was OK and the service commensurate with pricing.

Yelp
Always a fantastic dining experience, service is wonderful and the ambiance is as well. Every time we go in we sample something totally different and exiting as well as fresh and highlighting local goodies. Great place for mothers day this weekend too, mom loved it. No wonder Chef was nominated for a James Beard, this is a gem in Yakima. Elevated and lovely. Next we will try the tasting menu!

Yelp
We are spoiled in Seattle by many wonderful chefs and restauranteurs so when out traveling good food can be an issue, we all been there. Crafted is worth driving to from Seattle! The head chef and owner (husband and wife) have created a modern, calm, respectful, local sourced, fabulous, innovative menu from within. Ambiance Crafted has created, is unique and my girlfriend and I still talk about the food and how this restaurant was run, you are my heroes and inspiration - thank you!

Yelp
This is a truly special spot in Yakima. I walked in early for dinner, and was able to be seated at the bar immediately. That was lucky! They seemed incredibly busy with no open seats all night. The bartender was very nice and made some great drinks, and dinner was so delicious. I waited the required 15 minutes for the apple crisp to be made fresh, best decision I've ever made.
google avatar

Yelp
Best food in Yakima. The experience and ambiance is also the best in Yakima. I believe if this restaurant was on the west side of the mountains it would be booked out for months. Everyone should take the opportunity to try this restaurant. We had the downstairs room it was really private.

Yelp
It makes sense that chefs like Jeremiah Tower, Anthony Bourdain and Alice Waters would find fertile ground for a new cuisine in LA, New York or the San Francisco Bay Area. Choosing Yakima, Washington, however, seems a lot more risky. Which makes the success story behind Crafted, co-owned and operated by husband and wife, Dan and Mollie Koommoo, even more impressive. The secret, Mollie says, is that they started small, catering special events to establish their reputation and potential funding. Their goal was to create a restaurant that could be hip, sophisticated and welcoming at the same time, which Crafted is. It's the kind of place where people that have never met strike up conversations, share menu and cocktail suggestions, even exchange bites. Dishes are meant to be shared. And if you sit at the Chef's Counter you can watch the wizardry at work led by artistry of Chef Dan. The flavor profiles are literally all over the map, from Butternut Squash & Feta Dip (with toasted pecans, peppers, local honey and sourdough) to Korean BBQ Cauliflower followed by Braised Snake River Farms Beef. And while Crafted offers a variety of desserts, skip directly to the mini campfire S'more made from tiny homemade marshmallows, piled sticks of chocolate smoked with burning wood chips and served in a bell jar! No visit to Yakima is complete without sharing the Crafted experience. As Dan and Mollie say, "We want our guests to feel welcomed into our restaurant, as they would be into our home." FYI, Reservations are a must!

Yelp
Heard about this place from all the buzz. This place just received another James Beard nom and from what I can tell, rightfully so. Food was interesting and executed perfectly. Atmosphere was amazing. Placed was jammed packed and everyone, including staff, seemed like they were having a good time and smiles all around. Chatted up some locals, staff, and even the chef/owner. The chef, the one that got the nomination, seemed humble and couldn't speak more highly of their team, which in my opinion, weighs more than any yelp review I could leave. Gave me a couple of local recommendations of places to check out next time I'm in town! All and all, this place shouldn't be missed while traveling. The locals here have quite the gem, hopefully they are taking advantage of it.

Yelp
Hands down, best place I have ever eaten. Coming from southern California, I thought I would struggle finding high end date spots. My husband and I checked out crafted based on a suggestion. I am so grateful we went ! We were seated in the cellar which was so intimate and quiet. Service was amazing ! We appreciated the knowledgeable suggestions for menu items and drinks. We ultimately ordered the chefs 7 course menu. The hibachi crudo, oysters, and scallop were by far my favorite items, ( I am NOT an oyster person). We also received the braised lamb Campanelle, broccolini, flanken ribs, and stmores dessert for my husband's birthday. Everything was cooked to perfection. The oysters were very mild. The hibachi crudo was one of the most amazing plates. We will be dining here again. Gladly.

Yelp
Although offering an attractive concept of serving high quality and locally sourced ingredients that were creatively showcased on the plate, Crafted fell quite short on its execution. There was a clear lack of foresight and technique in the preparation of our dishes ranging from the underseasoned squash "poke" and pasta to the hodgepodge of incoherent ingredients thrown together on a plate in attempt to impress its patrons. I was charmed by the intimate ambiance and friendliness of its staff, but was ultimately disappointed by their treatment of the ingredients. Here is a breakdown of our meal and my thoughts on each dish. We decided on ordering the 7 course tasting menu: 1. Oysters - Small and mild in flavor, though I don't mind considering this is Yakima and sourcing ingredients like fresh oysters could be a challenging and expensive endeavor. 2. "Seared" tuna - Poorly prepared as it each bite had sinew in it. Perhaps it suffers from the same issue as the oysters? Sauce was advertised as a gingery soy sauce but was ultimately one-dimensional and I felt that they tried to cover up that fact by dowsing the dish with garnishes. I didn't taste ginger. 3. Squash poke - rice crackers weren't seasoned at all and very stale. Squash tasted like it has been boiled in unseasoned water and was unevenly cooked. I suggest cooking in a slightly cooler bath for a bit longer or even using a sous vide. Although being a starchy vegetable, the squash took on very little flavor of the sauce, which told me that it was severely undermarinated. Garnishes once again were placed liberally to embellish the dish. Please season your water better. 4. Confit duck pasta - Pasta was overcooked and tasted as if it recieved the same treatment as the squash. The flavor of the duck was overwhelmed by the cream sauce, capers, mushrooms, and large pieces of parsley. Texture of the duck was good though. 5. Scallops with creamed corn sauce and fingerling potatoes - potatoes were cooked well, albeit underseasoned (if at all). Creamed corn sauce was delicious, though I personally though that it was incoherent with the rest of the dish. Scallops were supposed to be medium rare. I understand if it is the will of the chef to cook their protein to a certain doneness, however, our scallops just had a sear on the surface with a completely translucent body. I would actually enjoy this preparation on the tuna instead. Also, needs more acid. 6. Steak with squash rinds and peach chutney- rinds were completely overcooked and stringy. The steak was clearly of high quality and I enjoyed that as a consolation. Chutney could use a bit more acid and spice - it tasted more like a jam than a chutney. Suggest adding a crunchy component to this dish. 7. Apple tart with mascarpone cheese and bourbon reduction- the apples were delicious. The pastry would taste better if there was a pinch more salt in the dough. Reduction was good. Overall, I paid well over $200 for our meal including drinks. I don't think I'll make this mistake again. I really like the direction at which the menu is heading. I just wished that there was more testing with the items or education on the part of the kitchen team.

Yelp
Crafted is probably one of the best New American cuisine restaurants in Washington State. The menu is constantly changing so there's always something new to try, they have plenty of options for both vegetarians and meat eaters, the plates feature unique flavors and ingredients (many of them sourced from local farms), and the dining experience is fun because the food is shareable. The staff is always friendly and helpful in food selection. The restaurant itself has a cool vibe to it, is low lit, and features hand crafted cocktails. It's a pricier restaurant, but one bite and you'll understand why. A few notes that I don't feel should affect a 5 star rating for this wonderful restaurant, but are worth noting: although most of their food is amazing, there have been a few times when I thought a dish was just "good". But it's never been mediocre or bad. Also, I tried the Chef's Menu with a friend once. They brought out the chef's choice of 6 items from the current menu, plus a dessert. I added up the prices of everything that we had been given, and it would have been cheaper to have ordered everything straight off the menu than the price we paid for a Chef's Menu selection. All in all, a true gem not only for Yakima, but for Washington State.
