Great stop along the parkway. Nice parking with a bathroom, and the hike is scenic, interesting, and has a very spacious area at the top to take in the panoramic views. The hike up and back is less than a mile in total with about 240’ of elevation gain and a mix of flat and uneven trails. We made the hike in a light rain after a wet night and the trails were still in nice shape and not too muddy. There were a couple of side trails available to lower overlooks but we only took one out of curiosity.

This hike and sunset combo do not disappoint! Nestled in Craggy Gardens off the Blue Ridge Parkway, this easy half mile hike through dense foliage across meandering pathways leads to three different vantage points. The path to the right at the first split leads to a secluded viewing spot that faces mostly West. If you continue on to the left, there are 2 other paths that split off. The path to the left will take you up to the pinnacle--which boasts marvelous 360 panoramic views! This is the more popular viewing spot. If you take the path that veers slightly to the right, you will arrive at another observation spot from which you get good Southern and Western views. This is where I watched the sunset. What a beautiful show to behold! It would definitely make a great date spot or picnic area too. Be sure to bring a headlamp if you plan on watching the sunset as the descent down can be a little iffy with only a flashlight. Also, bring a jacket or a blanket as the temperature drops rather quickly and it can be quite chilly. This is definitely a must-see for anyone visiting the area!

Beautiful, short (~1 mile) hike up to the top of Craggy Pinnacle - through huge, old rhododendron bushes with a sparkling stone and mica floor. The view at the top is a wonderful 360°. There is also a small side trail that splits to the right that leads to another lookout that is a little more secluded. The rhododendron were finishing their blooming while we were there; the flowers were beautiful. This hike is pretty high traffic (we went on a Saturday afternoon) and busy at certain times, but well worth the hike, just understand that you will likely have many other people around. Additional: There are porta potties available in the parking lot. The parking lot is pretty big, but can fill up depending on the day and time. Though this trail is short it is a light climb and it might be challenging for little children under 5, or anyone with limited mobility.

Craggy Gardens Pinnacle is a favorite trail on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is a relatively easy hike that rewards fantastic views. The trail is very scenic too as it winds up the mountain. We have favorite stops for pictures. In August there were lots of wildflowers blooming.

Great hike, not super hard. Kids as young as 2 were hiking this trail. Super chilly in early morning October but worth the views!

A stunning vista with amazing 360° views. There's plenty of parking and it's a short 10 minute hike to reach the viewpoint, but once you're there, you are rewarded with the best views in the area and you are transported into a painting. We enjoyed the sunset as the light sparkled amongst the fall foliage.

Our favorite quick and easy hike to start out the summer along the parkway in wnc. Kids enjoy it everytime. You always feel on top of the world up there. Easy hike. My 4 year old did it barefoot last summer. Lol.

Absolutely stunning! Great hike, not too far to reach the summit and worth the views! It was a little buggy at the peak so be prepared 😆
