Cranky Granny's Sweet Rolls

We drove 40 minutes from West Austin to try Cranky Granny's for the first time this weekend! We arrived on Saturday morning at opening and they were not opened. It took a few extra minutes to open the doors, which I do understand as a small business can happen sometimes. I do wish they would open earlier! I personally see cinnamon rolls as a breakfast food, but they do not open until lunch time. We were first in line and it only took about 5-6 minutes to get our two rolls. We got the classic and the cookies & cream flavor. I personally prefer a sweeter glaze on top, and this frosting has more of a cream cheese whipped taste. I know that some people love and prefer this, and if that's you then you will love how these taste! I just personally prefer something more traditional and sweeter. My kids did eat them and enjoyed, but said they also prefer a different taste. It's fun to try out at least once as they have many fun flavor options to choose from!

Absolutely the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. Very reasonable pricing. Clean and well put together establishment. Easy to place online order (menu has pics) and pick up was quick and simple. Can't wait to try more of they're delicious unique flavors!!! Highly recommend for anyone wanting a sweet treat!!!!

these were so delicious! cinnamon rolls are honestly one of my favorite foods and I've been wanting to try cranky Granny's for awhile. we ordered off the secret menu and were not disappointed with our choices. will definitely be back!

This is the second time I've tried to go but they don't open until 11! I'll try again and update my review then. But be warned! They are not open for breakfast/brunch!!! Update: they're so good! Much better than what I could make at home, and that's saying something. Plus you have the flavors and variety.

Update: For some reason they have decided to speed up the wait by microwaving or some type of quick heat method. This has ruined the cinnamon roll . I've tried 3 separate times and all three times I was let down😒 They stole my joy and it always happens. The increase business has made the quality suffer. You can't rush greatness. I will wait the hour to get my Cranky Granny. The absolute best cinnamon rolls I've ever tasted. I heard this place was good but I had no idea how good this place is. If there is one place to stop by in the Austin area it is the Cranky Granny. Peach cobbler cinnamon roll, strawberry shortcake cinnamon roll and banana pudding cinnamon rolls are my favorite. The first bite will blow your mind it's so good....

Every 10 min a new batch of Cinnamon rolls comes out of the oven! Well worth the time! Our rolls came out nice and warm! It was so hard not to eat them in the car! Cashier was super nice and answered my questions as best as she could. Will be coming here again!

My kids are obsessed with Cranky Granny’s water ice. We got the strawberry shortcake and cookie butter banana crunch today and they were incredible. Everyone is so nice and their place is very clean. We have been there every week since they opened, it is that good!

This is our 3rd time and its incredible everytime!! We always get the peach cobbler and strawberry ones and then get 2 new ones to try. All of them are 100/10!!! Also tried their caramel cookies and cream frozen coffee, it was amazing!

I tried coming back once and really enjoyed the classic cinnamon roll. To make sure it wasn't a fluke, I came back again and loved it. The first time I came the music was blaring and that wasn't the case either of the other times. Last time I also got the cinnamon to go and didn't eat it for awhile. It makes a world of difference to eat it fresh. Also super friendly staff!

We got to Cranky Granny's at 11:20 and even though they opened at 11:00 the line was already out the door. We waited in line and got to order at 12:06, the employees seemed too stressed to provide any friendly customer service. I asked if they were normally this busy and the cashier just looked and me and shook her head yes. You cannot order more than 4 cinnamon rolls per transaction, so we had to do two separate transactions for our family. We waited in the very tiny building and got our cinnamon rolls at around 12:46. The building is very small and doesn't do a great job of accommodating their very large rush hours. I think a larger outdoor waiting area or even a texting service to notify when orders are ready may help this issue. Around 12:45 the line did die down and everyone in the building had ordered and were simply waiting. The ambiance of the restaurant is overwhelming and chaotic. We ordered a regular milk, and the Ooey Gooey, Strawberry Lemon, Churro, Classic, and Tres Leches. We got our cup of milk nearly 25 minutes before our cinnamon rolls. Although they were all warm and fresh, the Ooey Gooey and Classic were just okay. The Churro and Tres Leches were good, and the Strawberry Lemon was a pass (although very pretty). Overall, the experience was quite overwhelming, with a mix of good, bad, ugly, and average. I don't think we will be back, but for a someone with a big sweet tooth, or a cinnamon roll aficionado this place may be worth checking out. Small building, not much seating. You will be waiting for a while!!

***The cinnamon rolls here are definitely a 4/5 or even 5/5. The 3 star rating is for the establishment and service.*** Their cinnamon rolls are cooked perfectly, the glaze has great flavor, and whatever toppings you choose I'm sure they'll be great. But when choosing I'd advise you to consider how sweet you like your bread. I shared the tres leches cinnamon roll, and I wasn't a huge fan of it. The flavor was good but it was extremely sweet because of the tres leches sauce and the ton of glaze poured on top. If you want a more balanced roll, that is sweet but not over the top sweet, I'd say the strawberry or caramel banana crunch might be a good fit. We visited on a Saturday afternoon. I'm not sure if it's like this every day or every hour, but the wait time was extremely long. We waited a bit over an hour to receive our cinnamon rolls after placing our order. The line to order took about 20 minutes, the rest of the time we spent waiting for our rolls along with the other dozens of people inside the space. (Keep in mind there's only seating for 6 people!!) Overall, I wish this establishment was better organized and staffed so that the cinnamon rolls could be delivered in a more timely fashion. Also, I'd like to see them implement a mobile service with text updates so that one can leave and come back for their rolls if the wait time truly cannot be shortened.

I found this spot on Instagram and they do a great job of promoting their business. When I was visiting Austin I made a special trip to Pflugerville just to visit them. They are located in an unassuming business park, but do have some signage out front so they can be located. I was somewhat disappointed at the customer service. I feel like if you advertise on insta, you gotta be a bit more welcoming when people from out of state make special trips. Anyhow, they had a plethora of options and just like their insta page shows, they have some delicious cinnamon rolls. My favorite was the peach cobbler. They also have seasonal items to keep the men fresh. Very limited seating, so don't expect to hang around after you get your order. Quality is 5/5.

Was looking for a snack in the area and this place showed up. It's a small store with a bit of seating, so we got it to go instead. Service was nice and quick. I forgot the name of what we got but it had cinnamon toast crunch and bananas and was amaaaaazing. I would absolutely go out of my way to go back and try others! I think two or three people could share one.. or finish part and save the rest for later!

SUPER SWEET!!! I ordered a Tres Leches and Strawberry Overload Cinnamon Roll. The Tres Leches was just like a cake in cinnamon roll form. The strawberry overload was a bit too sweet. The strawberry and the icing was all you could taste and couldn't enjoy the roll itself. The tres leches you could taste more of the roll. I would recommend trying an original and a sweet one. Overall, the rolls are good but some are too sugary.

This place is hidden but it's definitely well known. When my partner and I got there, there were about 10 people waiting for their order. We decided to order the churro roll and the wet walnut roll. The cashier said it would take 20 minutes to receive our order. The churro roll's texture was soft and it was warm by the time we got home. I feel the cinnamon was a bit over powering and it was extremely sweet. I did enjoy it but I barely ate half before I got full. Overall, it was tasty. I will probably have to eat it in 2-4 sittings though.

I like the marketing gimmick of Cranky Granny's. It's just another sweet roll place and I like the idea of ordering my food through their screen out front. No need to wait for service. The food comes out in minutes which means it is fresh and hot. I'd come back here. Different flavor profiles to try. Place feels a bit sterile and could use some ambiance but I'm ok without it. When it's hot outside their conditioning is nice and cool. Plenty of places to sit. Worth my visit!

In the mood for confectionery, we stopped in on cranky granny to sample some custom and creative cinnamon rolls!! Service was friendly albeit super quiet. Great selection in ambiance music while we waited. Today's selection consisted of the blueberry lemon, churro, cinnamon crunch, strawberry crunch, committed and cream, and the strawberry cinnamon rolls. No pictures of the rolls as the family devoured them!! Delicious sweet goodness. Highly recommend

Have you been to Cranky Granny's? If you haven't you are missing a REAL treat!! We were just behind the crowd.There are so many options to try. We chose a 4 pack and then added 2 more and still felt like we were missing out. OUR TASTING FLIGHT Strawberry-sweet, tart, tangy and yummy!!! Was supposed to share but kept tasting and then it was gone. 5 stars Strawberry Shortcake- a lot going on 5 stars Banana Pudding- are you serious! 5 stars Peach Cobbler- great combo of peaches and roll. 4.5 stars Wet Walnut- Crunchy, tasty, great combo of textures and flavors. 5 stars Classic- Sooooo good. Should have gotten more. 5 stars See you next visit!

Cranky Granny's has been on my list to try for a while and I'll absolutely be back for another visit! The rolls are soft and gooey (aka everything you want them to be) and I love the variety of flavor options offered! FAST FACTS: * Parking: located in a shopping center so there was plenty of parking available in the lot in front of the building * Online ordering: available for pick up in the store * Delivery: available through DoorDash, Grubhub, and Spirit Tree * Discounts: $4 off 4 rolls, $6 off 6 rolls, and $12 off 12 rolls * Vegan options available * Rewards program available on the website SERVICE - The cashier welcomed us immediately and was very pleasant while taking our order. We initially ordered 3 rolls but she prompted us to consider adding a fourth roll to get the $4 discount and we took the bait (admittedly, you don't have to twist my arm too hard to get me to eat another cinnamon roll). We asked her what her favorite was and she recommended the strawberry! PRICING - The total for 4 rolls after the $4 discount and tax was $30.69 before tip (please don't ever tell anyone I spend $30 on cinnamon rolls) so it's definitely pricey but they are massive and you're supporting a local business. CLASSIC SWEET ROLL (9/10) - I thought this would be too "basic" but it was by far the best one! The texture of the dough, cinnamon filling, and icing are exactly what you want it to be. I hate to compare it to Cinnabon, but the only thing keeping it from a 10/10 was the center... it wasn't as gooey as a Cinnabon roll. STRAWBERRY SWEET ROLL (8/10) - I loved the fruity flavor of the strawberry with the cream cheese icing! COOKIES N' CREAM SWEET ROLL (7/10) - Smells exactly like a cinnamon roll and Oreo cookie had a baby... delicious but just not as good as the classic sweet roll. HOT CHOCOLATE SWEET ROLL (6/10) - This was a seasonal offering and I was super excited for it because I LOVE chocolate but I hate to say that it just fell short. The texture of the dough was not nearly as soft as the others which I'm assuming is due to the chocolate. Overall, it was a great experience and I'd definitely come back! If it's your first time, I highly suggest starting with the classic sweet roll... it may sound boring in comparison to the other flavor offerings but I promise it's the "classic" for a reason!

We ordered a delivery from Cranky Granny's Sweet Rolls through Uber Eats late in the evening. To my surprise, the desserts arrived warm and ready to eat!! Thus, to-go service was fast! We got the "Classic", "Strawberry Peach Cobbler", and "Wet Walnut"; all of their rolls were rich and no shortage of toppings or glaze for sure!! Everything was delicious but a bit sweet and the texture of their bread/roll was different from the traditional cinnamon rolls that I'm used to as theirs were dense and spongy and didn't have that pull away and have a chew to it. All and all, if you love sweets and want to try something new, check them out!

Good stuff just rough service. We ordered and paid for 4 on the website and went in to pick them up. The only issue with that, is the website doesn't mention the current promotions they have going. We get to the store to pick up and there's a sign that says buy 6 get some money off. We asked if we can do that deal, and the cashier says 'I don't think you do it now sorry' I hate that. She could've been understanding and tried to make it work. She could've at least asked someone how to make that work. But to not even attempt to help us is just bad service. It's not hard to cancel the 4 and make a sale for the 6. Or just charge the difference of the 2 new selections minus the money saved. Definitely a missed opportunity in the service department. The rolls were really good though. My favorite was the ooey gooey. Wish they had one of these in San Antonio!

If I could be paid in my choice of signature and seasonal sweet rolls from Cranky Granny's I just might have to consider it. These laurels of delicious sweetness will have anyone smiling no matter how cranky they might be. What's fun about this shop is they not only serve the freshest sweet rolls you can find, but they even ship nationwide! Their flavors are so fun and unique that it's almost like answering multiple cravings for your sweet tooth. Don't believe me? Think of flavors like peach cobbler, tres leches, and strawberry shortcake. I feel like they tend to have at least 10-15 flavors available at any point. What's pretty neat is they even do large orders or alternatives to cupcakes. Imagine everyone getting mini sweet rolls?! Such a vibe and literal treat. All in all I'm obsessed and a total groupie for Cranky Granny's.

Cinnamon rolls so good it'll make you slap your granny! Hands down the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had in my life, and it's not even close! Now, I'll admit you'll have to wait a bit for your order b/c they are made to order, but trust me it's worth it! I wish there was better seating inside, but the two times I've been there was great music playing so I didn't mind hanging out while my order was being prepared!

I gave them one star because they didn't have like zero we came to get some cinnamon rolls cause we heard about them and I waited 31 minutes to get an order of three cinnamon rolls. Ridiculous. Won't be coming back., Round Rock donuts

Delicious cinnamon rolls! They are just like my gramma used to make. My friend got the peach cobbler cinnamon roll. She said it was perfect! I got the plain, old fashioned roll. Yummmmm

This place is a hidden treasure in Pflugerville. The sweet rolls are amazing and so many to choose from. I have read about Cranky Granny's and decided to stop and try. They were delicious and definitely a sharing size. I tried the banana pudding and the churro. The churro was a crispy delight full of flavor and who doesn't love a banana pudding anything. Both were amazing in their own way. I will be back for the peach cobbler and the blueberry.The staff I encountered were so friendly and informative. I will be definitely returning.

There aren't enough good things to say about cranky granny's. Firstly need the smells of the place need to be bottled into an air freshener bc it was incredible. The rolls were made to order and were warm when we got them, so tasty and fresh i can't say enough. The cookies n cream roll was delectable and worth every bit. The classic was even better and the creamy icing was perfect. Can't wait to be back for more

If you love cinnamon rolls this is the place ! I tried an original and a churro cinnamon roll. Both were amazing! The service was quick and the staff were nice and made recommendations. It's a small little store front you can walk in and order at the counter . They also have preorder options. I can't wait to return and try a new flavor .

Congratulations on the grand opening!!! This has been on my bookmarked list for a while. It's clean and bright inside of the shop. Music playing was definitely a jam. The people working here were so nice. Y'all know when I try things I am going to order a bunch of different items. I tried the following sweet rolls: chocolate peanut butter, toasted carmel Crunch, original and strawberry. They offer a savory roll so we got the stuffed Buffalo chicken mini rolls. As always my eyes are bigger than my belly however I enjoyed them the next day. Still delicious and I warmed it up according to the instructions. All of the rolls were delicious. I was worried with the toppings I would make it extra sweet/rich, but nope it was perfect. I see they offer nationwide shipping. That's a plus as these rolls definitely kept fresh when I ate them the next day. So glad you're back up and running so we can get our fix. We love to support women owned businesses.

What can I say?! I'm a regular here. So much so, that I'm always greeted with a "hey girl! Let me get your order ready". The new location in Pflugerville is light, bright and airy. There are a few tables for seating and a high top bar counter with stools. There are great pictures on the walls of the food, customers and owner. The service is always great, they offer a secret menu that offers unique flavor combos. I almost always get the banana pudding, the original and the blueberry banana doodle. This week they had the fried chicken sweet roll. Uh, YUM!! It's the original roll sandwiched with a fried chicken breast, topped with maple syrup drizzle. If it's on the menu, get it!! I take everyone who come to visit here. If you're in the area stop by!

I drove an hour to visit this place, after seeing it on Instagram.... It was okay, I ordered the Ooey gooey cinnamon roll and was appalled that there was no frosting on it!. The Frosting makes the cinnamon roll! I do feel like the menu was a lot to look at, may I suggest a more condensed menu introducing flavors of the week and of course your original cinnamon roll! The service wasn't very welcoming for my family & I but once we spoke to the lady at the register she warmed up a bit. The ambiance is decent, I like the sitting area in the corner very relaxing.

Sooooooo good! I was first introduced to this business when they were at their Domain location. This is MUCH BETTER! I'm a fan of cinnamon rolls. I make my own quite often, but nothing fancy like these! The flavors are really unbelievable. My friend and I recently went together and both took home a 6 pack - crazy thing is we each ordered DIFFERENT varieties - Thats how vast this selection is. My favorite is still the peach cobbler. Give this wonderful local business a try. You will love it!

I took my sis to this place while she was in town. Failed both our expectations. First, we never expected to wait 20 minutes for two cinnamon. And there were only two people ahead of us. Second, the roll was dry, hardly any cinnamon. The frosting was minimal. My sis wasn't impressed so I'll have to make it up to her on the next visit! Maybe I'll try again in a year since this business is relatively new. But for now, not worth sll the hype!

Beautiful store. It has a very calm vibe. We popped in on a rainy Saturday. Owner was very nice. there are photos of many of the items. I got a peach cobbler cinnamon roll. I understand the price point for the specialty item. The cinnamon roll was huge, topped with peaches and cinnamon. Definitely would come back again to try other flavors!

So, I have a confession to make... After marinating inside Cranky Granny's waiting for my to-go rolls, I couldn't help myself and got into them as soon as I got into my vehicle. My fiance and I got 3 rolls to split (don't judge me ): banana pudding, churro, and peach cobbler. They were all warm, goey, and delicious but my favorite was probably banana pudding, closely followed by peach cobbler. They both combined two of my favorite things perfectly. I look forward to coming back and trying the other flavors soon.

This was the perfect addition to my iftaar spread! So happy to have found this sweet place near my house, staff are friendly and the rolls are freshly made to order. We got two normal sized rolls, the classic and strawberry and two mini rolls the mocha and churro. 1st -Mocha this roll was phenomenal. It was the perfect combo of chocolate chips and mocha drizzle with fluffy rolls, not overpowering not bland just great. 2nd - churro or strawberry, churro is like classic cinnamon roll a little amplified, a little extra in the best way. The strawberry was great the syrup tasted fresh and tangy flavors complemented the cinnamon frosting well. Now for my least favorite: definitely the classic. I usually love a classic cinnamon roll but this was lacking, it didn't have any of the normal cinnamon drizzle vibes, and the cream cheese frosting tasted off and I'm someone who loves cream cheese. Maybe it needed more sugar or I'm not sure but it was it. All in all though great experience and will be back for the mocha!

Yummmmmm-meeeeee! Don't sleep on this goodness that awaits you at Cranky Granny's! Warm and delicious is what these sweet rolls are. We tried the classic and the peach cobbler. You can't go wrong with the classic but the peach cobbler roll was on another level. I can't wait to try some other flavors. Along with a multitude of flavors and combinations, they also offer vegan options! The rolls came out fresh and warm. The service was friendly and hospitable. The storefront has limited seating but we took ours to go. This is a small, woman owned business so go support them. Your tastebuds will not be disappointed.

Delicious..... What more can I say! I'm so glad they have moved to this new location in Pflugerville in which I hope nothing but continued success. They have a great selection of items and everything is cooked to order. With that being said, pack a little patience because it will be worth it. So much you might be wanting to order again if you like sweet rolls like these. They have wonderful customer service and they will treat you like family. Can't wait to go back and try different flavors. They offer to ship anywhere in the domestic US. So if you know someone in another state that is missing this deliciousness, you have an option to send them one that will be your best friend ever. LOL! I truly recommend giving them and chance and enjoy all the flavors and sweet rolls they provide.

Made to order cinnamon rolls!! So many delicious and seasonal flavors, I can't just pick one that I love. But I definitely gravitate more to the lemony flavors. Strawberry lemon and blueberry lemon try them all if you can, you can't go wrong!

I've literally passed by this place thousands of times and never knew it was here. If it wasn't for a fellow yelper pointing it out, I would never have found it. . This shop sits on the east side of Dessau just before you hit Pecan Street as you're heading north. It is sandwiched between a childcare business and Baylor Scott and White sports medicine clinic. When you enter, the interior is quite sparse, with just a few places to sit at and there is a very small display case of "the goods". Their unique take on sweet rolls is pretty much all they sell, and they are all primarily cream cheese frosted except for the ooey gooey. For another $3 you can add a scoop of ice cream to the already high caloric intake. They also offer vegan options and they do have some coffee and milkshake drink options as well. Unfortunately, you cannot grab one of these on your early-morning commute to work since they open at 11 AM. At least there's plenty of parking available and like most businesses these days, the tip screen will be waiting for you.

On a sugar rush after inhaling the delicious and gooey sweet rolls for a Yelp Elite Event I attended yesterday evening. I first heard about Cranky Granny's Sweet Rolls when they opened in their Round Rock location, however I never had the chance to go there...and then when I heard about their new location in Pflugerville, I was super excited like a dog wagging its tail lol ..and their location is literally on my route on the way to/from work which makes it super convenient for me. They have a great menu selection of flavors of their sweet rolls...and to be honest i wanted to try all lol, but I narrowed it down to their strawberry shortcake, churro roll with peach cobbler, and the original of course. All 3 of them were served warm and FANTASTIC! I am definitely going to be a frequent costumer and looking forward to trying all the flavors.

Food: 11/10 Service: 10/10 Ambiance: 10/10 The rolls were amazing and so tasteful and mouthwatering. It was a little taste of heaven. The decor was beautiful. I loved the pictures on the wall of customers actually enjoying the rolls and pictures of the rolls themselves. It was clean and the chairs and tables are nice and comfortable. Enjoyed the music as well. The customer service was superb. Appreciate the feminine products kept in the bathroom also (great idea). We will def be back.

I had every intention on having this as a dessert this evening. It smells and looks so good we had to dive into it soon after I got home. Now I have to go back for another one. All orders are made fresh.

Great variety of flavors! Ooey gooey is easily the stand out, the butter really cuts through the sweetness nicely. Very friendly staff It's in a very unassuming parking lot next to a BSW clinic so it's easy to miss, but it is worth finding

Such an amazing experience for cinnamon rolls!!! So so many flavors to choose from- or shall I say "unique" flavors -from classic to things you wouldn't have imagined could be turned into a sweet roll! Wonderfully yummy!

Baaaaaaaaaby! I'm in love with the Wet Walnut cinnamon roll. Delicious and tasty! Will definitely be back to try the other flavors. The staff were attentive and kind. I placed my order and my cinnamon roll was out in less than five minutes. The restaurant has seating available if you'd like to eat there.

Small mom and pap shop, the wait time was really long for just a couple of rolls that were ordered. There wasn't a lot of customers ahead of us. The rolls were overpriced and overly sweet, however, the croissant like texture of the rolls is pretty nice.

Tried the banana pudding rolls and was disappointed :(. I thought it was gonna be more fresh since it was baked daily. There was a weird aftertaste and the dough tasted like it had been taken out of the fridge or freezer and re microwave. Maybe I need to try a diff flavor..

I've been eager to give Cranky Granny's Sweet Rolls a shot for a while now. The environment was spotless and welcoming with a charming seating area in the corner that's just begging to be photographed. I decided to go with both the sweet potato (which is a seasonal flavor) and the churro sweet rolls. If you're a fan of chocolate and all things sweet, then you should definitely go with the churro sweet roll. Personally, I preferred the sweet potato one, and it's such a shame that it's only available for a limited time! I had a to-go order, and they were kind enough to include heating instructions on a card. I need to come back and try the other flavors!

I got to try Cranky Granny's when they were operating out of their temporary location. I am so excited to hear that they will be re-opening their own location soon. Can't wait for that! I had two different rolls, their churro sweet roll, and their wet walnut sweet roll, and OMG... these are some of the best sweet rolls I have ever had. They were a little pricey but I understand why. The size of the sweet rolls was HUGE. The churro roll was perfectly sweet with a little bit of cinnamon. But that Wet Walnut sweet roll was something else. The syrup was so yummy and the addition of the toasted walnuts tied it all together. The portions were so BIG I had leftovers for later. The sweet rolls come with reheating instructions. I followed the instructions when I reheated them and they tasted just as fresh as when I got them. Honestly, Cranky Granny is worth the drive. I will be going back when they open their new location. I have been wanting to try their savory options and their flavors of the month!

All I really have to say is that these are so, so good! There was a line when I went so you should try to go earlier then later, but the rolls came out hot and fresh and the cream is delicious. It definitely beats store-brought cinnamon buns. Surprisingly I enjoyed the vegan (Yes, they have vegan rolls!) over the classic. The churro one is like "give me another!"
