I am beyond disappointed with the store manager at Crate & Barrel in Burlington, Heather Darrow. This review is directed solely at her because the level of rudeness, incompetence, and complete lack of professionalism I experienced was unacceptable.Here’s the nightmare I went through: I returned some items in the store and asked them to place an online order for me. I waited two weeks and still didn’t receive my item. When I called customer service (after being on hold for nearly an hour), they told me their system showed I had already picked up the item in-store. That was absolutely false. After some digging, the rep discovered they have accidentally marked the order as picked up the very same day it was placed, which created a huge mess. By that point, the item was out of stock and I was told to call the store for a refund.I called the store, wasted another 30 minutes, and was told a replacement order had been placed and I would receive it in three days. A week passed — nothing. I called customer service again, explained the entire saga yet again, and was told to call the store. When I called, the store then promised they would send me a gift card via FedEx within three days.Another week went by — still nothing. When I called again, I was told the gift card had been “signed for” by someone I do not even know. At this point, after wasting hours of my time, I decided to go in person to speak to the store manager.That was the worst part of all. Heather Darrow, the store manager, was shockingly rude. After 10+ years of working in professional, customer-facing sales role in biotech, I can immediately recognize poor leadership and zero customer service skills. Instead of apologizing or taking ownership, she dismissed me, told me to “call customer service again,” and flat-out refused to issue either a refund or a gift card on the spot. Even worse, she falsely implied that I had received the gift card — essentially accusing me of lying. That was insulting, unprofessional, and completely out of line. She could have easily verified the shipping address before making such an outrageous claim, but instead she chose to push blame onto me.This entire ordeal was a complete waste of my time, energy, and patience. I used to be a loyal fan of Crate & Barrel, but this experience has destroyed my trust in the company. With a store manager like this representing the brand, I cannot recommend Crate & Barrel anymore. Customers deserve honesty, accountability, and respect — none of which I received here.
