Croatia Has Opened a Museum Dedicated Entirely to Neckties

Housed in Zagreb, this quirky museum is entirely devoted to neckties, with exhibitions that document the evolution of the humble tie since it was introduced to the world by Croatian soldiers over 400 years ago. It showcases curated artefacts and works by contemporary local artists, with display items ranging from uniforms of Cravat regiments to pieces by renowned Croatian designer Juraj Zigman, who has worked with Beyoncé and Christina Aguilera. A special ‘showstoppers’ category features unusual exhibits like a tie made of bulletproof material and a 3D exhibit featuring horses. Described as fun if a tad bizarre, its concept and ethos are to illustrate the historic significance of neckties and contribute to the worldwide promotion of Croatia as the homeland of the cravat.
