Cravings Café - Review - Greenpoint - New York - The Infatuation

"From the extended family behind Sami’s Kabab House, Cravings Cafe is an Afghan deli in Greenpoint. Besides rice dishes, kebabs, and other meats, you’ll find some basic deli breakfast items—as well as more interesting ones, like an egg sandwich with spiced tomatoes. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

The food I’ve had is interesting and good! However, for someone who orders for pickup on a short lunch break, the timing of the orders being ready and available to grab by the predicted time is not consistent enough (appears to be an understaffing issue which I know must be really hard to navigate). I will also say I have asked for condiments and utensils multiple times (which is an option in their online store) and have never once received them, which is extremely frustrating. Utensils don’t appear to be available in the dining room either. As many places utilize, they really need a spot that’s dedicated to picking up orders for bags that are ready, because having just one person to hand out orders (which requires taking names), take dining room orders, and then deliver dining room orders to tables does not work when a line is out the door. If your food is truly ready by its predicted time and it’s just sitting there out of reach because you have to wait in line for someone to take your name and hand it to you, that is very frustrating and defeats the pickup purpose. The main woman who staffs the front is always super polite and does a great job at acknowledging you even if she can’t be with you, which is huge! She keeps her cool and is so professional. I just need something a little more predictable than this if I’m going out of my way to get lunch on a workday.

The "Old Bay" tuna sandwich was heavily lacking flavor and it was not a good value for $10 (go to Subway). Home fries, very well fried. Service was slightly slower than the typical downtown vendors during lunch. Food was fresh and made to order.

Small spot downtown with great sandwiches and very friendly staff. It appears that all ingredients are extremely fresh. My BLT and home fries were fantastic My wife enjoyed a craving club. Will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone

Downtown and has bathroom, wow! The food and drinks were wonderful. Staff were very nice. A few Grateful Dead songs played followed by Tedeschi Trucks Band. Great vibes and a downtown jem.

Very yummy little gem! I was glad to find this place as it was very convenient to the location I was working for the day. The smash burger was yummy!!!! And so was the pasta salad “feature of the week.” The prices for the main entrees were actually quite reasonable. Under $10 for the burger! However, the sides are where they get ya, so I wouldn’t recommend one unless you have the money to blow ($5 for pasta salad or fries – 1/2 the price of the main entree!) Friendly customer service and nice interior features. I would return here, happily.

This is an extremely tiny Cafe with a small breakfast menu. It's one page. I wasn't too crazy about the options. The bagel sandwich was decent. It's environmentally friendly and uses recycled everything which is good. I

I always walked past this place and finally decided to give it a try. I got the Downtown Smash Burger and it tasted most excellent. Also enjoyed eating it inside the small cafe. The one thing I didn't liked is the small menu - it has like 5 items and a few specials and only a single vegetarian option on the specials menu but they were out of it. And the burger was rather large for a lunch item.

Stopped in early morning for a coffee and breakfast sandwhich. The portion for the price was awesome. The sandwhich was tasty and the coffee was very good. They do not have expresso or any other options but it is a good cup of coffee.
