I stumbled upon this place because the original restaurant I was planning on eating at was closed (even though they said they were open on yelp). Being that I needed to get something quick before work, this was the next nearest place that was open.
When you walk in you automatically see the large bar with high top seating. To the left is the hostess table where you wait to get seated. They have music lightly playing in the background. I was seated quickly. Recieved the menu, my water and the food quickly, which is appreciated, as I was rushing to goto work. The waitress I had was hustling quickly trying to get to everyone. She did a really good job. They have an upstairs area that I would be eager to explore in the future.
Yes menu prices here is expensive. Certain main entrees going for north of $40. Yea prices are expensive, but at least you know how much it is before you order, so complaining about the price, especially when the food is good, makes no sense. I ordered their blackened catfish. It was good. 2 large filets. Good amount of rice and some vegetables. They give you a good amount of sauce to drizzle the catfish in. Really adds to the flavor. It's moist and tender. Has a slightly charred/bitter taste, but overall it was good.
My biggest problem here are the locals who act all foolish after over drinking. Or maybe they didn't drink that much and they are just obnoxious jerks in real life. I don't know. But either way they were loud, they were brash, they were annoying, and they acted like j*ck*sses. If you want to act like that at home that's your business, but in a public place.... I don't care how much of a local you are, acting like a drunk fool is repulsive to people just trying to enjoy a meal in a nice atmosphere. And pounding on the table, yelling and laughing obnoxiously, and being drunkenly loud, does not make for a nice atmosphere. They really made the place feel and sound trashy dive bar...
