Beloved Asiatown Restaurant Crawfish and Noodles Will Open a Second Houston Location - Eater Houston

"Crawfish and Noodles, one of Houston’s most beloved destinations for spicy, Viet-Cajun crawfish, will soon open its first location inside the loop. The restaurant’s second outpost, joining the Asiatown original, will make its debut this fall at the Houston Farmers Market at 2520 Airline Drive." - Amy McCarthy

Can't say enough good things about this place, from the staff to the tasty food. Please get an egg noodles dish, so good, better than most places, wings dry rub are good and of course crawfish. Would love to try egg rolls, rice dishes. Lemongrass chicken. Will definitely return.

Google
We ordered the Cajun fries and wings to start. The Cajun fries are so good. It is hard to mess up fries but these were different and tasty. For the wing flavors I got lemon pepper and Asian honey garlic. The Asian honey garlic was my favorite, as the lemon pepper wings were too salty for my liking. That is my only complaint from the entire visit. The viet cajun boiled shrimp were large and juicy. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and had a great flavor. This restaurant does a good job of putting a Vietnamese twist on Cajun dishes.

Google
We love this place, me and my daughter just came for the 2nd time and it's on point. The flavor for the boiled shrimp is great and the Cajun bowl is perfect. Will be coming back.

Google
Delicious Viet-Cajun boiled crawfish! I’ll have it anytime. We always get mild spicy crawfish and an extra bowl of medium spicy sauce on the side. I wish that the crawfish were a tad bigger. That would be perfect. I fully recommend their chicken fried rice and fried calamari too. I love to dip the calamari in the Viet-cajun sauce. I also pour some of the sauce onto the fried rice. Freaking good! Try it! This restaurant is located at the Farmers Market (at the back) in The Heights. Nice vibe and atmosphere. Service was quick and easy. Staffs are friendly.

We arrived for lunch with high expectations because the Houston Chronicle listed the eatery on its best of Houston list. Although the service and atmosphere were good, the food was disappointing. We reserved a regular table, but only high tables were available. No worries, that happens. My wife and I shared the stir-fried egg noodles with vegetables, a pound of shrimp and fried calamari. The noodles were cooked perfectly with an al dente chewiness. The vegetables — cabbage, carrots, broccoli, onions — didn’t have much flavor but were passable. For the price (about $20), the serving size was small. The calamari had a nice lemony flavor, but the batter wasn’t crispy and the calamari were a bit rubbery. I loved the sauce that came with the shrimp, but the shrimp didn’t seem fresh and had a chlorine-like flavor that lingered in my mouth a while after the meal. Our meal was a little over $50, and I’m not sure it was worth it.

Google
This new restaurant in the Houston market is cool with a great view of the park. We went to try the crawdad bugs 🦞 and they did have some great crawfish, viet-Cancun spice was the bomb 💣! . They are big so order a high pounds. Try the salt and pepper fried shrimp, its one of the best hottest tasting items on the menu. Service was a little new, but they were very friendly and it looks like it will be a successful place in the new market. We had a very nice lunch. Waiters l/Waitresses were all attentive and friendly. All the food was very good and the crawfish spice was very hot & delicious. It made me sweat which is a barometer of how much I like them. Food/Service 8.5 outta 10 - Restaurant location and vibe/atmosphere potential 10 outta 10 - the market needs more tenants. This is a good trend-setter. Great Job 👏 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Kevin

Google
It’s a new location from the same owner family with similar menu with more innovation and creativity. The crawfish fried rice is good. The boiled shrimp is great, same recipe same taste as the Chinatown location.

Google
Really great time grabbing lunch here after a stroll through the farmers market. Drew, our server was so knowledgeable and made a whole sake experience for us. Food was super flavorful!!!

Yelp
Okay - just because I had an a-okay recent experience, I do plan on going back to try some other items on their menu (like their crawfish!). I think we just ordered a bunch of stuff that had the same flavor profiles - garlicky and very sweet. The calimari, the lotus salad, the seafood stir fry egg noodles... all had the same (or similar) sauces. The tamarind king crab was a whopping $60+. I prefer to have king crab with just butter. We did get the salt and pepper wings, which was a nice change of flavor. Again, I'd like to go back. Crawfish & Noodles has such a great reputation, and both everyday diners and food critics alike are huge fans.

Yelp
Crawfish & Noodles: When the Crawfish Is Just in the Name I recently brought some out-of-town and even out-of-country visitors to Crawfish and Noodles to give them a taste of crawfish, something they hadn't experienced yet during their time in Houston. Unfortunately, we were disappointed to find that despite the restaurant's name, they were completely out of crawfish. This was a bit of a letdown, especially since our guests were eager to try something different from what they'd had all week. We ended up settling for shrimp and beef dishes, which were decent, but not what we came for. To add to the disappointment, one member of our party wanted chicken wings, but those were also unavailable. On a positive note, the service was friendly and attentive, with staff checking on us regularly, which helped make the experience more pleasant. Overall, while I had high hopes based on good reviews from friends, the lack of availability of key menu items made the visit a bit underwhelming.

Yelp
Food is great! I enjoyed the Viet-Cajun style very much. It was spicy like Cajun food should be with hints of Asian flavors. Wish it was in downtown Houston as it was a drive or Uber away but still good. The restaurant was clean and modern. I thought it had great style. The service was fine. Nothing special and more training could go along way as many people would visit here aka tourist.

Yelp
Viet Cajun done well! Came here from readings the reviews and they did not fault. Just too bad they ran out of crawfish when we visited. Located near the end of a flea market. Plenty of free parking. It's clean and service was good. Didn't see many Vietnamese staff members in the front of the house. What stood out was fried squid dish because the flavors were delish and seafood boil of snow crabs. Until next time crawfish and noodles.

Yelp
Last night we met up with my nephew and his family for dinner. He chose @crawfishandnoodlesheights for us to visit. Dad had Lemonade, Hubby had Topo Chico, I had Lychee Love Potion, and Grace had Rose Water. Grace's drink tasted like a virgin drink, like water. We shared the Shaking Beef, Frog legs, Quail, Seafood Stir Fry Egg Noodles, Shrimp Fried Rice, and Grilled Oysters. Overall, the food was generally good. The oysters were a little gritty. Initially, the food came out fast. But when we ordered additional dishes, they came out so slow and there wasn't many people in the restaurant. Service was definitely 4 stars. The shrimp with the fried rice was pretty good size.

Yelp
New favorite! We have been eating a the original location for years. This new one has same great taste, better location (for us), and is much nicer. Boy did we pig out! Crawfish season is over so the ones we had were pretty small and seemed previously frozen, but I expect that when it's almost September. Even still, it certainly satisfied my crawfish craving. We will be back!!

Yelp
Watched the show Ugly Delicious with David Chang and knew if I ever went to Houston, I'd want to go to Crawfish & Noodle... I showed my wife the episode before we left and we both agreed this was a must hit place. I didn't go to the location on the episode, because Houston Traffic is the worst traffic I've ever seen in my life... I'm from the Philly area, so if you are ever from Philly and homesick, just drive around Houston... You'll feel right at home with unnecessary traffic... We came to this place late at night and let the server guide us through the meal.. We ordered two pounds each and some noodles... Different spice levels and soon the food came out. Was a sight to see! Bright red crawfish, noodles and vegetables, an empty bowl for everything else. We feasted and this meat was so great. People around us ordered all sorts of things, blue crabs, snow crabs, shrimp... We just did the viet cajun crawfish and loved every bite. Did I even need napkins, because my fingers were so clean from getting every last bit of flavor from them. When I returned to Houston a few weeks later for work, my boss and I decided to go here... It was an hour and 12 minutes from where we were at on GPS and earlier in the day, It would have been maybe a half hour and we had to leave for Austin. Sadly we didn't return and decided to just drive straight to Austin to not waste time. This place is the best and has the highest quality ingredients.

Yelp
This is the absolute best crawfish in houston. There is no comparison. The interior is cozy and comfortable. The owner is there and is always so friendly and attentive. The viet-Cajun crawfish is delicious. We also always order the salt and pepper blue crab. It is addicting. Would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
FYI: This restaurant is located next to the Houston Farmers Market so if you come at a busy time, you will have to navigate a crazy parking lot / struggle to park. Loved it! I have never been to the other location so I can't compare but I really enjoyed the food here. The crawfish was delicious -- the Viet-Cajun seasoning was great. Also, really loved the salt & pepper wings -- fantastic flavor/texture. The restaurant isn't big but the tables are spaced far apart and it feels really open. We had no problem bringing our toddler in a large stroller and parking her next to the table. Friendly and efficient service.

Yelp
Atmosphere: very chill not crowded Staff: young but friendly Food: decent The restaurant is clean and bathrooms as well. After placing an initial order of turkey necks, our waiter came back to say that they no longer had turkey necks. I then ordered 2 pounds of crawfish which she came back to say they only had 1 lb remaining. I recommend the EXTRA SPICY SPICE LEVEL. Most of my crawfish were pregnant so that was interesting.
google avatar

Yelp
Was in Houston for the weekend so decided to check this place out for crawfish. A laid back atmosphere that offers all the essential Cajun offerings. They have several different spices you can choose from. From mild up to dangerously spicy. The crawfish came out great and you order by the pound but you can't order a 1/2 pound. Service was good and a great spot to enjoy the Vietnamese Cajun Crawfish with great flavor.
google avatar

Nick P.

Yelp
This was my first time coming here. I was recommended this by my brother. The service was good. It was around lunch time so it wasn't super busy. We got the shrimp and the Viet Cajun crawfish. The crawfish came with corn, potato, and sausage. I loved everything that we ordered. The shrimp had a nice flavor from the salt & pepper and black pepper. Of course the Viet Cajun crawfish was the real winner. The special sauce was savory when you suck out the juices from the crawfish. The corn, potatoes, and sausages were cooked perfectly and I loved how they were just soaking in the sauce.

Yelp
We came on a Sunday night kind of late, we were the last and only one customer that night. We have the Viet blue crab, tamarind crab and feeb stir fry egg noodle . The cook was nice to use new oil to prepare one of the dishes (shrimp allergy) really appreciate the effort to prevent his client from being rush to the emergency room . Thank you appreciate the care on your costumers. Food was delicious and we left nothing in the plate . When we visit Houston again, will make time to come back and eat here.

Yelp
Dined in on a Wednesday at 3 pm for a party of 3 and seated immediately. This is my favorite crawfish spot! Everything is always fresh and clean! We ordered: Mild crawfish: even though it is mild, there's still a nice kick! I love the flavor, always hits the spot! Calamari: crispy goodness! I love the semi raw garlic that is sautéed with it. Cajun fries: I requested less Cajun seasoning, good crispy battered fries Tamarind snow crabs: delicious sweet and sour flavors!
google avatar

Simone S.

Yelp
The service was excellent! We really enjoyed the tamarind sauce, salt and pepper seasoning for shrimp was good too! The music is very club-esque, but good for a quick stop with a group, or to watch sports while lunching. It's a skip from the farmers market - you can get your spicy mango fix after a meal!
google avatar

Dede D.

Yelp
Stumbled on this hidden gem about a few months ago! Truly better than Crawfish Cafe hands down! We have been back several times and the food has been consistent, the attitudes of the manager and waitstaff has always been 10/10! Don't get discouraged by the location...you don't have to go in the farmers market. If you circle the parking lot....they have parking spaces conveniently located to their entrance. Also know that they are closed on Monday and Tuesday.
google avatar

Jay D.

Yelp
Loved it. The dishes are top notch and full of flavor. The staff was friendly and attentive. No one server waited on our table, there were several coming through to make sure we were fine. Definitely would come back. The fried rice was on fire!
google avatar

Patrica D.

Yelp
Your pricing online is totally different than the pricing at the restaurant. I ordered noodles with crawfish and the up charge was an additional $10. Online it shows $22 for noodles and seafood. I was very upset and annoyed at the price I was charged. If you're going to advertise something online, it needs to be in line with the menu at the restaurant. Which did not show the charge in writing.
google avatar

Anissa A.

Yelp
We sat at the bar tonight and had excellent service. Crawfish & Noodles always has awesome music playing and the menu is so good it sends you into a food coma when you get home.
google avatar

Minson V.

Yelp
Amazing people that care about your experience. Great food. Authentic, bold, and clean taste. I had the calamari, chicken wings, and fries.
google avatar

Brittney D.

Yelp
Man, this was disappointing as compared to my experience at the original location. Service was painfully slow and food was greasy.

Tausha S.

Yelp
This place is it! Crawfish fried rice and salt and pepper shrimp was top tier! Crab legs did what needed to be done! Fish Sauce wings were superb! Can't wait to go back for crawfish season, cause their sauce was amazing! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Enjoyed our dinner here. Staff is young. Waitress was good about checking if we needed anything and filling out drinks. Food came out in a timely fashion. Would recommend. Located at the back of the Houston's Farmers Market.

Yelp
So I really wanted to love this place so much ! I have been following their other location and when this one opened close to me I was so excited ! First of all the place is new and has a nice ambiance . It's welcoming and seems like there is enough space . So let me get into the food . First let's start with the calamari , we ordered it as an appetizer , it came last ! Flavor wise it was the best thing we ate the whole time ! It was flavorful and had a coating that was rich with different flavors and textures . I loved it the most . Crawfish - IT WAS $13 /LB YALL --- lord if this wasn't good they knew I was gonna head straight to yelp to leave this review . I got extra spicy and the level of spice was a 3 out of 5 -- WORST PART IT CAME OUT COLD ‼ how is it gonna be cold ?!? Even the 3 sauce ON THE SIDE I asked for came out COLD ‼ It was extremely hard to peel , it was very tough and seemed overcook not to mention for the price they weren't all that big !!! We are well into the season to have decent prices yall ! EVERYTHING CAME OUT SEPERATE AND AT DIFFERENT TIMES - THE BOILED EGGS WERE SERVED ALONE THE CORN SERVED ALONE AND NOT TO MENTION THE BUTTER WE ASKED FOR TO DIP THE CRAWFISH CAME OUT LAST after we were done with the crawfish and it was 3 dollars !!!!! I ordered a pound of shrimp and asked if it came with the head on I was advised yes -- the lies it came out in the boil sauce laid out on a plate ‍ who does that !!!!! Absolutely cold as well so I was not pleased . I got chicken fried rice to go and it was ok, after I drowned it in chili oil . Def not worth 16 dollars - plus the tip cause they stand there and watch you lol ( I paid seperate for this so it is not included in my breakdown below) Total was $73.00 for 2lbs of crawfish / 1lb of shrimp /3boiled eggs / 1 corn / 1 sauce 1 butter and fried calamari / 2 beers . Needless to say I will NEVER BE BACK TO THIS LOCATION !

Yelp
This place is great! The food is amazing! We started with the egg rolls and the chicken wings. We got both the Asian honey garlic and lemon pepper. The egg rolls were amazing and everyone at the table loved them! I loved the Asian honey garlic wings the most but everyone at the table loved the lemon pepper more. Overall great start to the meal. We got a mixture of everything to try and shared it all and I think that was the best way to do it! We got the chicken noodles and chicken fried rice and they were both very tasty. We got the crawfish boil and it was everything I wanted and more! So flavorful and amazing and I love that you can add the sides that you want to it! I also got the crawfish fried rice spicy and it was so good and spicy and had amazing flavor! One thing about the service is that the dishes came out when they were ready and not in any specific order so my suggestion is to order and share with the table!
google avatar

Jayson C.

Yelp
Awesome service & food. Flavors on point! The secret sauce is a must. Love the scrub sink (brushes provided) to wash away all the debris. Definitely a repeat!
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Every dish is delicious! The have to have the calamari every time I go! The staff is always so friendly and they give great recommendations.
google avatar

Clay C.

Yelp
Oh so good. So so good. Tried almost everything. Viet cajun crawfish, thai crawfish and shrimp, king crab. Everything was so damn good.
google avatar

Jeff E.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of stopping by here while I was in town. Some of the best crawfish and blue crab I've ever had!! They do great justice to the Cajun method of boiling while adding their own Vietnamese take on it. Various levels of spice to cater to any pallet. We opted for very spicy and did not regret it! Their stir fry dishes are fantastic, as well. Really fresh and flavorful! It's a smaller establishment but the noise isn't bad. Service is very quick and attentive and they are kid friendly (huge bonus for us). Can't wait to be back!
google avatar

Mandisa N.

Yelp
Food was disappointing. Wings weren't saucy or exciting enough. The noodles we got were just meh. Service was slow. For the quality of the food, the prices didn't match up.
google avatar

Zacq N.

Yelp
The crawfish is very mid and inconsistent. I got 12 lbs of the viet Cajun and one bag was ok and had flavor but the other had no flavor to it. The size was ok, some big ones. Sausage was dry and lacking in flavor. The caller misheard and only got me one order of wings which is fine but lack transparency when he said it would take less than 10 minutes and it ended up taking 20 minutes. The wing flavor was good but there wasn't much of it. Would not reccomend this place. If you want flavorful crawfish I would choose crawfish cafe.
google avatar

Julie P.

Yelp
We came here for seafood boil and the spicy viet cajun sauce was delicious and so flavorful!! Service was fast too. We left satisfied for sure. We tried the blue crabs, snow crabs, shrimp, clams, and this mussels app. The mussels were outstanding and I don't even like mussels. They had it in some sauce (I forgot which). We also tried the thai milk tea boba and that was bomb too. The tapioca was well cooked. I definitely recommend this place.
google avatar

Sonie P.

Yelp
Ordered delivery through a third party and it was delicious! Got the fried rice, vege noodles, snow crab, and shrimp. So tasty and flavorful. The snow crab was my favorite, but also the most expensive. Had to communicate on the phone with the restaurant and they were friendly and helpful. Can't wait to eat here again!
google avatar

Mayra N.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to grab lunch on Saturday around 1pm. Everything was going well until I made a request for my crawfish to come with everything included. The response from a staff member was " I don't know what you mean but I will bring you gloves and aprons" in a rude manner. After that comment the service went downhill and to top it off the food took longer than expected and once it finally came out it was WRONG!! After many attempts of trying to get our food order correct, we decided to pay and leave. From a person that works in the industry, this was a big disappointment.

Cali G.

Yelp
Service is terrible. Waited 30 minutes to get a drink. Had to get up and get my own straws and napkins.
google avatar

MB M.

Yelp
We ordered the shrimp thinking it was like boiling crab but it comes out like the picture I added, with a side of sauce so that made up for it. 7 pieces for like $16 or something around there was a litttttttle crazy. The flavor was good but the service was terrrrrrible that's really the only reason I'm giving a 3. Our food came out soooo awkwardly. My partners first then mine about 10-15 minutes later and we ordered the same thing. The waitress wasn't very attentive either.

M And J.

Yelp
The crawfish was spicy not seasoned at all, absolutely no flavor. It was very overpriced for the fact that it tasted like it just came out of the sea. The service was not good either. Wouldn't recommend.
google avatar

Salvi B.

Yelp
Today I tried crawfish and noodles for the first time. The atmosphere and ambience were amazing! I love the vibe and music. Alex was my server he was very attentive, welcoming, and definitely made my experience great. Drew was also very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed the Shaking Beef with the steam rice and the Salt and Pepper Shrimp! Both dishes were mouth watering and I will definitely be back. Ask for Alex if you go he will definitely give you full service!
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
The crawfish were huge, spicy and hot! I love the salt and pepper shrimp. This location is smaller and a little more upscale than the Bellaire location. Bellaire has a more authentic hectic atmosphere. Love them both but know they are different. Def go walk around the farmers market after a delish meal.
google avatar

Sherika F.

Yelp
The crawfish was $13/lbs and definitely not worth the price. The service was great and the staff was very welcoming. However, I will not be in a rush to return to this establishment.

Alexandra K.

Yelp
This place is really good! I don't know if I would come back because it is really expensive but the flavors are there and the store is unique! They charge $5 for a secret sauce that's basically the same flavor as the viet Cajun seasoning so save your money if you get that flavor. The crawfish itself was 50/50 some kinda mushy and some were pretty good. I hate to say it but service was kinda slow...However it's definitely worth checking out & this is a cool location to walk around on the weekends and see the market.

Michael W.

Yelp
Amazing Place. Quality Food, Great Staff. Food Presentation is 5 Star. The Best Chicken I've Ever Had.. Highly Recommend
google avatar

Diana N.

Yelp
Went in around 3 PM on Friday and they were open! Not sure why the hours here say they're closed. The food was amazing, but above all the service was outstanding. We'll definitely be coming back.

Eric L.

Yelp
With one of the last nice weekends of Spring, we decided to take a stroll to support a neighborhood restaurant. I've been a customer from their very first location and was hoping this location would succeed. We never were able to try the food. If you have younger kids who will need a high chair or booster seat, I would suggest going elsewhere. We were told there was one in the whole restaurant, which was being used. The staff didn't want to be there and the service didn't exist. Our concerns were brushed off so we left. We have always had a great time with Crawfish Cafe and they will continue to get our business.

Veronica C.

Yelp
The service is incredible! Lexi makes the absolute best iced coffees. Their noodles & the oh so crispy and incredibly juicy chicken cannot be beat! Don't forget to order sausage with your crawfish- you don't want to miss it! The food does come out as it's ready- which I love! That really lets you enjoy it allll hot and fresh. I've been back quite a few times since they've opened in the Houston Farmer's Market and I will continue returning.
google avatar

Zarina M.

Yelp
We stopped in during our visit to the Farmers Market. Sat at the bar and service was excellent (wish I remembered my servers name). Ordered coffee and crawfish. Both were delish! Ambiance was great too. It started to fill up as we were leaving.

Nicole F.

Yelp
I'm giving this place 1 star. It's not based on the food just based on our experience. We decided to go out for dinner on a Tuesday night. We made a reservation for 7:30pm. When we arrived they didn't have a table for us. They sat us at a table facing a wall and said they would seat us when the table was cleared. That took 30mins. So we waited for 30mins at a table facing the wall no one ever came to take a drink order or anything. They finally sat us at a table just so we could be ignored further. After another 25 minutes of waiting with no acknowledgment we decided to leave and go somewhere else. Very disappointing because the menu looked good and we were excited to try the food. After that experience though I don't think we will return.
google avatar

Cam C.

Yelp
Walked out before ordering, the food smells good. The service, side eye and eye roll was disgusting

Jared W.

Yelp
Great service, and amazing food. Highly recommend. They've got the kinks worked out now. Wasn't too busy on a Saturday right at noon.
