Excellent service! Great food. This was our second time going. They offer different duck dishes. If you don't like duck they have a really good pork with rice or pork with noodles. My husband got the duck burrito. He loved it. The duck burrito is like a giant spring roll wrapped in a tortilla. It was light enough but filled him up. We can't wait to go back to this little gem of a resturant.

I came for the duck burrito, but when I didn't see it on the menu and asked for it, they looked at me like I was in the wrong place.. with that being said, I went to the next best sounding option, the roasted duck noodle soup. The duck still had bone and lots of cartilage, so you really had to get hands-on to eat this soup. My wife wasn't happy at all about that. If it was separated and chopped, it would have been much more pleasant. The noodles were good. I did like how they had hot and sour soup available as you wait. It did taste authentic and flavorful. We also ordered shrimp dumplings & the pork Xiao long bao. It seemed like the shrimp dumplings were mixed with pork, as u can see on my pictures. But I will say both were also delicious. When the xaio and dumplings came out, plates never came with it... I had to walk up front and ask. Although the woman at the register was friendly, the service lacked. I also had to retrieve my to-go containers to take home my wife's leftover soup. This isn't table service, but at the least, bring plates with the food. With all that being said, it was hard to place a 5 stars on it.

Google
First time coming to this place. I love dumplings and soups. The short ribs looked way better in the picture and plating was not the best. They have complimentary soup for dine in. The price was a bit high for an appetizer and dumplings. Over all it was ok for lunch a bit too much in price.

Google
Crispy juicy duck. Crunchy on the outside, soft and meaty on the inside. And good portions too. Spicy noodles that fill your taste bud's needs and compliments the duck quite well. Free soup for dine in customers (there was corn soup and sweet and sour soup). Super nice customer service. All at a reasonable price of about 12-15 dollars per person plus tax and tips. What more can someone want? Overall a nice joint and we No longer will be driving to Convoy for roasted duck.

Google
Gave this place a try for a quick lunch and was really pleased. I had the duck fried rice and it was delicious, also the portion was huge! Really flavorful though. Also tried the duck over noodles. The duck in this dish was better but messy. Noodles were good but nothing special. There was free hot and sour soup which I thought was excellent. We’ll absolutely be back!

This place was opened by the same owner of Taste of Hunan and FanFan. It’s a pretty nice Cantonese style food cafe. You order from the counter and they bring the foods over. We had a combo plate with duck and pork. They are both nice, but I have to say the duck is little bit too lean for my taste. I want more fat part under the skin. We also had a Xiao Long Bao, they are big baos, nice size and yummy. The cafe have a self serve station where you can get free unlimited spicy sour soup. The soup is really delicious, probably the best dish in the dinner.

Google
Got Roast Duck with Noodle today. The duck meat is very juicy, firm but tender, The noodle's texture is super good, chewing, soft but not saggy with big flavor taste, also a little bit spicy. The portion also is big with a lot of duck meat, noodles and veggies. They also provide free all you can eat hot 'n sour soup when you dine in. I love this place.

Google
Wasn’t bad. Definitely an acquired taste. Growing up eating duck every Sundays, this brought back memories. Got the duck burrito and pork fried rice with their free hot and sour soup. Authentic tasting Chinese food. Next time I’ll get the actual duck combo. Clean dining area.

Yelp
Restaurant featuring roasted duck on their menu, yes please! I was also wanting some stir fry noodles which I saw pictures of. Since we were in the area, we finally came here. Unfortunately they changed their menu since opening and some of the items we really wanted were no longer on the menu like the stir fry noodles and Siu Mai. These are the items we tried. - Duck fried rice: the duck was delicious and I was hoping it would taste just like that in yummy fried rice. But the rice was just ok, with small hints of the duck. - Roast duck & bbq pork platter: Duck again is absolutely delicious! Bbq pork was a bit tough, which sucked. -Salt pepper chicken wings: these were just ok. I would pass on these next time. - Combo dumplings: XLB & pork dumplings The XLB is delicious, the pork dumplings were just ok. I guess I was expecting something like a pot sticker, which it was not. Overall not bad. It was not the wow I was hoping for since I absolutely love roast duck. Restaurant is spacious, and plenty of seating. If you dine in, there's free hot and sour soup. They also offer a 10% discount for police, military and fire fighters which you don't ever see and is great! 2024: 16

Yelp
This is a mix of different chinese cuisines but by its name it seems that their specialty is roast duck. So we ordered the roast duck and the meat was tender but the skin wasn't crispy and it was a big disappointment. We also got char siu BBQ pork, it was very bland and it didn't have the charred meat that makes a good BBQ pork also, they put a sauce on top of it which I didn't like so I would not order it again. The Garlic Green Beans were good. We also got BBQ pork fried rice and it was so so. They give free sweet and sour soup which you can serve by yourself. In summary I was quite disappointed of this place.

Yelp
In the same plaza as AMC & Stater Bro's. New to the area with a variety of duck dishes and other meats as well! They have a loyalty card too, spend at least $10 at 5 separate visits, get a free meal (up to $10). Plenty of seating inside. Self serve sauces other than the dumping sauce on each table. There is a QR code to scan to place your order, or of course you can also place an order at the front cashier. The workers were very nice. We got the whole duck for $40 and it was so fresh and crispy I thoroughly enjoyed it. More expensive than the other places we go for duck (I.e. sam woo, 99 ranch, eastern dynasty). My SO mentioned it wasn't fatty enough and would have liked some of that duck sauce (drippings) to get that juiciness. I thought it was perfect though, since I don't like all that fat on my duck. It also has a lot of meat! We also tried the dumpling combo. Which was ok, but I really enjoyed their chili oil sauce and their duck "plum sauce" is a sweet & sour sauce that isn't too bad either! There is an area where you can see them hand make their dumplings. The duck is more expensive here than other places, but you can taste the difference in quality. Will be back to try the noodle and rice dishes!

Yelp
We've been here many times and my favorite is the Roast duck noodle soup, it's very good and flavorful! They also give lots of duck meat in the soup which makes it worth the price. I've also tried the Duck fried rice (another one of our favorites) and BBQ pork, both which are also very good. My husband tried the Mapo tofu over noodles which was surprisingly good, but didn't come with any meat. We haven't tried the wontons or rice bowls but hope to in the future. There is usually plenty of open seating when we come, and the service is friendly and fast (it's almost like a fast food restaurant). We also like the free hot and sour soup whenever we dine in (though the soup tastes a little sweet). The menu is limited, but everything seems reasonably priced and they give decent sized portions. I would definitely recommend trying this Chinese restaurant!

Alex R.

Yelp
Ordered to go. Got the salt and pepper chicken wings, duck and pork platter, dumpling combo, and roast duck fried rice. The best part was the dumpling combo, 4 pork dumplings and 4 Xiao longs baos. They were good. Nothing special about the wings. Liked the platter and fried rice. Liking the restaurant with duck everywhere on the menu.

Yelp
This place has been on our list to try for a while and we finally tried today. Came in at 11ish, there were a few tables. Pretty much self serve which is nice. We love Cantonese roast duck and our expectations were pretty high and didn't think that we can find anything authentic like this in Poway! They serve Cantonese bbq along with xlb dumplings, and stir fries. The rice bowls are huge in portions which is what we need to feed our hungry teens. The roast duck was crispy and flavorful, bbq pork was tender and juicy, and the stir fry green beans were tender and burst in flavors. You always get free hot and sour soup if you dine in. I didn't expect the soup to be so good. It was loaded with tofu, black fungus and other veggies! Service was prompt and the server was really nice. We will be frequent customers!

Katherine W.

Yelp
A hidden gem in Poway and worth the trek! We came here after multiple recommendations from friends and the food did not disappoint. We came on a Saturday for dinner with a group of four and the space was big with plenty of seating and the service was quick though there were several parties already there. We ordered dumplings, xiao long bao, duck over rice, duck noodle soup and veggies and every dish was delightful. The prices are also so reasonable. We will definitely be back!

Joyce L.

Yelp
I love that this is a designated duck place! Hate that it's so far away in Poway, lol. Thought it was a sit-down restaurant, but actually feels more like a take-out spot. As with most food places, some dishes are bangers, others are meh. I would definitely get the duck fried rice again and the garlic green beans were a hit. If I were to make the trek out to Poway again, I would try their duck noodle soup.

Timmy D.

Yelp
If you love duck, you'll love this place! The duck is cooked well and the portions are great for the price. The noodles are hand pulled and the broth brings it all together. The chili wontons are a must try as well. Plenty of seating and complimentary hot and sour soup that is pretty good. You get the restauranty quality food in a fast food ambiance

Allison L.

Yelp
Would recommend this spot! Their whole duck was $40 I love the way they marinate and cook it. Super juicy and great great flavor. The salt and pepper chickens were also a hit for me! Lots of flavor, stayed crispy for a while. The spicy wontons were okay. Not the biggest fan of the sauce and they were overcooked so they fell apart really easily. No phone orders, online only. But the workers pick up the phone promptly if you have any questions.

Yelp
I've been here twice now! The first time was with some foodie friends who wanted to check this place out, so we decided to celebrate February birthdays here. It's a fast-casual restaurant, so you order at the counter and then they bring out their food to you. It was nice that you can help yourself to a free cup of hot and sour soup with every order! You might also be able to catch them make fresh dumplings towards the entrance, which is always cool to watch. I ordered the bbq pork, which was flavorful and the ratio of meat to rice was great. I also tried the dumplings, and duck as well. My friends had the chow mein, fried dumplings, etc. Everything was pretty good! The next time I had the soup dumplings and some dumplings dumped a spicy broth. It was so fresh and even better the second time around.

Sharon B.

Yelp
Delicious roasted duck fried rice, chicken wings, and Xiao long bao. Everything was flavorful. They have complementary soup too. Today's was a very tasty hot and sour soup.

Yelp
I love a good char siu/Chinese bbq pork. When I saw they serve a honey bbq pork here, I had to try it. I walked in for a late lunch and ordered the honey bbq pork combo plate. The combo plate comes with fried rice, egg roll, and a salad for $14. When the plate was delivered, I was surprised at the generous amount of bbq pork. I soon realized that most of it was fatty. I appreciate some fat for moisture and flavor but there was too much fat for me. I managed to get enough to eat but I left a big pile of pork that was too fatty for my tastes. I also didn't care for the amount of sauce they put on the pork. The fried rice looked flavorful but had no taste. The egg roll was all veggies and was just ok. The salad was served with a sour ranch and I thought it didn't go with the rest of the meal. The actual highlight of the meal was the free hot and sour soup that I got after I was done because I didn't realize it was serve yourself and right by the door. That soup was hot and delicious. Service was friendly and the restaurant was clean.

Jennifer F.

Yelp
My friends took me here and I was very impressed by the bbq pork. Extremely tender, juicy, flavorful, and deliciously sweet. The duck on the other hand left much to be desired. Mine was mostly bone and was disappointing. Duck is my fave and it definitely missed the mark here. We also ordered the xlb n that was yummy, unfortunately didn't see any vinegar provided though (thats the only way!). The cucumber salad was just alright to me, could be more garlicky and flavorful. I will say though that these plates here feel Americanized by the salad, fried rice, and eggroll. I'm used to white rice and bok choy in my plates and I definitely prefer that more. FYI if you dine in, you can unlimited hot and sour soup. The soup was really good!

Yelp
We love this place! Chen is fantastic and always gives me a big hug when my friends and I come in for lunch or dinner. It's always nice when people truly appreciate your business and our genuinely kind and friendly. Thanks Chen! My co-workers and I also come here every week or so for our fave dishes. -Wontons in Spicy Chili Oil: perfectly cooked wontons in a delicious sauce with just the right kick -Roasted Duck Fried Rice: meaty pieces of duck in a flavorful fried rice -Xiao Long Bao: freshly made dumplings that are pretty hefty in size with a dipping sauce and ginger...YUM! -Honey Duck Lunch Special: for about $10, you get their duck in a slightly sweet/savory sauce, egg roll, rice and salad...perfect if you are dining solo. When you dine in, they serve a very tasty complimentary hot and sour soup...better than most restaurants I've been to but even better that it's free, lol. Delish! I love supporting small businesses and am so happy they are so closeby. It is a favorite spot that my work family and I like to frequent often. Please give them a try if you are in the Poway area. 5 stars all the way!

Yelp
It was my family's first time dining at "Crazy Duck" in Poway. They offer complimentary Hot & Sour Soup for their "dine-in" customers. The Roasted Duck Noodle Soup & their Char Siu Pork (Chinese BBQ Pork) Soup were both savory & flavorful! There's a good portion of meat in each soup. We were served our food promptly & I was amazed to have seen a cook making FRESH duck dumplings!! "Crazy Duck" offers BIG portions! Their customer service was excellent, the cashier was friendly & helpful on suggesting some of our dishes. My family & I ordered plenty of food & we can't wait to try their "highly- recommended" Duck Fried Rice!! :D

Dan E.

Yelp
Crazy Duck is such a charming little fast-service Chinese restaurant. Situated in an east Poway strip mall, in between the AMC theaters and Statler Brothers. The staff here is incredibly friendly and welcoming. They have a rather small yet thoughtful menu featuring a variety of duck dishes. If you're not into the quack, there's enough other options to please just about anyone. Dine-in customers are offered a complimentary serving of their Hot & Sour Soup. You're invited to serve yourself from two large vats near the front window. The soup was tasty, although the mouthfeel was somewhat more viscous than I like. It was quite richly flavored. Here you order at the counter and your food is delivered to the table. Some items are served in to-go containers which I find tacky and awkward. On to the food now, I ordered the Spicy Pork Wontons which were outstanding! I felt the sauce was a perfect level of spice without being overbearing. The wontons seemed house-made and contained a generous amount of flavorful pork. After eating about half this dish, the texture became monotonous. May be best to share with someone rather than trying to eat the whole serving yourself. I also had the Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings (served in a paper box) which were excellent. Perfectly breaded, crispy and liberally seasoned on the outside; meaty and juicy on the inside. Included 3 drummettes and 3 flats. Definitely needed a good surgeon style hand washing after this one.

Marcus F.

Yelp
I found out that I'm not crazy about the taste of duck. But through this experience I found some delicious offerings that really set Crazy Duck apart from other food concepts in the area. If you're unfamiliar with the taste of duck I would recommend ordering their Duck Fried Rice. It's distinct, but not overbearing with the rich taste of duck. Very good. - Dumplings, they make them fresh here. - BIg thank you for offing dine-in customers free Hot and Sour soup! It's tough ordering this soup at Chinese themed restaurants because it's so expensive to just order a single cup. Not only was this free but it was delicious! - Their BBQ pork was also very good. Recommended. - In their dining area there's a big picture of Lake Poway. I'm guessing that's where they source their ducks?

George A.

Yelp
Did not fit our $50 date budget for two. We exceeded by almost $30 but the meal is worth it. We ordered family style and we have leftovers enough for another 2-3 people. So technically this fits the $50 date budget for 2 people. Everything here is great! All the food we ordered are very tasty and not that oily compared to other Chinese Restaurants. So I will just rank the food (1 being the best) based on what we ordered but all of them deserve 5 stars: 1. BBQ Pork Fried Rice - you can just order this and you'll be okay. 2. Honey BBQ pork 3. Roast Duck 4. Spicy Pork Wanton 5. Hot and Sour Soup 6. Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings. All of these for $79 is worth it! We enjoy our meal and experience at this place.

Anthony A.

Yelp
Found this place on yelp and decided to give it a shot. Salt and pepper chicken wings are perfect amount of spice and flavor. Way better than anything you'll find at wing stop or BWW. Service is great and love that this place is nice and quiet. Prices are super reasonable AND they give a discount for police, fire, ems and military. Would come back here again in a heartbeat

Mei T.

Yelp
I took my daughter here for a late lunch and she fell in love with the food here. It's her new favorite place for Chinese comfort food and she's already telling all of her friends. For our visit, we can ordered the spicy wonton and xiao long bao for $11.99 each. When dining in, the hot and sour soup was complimentary. The spicy wontons had just the right amount of heat level that wasn't overpowering. The sauce was very flavorful and we definitely recommend this dish! The xiao long bao dumplings were very juicy and full of flavor. They were also much bigger in comparison to other restaurants. The hot and sour soup hit the spot! So yummy! We enjoyed our food and quality mother-daughter time. I love how the quality of the food and customer service were consistent with my first visit. That's two 5-stars for me!

Robert Z.

Yelp
Re Visited 8/8/2023 Still the same little restaurant. Unfortunately this time Service was Lacking. No table Service. If you need anything you have to get up and walk to the front counter and ask for whatever you need. The food still has good flavor. I ordered The Duck & Pork Platter Combo. It was nicely plated but unfortunately The Duck and Pork was quite dry. Not the same standards as the first time visiting. The Free Soup was excellent. Fantastic Flavor and Texture. It was the hero of the day. Also ordered The Spicy Wontons. The Wontons were over steamed to the point of being mushy. Also as before the Spicy Chile Oil in the dish wasn't at all spicy Laking in Chili Flavor. Sadly I had to go down on my Rating from 4 stars to 3 this visit. Hopefully the owners will see this review and add better customer service and better quality control on the preparation of food like they gave me my first visit. They were very nice people I wish them the very best. Time will tell and I will be back to try more of the menu.

Yelp
I'm always amazed if there's a spot for legit Beijing Roasted Chicken AKA Peking duck. And Crazy Duck is that spot. Came by after a long day of hiking in East SD, and I was looking for a hearty filling lunch. Crazy Duck still had people in the early afternoon when I stopped by. They have a bunch of indoor seating, and a few outdoor spots if you want that fresh air (nothing special, since it's mostly cold and in the shade). There's tons of parking as it's in a huge plaza with a bunch of other shops/stores. I love that everybody in this establishment is smiley, friendly, and Chinese! We love a spot that's owned and operated by legit workers. It's also cool to see the noodle lady/guy making the hand-pulled noodles out front. I went for their namesake duck noodle soup, and some shrimp dumplings for takeout. The duck noodle soup was delicious...the soup does have a milky appearance to it, so you can tell it's cooked with the fat form the duck. The broth tasted rich but not fatty at all, although I chose not to drink it all. I wish there was more bok choy in it, but the noodles were QQ and tasty. The duck itself was delicious--kinda reminded me of the duck that's sold in Costo (it's tasty, no shade). Portions are perfect, I left feeling full. It's a nice spot to get your Chinese duck fix if you just happen to be in Poway. But it's not a spot I would go out of my way to stop at, a solid spot among other choices like Board & Brew and The Habit burgers in this same plaza.

Audrey P.

Yelp
Just when you think it can't get any better Crazy Duck kicks it up a notch. I was surprised to go back in and see how much it changed. They removed the tall pub tables and put in some booths, updated the menu, and added fresh dumplings! In fact, all of the dumplings are soup dumplings except the gyoza, which are pan-fried. They even created a secret menu....how fun? I tried some dumplings, duck over rice, and smashed cucumbers. Yes, you correctly heard me smashed cucumbers. They are really made with garlic and a sauce. Yum! I absolutely loved everything. I also recommend getting the savory sauce with the duck. It's delicious! I do wish they would provide some vinegar and chili paste with the dumplings. Hint hint. Can't wait to see what they do next. I absolutely loved the surprise. I will be back for more duck and dumplings. Can't wait!

Alex G.

Yelp
I saw this place on tiktok and decided to take the drive to come visit. I love peking duck so this place really interested me! PSA they no longer serve the duck burrito! They had sweet and sour soup free for dine-in customers, a nice touch! You can order at the counter or using the QR codes on the table. The place has tons of seating and parking, always a plus! I ordered the duck noodles and was really surprised at how good it was!! The duck was seasoned so well and was pretty juicy. The skin was crispy and the meat was tender. The noodle bowl had so many noodles, I couldnt finish it lol. But the overall dish, ESPECIALLY THE DUCK, was sooooo good. I will def be coming back!

Brenda N.

Yelp
Duck fried rice and bbq meats were really good. For dining in, there was also hot and sour soup, which was a nice mini appetizer while waiting for the food to come.

Julie B.

Yelp
Highly recommend dining in before 8:00pm if you can. You can either order takeout up front or dine in and order/pay via QR code at your table. Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Open lot parking, and pricing is decent for the quality and area. We had the duck fried rice, spicy chili oil wontons, and XLB. The portion of rice was large and plenty enough for our group of 3 for dinner. The staff is so friendly and they have a station up front where you can see the dumplings/wontons being prepared, not to mention the free hot & sour soup station! Will be back to try their bbq duck & noodle soups

Nadia C.

Yelp
I think this place has a lot of potential because of the hype surrounding their handmade dumplings. I've had their beef soup, which is tasty. I was a little disappointed when it came to the soup dumplings, because I was really expecting more of a depth in flavor. But, if you like soup dumplings in general, I think you should be OK to give this place a try. On my end, I just wish things would've been a little more tasty. The service is very friendly, and the place is spacious and not too loud, depending on the time of day that you visit. Also, if you're eating there you get free hot and sour soup while you wait. But that is only if you eat inside the establishment, not to go.

Patricia C.

Yelp
The food is absolutely delicious and priced pretty low compared to the rest of the market. I have been twice and have had dumplings, BBQ pork, bok choy, and braised beef over noodles. A major watchout is that they do not list allergens. Peanut-based sauce is in the braised beef over noodles, and while it is so good, this could lead to deadly anaphylactic shock. I only found out because the first time I went there, I specifically asked based on smell -- after my son ate it -- and he is allergic. The staff took my question seriously and got me the right answer quickly. Then when I followed up via Yelp, they double confirmed that this dish has a peanut-based sauce. I suggested that they call out allergens to prevent any issues and they replied that it was a good idea. This was back in October, and it's now February... no sign of implementing the suggestion. I went back to the restaurant a 2nd time and ordered the same dish and there was no indication of this allergen on the menu or in the verbal ordering interaction. If you have food allergies, you may want to avoid this restaurant -- or bring an Epi-pen and ask a lot of questions when ordering. The restaurant closes in the mid-afternoon. The 2nd time I went, I arrived shortly before the mid-afternoon close. They said that they'd pack up our meal and we could eat outside. It wasn't the most pleasant because it was cold, wet, and the tables were rusty and also wet. But it was OK after I went to get a jacket from my car, and the food was very good. While they were closed, it was very interesting to me to see the volume of people that came by and tried to open the door. I sat outside the whole time they were closed and was there when they reopened. On the inside, the furnishing is pretty basic and clean. You can also order from your table using a QR code, if dining in. Despite the 3 stars, I do recommend this restaurant highly; just be careful if you have allergies and if you want to dine-in, avoid the mid-afternoon close timeframe.

Jenna N.

Yelp
This is our 4th or 5th visit. Ordered the roast pork and duck platter, XLB and steamed chicken buns. Not sure if the chef or ownership has changed. The only thing that tasted the same as our previous visits is the complimentary hot and sour soup. The roast pork is very dry, the roast duck has very little flavor, XLB has weird tasting dark minced pork filling, and the steamed chicken bao filling has minced meat that tasted more like pork than chicken with the same seasoning as the XLB! My husband even asked them "are you sure this is chicken? I used to love their homemade chili, even this doesn't taste good anymore. What happened? Definitely our last time unless they changed back to the original flavors.

Lemmor P.

Yelp
Char siu bbq pork and Peking duck in Poway? It's true, and this gem tucked away next to AMC theaters and Baskin Robins is the real deal. Crazy Duck serves authentic and flavorful dishes, sure to please the most seasoned asian food aficionados. The menu is not overly complicated; the menu is simple Chinese BBQ and complimenting iron wok dishes. Oh, they, make their own noodles here, so try the Dan Dan noodles!! The stand outs: ***** Honey Glazed BBQ Pork ***** Fried Rice with Duck ***** Dan Dan noodles (not on menu, but ask) ***** Dumplings Everything was made to order, and arrived super quick. The owner was here the day we went and made sure everything was to our liking. Great addition to north county!!

James V.

Yelp
Really fantastic! Tucked in a shopping strip is Crazy Duck. You can guess their specialty and gosh was it good! Lots of locals enjoying inside. Spacious restaurant with self service on utensils, drinks, and complimentary hot and sour soup. Staff was polite with prompt service. The duck noodles were incredible. Outstanding flavor and crispy, decadent skin. Chewy noodles. Spacious interior with plentiful parking. Definitely recommended and hoping to return soon.

Yelp
For a place I thought placed freshness above anything else, they gave such old, dry food today. When I mean old, I mean OLD. Like, been dry for days old. I couldn't even fathom that I was ordering from the same restaurant that had given me fresh duck for the many days I have ordered from here. I ordered during noon, so you would think they would give fresh food at lunch time..but no. I got the duck and pork platter. It came out to a total of $22.36(with tip), but remind me to not tip so generously for a takeout and expect to get fresh food because I was SO disappointed. I'm not sure why they thought it was okay to give old food like that. Pork was so burnt, and heckin' dry. I know, I know..why would I order pork from a place that is primarily known for duck..but guess what. Duck was old too! No juiciness perspired from the duck I had this afternoon... I'm not sure..I'd have to contemplate ever coming back.

Yelp
5/5 crazy ducks noodle soup!! The ducks super moist and juicy!! The noodles are very fresh! Tastes house made!! Definitely a great noodle soup!! Their spicy wontons were good too! Their duck with rice is the same thing except with rice! The duck once again was super good! The spare ribs were not too bad as well! If you dine in, the hot and sour soup is free!! Definitely good to grab a cup of soup! Highly recommend our total was about $65 for all this food. The food is a lot bigger than it looks. Parking is very good Customer service is awesome! Thank you guy in the front for being so nice and helpful!!! I love the service! Come support this place! They also offer catering services!!

Yelp
Food here a lot less traditional than I was expecting but still satisfactory. I was surprised by the steamed carrots, peas, and corn combo in the rice bowl and the teriyaki like sauce on the duck. Both were things I've never seen paired with roasted duck but good nonetheless. We came post lunch rush so the service was speedy and it was mentally noted that the staff spoke English fluently. It should be noted, however, if you're looking for Chinese roasted duck I would recommend curbing expectations a little. Given that this place is in poway, a predominantly white community, I'd say they've adapted the dishes well to more an American taste.

Yelp
Crazy Duck (C+ ) For anyone from Hong Kong, BBQ duck and char siu are staples, like burgers to Americans or pasta to Italians. So when Crazy Duck first opened during the pandemic, being so close relatively close to home, I immediately went and took out a whole duck. Many reviews said it was amazing, but for me, it was merely okay - not bad, not great - something in the range of a B-, and definitely not as good as any of the usual suspects for Cantonese food, specifically Eastern Dynasty, Nobel Chef or Taste of Hong Kong. That was about 18 months ago. With life pretty much back to normal, I figured it would only be fair to re-evaluate after tasting fresher food at the restaurant vs. take-out. We ordered two lunch combos - one with BBQ duck & char siu, and another with the honey chicken. The combos came with a ranch / mayonnaise drenched salad, lukewarm, lumpy fried rice, and hot & sour soup. So, going through the common side dishes first. Hot & sour soup (B ) : This was actually the star of the meal. The flavor was authentic with an okay balance of spice and sourness. The consistency was a touch on the starchy side, but not too bad, and there was a generous amount of the proper ingredients to give texture and substance. Definitely one of the better hot & sour soups I've had in the US. Fried rice (C ) : "Wok hay", the breath of the wok, is essential for good fried rice. Feel free to search "Uncle Roger egg fried rice" and will see many clips describing how proper fried rice should be made. Fried rice served piping hot is as important as ice cream served cold. Lumpy, lukewarm fried rice is unacceptable. It didn't get a lower mark because at least flavor wise, it was acceptable. Salad (C ) : The veggies neither looked nor tasted fresh, drenched in a ranch or mayonnaise like dressing. For Chinese food, a side of stir fried veggies or even boiled lettuce with oyster sauce would have made much more sense. I guess this was the logistically easier way to offer some type of veggies. As for the proteins, the duck (B- ) : The skin texture was too wrinkly to be considered "good" but the actual texture was acceptable, although lacking flavor. Many herbs are used when properly making a duck, stuffed into the cavity when cooking to infuse the meat with those flavors. This duck tasted relatively bland and a touch overcooked. That said, it's a duck, so still very edible. Char siu (C+ ) : It looked like char siu but only hinted at what char siu is supposed to taste like. It tasted like some random slightly sweet and savory, overcooked, soft pork. Char siu shouldn't be overly soft, like pulled pork prior to being pulled apart. But one bite and I suspected that it was either pre-boiled or put into a pressure cooker first. They would have been better calling it sweet & savory pork rather than char siu. Honey chicken (C+ ): Sweet and savory chicken like you'd get from Panda Express, but overcooked. It didn't taste too bad, but I certainly can't say it was good. Ultimately, not a place I would go back to. But if you're in desperate need of BBQ duck and hate driving to the Convoy area, then I don't think there's much of a choice. ---------------------------------------------------------- Grading scale: A+: You absolutely have to try this place, even if it's a big effort to get there and may or may not cost an arm & leg. Oh, and parking might suck pretty badly too so be prepared. A: Awesome spot and worth the effort, say up to a 45 minute drive with painful parking and may cost an arm only. A-: Very very good. 30 minute drive, a little pain parking. May or may not be pricey. B+: Very good, and a little bit of driving is fine. B: Acceptably good and a solid choice if in the area, but not a destination restaurant. B-: Not bad, reasonable choice if in the area and it's difficult to get to a better spot. C+: You're really hungry and want something to eat, this place won't make you foodie happy, but at least now, you're full. C: Mediocre. You ate, and you're thinking "meh". Probably not coming back, but not bad enough to make you angry. C-: Okay, that was kinda sucky. Not coming back but feeling a little pissed about the bad restaurant choice. Dummy. D: WTF?! Would have rather stayed hangry. Hope this place closes down soon. F: You're secretly planning how to get the place shut down without getting caught, and wishing your worst enemy has to eat from this place the rest of his / her life.

Yelp
They have Great food and excellent service! This place exceeded my expectations! Glad that I gave it a try.

Yelp
We tried the xiao long bao here and they were not the best we've had. I think there are a couple other spots that do soup dumplings in Poway area that I'd rather go to. But that being said, they weren't the worst I've had. I'm not sure if they make them in house or if they're frozen but to me they tasted similar to the frozen ones from the Asian grocery stores. We ordered to go and ate them on the tables outside, where we noticed that half of the dumplings were already cracked/broken so all the juice had already come out.

Yelp
Back at it again, last time was good, this time still good. Service was very nice, the prices are still same. Still has the free soup which felt really good for the tummy with this weather. 2nd bowl and I might have another lol

Yelp
Ok ok I The 5 star is really for the duck lol! Jk. We had a good time at this place. Food was definitely worth to try! I love their duck! Other food was good as well I just got so full cause the serving was quite big.

Yelp
I love that this restaurant just focuses on duck! It definitely has more of a fast-food feel inside, but service and food quality and flavor were all great! It's in a huge shopping complex so parking is very easy. You order at the counter and then get seated at one of the many booth tables. For two and for a lighter meal, we ordered one duck fried rice to share. If you dine-in, you also get free soup. The hot and sour soup didn't taste like what you'd typically taste at a Chinese restaurant but for free soup it was good. The duck fried rice was delicious! Tons of pieces of duck, tons of flavor and great portions too. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
We went to the movies next door and saw that they changed their menu. Since it seemed more authentic we wanted to try again. They got rid of the duck burrito and their other fusion items. They now offer dumplings, wings , and noodle soups etc! So we ordered the bbq pork, beef noodle soup and chicken wings to go. Funny we didn't order any duck LOL. It was a huge improvement and we will be back to try the dumplings and duck dishes and will dine in. I really believe the food would taste even better if we ate there.

Yelp
Finished a hike at Iron Mountain and decided to grab food near Poway. I've never heard of this place before but after reading the reviews, I decided to give it a go. First off, the restaurant is very tidy and clean. It's a casual sit down restaurant where you order at the front and they bring the food to you. I got the Duck noodle soup and the Xiao long bao. Both did not disappoint! The broth could have been a bit hotter but I love my soup boiling hot so that's a personal preference. I ended up sitting outside because I have my little doggy with me. Jeremy brought out my food and was very attentive even after dropping it off. He even came by to drop off napkins, water and boxes as he saw I could not go inside. I would highly recommend checking this place out! Oh, and they give out free hot and sour soup if you dine in!

Yelp
Crazy Duck is such a great place to bring the family. It appears to be a family owned business & the staff are welcoming & friendly. Their duck fried rice is very delicious and would be the perfect catering dish to bring to a family get-together or potluck event. I would recommend dining inside the restaurant versus ordering take out because you can enjoy free all you can eat hot & sour soup which is so nice to have on a cold, rainy day.

Yelp
An interesting name for a place that specializes in Cantonese Roast Duck. For the community of Poway to have such a business in their midst is a bonus. The suite is close to the AMC Poway 10 movie theater in the Creekside Plaza. The inside seating was clean and spacious. A glass cabinet had multiple cooked ducks hanging on display. Off to the right when you walked in was a soup station which was complimentary if you dined in. The variety of soup periodically changes. On the day of our visit, hot & sour was the flavor. Our lunch happened to coincide with the debut of their new menu which added char siu (honey BBQ pork) as a protein. There are now nine combos with rice, dry noodles, or noodle soup as a base to go with a choice of meat. Duck as a burrito, in fried rice, or a salad remained on the menu. Half and whole ducks were being sold at $19.99 and $39.99 respectively. These were really high prices, however the cost may be worthwhile if it means not having to drive farther away to buy such a product. After my friend chose the Roast Duck with Noodle, I decided to pick the Honey BBQ Pork with Rice. Each item was served in a bowl to-go. While waiting for our order, we each ladled a serving of soup to enjoy before the entree. The soup tasted salty and was not as sour as I have been accustomed to elsewhere. About a half pound of sliced char siu was served on top of white rice and baby bok choy. The hoisin flavor on the pork was milder than I had expected while the portion size of the bowl was okay. I tried a piece of roast duck from my friend's container. The skin was not as crispy as it looked, but the taste was good. The quality and quantity of food for the price led me to give a rating between three and four stars.

Yelp
We ordered to go here and it was okay but definitely not the best. The soup dumplings were soupy but texture of the meat was a little off. Flavor of the soup inside dumplings was okay. The duck fried rice was super dark in color, which usually indicates it's a little Americanized. I prefer traditional Chinese fried rice where it's almost colorless...so don't expect that here. The salt and pepper chicken wings were probably my favorite item. The seasoning and fry coating were perfect. The spicy chili wontons were good, nice flavor, wonton texture and flavor could be a little better. The roasted duck was pretty decent. Skin was crispy, duck flavor was good. The chicken noodle soup was a little strange, with some corn nuts inside. The menu was a little smaller than what was posted on yelp when i arrived at the store, so be prepared for more limited items.

Yelp
This place is SO DELICIOUS. Just a caveat though: I love everything duck, and this place is just what this duck-eating-loving girl needed in her life but never knew she needed. Duck cooked whichever way - Cantonese, French, Chinese, in Pate form, I will eat it. Items ordered: The bf wanted Duck Burrito - He mentioned that the flavor was unexpected as he was so used to having a Mexican burrito or a kebab wrap so the flavor was different, not in a bad way but not different. He appreciated that the size was decent but not bursting at the seams as well. Duck Fried Rice - Both my boyfriend and I ordered this and personally it is the dish that I will happily go back over and over for. The fried rice had slivers of pickled vegetables, along with duck and duck skin, pepper and other spices which resulted in an explosion of flavor in addition to standard fried rice (egg, peas, carrots, green onions (maybe white onions as well?)). It had a slight kick to it and was very addictive to eat. Also the portion was big enough that it was large enough for me to split into two meals (or three, if one eats other items alongside, which is how I chose to eat it). I think this was my boyfriend's favorite too. 1/2 roast duck - I ordered this to share with my family. Yes, this was $20 which is more expensive than places on Convoy, specifically Sam Woo. (If others have other locations I'd love to hear where). This was a good comparison because I had ordered this to see how the duck was to compare with Sam Woo's roast duck. Sam Woo's roast duck is a total hit or miss. I ordered the duck from Sam Woo later that week and it was just very sad in comparison to the 1/2 roast duck at Crazy Duck. Even with the price different, the quality, size and meat at Crazy Duck was better than at Sam Woo. I forget how Ranch 99's roast duck is, so the next step would be to compare there. In any case, the pieces were nice and juicy. Lots to chew on, not too tough and not too many bones. And the non duck choice of: Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings (which they have sadly, eliminated from their menu as I no longer see it but makes me very sad because it WAS SO DELICIOUS) - perfectly spicy and crispy, very flavorful, was one of my favorite salt and pepper chicken wings I had ever had. Please bring it back at some point! It seems a couple people mention it was very hit or miss for them, but when they are a hit, they are a HIT. And I love chicken wings and tried a lot of places. I felt like this had a great balance of crispiness, flavor and juicy meats. Highly recommend if they bring this back (at least to order online) Though we took this for takeout, the food kept pretty well even after we opened it up to eat about 20 minutes later. Inside, the place looked like a fast food place, albeit clean. Workers were friendly. We had done an online order and everything was there for us when we got there. If you decide to eat there, you get hot and sour soup. They say there is outdoor seating, but it looks like just normal outdoor seats that go with the plaza, but are sort of outside of the joint. If I'm looking to for a fast place to grab some food or a quick casual takeout place, Crazy Duck is going to be at the top of my list :) Totally recommend. Please go and give them your business. I can't wait to try out some of their other items when I feel like eating out again!

Yelp
I love Cantonese style roast duck and was excited to see a place in Poway specializing in duck.  As you walk in you are greeted by freshly roasted ducks hanging in the window.  I remember eating dinner in San Francisco's Chinatown and a tourist family scurried off in terror at the grotesque sight of ducks hanging in the window.  I ordered half a duck for $19.99.  They sell alot of duck here so the duck here is very fresh.  I was impressed by how tender and juicy this duck was.  Some parts had very crispy skin and others not that crisp.  Good amount of 5-spice powder flavor.  Very good tasting duck.  Noble Chef still is my favorite spot in town to get duck as their duck has flavor bursting out of every pore. 2nd visit I tried the fried chicken wings.  I notice there are pepper flakes and garlic sprinkled on top.  Leaving them on makes the wings spicy.  I scraped most of it off.  Wings are small but you get a bunch so this was a decent size lunch.  I liked how the batter was crunchy but the chicken remained moist.  Flavor was much like salt and pepper wings from Golden Chopsticks.  Very tasty. The free soup of the day was tomato beef.  Odd mix of textures as the veggies were extremely tender while the beef was a bit tough.  Flavor was very mild.  Some of the veggies may have been cooked too long and the beef didn't taste marinated. Crazy Duck is nicely decorated and everything is clean and shiny.  Staff was nice.  I enjoyed my meals here but I don't think I will be buying duck here as it's $40 for a duck while the Convoy St. places charge in the twenties for a duck.

Yelp
My parents found this little gem on their last visit to San Diego to see us. Overall good food but I'm going to vent on behalf of my Mom who worked 25 years in customer service for a large corporation... Word to the wise, check Yelp for days and hours. We went for dinner one Wednesday night and didn't check. They were closed for a private event. Our bad. Then we went back the next day since my parents hyped it up. My parents beat us there at 7pm and they didn't want to accommodate our party of 7 (great grand parents, grandparents, parents and 1 child) and told her to come back in 10 minutes. They finally let my parents turn 2 of the middle tables sideways so it was set up just as looked the night before when they had that private party. I get fire safety, not sure if that was a reason but it was never explained why we couldn't combine 2 tables and there was been more aisle room this way anyway. We got there about 5-10 minutes later and my Mom was upset that they were already telling her they were about to close at 8pm. They reminded us a few times and I felt they were fine, however my Mom was already a little ticked off that they kept telling us. Ok now for the food part. Very good! The duck does not disappoint. I kept telling my Mom order for us since time-wise we wanted to be out before they closed since it was very important for them to remind us 3 times or so, and it was a school night so we had to get our kiddo to bed anyway. Our group ordered the duck noodle soup, very good, not your typical Chinese soup. Plenty of duck that they did a great job keeping the skin crispy. The soup reminded me of a tongkatsu ramen type of broth. Very tasty and unexpected. We also ordered the xiao long bao (took a while) so by the time we got it it was too hot to eat and they stuck to the paper and we lost the soup essentially. It was good but the experience could have been better. The roasted duck fried rice was also tasty. Also good tip they have hot and sour soup for dine in customers. We'll be back and see how service is. Food is on point.
