Crazy Gringo Mexican Express

I’m visiting the area and was sent here by family for food. The first thing I noticed was how clean everything was. Both outside and inside. Like spotless on the bar. The women working were so nice and helpful. The wet burrito was so good! So were the chips, queso and salsa. The portions were huge! Why in my years visiting the area have I not been here?! I’ll be back for sure.

My food was delicious and fresh! They were so accommodating to my dietary restrictions. Thank you sooo much!

Ordered from DoorDash so I can’t speak on the atmosphere here or the service, but I will say my order was correct. However, I don’t think I’ll be ordering from here again. I ordered the tortilla soup and an order of chips and salsa. The soup tasted like tomato soup & the salsa tasted like marinara sauce, it was very odd…I guess that’s where the “gringo” comes in? The food wasn’t BAD, but there are many other, better places to get TexMex or authentic Mexican food around here.

I was a huge fan of the loaded fries, Nachos and Wet Burrito. This place is a great quick stop for some delicious Mexican food. Small indoor are for seating and in the summer they have patio seating. I haven't had a bad meal yet. Make this stop next time you're in town.

I should've read the reviews first I got the wet burrito my daughter got hard fiesta tacos. Very overpriced for mediocre food at best! We will not return it was just about $25 for generic food, food was bland, rice tasted as if it was out of a box nothing about it was pleasing or satisfying we threw it away and I was looking forward to this place opening ill stick to our regular place. O well.... in a response to the the owner the amount we paid had nothing to do on the taste of the food if it was $5 it would've still been trash idc if you've been in business for 35 years or 35 minutes it was horrible overpriced food. Still nasty

Love this place, however there is zero consistency in the Pequeno Nacho and the Tommy Nacho. From the chip quality to how it’s over cooked made and what it’s served in. One day it’s a pizza box the next a foil box with Saran Wrap on top. Also the menu doesn’t match the in restaurant menu.

This place is terrible. I asked did the dinners come with chips and salsa, they answered “ No” I said ok.. can we have sour cream also “there’s a 75 cent charge “!!! I said ok. Can you please make sure I get it and mild salsa for these dinners. You only get one!!! I said “ok” and in my mind , I’ll never come back here ! I asked more than once and the salsa was still not provided for one of the dinners!! There are many other Mexican restaurants in the area that provide basic dinner amenities for their patrons at great prices. I would recommend not going to this place . I see why they have such low ratings!

Seasoning was not there. Chorizo-chicken tacos was bland the best was the quesadilla the flavor was there with nice crust. The Mexican pizza had great crust and a lot of beans with beautiful cilantro, tomatoes, onions and olives. I just wish they used the quesadilla chicken for the pizza. Over all price/food I say it's a 2.

Finally was able to come by and try out Crazy Gringos newest location a couple weeks after they've opened. I've tried their Clinton Twp. location in the past and wasn't really impressed, but figured this "Express" version was set up a little different I might as well try it. They have a cute little patio in the back near the parking that I was pleasantly surprised to see! It's nice that more and more SCS restaurants are starting to offer this feature! The inside is pretty nice and well decorated. Everything was extremely clean and all employees seemed to be taking the COVID precautions seriously (hand sanitizer, masks, distancing, etc) so that was a huge plus. Now, on to my food! I ordered their Chori Pollo dish as it's not something you see commonly on menus but it's somethin I love to get! The bowl was a decent size but didn't seem like a lot of food for the price. I was wrong on that because I was overstuffed after eating it. Everything was really delicious. Their chorizo had a great kick of spice and wasn't greasy as most places serve it. The chicken had a good seasoning and was grilled and cubed up to perfection. The rice in the dish was really orange so I was expecting some heavy flavours but it just tasted kind of bland, no problem though as everything else had enough flavour to compensate. I think next time I would ask for a little extra queso as I didn't think there was enough on it. My only complaint I have is I asked what came ON the dish. I was told "Chorizo, grilled chicken, rice, and queso. Then on the side you will get lettuce, pico de gallo, and guacamole.". So I thought, cool, I'll get my little bowl and the sides will be in a separate container (like how fajitas are offered), but I was wrong. About 1/3 of the bowl had the mix of guac and pico and was served on top rather than "on the side". I normally wouldn't complain but I have an aversion to cilantro (tastes like soap to me) and it kind of ruined a third of my meal. The rest was absolutely delicious, but now I know for next time how to order it the way I'd like it!

#Canceled! What's less than one star???? Well that's my rating! If you like velveta and taco seasoning packets at a HUGE MARK UP you should definitely eat this. Otherwise just take your chances with Taco Bell! The owner is Tommy does not know what Mexican is but then again he is a Gringo! So don't waste your time money or taste buds!!! And when you do express how you felt about your food this is what you can expect

Sooo I was SERIOUSLY CRAVING SOME AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD... well at least a step up from taco bell. And they have these burrito bowls. You pick your own meat, rice, add ins. My only complaint is that their very cheap with the sauce and salsa... kinda dry. I called it in, my better half picked it up. Ready in 10 min. Not bad.

I can't order from here ever. They give you a corn taco with 1 tortilla and it is wet so everything just falls out. I have tried this location 3 times and I have no faith in spending one more cent.

I wasn't expecting authentic Mexican food just based on the name. It was better than Taco Bell, but the food could have used more spice and seasoning. I had a beef wet burrito. When I think of a wet burrito it's smothered in brown sauce and melted shredded cheese. This was a little cheese sauce and a little brown sauce, more like a damp burrito than a wet burrito. The guacamole was the highlight of the meal and tasted fresh and flavorful. Also, service was good. I'd give it another try for a regular burrito or taco and guacamole.

This place is pretty good. I get the California fries every time and I love them. It's a lot of food but it's great.

2 stars only because the tortilla soup is so good. First issue is the queso. The flavor is great but you only get a little side cup for $10, so extremely overpriced. Fajita bowl was ok. The chorizo had solid flavor along with the Mexican rice, but everything else was so so. The carnitas taco had very little flavor. The grilled chicken taco was a little better. The carne asada was cooked well but had no flavor. The worst was the shredded chicken "fiesta" style taco. $2 extra so almost a $6 taco and it was like they took it out of the fridge to serve. Just stick to the soup.

My first time here! Food was great! The service was professional! Very pleased with how clean the building was and the lady serving was helpful and nice

I always get the Mexican pizza. Chicken or beef...both are so good. And I usually share it with my son. Sometimes I want it all to myself

Probably the best Mexican food I've had in the area so far, but that isn't a very high bar. Not great, but pretty good. The quesadilla was not anything to write home about. Mostly some big chunks of chicken and barely enough cheese to hold it together. Pretty basic and boring. I also got the burrito bowl, intending to get the burrito itself. So that was a little disappointing, but the flavors were okay. The nachos rescued this review, honestly. Pretty delicious. I got the pequeno nacho with beef, and it was super solid. Plentiful, delicious, great flavors. Lots to share.

customer service is fantastic beyond premium-tier!!! plus the food is phenomenal my new go to for mexican cuisine.

The food is great. Love the birria tacos. The owner great and provides great service , service from staff is satisfactory. The place is clean all the need now is. Liquor license. Lol

Welcome to the neighborhood. An outstanding addition. Beautifully decorated inside and looking forward to enjoying the patio in warmer weather. The carne asada tacos are delicious along with their burritos. The nachos are also excellent. Great balance of ingredients. Word of caution: the habanero sauce is very good but hot. Staff does a great job. Very friendly and they go out of their way to make sure you're satisfied. Well done!

Was looking forward to trying this place out for the first time. I didn't know what to expect. I was hoping for better quality than Taco Bell but was let down. Food was very bland the rice and beans had no flavor. I got the wet burrito. Their sign said 14.99 but was charged 15.99. They charged 3.00 for a side of Guac and 3.00 for a tiny container of hot sauce. The containers of food were thrown together in super sloppy mess ( see pic)when I got home my carry out bag had a ton of leakage.I did not get any lettuce or tomato on the side like I asked for. Overall pretty disappointed. Won't be back.

Stopped here for lunch and got an order or the carne asada fries and steer tacos. The food came out quick and everything tasted great! The staff was also very friendly. Will definitely be back!

Service in scs,mi is poor, Rude staff and often getting orders wrong.The quality of the food is very different than the restaurants...very disappointed as I had heard good things about the restaurant.

Avoid At all Cost. "Food "was not what I ordered , and what I received was disgusting. I received a very poor management response when we called about the error. And I'm Out 20$ for chips and a awful And weird burrito I didn't order, ( tip was given as well). We Had called ahead and ordered (in an attempt to avoid issues ) as well. Not that it mattered, as no one Was in there. I Ordered carne asada burrito. what I was given was a *wet burrito with *shredded Pork ?/?Chicken, which was mixed with , *mixed with **ground beef . Who Even orders That? I live in Grosse Pointe Park -20 min away. When received , immediately called. Was told that we had to drive back to store and have them Examine the food before they would consider refund. We had paid on credit card and they could easily credited us. Avoid this place at all Costs. The Mexican you could Make at home IWill be way better, and you will get what you ordered. You will Also save $, and not get stonewalled and talked over by management.

We ordered carry out and we are quite happy with our order. Upon picking the order up, we were greeted by a friendly staff. The order was packed in sturdy carry out containers. The food tasted great. Fresh with plenty of toppings and sauces.

We order take out from this location at least 2 to 3 times a week. The portions are perfect and the food always taste good. Sometimes they are busy when picking up and it gets a bit chaotic. Adding a kiosk or credit card only payment POS would probably help out for this location during those times. The staff is always friendly and kind to us regardless of how busy they are. We have never had an issue with any of our orders thus far.

It's pretty good. My family likes it but I think it's so so. I feel like the prices are a little steep for what it is. I don't know if it was a one off but I ordered a side of the retried beans the last time we ordered and they were AWFUL. My husband and son like to get the Quatro Nachos to share.

Went on a recent Tuesday for taco Tuesday. Ordered 12 street tacos with grilled chicken, and when I got home to eat, I noticed the chicken was NOT the usual grilled chicken they usually serve. Instead, the "chicken" parts were greasy pieces of some meat that was clearly not chicken. Some of these pieces were curly and stringy, and some were large and flat. I am not making this up either - it was worse than some of the chicken you see in bad Thai food restaurants. This place is off my list for good now.

It's not bad, but overpriced. Kids quesadilla was half a tortilla and almost $10! Worth maybe $2. The fries are good, but not cheap. Much rather would go to El Charro down the road.

the worst. stale taco shells, rice with no taste (didnt know that was possible). expensive and plastic ware if you eat there. dont do it. way over priced and just lousy. go to elcharrow cheaper and way better.

I was disappointed that it wasn't nearly as good as the Clinton twp. location. If you want to charge $10.00 or so for a wet burrito, put more than a half of ounce of meat in it ! It's all rice and beans with very little meat and cheese. It doesn't save you money to scrimp on the meat if lose the opportunity for repeat costumers $4.29 Taco Bell burrito has way more meat

My first time there was last night, the food was good and fresh. The staff were very profesional and friendly. Overall I would go back.

Don't know how anyone could ever screw up nachos this bad but this is the second time. I don't know if it's the "gringo" part of the name that dumps a can of refried beans onto a nestled heap of chips and calls it macaroni or if it's the "crazy" that neglects to add cheese to make it palatable. To add insult to the injured soggy heap of chips is that the chicken is in these chunks so large as to order a plate and cutlery to themselves. How do you eat this?! This is garbage, plain and simple.

Very good Mexican food! Some of the best I have ever had. Everything was delicious. I had beef tacos and my friend had a wet burrito. I tried a piece of his burrito and it was excellent. I will be back here again for sure.

Went for lunch today. Best burrito I've had in a long time. Super friendly staff and met the owner who was very friendly as well. I'll be a regular going forward!

The food here is exactly as described, white washed Mexican food. I got the birria tacos and my mom got the vegan tacos,which don't fall u see the 2$ taco Tuesday btw. My birria tacos didn't come with cheese, the meat was dry and unseasoned. I added salt to it just salt and it made the consommé and the tacos way better but still dry meat when I still soaked them in the consommé. My mom didn't even finish the 2/1 taco she had. Unseasoned and white washed do not go here if u love Mexican food.

Awful. Possibly the worst Mexican food I have EVER had. I ordered fajita bowl and my BF had 2 steak tacos. Along with guacamole n Chips my bill was 35 bucks!! Chicken had no taste, steak was the same. Absolutely horrible. Staff was rude and not knowledgeable at all. Will never return.

So I came in ordered a burrito and two tacos. When I also asked for two sour creams and a hot sauce they never included it in my order which I payed for. Manager was terrible and they overcharged for food and sides I never got. Manager overall needs to reevaluate her job if she is this rude to customers paying for high priced meals.

The food was just not good, and there was plenty of it (and it cost a lot, too). The beef burrito was very bland, except for this cloying sweet taste... was it the tortilla or the cheese sauce? The tortilla was gummy, and my sister said the same about her chicken burrito. The menu is confusing, and the manager was standing at the register counting a big stack of money. And, since this review was written in the pandemic, I have to point out that none (and I mean NOT ONE) of the staff was wearing a mask ( except for one young lady who had it around her neck). I won't go back to this place again, even after mask requirements are lifted. Bad food--I have a feeling they're laughing at me, "Another crazy gringo who thought we served Mexican food!"
