Best Barbecue in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Located next door to a Citgo gas station, Crazy Ron’s serves wood-smoked ribs, chopped pork, chicken, and even a specialty smoked sausage plate. There’s also the option to order just a vegetable plate here. Order a Lunatic sandwich — nearly a pound of chopped pork topped with coleslaw and pickles, with a choice of sides, including greens and baked beans." - Candy Hom

Best Restaurants in Stone Mountain, Georgia | Eater Atlanta

"This unassuming spot, which is attached to a gas station, is home to some spectacular barbecue. Drive by the place and you’ll struggle not to pull over thanks to the wood smoker wafting the scent of cooking ribs, pork butt, and chicken. Along with those venerable mains, find enticing sides like baked macaroni and cheese and greens as well as backyard barbecue fixtures like coleslaw and baked beans." - Olivia Harrison

Took a wrong turn. Happened upon this place because we were hangery and turned it into a "Bob Ross" happy accident! The Lunatic sandwich was great! Love the Chopped pork, I wish I would have asked for extra sauce on my pork. It was so good! The baked beans and collards were very good as well! I'm pleasantly satisfied and will return if I'm in the area! It is take out only!

My first time here. And mentioned this to the lady at the register so I could get any recommendations of their food. She did not give any recommendations so I just looked at the menu and ordered the smoked wings. Order was not correct when the lady handed me the food. We went over the order several times before it was placed and also because I felt she was not listening. Then received 2 slices of bread when I specifically said cornbread. I had to show the lady that I didn't want the 2 slices of bread she put in my plate and could I get the cornbread I requested. She tells the cook that the "customer didn't want the bread I put in her plate and could you give her cornbread" as if It was an issue to replace what I originally ordered. The smoked wings were burnt and tasted like it was reheated. I tried to eat it but the wings were also very hard. I asked could the fries be substituted for a Veggie. She told me no. So I was charged for two sides, instead of one. I felt since I didn't want the fries, an accommodation should've been made for at least one of the sides. I was hungry so I prayed the food would be good. Food was OK and that's being generous because I picked around the wings. I literally threw away the wings. Collards didn't have no "turkey" in it and was salty. Green beans were cold. Only thing hot was the corn bread. I'm sure they're BBQ is good due to it being a BBQ place but for me and considering my food being burnt and the way it was prepared, I don't think I'll be back.

Food (chopped beef sandwich) was not ok but nothing to write home about. The Cole slaw was awful and the Mac n cheese was weird. Not sure what either of them were missing but they weren’t our first choice for sides anyway. Soon as we walked in the door the cashier greeted us and said the fryer was already off for the day and certain specials were already over. So anything that we wanted which required frying, was automatically out. Their food isn’t cheap, and they give a very small portion of the sides. The place isn’t exactly “clean” and there is a bit of clutter/unused equipment around. There is no public restroom, which is a complete bummer especially considering we have a toddler. You never know when they have to go to the bathroom. There are no tables to eat inside and I guess that is why they are not required to have a bathroom available to the public. The service was mediocre. The lady had dark sunglasses on at the front counter while taking our order. We did go late in the day, so maybe they were just over it for the day and it didn’t take too long for the food to be ready. Our 2yr old really enjoyed the chopped beef. I doubt we will be back, they have very hard hours of operation to keep up with and the food is a little pricey for the amount that they give. Plus, it’s not overly delicious or anything. Not a huge menu selection but they did give us a free bag of chips.

I’ve eaten here before about a year ago and the quality of food has really gone down. The Mac n cheese had a weird texture and no flavor and the brisket tasted terrible! Nothing like how I remembered it. The service from the cashier was good when I called over the phone to place my order but when I got there she was trying to over charge me even though she already gave me my total over the phone. I definitely won’t be back.

Google
Stopped in to grab some lunch before going to Stone Mountain. I would definitely come back. The portions themselves were a little small, but for a lunch they were fine. We ordered the chopped pork sandwich, which was tender and juicy. Ordered the ribs, which were also tender and juicy. The collard greens were good, but the baked beans were off the hook....so good.

Google
Food was SOOO GOOD! KARLA & KYLA took customer service to the next level & the sweetest potato pie made by 16 year old Kyla was a 10! Ribs were best I've ever had!

Google
Customer service is TOP NOTCH!! This Beautiful Black Business is a place to come enjoy savory homemade BBQ!! I'm telling you, don't drive by without stopping by this spot! I'm very picky about my Mac n cheese and they passed the test! Blessings to whoever is reading this🙏🏿

Google
Food is nothing like it used to be. The Mac n cheese was soggy, the coleslaw was really dry and the lemon cakes is harder than a rock. Only thing decent was the ribs. Haven’t been to the restaurant in about 8 months but the food has really changed I won’t be getting any sides anymore just the ribs.

Yelp
Went to this place today and got the Lunatic(not on the menu) which has pickles, slaw, and sauce and also got the rib tip plate and Brunswick stew. The food was amazing. I would highly recommend this place and would go again.

Yelp
They have live roaches. When I pointed it out to the lady at the counter, she said they sprayed. Eat here at your own risk.

Yelp
Yes, I have to admit their food is delicious. (and that's the only reason I gave 2 stars) Service however, SUCKS! I called these people on February 27, 28, and March 1, 2025 to place a large order for full trays of food for an impromptu party for my daughter's 40th birthday on March 3rd. I was told that Ron would get back with me. He never did. Someone named Carla actually called me back on March 31, left a cheerful message asking me if I still needed my order. I literally had to cancel this gathering so NO!!!!!! 30 days later, I don't still need it and I will never call again!

Yelp
I tried this pace and its not that great (Disclaimer, I'm from near the center of the BBQ center of the Universe, Lockhart, TX). No seating inside. One little table outside. Brisket was not that moist, but eatable. Compared to Fox Bros, what this place serves can't be considered bbq.

Yelp
Smells great when we drive by, but my wife and I have tried to eat here 3 times now when going to Stone Mountain park and the restaurant has been closed during hours they claim they're open! There is not a ton of other food close by, so it is fairly frustrating that it keeps happening!

Yelp
I just so happened to stumble upon this place because the other place I wanted to go to was closed and now that I've had crazy Ron's I'm glad they were closed. Upon walking in I was greeted instantly the friendliness of the cashier, the decorations on the walls, and the overall feel of the place gives you a feeling of warmth and welcome. Mix that with the smell that's coming from the kitchen and you just know they don't play about their food lol. One thing I did notice was the cashier had memorize my name even after waiting about 15 minutes from my food and dealing with other customers. She always used my name which I thought was really nice. Now onto the food, I was not playing around as I have not ate anything all day and the night prior I had went out so you already know what time it was. Luckily it was before 2 PM so I got the chopped pork sandwich combo for the side I got potato salad. I also got a side of fried okra and a rib plate with mac & cheese and collards. When I got home I ate the sandwich and I have to tell you that is one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I've ever had. Sometimes I can be iffy with meat and textures there was no fat or skin in my sandwich whatsoever, I loved it! I also had the potato salad which TBH I did worry about a little because iykyk but honestly it was bomb I didn't even taste any big chunks of egg white (which I'm not a fan of) it was just delicious. Because I'm greedy I did take a bite of my ribs and they were very delicious and tender they had the perfect amount of sauce so I really didn't need the extra that I asked for. The collards were fresh and good as well as the macaroni and cheese which could've used a pinch more seasoning but all in all everything was absolutely delicious I can't wait to go back and get that sandwich!

Yelp
Worst rib tips ever. Tuff, and tomato sauce for bbq sauce. The collards and mac was ok.

Yelp
I've been going to Crazy Ron's barbecue for over 20 years. It is always great to see the family own business and the food is always great.

Yelp
The food at Crazy Ron's is extraordinary. The best ribs in town! Excellent for grabbing dinner or catering a party.

Yelp
It's during the pandemic, just one day after GA is reopened for business. I've been cooking my own food for the past few months so I'm ready for some good food aside my own cooking. I've been craving some goood ole BBQ and seafood. I stumbled on this location while running an errand. I thought, the stars are aligning because I stumbled on this location while running an errand. Most BBQ joints within small town is a hit or miss, yet this gem located in Stone Mountain is a hit! My cravings have been fixed. I ordered the rib plate with Mac-n-cheese and baked beans. Double starch, I know - it's what the young lady It was a hit.

Yelp
Finally visited after passing by everyday for 3 years! Main takeaways: -Inside and outside are nothing special. The restaurant is attached to a gas station and had some outdoor seating. It is very close to the road, so I wouldn't plan on a quiet meal. -Food was better than most. My order was completely wrong, but I enjoyed it. I ordered chicken but ended up getting ribs drenched in sauce. -The people were terrific. I met Ron after seeing a Washington Redskins flag and telling an employee that I was from Virginia. We chatted for a little bit and it felt like home.

Yanata B.

Yelp
I took my mom here and she said it was the best BBQ she's ever had. We are from Mississippi so that says a lot. You can't eat inside but the service is good and you have to create your own ambiance . I've been eating here for years and I always stop when I'm in the area. You absolutely have to try it. It's the best BBQ in Georgia and I put my stamp on that.

Yelp
I was driving past here on my way to a clients. The smell of barbecue in the air made me stop! I am so glad that I did! The pork sandwich was incredible, the baked beans were phenomenal in the macaroni and cheese were to die for! I strongly recommend you check this place out!

Yelp
Great BBQ sandwich and try the loaded Fries! The ribs were so tender they fell off the bone. Friendly and great vibe. Would eat her again!

Shawanna W.

Yelp
The food was great! The chicken was smoked perfectly & the portion size matched the pricing. Will order again next time I'm in the area!

Yelp
This may be the WORST BBQ I have ever had in my life. They may say they smoked this meat, but I'm getting boiled in a crockpot all day long. Even the BBQ sauce is bland. Brunswick stew.. .sour. Mac and cheese... cheeseless. BBQ beans.. pork n beans all day long.. They didn't even try to dress them up. I can forgive you for bad sides.... but NO SMOKE IN THE BBQ. You can't tell me this is not cooked in a pot of water. Maybe they use that short cook of boiling the meat and finishing it on the grill REGARDLESS it's FLAVORLESS and stringy. No. No. No. No. No. No. there is No reason to ever come here. NONE. Do people really think food should taste like this? It's horrible. No. 83 health score. Flies everywhere. And bad food. Go elsewhere

Yelp
I stopped by Ron's Crazy Bbq to get a bbq pork sandwich on 8/20/22. After asking a few question about the sandwich. I ordered a jumbo bbq sandwich, because the young lady told me the portion size had changed. When I pulled my sandwich out the bag, I was thinking this sandwich looks like it doesn't have any meat on it. I opened the sandwich up and true enough it was a small amount of meat. The portion size was a rip off after paying $10 for the jumbo sandwich. I did call and express my concerns, but the customer service was more reactive instead of being proactive. Also, the pictures on the menu and website showing the portion size is very misleading. In addition, the pork sandwich was the only meal, I had for the day. A few hours later, I experienced IBS-Diarrhea, which is food poisoning. Oh well no more Crazy Ron's Bbq for me.

Yelp
I'm convinced that the best BBQ is always found in the middle of a small town and I haven't been proven wrong yet! I stopped by Crazy Ron's around 11:00 AM on Saturday and there were already people there. As soon as I stepped out of my car, I could immediately smell the BBQ goodness - yum! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which my boyfriend got the rib plate. The meat was.so.freaking.tender!!!!!! The ribs literally fell off the bone and the BBQ sauce was A+++++++ (not too spicy, but not too sweet either - had the perfect balance). Unfortunately, the sandwich bun wasn't firm enough to hold the filling. I ended up just eating the filling since the bread got too soggy for my liking. Tips: definitely come early. They're only open until they run out of food - which apparently happens pretty quickly on the weekends. However, it looks like they are opening a restaurant next to where they are currently located. Parking is available next door or at the gravel lot. If there's no parking, its located pretty close to downtown, so you could park at the lots there and walk over. Overall, probably the best BBQ I had so far in ATL. I wouldn't get the sandwich again because of the bun, but I would definitely come back if I'm back in town to try the other things on the menu.

Yelp
Crazy Rons, how can I dislike a place with a catchy name like that? Tucked away right next to a gas station with a smell of firewood filling the air, it had all the ingredients to be a highlight of BBQ spots, yet it wasn't. Part I: A bit trashy, but bearable As much as I love roadside BBQ, this spot was just a disaster. There is a gravel parking area right next to it, so when wind blows, the dust is all over the air, including: the grill area itself, the sides on your table and on the sandwich you are holding. It's just annoying having to cover up your food when you are trying to enjoy it. Would you like some road dust on those ribs? Part II: The Luring Smell I'll give Ron's this, it looks legit. There is wood and a grill with deliciously smelling wood smoke coming out of it. There is way too much garbage laying around everywhere however, so that's never pleasant to eat around, even if it is a roadside joint. Roadside, does not mean it has to be filthy. Part III: The Breaking Point In all honesty, I can deal with all of the above. If the food was spectacular, it would have overshadowed it. Having tried the chicken and the ribs here, I'll conclude that the quality of meat used here is not very good at all. The pork itself was flavorless! It tasted like the pork you'd buy cheap at bulk at a local wholesale club and it was not good whatsoever. The only flavor was coming from the sauce, which was ok. Cole Slaw was, well, it was cole slaw, nothing notable. Collard greens preparation also left much to be desired, they lacked the flavor and juiciness that collards should have. Talk about disappointments, Crazy Ron's was the most notable one of the weekend!

Yelp
A small place selling decent BBQ out of a window. No inside seating. A few umbrella tables. Menu has all the stuff you expect and want. Although I was tempted by Jamarcus' review to get the rib tips, I decided to go old school with ribs. Sides of cole slaw and collards. Ribs: well prepared, almost fall-off-the-bone, medium size, drowned in sweet but tasty sauce. I like them, although next time I might ask for dry with a tub of sauce, if that's an option. Cole slaw: nice, not anything to rave about Collards: similarly nice, maybe need some salt or hot sauce. Second visit: Rib tips: even more drowned in sauce. Still tasty but I think I prefer on the bone. Potato salad: solid choice Beans: OK but they don't need the ground beef Service both times was quick. Walk up to the window, wait for it to open, place your order, wait 5-10 minutes. Prices are in line with other BBQ outlets. Overall: A-OK. Very tasty food. Probably need to cut back on the sauce, and the sides aren't the best.

Yelp
Highly recommend this place. Food was good and the portions were good. I had so much BBQ on my sandwich I had to get another bun to make another sandwich.
google avatar

Sequoyah G.

Yelp
Great food and very consistent. I think the portions can be a little larger and longer summer hours (they close at 6). I love this spot!

Alyssa W.

Yelp
The rib tips are amazing and so are the sides. Everyone there is kind. Food is great, it's a nice place to go after a hike.
google avatar

Yelp
One the very best pulled pork sandwiches I have ever had. The jumbo sandwich is huge with the pork soaked a sauce that has a slight tangy taste that some zest to to the tender pork. If you are ever around Stone Mountain Village be sure stop by and get yourself a sandwich, you will be glad you did.

Yelp
Delicious! We ate at another "highly recommended (yelp)" BBQ place in the area a few days before and it was such a disappointment. Of the 6 people in our party not one person liked it. SOOOOO, we decided to give Crazy Ron's a try and happily report that we ALL LOVED CRAZY RAY'S! That's the BBQ I I know and love. Fast, friendly service. Delicious food. And I absolutely loved dining on picnic tables outside. Georgia BBQ redemption! Don't let the appearance or location turn you away!

Yelp
Crazy Ron's BBQ hits all the right spots! The food is so delicious and filling. Definitely can tell everything is made fresh and the staff is so friendly, it's really a no brainer to return to this hidden gem

Larryssa H.

Yelp
The food was very good and the service was great. This is a family business and the young lady at the counter was really sweet. I'll go back.

Yelp
Stopped into this spot when in town for a wedding which only was serving vegetarian food for the weekend. Our friends were craving some authentic bbq and this place was incredible. Spicy and sweet sauce with just enough kick, tender ribs and chicken... we were so impressed. Highly satisfied with the food and the service was great too!

Yelp
This place is a great stop after hiking Stone Mountain on a 90+ degree weather day. Ice cold water and a plate of delicious ribs made the trip so worth it! Recommend if you're in the area.

Yelp
I live on Stone Mountain years ago and I loved this bbq. It is Delicious the chicken and Ribs . And a very nice owner. And the ladies that take the orders are sweet also.
google avatar

Pamela L.

Yelp
Whew, it's HOT and there is no way I'm cooking. I was driving and I smelled something good coming from this little shack on the side of the road with a small line of folks waiting in the heat for their orders. I'm thinking they have to have some good food over there I ordered the rib tip plate with Mac n cheese and potatoe salad. The lemon pound cake was really good.
google avatar

Jamarcus T.

Yelp
You so Crazy, Ron! Well, not really, unless dealing out good bbq is crazy. I went for a lunch run and got a few plates, and I liked my lunch! I got their Rib tip plate ($11.49), which came with your choice of two sides. I got their potato salad and mac and cheese. The combo also came with a dinner roll. The Rib tips are nicely sized with a good amount of meat on each one (there's about 10 tips for lunch), and the meat is nice and tender with good flavor. Definitely a fan of these. The Potato salad tasted home made, really good and creamy, and I liked the potato salad as much as the tips. Sadly, the mac and cheese wasn't really good at all to me. More a mac and cheese casserole, when you got the top layer of cheese off, well, there wasn't anymore cheese, and there just seemed to be more grease than flavor. I'd pass on this side. And FYI, Brunswick stew is not a side Having everything in one sitting (minus the roll), will have you more stuffed than you can believe, so with or without a huge appetite, Crazy Ron's will give your stomach what it needs. Located just at the corner of ponce and James B Rivers Drive, Crazy Ron's is just a smoke house...i.e. no you can't go inside to sit and eat, but they do have a couple of picnic benches if you want to sit and eat. Keep in mind, while you can stop in to get individual plates, but if you want to get a family order or a slab of ribs, you can't just show up. You have to call ahead. If you want some good bbq, you gotta check Ron's out
google avatar

Sandra F.

Yelp
This place is the best little gem. I found them tucked away in this little shack. Just by chance. Smoke bellowing from this little place no bigger than a small lawn mower shed. Just 2 seats in the front. Asked for the 2 meat combo and was told it would last me all night. The lady at the counter was right. Very friendly and omg the ribs were wonderful. The need is chopped witch I prefer whole brisket, but the pork ribs were the best I have ever had. They are pull apart with your fingers melt in your mouth like butter good. They open at 11 and let me tell you I keep going back but be warned they will sell out. Recommend the swans and potato salad. You can't miss on this little place. You will be coming back again and again.

Yelp
I had been in Atlanta for 3 weeks working. The only desire I had, being from California, was getting some good bbq, AAANNNDD boy is that what we got!! Nothing short of amazing tasting food. Being a "Fat boy" both at heart and physically, I thought I'd try "The Lunatic" (3/4 LB pulled pork sandwich slapped in amazing sauce and covered with pickles and cole slaw). I got mac and cheese and baked beans for the sides, and was absolutely thrilled. The mac and cheese is essentially a cheesy mac casserole that was delightful and the baked beans were to die for. The only issue I had with this place is trying to figure out why it isn't 5 stars, and I've still yet to come to the conclusion. Fantastic place and Ron was well, damn good personable man, very thankful for our business. I'll definitely be back!!!

Yelp
Finally! A good BBQ spot! I have KC roots in my veins so BBQ is a close to my heart. For some odd reason in all my years here, I never tried Crazy Ron's. I've passed by it for years dating back to when he was in the small train car but oddly never stopped by to try it. This was my first time and I was happy to see that I was able to get it delivered via UberEats. First I was impressed the fact that all of the food was still warm the time it got to my house considering I'm about 15 minutes away. I got the two meats combo and chose ribs and chopped pork which were both excellent! The 3 ribs were perfectly cooked and the chopped pork was good and saucy. It also came with 4 slices of bread which was even better. The Mac and cheese was your typical "dry" Mac and cheese you would have with BBQ and the beans were awesome too. The pound cake was alright but who cares, this is a BBQ spot. My only concern was the prices. Luckily I was able to get $20 off of a $25+ order via UberEats but I was still ended up paying quite a lot of money. It made me wonder how many ribs would have came with the rib plate which came with two sides and costs $17. Nevertheless, I'm sure I will be back.

Yelp
The food was delicious, affordable and was ready on time. Everything was well seasoned. The chicken was nice and tender. Service was great.. I recommend this place and will return.

Yelp
I kept driving by this place and finally decided to stop this past Thursday. I tried their Ribs with the sauce on the side. Let me just say they were AH MA ZING. So amazing I went back the next day. They are a bit pricy but I think very well worth it. Will have to try the brisket next.
google avatar

Jalonda H.

Yelp
I can say I am a fan. It's a small place that looks like a train that sells BBQ. They have very little parking that I wish was paved. They have a couple picnic tables in front in case you decide to eat there. I don't think I have ever seen anyone eat there tho. The employees that I have encountered have been great! It's not the best BBQ but it's pretty good. I have had the sausage sandwich with bbq sauce and mustard, pulled pork and beef brisket sandwich, bbq chicken and ribs. The meats are way better than their sides in my opinion. I was actually disappointed when I tried their sides. I had the mac n cheese and collard greens. I guess I had high hopes comparing it to the taste of their main course.

Yelp
This place was great. We had just arrived to the area, staying for a quick vacation in Stone Mountain. Starving, we were looking for a place to grab a quick and tasty bite. After driving past once, we turned around and gave Crazy Rons a shot. With just the simple look of a roadside BBQ stand, who knew what we were in for. His smoker looks brand new, as well as his log splitter, generator and even the picnic tables! Ron himself greeted us at the window and convinced me that I could surely handle the famous "lunatic" pork sandwich - 3/4lb pork that has coleslaw and pickles on top. I couldn't back down from the challenge of course!! I have to say that the sandwich was absolutely fantastic and I definitely rose to the challenge to finish every bite! The icing on the cake was Ron'a chatty and welcoming demeanor, making us feel at home in his corner of the world. I would definitely recommend to anyone. Cheers!

Yelp
Very good food!! Mac n cheese is amazing! Quick service! And very friendly family owned business. Will definitely come again.

Yelp
It's funny but yet ironic that people notice this place on the way to climb Stone Mountain and grab something from Crazy Ron's on the way back. You have to love these type of places. The aroma from the wood burning catches your senses from afar on a nice spring day. Gets your stomach bubblin' for BBQ. That's WTF I'm talking about. I look at the outside and I'm already sold....WHY? I know from experience that the food is going to be bomb and I don't need a YELP review to confirm this. It is a small building right on E. Ponce, can be easily missed but stuck in local traffic because of a one lane road - easy to noticed! Chants: RIBS! RIBS! RIBS! RIBS! RIBS! RIBS! You are going to get a small town feeling with EXCELLENT CUSTOMER service. I had a sample of the BBQ burger and it was instant gratification YELPers! That smokey flavor is Tennessee like. Just typing this review got a dude craving for some already. I'm all for small businesses that cater to the people. It's from the heart! Good job Crazy Ron's Grade: B
google avatar

Joanna R.

Yelp
Worth the twenty five minute wait, yes lord. Every single one of the people waiting in line knows good BBQ I'm sure. Ufffff such tasty goodness dripping in sauce and that cole slaw was bomb. Best part of visiting Stone Mountain for me without a doubt. Lots of people waiting and ordering so seating is limited and clearly this isn't a real restaurant but just a stand in the middle of road. With food this good, ambience is not required!

Yelp
This take-out spot has been on my radar for a while, but it is a ways out of the city (like most BBQ places in the area) and so I hadn't had a chance to hit it up yet. Fortunately, I had to work nearby recently and made a point to eat here. Despite knowing the location, I still managed to almost drive past it. It is definitely a small shack (see pic) next to a convenient store. There's a little parking lot and a couple of picnic tables to eat at. All the meat seems to be cooked on a pull-behind smoker (see pic) that was hard at work when I pulled up. Both of the people working here were very nice and seemed eager to please. I couldn't locate what I was looking for on the menu (a combo plate) but I asked the lady about it and she said they had it. So I got a sweet tea and ribs & pulled pork combo plate that came with 2 sides (baked beans and mac & cheese for me). The price seemed pretty normal for BBQ. After a few minutes the food was ready. The styrofoam container was filled to the brim with food: 3 slices of white bread, a big pile of chopped pork, and probably 5 or 6 ribs. The sides were in separate little containers. I took it and ate at one of the picnic tables. First off, I'm really not a fan of serving the sauce on the meat and this is what Crazy Ron's does. I prefer sauce on the side and being able to taste the meat on its own and then being able to control sauce usage. I wish places would ask but I guess I should expect them not to so it's partly my fault I guess. Anyway, as you can guess, the pork was drenched so it was hard to really taste the meat but it had pretty good flavor and texture. The sauce was pretty tasty as well but not amazing. The bread was good for sopping and making open-faced sandwiches. Fortunately, the ribs avoided most of the sauce. I thought the ribs were very good. They were spare ribs, but they were not huge and fatty. They had a nice, smoky taste and had a great texture - pretty tender but still with some bite. They had a dry rub on them that had a lot of pepper and salt but the flavor also reminded me slightly of a simplified Fox Brothers rub. The ribs went well with the sauce too. Anyway, the ribs were definitely on point - not fantastic but very delicious. The baked beans were good. I didn't think they were anything particularly special as far as baked beans are concerned, but baked beans very rarely are anything extraordinary. The mac & cheese was good also, but I think I prefer m&c with a smoother, creamier texture. After throwing down on a lot of Q, I was full and content. Overall, I would say that the bbq was tasty and satisfying, but not mind-blowing. Although, if you consider that it came from a little hut on the side of the road, I'd say it's pretty impressive. You should definitely check this place out if you are even sort of near Stone Mountain. 3.5

Yelp
Three ribs, mac and cheese, potato salad $17. It was not bad but not great and certainly not worth $17

Yelp
On our way to Stone Mountain, we elected to get a bite before going into the park. We stumbled across this little joint and what luck. We traveled the area from Texas and as a world traveler after 20-years in the USN, I can tell you this is one awesome joint. The food was delicious. The customer service was delightful. Those were some friendly folks. The area was clean and tidy. But let's go back to that barbque sandwich the other reviewer mentioned. It was juicy, tender and finger licking good. My daughter loved the mac & cheese. And the price was excellent. Great job, Ron and team although I may never find myself in that neck of the woods again, I hope YELPERs find this review and take a detour out there. It is well worth it. Thank you and God bless your team!

Yelp
Some of the best bbq in Atlanta. Space is limited for seating at least from what I could see. Great service!

Yelp
I stopped by here a few Saturday's ago with my girlfriend for lunch. We were looking for a place after a morning at Stone Mountain park and I happened to find this place on Yelp. The "restaurant" itself looks like it was the caboose car from a train which is pretty cool and only housed the kitchen. Then beside the kitchen is a big smoker which was on the day that we were there which allowed us to smell some of the smoke. There are also a number of picnic tables around that you can enjoy your meals on if you choose to eat it there. For my entrée I decided to get the jumbo chopped pork sandwich and also told my girlfriend that I would help her to finish her chopped pork platter with sides of mac and cheese and greens. My chopped pork sandwich was large as promised and had a good amount of BBQ sauce on it. The pork was tender and I could taste the smokiness in it while the BBQ sauce tasted great as well. The mac and cheese and the greens tasted nicely as well and ultimately I was glad that we stopped here. The bottom line for me is that I would definitely head back here again in the future. Even though it did not look like a spot that I would normally frequent, I loved the location and thought that the food was pretty dang good as well.

Yelp
One thing that I've been craving for a long time is good Southern barbecue. The moment I got to Georgia, I started planning on my first barbecue expedition. Crazy Ron's is a terrific example of good road side barbecue. The restaurant is an unassuming hut behind the gas station. They offer many barbecue favorites. I was dismayed to not see pulled pork on the menu. There was masking tape covering some items, and let me tell you, this tape was quite good at masking. So, I assumed they ran out of pulled pork and went with the chicken breast plate. My friend got the chopped pork sandwich. Most menu items come with 1-2 sides. I went with mac n cheese and baked beans. I'm not sure what I thought chopped pork was, but I regret not trying that. Chicken Breast The chicken breast plate comes with a breast and a wing. The chicken was cooked perfectly, with a strong smoky flavor. The meat was moist and complemented well by barbecue sauce that was not overwhelming. This is top notch barbecue chicken. The one thing I disliked is the fact that they chopped up the chicken breast without deboning it. Like the new KFC ads, I actually had a moment where I realized I ate a bone. They should either debone it or not chop it up. Baked Beans These looked like terrible, like school cafeteria-caliber. Fortunately, they tasted a lot better than they looked. I think they could've easily given me more beans, and less broth, but any fan of baked beans should be able to enjoy Crazy Ron's Baked Beans. Mac n Cheese This was more of a disappointment. While there wasn't anything inherently wrong, the places that execute mac n cheese perfectly make me expect perfection from every place. Crazy Ron's didn't reach this standard. 4 stars - I will likely return to try the chopped pork and find out what the chopped beef is like. Crazy Ron's provided a great meal at reasonable prices. They could easily provide greater attention to detail to their sides. I'll have to try the Tipsy Pig next to figure out which is the local king.

Yelp
I usually dig little roadside hole-in-the-wall places. Sometimes you find a gem. Sometimes you find a petrified turd. This was the latter. The "homemade" mac-and-cheese was a greasy mess; the cheese had broken, and the pasta was a watery mess. The meat was, at least, edible. The sauce was okay. In general, I wish we had kept driving.
