Yelp
I am addicted. It's a small shop located in the city of Mineral Wells. The shop is on top of said mineral well. If you drove though the city you can't help but notice the large vacant hotel which in it's time must have been GRAND. Local lore has it that movie stars and other assorted 'rich and famous' stayed there in order to heal themselves in the therapeutic mineral waters.
When I-35 cut just South of the town, it literally shut the place down. Now the city is not much more than a quick stop on the way to Possum Kingdom Lake.
However the healing mineral waters remain and still have their medicinal power. One of the main attributes to the water is lithium. No wonder the movie stars felt better. Either way the water is available for sale in three levels of mineral-ness and various sizes. There's the Premium Drinking Water with not much mineral water involved. There's some Deep Well Water that tastes like well water and has a claim to better health. And then there's the Crazy Water. One taste and your mouth will pucker up into an "EW...CAN IT BE WORTH SWALLOWING?" It's rumored to cure liver problems, arthritis, as well as other ailments.
Good luck with the water drinking...that's not what I'm addicted to. It's the lotions. They make the Crazy Water into a variety of skin products. My favorite is the Oatmeal Spice Jojoba Lotion which is 89% organic and full of concentrated Crazy Water. This stuff smells wonderful and makes my skin feel and look great. It's better than any over the counter lotion I've ever used. They sell everything from body scrubs to facial toners. And the choices in scents is really nice. They have Indian Paintbrush and Honeysuckle.
They also have candles and other products. Go to the website. Look at the stuff and get the lotion. Better yet, drive out there, wonder what kinds of ghosts haunt the old hotel, taste the water, go to the lake and buy all kinds of body stuff to give as gifts.
One more note, they do have concerts at the Famous Mineral Water Co. I checked the calendar and noted some bluegrass bands. I think this would be great fun.
