Where to Sip Cool, Creamy Milkshakes Around Portland | Eater Portland

"This family-friendly, DIY craft studio with elaborate milkshakes opened its Portland location earlier this year. While working on your chosen craft kit (pottery painting, wreath making, etc.), you can also enjoy a massive milkshake, with options like a cookie dough shake topped with a cupcake and a chocolate chip cookie. The coffee milkshake includes a honey bun and a biscotti, while the strawberry cheesecake arrives adorned with a strawberry Pop Tart and shortbread cookie. Plus, all the milkshakes served come in a mason jar customers can take home with them."

I just left the Leawood location, and my party had an amazing time! The milkshakes brought all the art to the yard and were amazing, Hunter and Haley were fantastic. They explained everything clearly and had a great attitude (even tho we suck artistically lol ). We’ll definitely be back!

Would not recommend this location, our first time stopping in and made the employee working well aware of that and she did not bother to really explain what was available or how it worked outside of handing us a menu. Expected with all the competition in KC that customer service would be a priority but have received better service from their competition.

Great staff with a ton of options. Very accommodating for little kids, but I would be more likely to take my wife on a date or send her with a girlfriend than take the entire family. It’s a little pricy, but worth it for the experience. The milk shakes are a work of art and truly decadent. I can’t imagine eating one by myself.

Cool artistic place, the milkshakes were delicious and awesome to see. Although it was hard to drink milkshakes while your hands were occupied with paint.

Previously left a 2 star review, but tried again and it’s been fun since. I think you just need to tell them if you want guidance on your project or if you’re happy working alone, maybe they could include asking as art of paying for your project. During the weekdays it’s usually really quiet in there so it’s a nice place to relax and paint, and the milkshakes are so good.

BAD BAD BAD. If I could give it less than 1 star I would. Warning to people with skin that doesn’t look yt DO NOT GO HERE. Warning to everyone in general: Cheap supplies, no guidance, my child and I were told to stand to do our craft she couldn’t even see over the counter to see her project. Never offered us a seat so we took a seat after 15 minutes. Then we were asked to move and join someone else’s table! Super awkward for them AND us. Milkshake took 30 minutes to come out. Paid $130 for 2 foam ball caps with some patches and a single milkshake, they didn’t even have us do it just place them where we wanted them then they did it for us. I could go on. Ridiculous should’ve read the reviews first.

Google
We went just for the milkshakes. It was a little pricy, and took almost 30 min to make the shakes, but it was definitely worth the experience. The crafts look like they would be fun!

Super fun place to hang with friends and do some arts and crafts! Lots of different projects to choose from, and a great selection of over the top, delicious milkshakes!

Yelp
*MILKSHAKE REVIEW ONLY* The peanut butter / chocolate milkshake was fabulous! Loved all the hidden little treats within! (It's fun to try something new, but we'll probably cut our cost in half and head for ice cream next time!) We took our voluptuous milkshake to go and simply walked around the yard area by Bamboo Penny's. Lovely evening! Crafts: We didn't do any ourselves, but it looks like a fun (but $$) crafting time! From macrame, candle making, patch work, ceramic painting, and more. A great date night option for sure!

Yelp
I adore this place. My introverted side very much enjoys the calm vibes and opportunity to create/craft in this inviting space. Great place for a date night, whether you and your person want to work on a craft together or separate pieces. Also great to go by yourself as the times we've gone haven't been busy and overwhelming. Typically good music playing at a reasonable volume. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I appreciate their knowledge of the options available and helping instruct you on getting started if needed. As someone who is not very artsy and intimidated by a completely blank canvas, I love the craft options here that give you a bit of a start but still a lot of room to make it your own. They have some large and in charge milkshakes that I've heard are quite good as well.

Yelp
Who doesn't want a customized hat? Creative Culture has some new menu items: - pour your own candle - plaster arts - bath salts - plant bar - wreath bar - DIY hat bar Such a fun experience. Bring the kids, bring the girls or heck even bring the hubby. There's something fun for everyone to create. Plus they have mega milkshakes!!

Yelp
This review is strictly for the milkshakes. At first it felt very odd to go to a craft/D.I.Y. place for milkshakes but boy am I glad I D.I.D. The guy working there acted like it was perfectly normal to not partake in the craft side of the business which put us at ease. I ordered The Original (Oreo). Now it wasn't exactly like the picture online but close enough for me and I enjoyed it all the same. I believe it's worth the $14 and you get to take home the cup. We intentionally didn't eat before we came and I'm so glad- it will fill you up. Slightly random place for a fun drink but I recommend it- great milkshake and you can check out everything else they offer while you're sipping without the pressure.

Yelp
Such an unassuming gem hidden in Park Place! Came here on a Thursday night with some friends to paint pottery and enjoy milkshakes. There was no one there when we arrived, but as the night went on a handful of couples stopped in as well. The lady was very sweet and explained all of the available crafts they offered. She showed us examples of previous pottery work, gave us advice, and checked up on us throughout the night. The selection was decent, and we all were able to choose a piece we liked. I went with a plain cup and painted bows all over - bows are all the rage, and I am here for it! Anyway, the paint selection was vast with different shades of each color, and they had a nice guide with already glazed and fired colors. We were provided with reusable paint holders that had six slots each (but you can use more than just six colors), paint brushes of various sizes & textures, and aprons. Each table has six seats and comes with water, cups, and napkins to wash the brushes if needed. They also had stencils available, but we didn't end up using any. The entire process took us about two hours from start to finish and about two weeks to glaze and fire. We also ordered two milkshakes - The Original Oreo & Monthly Special. The Original Oreo consisted of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, oreo crumbs, one large oreo cookie, cheesecake bites, a rice crispy treat, and pocky sticks. Need I say more?? The Monthly Special was just as good and was my personal favorite. Didn't catch the official name of this milkshake, but this consisted of strawberry ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate, strawberry cheesecake bites, pocky sticks, a rice crispy treat, a chocolate dessert, and cute heart sprinkles that lined the rim. Such a fun, seasonal drink! Overall, we had a fantastic time, and all agreed we want to come back!

Yelp
My son loves Oreo shakes. Every Friday after school, I take him to get his weekly shake. I saw Creative Culture on a friend's post and decided he would get two that week. We were going to see if the shakes were worth the price tag. When we got there, my son was worried I was about to have him paint some pottery. He isn't the creative type or rather he doesn't like to paint and color things. We got to the counter and looked over the menu. My son ordered The Original (Oreo of course) and I had the Treat Yo' Self. I should have tried the holiday one as it looked tasty as well. These shakes were delicious!!! It was like the fancy Bloody Mary's that are full of stuff except it was a shake. The toppings change with the seasons. The jars are plastic though they look like glass and you take them with you. I will definitely come back and might paint something too.

Yelp
BEWARE! They may sell you gift cards and then abruptly shut down shortly later. They did so in Portland, getting away with a $200 gift card sale and leaving me with no way to use it.

Yelp
First time in - the kids were interested in a "fancy milkshake". We didn't partake in the crafts, which seemed cute. We ordered one milkshake to share and it took nearly 30 minutes to get to us. At one point, a staff member even asked if we had received our order. It was tasty. The place was cute. I'm not sure we will rush to go back unless we don't have a timeframe we need to stick to.

Yelp
Fun, trendy, chic, and laid back. This is a great spot for any kind of event! Longtime friends catching up? A date? Birthday or Bachelor/ Bachelorette party? Baby shower? All would be appropriate here. Their milkshakes are very Instagram friendly, and the huge selection of different crafts leaves only your imagination as your limit. Have fun, be creative!

Yelp
Horrible. Made a candle and ceramic piece and was told we could pick them both up on the same date. When we arrived to pick up the two pieces we were then told that they only keep candles for 1-2 weeks. When we responded that we were told we could pick them up with the ceramic piece they responded saying they may have given our candle away on accident. They offered no refund or gift card. We were told we could stay that night (we did not have time and had already been waiting 20min) to make another candle or else we could not get refunded in any way. Will NOT be back.

Yelp
Aesthetically- this is IT. Overall, I walked in and was a bit confused with the layout. When you walk in, its a bit scattered and the menu isn't in the general vicinity as everything else. I had to ask a worker if I could order a milkshake and she was confused with my question...... but it's a really cool shop, where you can paint clay and get a milkshake. I came here specifically for the milkshake. The flavors were good. There's just a lot going on..., so i recommend sharing with someone? Unless you're willing to spend $15 on it. (Personally, I'll pass on the price...)

Yelp
We had an AMAZING time at Creative Culture. The fall craft options were SO cute and the Pumpkin Spice milkshake was the best. HUGE thank you to Scoby. She was so helpful and kind to us. Even during a very busy Saturday afternoon, she checked in on our group regularly to make sure things were going well. I would definitely recommend going to Creative Culture!

Yelp
Love this place. The staff is wonderful, shakes are beyond crazy. We'll definitely be going back.
