Find Coffee and Plants at Eagle Rock’s Creature’s Plants & Coffee | Eater LA

"Opened on August 18 by owner Hope Creature across the street from Sprouts in Eagle Rock, AtCreature’s Plants & Coffee lets customers grab an organic espresso or tea drink and purchase a monstera or fern from a stunning greenhouse on-site. I noted that Creature, a first-time cafe owner who studied horticulture at UCLA Extension and worked in Southern California nurseries, designed the indoor and outdoor seating to merge her two passions into one space. The cafe hosts community-oriented events — Creature mentioned a free music night coming in November and recalled hosting a coffee grounds drawing class — and is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m." - Mona Holmes

Google
Coffee house? Yes! Plant nursery? Yes! This is a very unique venue serving a full variety of interesting coffee and tea drinks in an environment surrounded by plants. You can sit outside in the courtyard or inside the greenhouse! I had an excellent chai tea latte. My companions had a cold brew coffee, a lavender milk tea, and a raspberry rose lemonade! The pastries are excellent, and it is nice that they have savory options. I had the Italian Danish, which was filled with cheese and cherry tomatoes. The almond croissant was crispy with lots of almonds. Please, you are surrounded by plants! The day we were here they were doing a fundraiser and selling what looked like delicious burritos. Judging by the line, they must have been yummy! There is easy street parking in the Is relatively new coffee house/nursery.

Google
Amazing location! You can tell just how much love the staff put into "Creatures". Everything is impeccably curated and presented, and a lot of loving attention is given to the plants. The drinks were delicious, and it was a rare treat to be able to enjoy a tasty beverage while surrounded by vibrant plant life. I also want to give a shout out to the staff, who were incredibly friendly - offering us some great care tips for our new plants. Thank you! 🌿

Google
Relaxing experience, surrounded by plants, forget about the city with an outstanding uncomplicated coffee! Straightforward, creative, and fresh flavors. Very honest. Pastries are a weak point that has to be improved although (the Pain au chocolat didn’t have a proper amount of chocolate, true crime!) Miso latte is a MUST TRY

Found this spot by chance and it’s just the cutest little place ever! A really nice plant store along with drinks and cute stuff?!! SIGN ME UP! My turmeric drink was okay but im excited to try their other stuff cause the place is too cute. The plants are good quality plants too. Love!

Google
A welcoming, serene place to enjoy coffee and sit among plants. 🌱 ☕️ I came to the grand opening on 8/18. I’m so happy to have a new place in town with yummy coffee! The drink menu is pretty extensive without being overwhelming, and the espresso is yummy. The plants are just gorgeous.

Google
Unique and utterly stunning space in the adorable town of Eagle rock. Very peaceful and inclusive definitely somewhere where I will return soon. The gift shop is very beautifully curated and they have a wonderful selection of plants available for purchase

Yelp
This was our first time here and we were so impressed! The coffee was amazing, and the barista was friendly and welcoming. What really stood out, though, was the customer service in the garden section. Lei went above and beyond to help us with our Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree questions. She was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and approachable--she truly made us feel comfortable asking anything. At one point, she even came to find us just to make sure we had all the answers we needed. Thanks to Lei, our visit was not only enjoyable but also very informative. We left extremely happy and will definitely be coming back. Thank you, Lei, for such a wonderful experience!

Yelp
Adorable. Simply adorable. There is so much to love about this spot. Places like this make me want to pursue botany. But alas, I'll live vicariously through my friends because I already have enough hobbies I've fallen behind on. When you order your coffee, make sure to wander all the way around the property because there's quite a bit to see. There's a greenhouse and gift shop. If you want a break from Starbucks culture but still need to study, consider hunkering down here and doing your remote work in the greenhouse. Parking is a bit of a challenge. My friends were able to find street parking right in front but I had a hard time initially. The surrounding residential streets are packed so I can't even recommend parking there. And now for your frugal auntie tip: they have free dog treats! In various jars throughout, there are complimentary dog treats. When the lovely cashier asked if I wanted to take some, I told them yes but didn't have anything to store them in. They went in back and sweetly handed me a small ziplock bag! I'm about to be the favorite with my boyfriend's dogs. I can already feel it.

Yelp
Stopped by here for a coffee and actually stumbled across a free succulent workshop they were offering. It was taught by Paulie who was very informative about the succulents and was so sweet. I got to arrange my plants which was a very fun and relaxing thing to do on a Saturday morning. At the coffee bar, I ordered an Iced Lavender Latte which was a bit on the bitter side but I still enjoyed it. I ended up going overboard a bought my succulent arrangement as well as two other plants and a pot. I love this place so much I will come back!!

Yelp
the sweetest!! so happy to have found this spot on ig, i've been this way so many times & never would have known to check it out. perfect mix of plant shop, café & even gift shop. the matcha lemonade is delicious, service super friendly & everything is so well curated. street parking is super easy. will definitely be a new regular stop!

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance - very peaceful and beautiful! I ordered their season coffee tonic and it was refreshing.

Yelp
Good coffee, cute plants, large outdoor space. Plenty of street parking and there are lots of seating options if you want to hang out.

Yelp
Lovely spot! They have the most darling logo, which I left having purchased a few stickers of for my coffee and plant loving friends. My honey lavender latte was honestly perfect - I could taste both flavors very strongly without it being overly sweet. My friend got an espresso tonic and he enjoyed it. Quiche Lorraine was nice, and they asked if I wanted it warmed up - didn't take long at all. They have a cute shop with pots and other plant accessories and things, I left with a roll of washi tape for journaling. I thought the prices were reasonable!

Yelp
First time here and already smitten! how did I not know this gem existed? Matcha lattes amid lush greenery? Instant new favorite spot. I went for a hot cappuccino, which was absolutely delicious. The restrooms were spotless, and their plant game is on point. clearly they know how to raise thriving greenery. Street parking only, but I had no trouble snagging a spot. Plus, cute little tables outside immersed in the jungles of plants making it even more inviting.

Yelp
4= I'm a fan A wonderful space to peruse plants, sip a coffee, and nibble on a pastry. PARKING Early morning. Tons of available space out front. There is a small lot attached to the location. LOCATION Next to Vidiots Theater, this might be on your regular route without knowing it. Just a block and a half down from Colorado / an easy walk to a nice outdoors seating area. Plastic chairs are comfy enough. Large sail shade canvas provides some relief from too much sunshine. Lots of plants to look at and buy. FOOD / COFFEE Anthony purchased a beautiful looking pastry to go with an iced mocha. I got a drip over ice. Strong and fully roasted dark without being burned. It would stand up well to milk or sugar if that's your thing. SERVICE Fantastic. We showed up and created a bit of a mad rush, but the espressos and hot specialty drinks flowed quickly.

Yelp
Cold brew was good. Ambience was very good. Cashier had an attitude like I owed him something. Hence three stars.

Yelp
To drink coffee is like... Creature's Plants & Coffee (est 2024) is a new little coffee shop and nursery nestled in the heart of Eagle Rock neighborhood of LA. They have a wide variety of coffee, tea and pastries on their menu. Furthermore, what set this coffee shop apart is their plant nursery and huge outdoor space. IMHO it's very creative layout that dovetails the two elements. Creature's outdoor and indoor atmosphere provides tranquility and mindfulness while you sip your drink. We arrived on a cool Friday afternoon to check out this coffee shop. And we were ebulliently greeted by a female (pink colored hair) barista. I had a Butter Croissant and Flat White x half-n-half. It was perfectly made to my liking. Prices were reasonable. Service was on point. Parking lot has only four car spots but ample of street parking. Dog friendly. And they do have Free live music events, clothing swaps, workshops, cultural programs etc. Overall, I had a good experience and enjoyed my drink/pastry. And it's a good place to hangout with friends or bring a date. I highly recommend this coffee shop.

Yelp
I am soooo glad I came back a second time. Honestly, my first visit was disappointing. The shop was fairly new back then, just a month from their opening. Coffee was mediocre and I couldn't justify paying $8 for a watered down, bland coffee. Although the drinks were underwhelming, the ambiance made up for it and it just felt like an oasis - beautiful respite in the middle of busy Eagle Rock. Today, I decided to try this neighborhood coffee shop again. I had the iced mocha with oat milk and I'm well pleased to say that it's not all what I remember it to be. It's a perfect swirl of strong espresso, creamy oat milk, and rich chocolatey flavor. Price is still pretty steep, but hey - we're supporting local business. Ambiance is still lit, you're surrounded by exquisite elements of nature - it definitely feels like you're not in the city. I'll be back!

Yelp
I absolutely love this spot and wanna go back already! The outside patio is so nice with the plants all around you and there's lots of seating to soak in the sun. I got the Cupid cappuccino with almond milk which was sooooo good! Their espresso is strong and the flavors went really well. All of the staff was friendly and nice too. As a matcha girly, I think their matcha latte was just okay so I would recommend their coffee over their matcha drinks. Parking: street parking

Yelp
I LOVE the aesthetic of this place but this is my second time coming here and I'm sorry but I'm not sure what it is but this coffee from this place in not my favorite. I LOVE coffee but this spot from the 2 drinks that I have tried I didn't like. First time that I came here and ordered there Rose Iced Latte 3/10 rate taste a lot of rose ! Not a fan. And second time I ordered a Vanilia Iced Latte 5/10 rate not my type of vanilla latte I would go for here. Has a bunch of plants to purchase and just a really nice relaxing place to catch up with work or with friends. Sadly I don't see myself coming back.
google avatar

Kristine G.

Yelp
The service was great very nice barista, patient! The outside was so nice A lot of plants to purchase, cute places to take pics read study or have a coffee date! The matcha I tried was good not too sweet, we did also try the mango matcha not my favorite was a little too sour not what I was expecting for matcha but overall great spot

Yelp
It's a cute place, a nursery with a coffee shop. I stopped in as I was walking through the neighborhood. I just checked out their variety of plants and the grounds. I wasn't interested in any thing to drink or eat. I really wanted to see what plants and garden supplies they had on hand. There are scattered chairs and tables throughout the space, it's a pleasant environment. Prices on plants seemed a little high, I couldn't see the the prices on beverages, frankly, I didn't look too hard, I'll likely stop by again with the idea of getting a drink next time around. All in all, it's a cute place.

Yelp
What a fantastic concept. This is a legit nursery with a legit coffee shop too. It is so charming with its Zenlike atmosphere. There are even tables in the greenhouse for you to sit and enjoy your coffee while surrounded by beautiful plants and enjoyable music. The outdoor seating area is also lovely. In addition to plants, you can also purchase garden accessories, gift items, and supplies. I received a friendly greeting from Tayla. She was so sweet and patiently waited for me to place my order. The Spicy Mocha sounded intriguing, so I asked for it. I browsed around while waiting for my beverage. There was a lady inside the café on her laptop. I overheard her talking to Tayla and she said that she and another person had worked on the coffee recipes a few days ago in response to some reviews mentioning that the drinks were watered down. It was nice to hear that management/owners read the reviews and decided to make improvements. Obviously, those improvements were already in place because my mocha was spot on. It contained a double shot of espresso, organic cocoa, milk (Your choice. I selected almond.), chipotle chile, ancho chile, & cinnamon. The foam was rich & creamy, the espresso wasn't overpowering, and I could taste the spice on the back end. It was a nice balance. They also sell pastries and cold beverages. If I lived nearby, I'd be here every morning sipping a mocha in this serene & peaceful oasis. *Dog Friendly *Small parking lot & street parking.

Yelp
To the coffee servers, (Don't take it personally. This applies to Starbucks, Jean's, etc): Sorry but the new trend of RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE COFFEES AND ON TOP OF THAT THEY WANT TIPS - it is not something I agree on. I only tip at restaurants that serve plates of food. Aside from that, the coffee was good but I can't go there anymore. I won't be going to Starbucks nor any other coffee shop either. You won't miss me or care since I'm just one person. I'll be going to restaurants for my coffees to go and no one will care if I don't tip

Yelp
This place was so cute. Had the rose latte w almond milk and it was delicious. My order was ready not even a minute after I ordered. Stayed to do some work on my laptop. They had an outlet. Overall very cute vibes.

Yelp
We stopped by today and had a wonderful time. We asked if our dog could come inside and the barista smiled and said, "of course! There are treats at the register too." Needless to say, we instantly fell in love with this place. They have delicious matcha too! I highly recommend Creature's, whether you're looking for coffee/tea, plants or just a cozy place to hang. We can't wait to return.
google avatar

Yelp
Honestly, this cafe is the place of my dreams. I hold extreme love for both plants and coffee and it is a genius idea to combine them into one. You can buy a decent selection of plants and plant accessories/supplies here. On my first visit, the baristas provided a thorough explanation of the business and the drinks. I ordered the Cacao Frappe (blended iced drink made with organic espresso, coconut milk, and sweetened cacao). It tasted of real cacao, not chocolate syrup. The sweetness was well balanced to not overpower the coffee. And I love the fact that they do not charge extra for milk substitutions - which seems to be more common in town than drinking dairy milk. The ambiance is lovely with well spaced outdoor tables throughout. There are even a couple of tables and benches in the greenhouse. A dog was taking a great nap right in the middle when I walked through. I love this place and intend to be a regular.
google avatar

Megan T.

Yelp
This is a super cute plant shop and coffee place! The vibes are perfect, and there is plenty of seating. Seating outside in the shade, sun, or a greenhouse. You can do work, read, or have a fun chat. The plant prices are slightly higher than your average plant shop, and there is a jump from plant nurseries. They have interesting and aesthetic pots and planters. They do have a cool variety and some large plants. I did love the cardboard palm, but it was a bit too pricey for me. I tried the chai and matcha lattes. I did not like the chai; its spiciness was too overpowering for my liking. The matcha thought was delicious and enjoyable.
google avatar

Mark D.

Yelp
Service and operations. They had one employee working both the customer line and coffee line. SUPER SLOW. I phone ordered in to help expedite process. When I arrived I still had to wait in line, only to have the employee say, "ok, those will be ready soon, I just need to make them." Proceeded to make other drinks from customers who just ordered in lines. It's should take this long to get lemonade and coffee.
google avatar

Anthony F.

Yelp
This place is a great hole in the wall to grab a cup of coffee. They have a large amount of plants for sale
google avatar

Amy F.

Yelp
Friendly staff! Plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy your coffee, maybe buy a plant or two! Very cute and peaceful space. Street parking only - they have 3 car lot for 10 min loading/unloading and one handicap spot. It does get pretty busy on the weekend, but great space that combines two of my favorite things!
google avatar

Charmaine G.

Yelp
Such a cutie coffee and plant shop. I came here to work on a pretty summer day and it's exactly what I needed. There's plenty of seating throughout their outdoor space and they even have seating in their greenhouse. If you're looking for outlets there are a few inside where you purchase coffee and a couple outside of the greenhouse. Coffee was delicious (I ordered two drinks) and reasonably priced. I especially love that they have seasonal drinks and it's only .25 to swap for a milk substitute. There's also a really cute store attached as well + and most importantly, plants to purchase everywhere! If you're looking for a unique place to work, study or just vibe, this is it. Oh, and special shoutout to their croissants... fire.
google avatar

Ashlyn R.

Yelp
I love this spot! It's got such a relaxed, yet fun vibe! There's so many cute plants to look at (and shop for hehe). The staff are all super friendly and helpful. I ordered an iced mocha latte and it had a great flavor without being too sweet. The pastries were amazingggg! The ham and cheese croissant and Italian danish were both flaky and light. I would definitely recommend both! The best part is that this place is also super dog friendly. They have free treats and water for your pups! Can't wait to come back again!
google avatar

Jane L.

Yelp
Great place to sit and relax. Spacious. It will become a part of my cafe repertoire. Tons of parking in the residential neighborhood behind the cafe. Only outdoor seating.
google avatar

Marisa M.

Yelp
This place is so cute. Went here with a plant loving friend and she LOVED it! Staff is friendly the selection is great plus all the other plant related goodies for sale. Drinks were yummy too!
google avatar

Romy R.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. They make one of the yummiest flat whites ever, everyone that works there is actually super nice and for the most part you get your drinks quickly. On a hot day, the rose lemonade is a vibe. It is SO nice to sit in the greenhouse or patio with a book or laptop, buy a plant, hang with a friend ....what's not to love?
google avatar

Yelp
Creature: Where Plant Parenthood Meets Coffee Is it a plant nursery that brews coffee on the side, Or a coffee shop hiding behind leaves to get by? Either way, it's a spot worth your time, A leafy little oasis, quiet and sublime. Blink, and you'll miss it as you drive on by, But step inside, and you'll see why Creature's feels like a secret to keep-- A jungle of green where coffee and work meet. But heed this warning, dear laptop users: No outlets here for tech abusers. Charge up, or sit outside if weather allows-- It's the price for peace among the boughs. Now let's sip on drinks and spill the tea: First visit, chai latte--$7, and sadly, More steamed milk than spice, a bit of a miss-- Not one I'd revisit for a chai like this. Round two, an iced matcha took the stage, Vibrant and green, but a little unwhisked rage. Clumps of matcha greeted my straw-- I drank it anyway, though some might withdraw. Drinks? Subpar. But that's not the pull-- It's the plants, the vibe, the air that's full Of calm and green and whispers of growth-- Come for the plants, and you'll leave with both: A sip of coffee, a clump of matcha, And maybe a new plant to take home with ya.

Yelp
First impression I thought this place was gem. Vibes are cute and loved the greenhouse. However for a coffee spot this place is not it. We ordered 2 iced lattes and it was watery. The coffee tasted so watered down I'm not sure what I was drinking and on top of that they were charging $8 a cup of coffee and extra for alternative milks. I understand inflation but wow! This place has so much potential I hope they try or test out other coffee roast.
google avatar

Rome L.

Yelp
Hello, I recently visited Creature's Plants and Coffee and it was so nice. I have patiently waited it's opening since 2024 when I first heard of it and I was very impressed. The layout of the store is intentional and thoughtful. I ordered a refreshing rose lemonade to sip on while walking through and admiring all the plants. There were places to sit all throughout and the greenhouse was nicely done as well. Beautiful concept, mindfully executed. Will definitely revisit to enjoy a peaceful stroll, shop for plants and enjoy a cup of coffee!
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
Great vibes and great coffee. I got a vanilla latte with oatmilk and a vegan chocolate chip cookie. The coffee was great and the cookie was big and delicious. There is plenty of outdoor seating. In the courtyard there is seating amongst the succulents and my favorite spot was in the green house with the leafy plants. Pretty unique coffee shop.
google avatar

Donna L.

Yelp
OK - these people understand our full-on shift into the 'Era of Service'. AI may be taking the low-hanging fruit from your law firm, but nothing with an error rate's chance of giving me dairy when I want oat milk is gonna make my matcha. In other words, regarding coffee shops, I want to feel seen...and so there is Creature's. The coffee-side staff was careful with my order, asking nuanced questions for precision. I was taken aback at how right the person at the counter wanted to get my order. My drink was perfectly smooth and extra hot, as requested. And who knew I needed a plant? I saw many because that inventory is huge here (turns out I didn't), but the lady at the plant-side counter spent 15 minutes helping me solve the mystery of my crazy, half-dead 'outdoor' ficus. She even asked me to bring in pictures of it on my next visit. Pleasant folks who want customers for life. (I'll be back next weekend.)
google avatar

Rebecca R.

Yelp
Cute spot to get coffee and a bite. I love the space they have. Not only can you buy coffee, you can also peruse their wide selection of plants and sit among them with your breakfast partner. I will be coming by again in the near future to pick up some plants. They are well-priced!

Mikah` P.

Yelp
Baristas are friendly, and there are a couple of drinks here I've never had before, and even though I wasn't a big fan of the candy drink, they were so kind to make me another one on the house, the second drink which I definitely loved! Great vibe, great people, and I've been here almost every day this week! Check it out and support local / LGBTQ !
google avatar

Valerie L.

Yelp
Came for ice tea stayed for the vibes. I can't comment on anything else other than what i experienced and that was 10/10 great customer service, refreshing tea and plants everywhere! I did see they had food when you enter on the left side they looked like sandwiches. But i didn't get any, the pastries looked good too. They do seem to get busy but they hustle in there. Also there is plenty of seating outside and some tables inside. I liked hanging out for a bit and do see myself coming in again when I'm in there area.
google avatar

Alana K.

Yelp
Okay, I loved it. My only complaint is that they waited until after I moved away to open and now I can't just conveniently wander down the street to enjoy an excellent flat white in a plant-filled oasis. Lots of seating throughout the garden and inside the greenhouse. Their shop has adorable gifts, and their plants all seem reasonably priced. Looking forward to returning!
google avatar

Josh K.

Yelp
Coffee was delicious! I sat outside and did a little work on the computer...such a pleasant atmosphere. Then moved into the coffee shop when it got a little too hot outside (shade was prime real estate). Before I left, I asked Makai about some options for my amateur balcony garden. She walked me around the nursery and made sure I left with exactly what I wanted (and more). All in all, a lovely experience. Solid iced latte and great plant varieties. Will definitely be back
google avatar

Leslie T.

Yelp
Coffee and plants! What more can you ask for? As a house plant enthusiast I love the concept. A lovely new spot in Eagle Rock that feels like a slice of desert meets plant oasis. Drink prices range in price from $5 -$8.50-ish. We tried their ice tea lemonade and the cacao frappe. The ice tea was nice and tart and bit more on the sweet end. The frappe could have used a bit more coffee flavor and felt like it was extra whipped and airy - it tasted like it had more ice than coffee and cacao. Plenty of great outdoor seating, including in their greenhouse which has two tables. Lots of different groups catching up with friends, on their laptops working, and dogs hanging out. Would definitely recommend for the ambiance. Parking is street parking.
google avatar

Kemy F.

Yelp
This place is such a paradise. Not only is this a coffee shop, but also a nursery to plants. There is outdoor seating which is remarkably beautiful. My favorite spot was the one in the green room. The plants are all so beautiful and you are able to purchase them as well! The rose latte is by far my favorite rose latte iv'e tried . The staff were warm and welcoming. Will be coming back here
google avatar

Ankur

Yelp
It's a nice little cafe with loads of plants! has both a small indoor space and an outdoor space
google avatar

Nemuel T.

Yelp
Such a warm and cozy vibe! You can get some amazing coffee and enjoy it in a garden/greenhouse setting. It's located in the heart of eaglerock but once you are seated, you'll feel like you're in the middle of a garden. The baristas are amazing! They will suggest anything for you and always comes out great. Their matcha isn't as strong as I like, however the coffee is always my go to. Parking is street, but should always be plenty, even on the weekends.
google avatar

Angel S.

Yelp
So cutesyyy! This place is a little oasis! I love the large space full of fresh air, plants galore & cute little seating throughout. the staff were quite endearing & added to the cheerful ambiance. i got their seasonal cupids capp - quite strong! I didn't really taste much of the strawberry. the italian danish was also delicious & pretty filling. i'd definitely stop by again with a relative or friend.
google avatar

Eric P.

Yelp
Parking: street parking Atmosphere: very charming and relaxing nursery cafe Drinks: had the turmeric latte and it was a delight Overall, it fully delivers as advertised. Coffee and plants.
google avatar

Leslie H.

Yelp
What a great concept! To be sitting with your closest friends or family, in what seems in the middle of the garden center of your local nursery, while sipping your favorite hot or cold beverage. Coffee was great, weather and ambience was perfect and staff was friendly. Next time I'll bring my dog too!
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
The vibes here were really nice! It felt welcoming and there were options to order on your phone to reduce wait times etc when the line was long. We came in on a Sunday so it was pretty busy and lots of families were here. Admittedly I was not a fan of the drinks, I ordered the Cacao Frappe and it tasted like watered down oat milk with cacao nibs floating in it and my boyfriend's cappuccino was all foam. There was plenty of seating and it would be a really nice space to hang out and meet up at. The whole place is pretty spacious and there's seating in the greenhouse, outdoors, and two tables indoors (where there's air conditioning ). Lots of street parking available in the residential areas which is nice~
