"Lifelong Des Moines resident and former magazine recipe developer Sammy Mila has been an avid supporter of the local food scene for decades, but lamented the fact that her Laotian and Thai culture was rarely represented on bakery menus. So in 2022, she bought Crème dessert shop and was soon drawing crowds for pan-Asian-inspired items like matcha blondies, milk bread cinnamon rolls, and black sesame Oreo cake. "Oh, and don’t forget dessert. It’s ready for you at Crème Bakery, Sammy Mila’s Asian-inspired bakery. Mila and co. host the ‘90s music-infused “Midnight Munchies” every Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. to Midnight, at which you can sip cocktails and order everything from milk bread cinnamon rolls to ube-Oreo cake slices to scotcheroos. Our cakes were STUNNING! I got my beautiful tiered cake with a modern twist, and my husband got his sentimental groom's cake fit for any true college basketball fan. The cake was delicious and Whitney and her team are a dream to work with. Thank you!

I popped in late in the afternoon hoping to grab a dozen cupcakes, and when I got here realized I should have come earlier- the cupcakes are delicious and the secret is out- so they were almost out of cupcakes for the day. The amazing lady working said that if I could wait for a few minutes she could go pull from tomorrow’s cupcakes, and she went to the back and put together an incredible assorted dozen for me. I am so, so appreciative and was blown away by the customer service.

Many many wonderful cupcakes, desserts (flourless chocolate cake is TO DIE for), and cakes from Creme. Had one issue with a cake & online ordering and the staff went above and beyond to make it right. Don't miss this bakery, they will make your day and event! ✨🧁🎂✨

I recently worked with Crème for my wedding, we ordered a small cake and cupcakes from them and everything was amazing. Whitney was so easy to work with, she answered every question I had and made the process so easy. Our wedding cake looked exactly as I wanted and both our cake and the cupcakes were delicious. My mom cannot eat gluten and she really enjoyed their gluten free cupcake, I'm glad they had that option available!

I should've told them no thanks! I ordered a dozen cupcakes assortment for my adult daughters birthday and on sight I was agasp at how they lacked presentation but was crossing my fingers the taste would make up for it. I was wrong again! Dry crumbly cake topped with melting icing with the adolescent sprinkles blurring into the icing. Horrible! Just horrible! We tossed them out after trying all 4 flavors. Never ever again! $33/dozen

We stopped in yesterday for the first time. At first I was a little surprised by the lack of selection but figured you don’t need a large variety if your product is good. We got a monster cookie, a milk bread cinnamon roll, a double chocolate cupcake and a some sort of banana cupcake. The monster cookie and milk bread cinnamon roll were fantastic. Sadly the double chocolate cupcake was vey dry and the flavor was bad. My boyfriend had the banana cupcake and he did not care for it as well.

SerpAPI
I was really disappointed in this. The reviews made them sound amazing but the 3 I got were VERY DRY. I had one GF and thought maybe that was the issue but the Coconut and the Double Chocolate were both so dry. *Updated* Correction I stopped in around 1200. Ate while bouncing around town at various tourist spots. They honestly tasted stale. I went in around 930-1000 and ate them throughout the afternoon (so by 3pm I’d eaten maybe half of each one) The cookies were better; especially the GF cookies but for $3.25-3.50 a cupcake, I’d just go to Walmart. These are overpriced junk

Creme has a wide variety of baked good, nice vegan options and many alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to choose from. The staff is very friendly.

Yelp
Went in for the first time tonight with a friend, and it was great! They offer boozy bobas, dessert-like cocktails, and cakes and cupcakes galore. The sweets were creative and some had Asian inspired flavors like pandan and I've. They also have some late night snacks like instant ramen or hot dog pastries, which makes it perfect for a late-night stop. I love that it's a local store that sells good from other local business. The workers were so friendly, especially Zee! My friend and I had so much fun chatting, drinking and snacking for a few hours on the weekend. I would say that this place is good for small groups but not big ones due to their space. Has a charming and eclectic feel, and I hope to be back soon

Yelp
Looove the atmosphere & customer service of this hidden little gem. You MUST try this place. Sooo many fun delicious homemade with love options! LGBTQ+ friendly. Indoor/outdoor seating. Late night alcoholic bevies on the weekends! Nothin better than desert & drinks all in one stop!

Dee W.

Yelp
If you like almond flavoring and cream cheese, you are going to love this place. If not, you should pass on this place. I tried cupcakes, ube cookies, rice crispy treats and cinnamon roll. Texture was great in everything but I hate cream cheese and almond flavoring. I gave this a two because of the flavoring.

Yelp
4.5* (out of 5) Food: 5* Atmosphere: 4* Value: 4* Service: 5* 09/09/2023 We were killing time walking down Ingersoll and waiting for our dinner reservation when I saw a sign for Crème. If you follow my posts, you know that I have a strong sweet tooth - so had to stop and check the place out...even though I wasn't supposed to eat dessert before dinner. What could possibly be wrong with a stop at a shop advertising both delicious desserts / snacks as well as cocktails! I couldn't resist eating one of them immediately (even before dinner...), so opted for the Hot Chocolate (spicy) cupcake (see picture). Unfortunately, I was so eager to taste it that it was already unwrapped before I remembered to take a picture. My wife was a little more sensible...opting for the Salted Peanut Butter Honey Chocolate Torte to go. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of it. We both sampled some of each others and found them both to be delicious. The cupcake had just the right amount of spicy kick to go along with the sweet chocolate and frosting - and the torte was every bit as good as you can imagine. If you are in the area and looking for a great sweet treat, snack or cocktail (even late in the evening), you will definitely want to give this place a try. Yelp
Ordering was a simple process with little or no wait. The window display was very enticing with a choice of chocolate on chocolate cupcakes, to an assortment of other sweet flavors. Inside is small with no seating just enough space to place your order on the go. Add this locally owned business to your list to try.

Maya Q.

Yelp
We have come here a few times for sweets. I feel like they are hit or miss. The chocolate items are usually great and very rich but is seems like the fruit based ones are often a let down. Today for instance I was tempted by a strawberry ube cake that was very expensive- so I was bummed when I took a bite and it tasted like vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. But my child picked out a brownie that was delicious! Ive felt the same way about their cupcakes so I should have known better but here we are I would keep coming for chocolate but will probably not waste money on a fruit sweet again.

Cemby K.

Yelp
We got here close to closing time so a lot of the bakery items were already gone but we were able to get a drink & a cheesecake. The decor of this place is beautiful and well thought out, there were plenty of seats to enjoy your drink & snack. I love how the bathroom was clean, and it had feminine products available and a chair for a friend ‍ or your purse lol. The drinks weren't very strong but I wasn't expecting it to be like a bar, it was refreshing w a subtle amount of alcohol. The salted caramel cheesecake was GOOD the caramel brick paired perfectly with the cheesecake and we almost finished it immediately. The service was fast and good, and the workers were there w a smile even when it was 30 mins til closing time! We'll definitely be back next time... a lot earlier to see what else they have on their bakery shelves.

Yelp
This cupcake shop is so unique and has such a friendly staff. The cupcakes are also not too sweet and hit the spot for me. The frosting is great. The green apple cake tasted tart and like streusel. The champagne cake with the peach frosting was light for dense cake. I was surprised! The bookworm cupcake has a mouse inside that was so good!! The owners and staff made the shop such a fun place to be. They talked to everyone and made it a place to hang out. Go here!!

Rixku

Yelp
They always have a good selection of cupcakes with unique types of fillings. I came on their opening day and they had a delicious variety of drinks and a very interesting looking blue Thai tea. However, when I came back the drinks weren't there which was a bummer. I ordered other drinks from their menu and it's normally the cold drinks that seem to be their specialty. However, they seem to put a lot of ice which I find isn't bang for the buck. Finding parking to get to the place is a little hard if it's on a weekend for when people want to go on Ingersoll. Overall, I think getting only the cupcakes is the best option when stopping by.

Katherine Y.

Yelp
I always love this place visit regularly and always buy many of the cupcakes and new stuff they always put out on the shelves.

Jessica G.

Yelp
We stopped in and had the chocolate hazelnut torte and the triple chocolate cake. Both were sooooo good. We would definitely come back again!

Kristy H.

Yelp
Get the Scotcheroos!!!! We stopped in on a family trip. It become the highlight of our time in Des Moines. I feel like we tried one of everything. The place has a fun vibe and the owner is awesome! We will be telling stories about stopping in for years to come.

Yelp
Crème is one of those places in Des Moines that just gets it. I stopped in for their holiday open house and was absolutely wowed at their creativity, care, and skill. The store is cozy and quaint, with warm lighting and friendly staff. There are several seating options if you're here with a friend: grab a cupcake and a coffee or tea and enjoy! Otherwise, take to go with their quick service. The holiday treats they had out to sample really wowed me. I need gluten free options, and sometimes, those are pretty hard to come by in DSM. Crème goes above and beyond to make treats for folks who need gluten free options and I love that! They had GF meringue trees, GF reindeer macaroons, and more. Not to mention, they were cute AND delicious! Whether you're looking for a desserts spot to meet a friend after work and grab a treat, or want to wow your family or office with some adorable treats, Crème has got something everyone will love--not just cupcakes. Check them out!

Angie W.

Yelp
I'm so thankful to have found Creme cupcake! We were visiting from out of town and I reached out to see if they could do a custom cake. Whitney did an amazing job doing a custom purple unicorn cake. We did a raspberry lemon cake was which great! I had it delivered to the restaurant ahead of time. I would definitely order from here again!!

Samantha M.

Yelp
The best chocolate chip walnut cookie ive ever tasted! And the cupcakes are sinful they are sooo good

John H.

Yelp
Another couple had been here and brought my wife and I as they said it was a good desert/drink destination...they were right! We grabbed four seats at the bar counter and looked over the menu which offers suggestions for various combinations. That was very helpful, and while we didn't all follow the suggestions (well, our friends did, my wife and I didn't ;-)), we enjoyed our combinations. Our friends split the cheesecake and each got a Champagne Cocktail - they thoroughly enjoyed it! We got the Banana bread pudding to share My wife got the Almond Champagne, and I got a margarita. The bread pudding was decadent and delicious. The drinks were very good - I'm a bit picky about margarita's, and this one was spot on. Our primary server was efficient, if not a bit abrupt. The other servers we interacted with were more outgoing, and all in all service was very good. Our friends said they have had servers there who were very engaged in pairing the deserts and drinks. The drink/dessert grid menu does a good job of offering suggestions and was fine with us, but some may want a more personalized touch. We'll go back!

Omar I.

Yelp
Nice shop and friendly staff. However, I expected to get a fresh piece of cake for the price I paid. I got the Oreo black sesame cupcake, a slice of the chocolate velvet cake (which were recommended by the staff member), an americano coffee and a mocha for $20. Both the cup and the chocolate velvet cake were very stale and dry, the only good thing was the frosting of the chocolate velvet cake. I definitely expected to get something fresh and of a much better quality for the price we paid. I only gave it a 3-star rating because of the kind staff, not the quality of their products!

Luke X.

Yelp
I like the concept for this place. Pairing drinks with desserts is so fun! There's also interesting drink concoctions and seasonal cupcakes. It's a nice short walk from other bars and restaurants. We actually stopped in after having some bites at another place nearby.

Kristyn M.

Yelp
What a friendly atmosphere. Stopped here for dessert one evening. The kind lady behind the counter greeted us and came over to our table to explain what they had to offer. There is weekly specials and she showed us on the menu that all the deserts have a drink to pair with them if you like. Going in with a sweet tooth is the idea, because that is what they specialize in. I had the delicious apple crisp and got to taste of the martini my friend ordered. I really loved the friendliness of this shop. The cupcakes are really yummy and I would recommending stopping in for some fantastic sweets.

Shannon J.

Yelp
UPDATE: Créme got in touch with me, refunded the price of the cake and gave me a gift card for future use. I really wish the cake had turned out better, but I do appreciate the apology and gesture. I ordered a black and gold striped cake with fondant icing. I emailed them a picture of my design idea so they could see exactly what I wanted (months in advance) and I followed up a week prior to the event to make sure everything was still a go. I was shocked at how different it looked from my inspiration picture. The fondant was heavy and chunky. The color on the gold stripe was very splotchy. When I got to the party, I saw the back side of the cake. The fondant seams were hideous...you could literally see them from across the room and an hour into the party the fondant was actually starting to slide down the side of the cake. I will say the cake was delicious, but I'm very confused as to why my cake looked so sloppy.

Yelp
We stopped here after a birthday dinner for a birthday treat and we were not disappointed. I have heard about this place and never made a point to stop at night until now. First off, FABULOUS summer shandy. I know this is a bakery, but I have yet to find a local bar that will make a homemade shandy. Instead, they serve the canned/bottled premade stuff (ewww). This has a special addition to the typical lemonade and beer. St. Germaine. Don't let it weird you out. I am glad I didn't. It was so refreshing and delicious. I had it with the suggested pairing of the cinnamon crème brulee. Holy yumminess! I love a good crème brulee. I was sad that it didn't have the typical fresh fruit to accompany it, but my shandy pairing made up for that and honestly, it didn't need it. I loved the spice flavors. My husband had the flourless chocolate torte with a white Russian. I got to taste his torte and that was also yummy, especially with the almond flavored frosting on top. For him, he said it lacked the dark chocolate punch that he expects out of these types of desserts. But, he still finished it. Looking forward to coming back and tasting the other goodies they serve.

Stephanie P.

Yelp
I had not been here in years but we gave it another try the other night and boy everything we had was super delicious! I was a little Leary when we ordered a Tres leches cake that was vegan. It was so good I wanted much more than the bit I took from my friends piece. I have to admit I might have snuck a couple more bits... They also have craft cocktails and coffees to pair with the desserts too. You can sit either inside or outside. If you want to sit outside there will be no alcohol served outside but everything else can be served out there. They are open in the evenings so you can get a little dessert after dinner at your favorite eatery on Ingersoll! Give it a try, I think you will enjoy yourself!

Emma B.

Yelp
We're on a road-trip across the country and I am a super lemon square snob and these ones were AMAZING. Friendly staff and a cute little bakery! Edit: just tried the cupcakes. I don't like cupcakes but HOLY CAMOLI I CANT BELIEVE MY TASTE BUDS. THEY ARE IN HEAVEN. So fluffy and moist and rich and delicious. Not too sweet, full of flavor. I'm angry I didn't buy more.

Sherri L.

Yelp
I had the most amazing moist peanut buttery Monster cookie today.I'll be back again.Everything looked delicious !

Yelp
My husband and I came here for dessert to cap off our anniversary celebration. We had already eaten just down the street at Jesse's Embers. Our waitress there actually suggested coming her for dessert. I had been here once before but it was for my Baby Shower, which was hosted by a friend, so I didn't feel right reviewing them. My husband had never been. Parking is not ideal. I noticed this both times I've been here. Not much street parking to be had. At night we parked at the place next door but during the day, parking is difficult if you don't want to walk. Entering, there were quite a few tables occupied and a few people at the bar. We walked up to the counter and asked if they had cheesecake (what I really wanted). They asked if we would be eating there or taking it to go. I said here and they told us to select a table and they'd bring menus out and explain them. So, we sat down and in a few mins they came to us with menus. The menus showed desserts and drinks pairings which I think is very helpful. I selected the Tiramisu Cheesecake (the specialty cheesecake that day) and my husband ordered a Manhattan. Both items came out rather quickly. My cheesecake was delicious! It was a great merge of the cheesecake I love and the taste of Tiramisu that I also love. Just perfect! My husband enjoyed his Manhattan. The prices weren't too bad. Considering desserts at any restaurants aren't cheap. I found these comparable. I found myself thinking of having a girls night here soon. Definitely give it a try if you're looking for yummy dessert and drinks.

Leah A.

Yelp
Service is always great. A fun date night spot after drinks or dinner, or when you get a sweet tooth. I wish they'd stock more gluten-free and vegan options, I usually have to choose one or the other and deal with the consequences. (But, totally worth it!) When they do have them, they're usually cupcakes and they run out quickly. The featured dessert is usually the one to order. Here is the feature from our visit: "S'mores Bomb". Appropriately named. I snuck a bite of my date's and it was to-die-for.

Rachel W.

Yelp
We popped in here late one night to try out some cupcakes, but I wound up enticed by the lemon bars (mmmm), which were drool-worthy. The other two in my party had cupcakes, and they said those were also tasty. Crème Cupcake has more traditional flavors and desserts. I do believe their forte is making fantastically decorated cakes! Stop in for a treat!

Charles W.

Yelp
A rotating selection of cupcakes and other baked goods. They now have pies on some days! Yummy.

Courtney G.

Yelp
This is the best dessert in town. Consistently great and tasty with a changing seasonal menu and varieties of drinks as well as sweet treats. I would recommend: the brownie (sooooooooo good), the coffee drinks, and basically any seasonal treat that strikes your fancy. They have gluten free and vegan options for those who need them (and full gluten and non vegan for those who don't). They can make wedding cakes, birthday cakes, all the cakes!! This place is also owned by a lady (if that sways you at all) and they were featured on one of those competition baking shows. I believe it was cupcake wars, but you can Google that yourself. Parking is a little difficult here, but generally, parking in front of zanizbars or on the side street next to Smitten Kitten are two good choices.

Mary V.

Yelp
I like the concept of fancy cocktails paired with desserts. Look for any bourbon/whiskey based cocktail to pair with anything sweet -- ahh! So heavenly! This would be a great spot for an after dinner date; followed by Creme for dessert and cocktails what a win. :)

Mylon P.

Yelp
Order: Double chocolate cupcake, cappuccino Price: $12 Pros: If you like cupcakes they were pretty good, they had a wine pairing suggestions with most of the cupcakes Cons: Terrible coffee (as in couldn't even finish it), overpriced for just cupcakes in my opinion Thoughts: Let me start off by saying that I'm not a huge cupcake fan, but Des Moines didn't seem to have a large desert presence other than this so my buddy and I decided to give it a shot. Seeing as I'd been without decent coffee for coming up on three days now I settled on a standard "double chocolate" cupcake and cappuccino. I had assumed that they would be a bit on the pricy side given the "as seen on cupcake wars" sign on the door but it was still a bit of a shock. I mean their just mini cakes, but the price makes me think they should be a top end bakery. The servers seemed nice enough but a little on the snooty side. That, along with all the wine pairing options they suggested for the cupcakes almost gave it the feel of a ritzy, high end club...except they only serve cupcakes and wine. Once the items made it to the table, I took a sip of cappuccino...and immediately set it aside. Unfortunately my quest for a decent cup of coffee would continue and this was just below Starbucks on the quality scale. The chocolate cupcake was good, honestly, but seeing as I'm not the biggest cupcake fan it was pretty hard for me to enjoy this place. While there was nothing really "wrong" with the cupcake itself, it really couldn't offset all the other negatives I found about the place. If you're a high-end wine and cupcake person (is that a thing?) then you should probably give this place a try; but if you're not, you may want to seek your fill of sweets elsewhere.

Yelp
**Dessert Lounge Review** After a night out and about, we decided to stop in for dessert and some drinks around 10 pm. First of all, the idea behind the dessert lounge is GENIUS. Late night desserts, with several recommended drink pairings from wine, coffee, liquor, and even tea. They had several desserts available, including gluten-free and non-chocolate options. The cafe is cute and clean, and our service was good. Our waitress even got us the name of the wine that we loved, so that we could go out and get some of our own later. Now, on to the food and drinks! Chocolate Peanut Butter Lava Cake - My husband is a lover of all things chocolate and peanut butter, so he saw this on the menu and had to have it. It was warm, and the peanut butter inside paired so well with the cake and the chocolate ganache it was served with. A+ Banana Bread Pudding w/ Honey Latte - Sweet, soft, warm and buttery. A beautiful bread pudding bounty, and the honey latte was refreshing and a perfect pair. Cinnamon Creme Brulee w/ Almond Champagne - The creme brulee was pretty good, and had the perfect amount of cinnamon to add nice flavor without being overbearing. I prefer my creme brulee with a thicker crust, but this was a good one nonetheless. The champagne was DELICIOUS. So much so, that we asked our waitress where they got it! Flourless Torte - This was the dessert I ordered and I LOVED it. The torte was dense, moist, and super chocolatey. The cream on top was infused with almond, which really gave it a distinct flavor profile and I felt elevated the whole dish. It was also served with a slathering of caramel, which had a very slight burnt tinge to it. Again, it added a lot of complexity to the dish. I love that Creme is open until 12 am, as so many places in the Metro close shop early. We had a wonderful time sitting, drinking, and being merry. I highly recommend you stop by Creme for their dessert lounge next time you are out and about!

Yelp
Cute place with a modern style & experience. You can come in and grab a cupcake, or wait for a server and have dessert & drinks. They have a couple GF options and vegan options, nothing that is free of gluten AND dairy, though. They also only have soy milk for their lattes/vegan items, which contains allergens, so all I had is water. However, that's not an issue for normal people & isn't the subject of my review; 4 stars, due to the massive confusion we endured. We came in and hung around the counter, until we realized we were supposed to wait for a server- except my friends came for cupcakes, not dessert/drinks. The server asked if we'd been in before, we said no. I asked about the allergen stuff, which she eagerly checked & I got a prompt response. My sister/BIL ordered dessert & a cupcake, because we'd already started that service and they're from out of town; why not? They got their food: Vanilla cupcake & Chocolate Flourless Torte. They loved it, they thought it was worth the cost. We sat for about 15 minutes after they ate with no sign of a server, so they went up to pay. Nobody explained if that's the typical process, so I have no idea if we were supposed to wait for a check? Idk, I personally can't eat here so I shouldn't need to worry... but you might ask someone to explain the format of their shop to you, if you're awkward like me! Overall, great food & scene- confusing ordering experience.

Craig Z.

Yelp
Caught this place out of the corner of my eye while driving by. I stopped in a gave a cupcake a try. It was terrific. $3 is a little steep imo though. Maybe 4 for $10 or something would encourage you to buy a few more.

Caitlyn K.

Yelp
After I heard that they were on CupCake Wars, I knew that I had to order my sister's birthday cake from here! I wanted a custom cake and the lady that helped me design the cake was super helpful and straightforward; a quality that I appreciate. When the cake was done, I was very pleased. It turned out just like how I wanted it to. I ordered an 8" round custom cake and paid roughly $70-$75 which is not bad at all because it was very nicely done and tasty. As for the cake flavors, they have an extensive list of cake, icing, and filling flavors. I ultimately chose the caramel macchiato cake with caramel macchiato buttercream. The cake was very dense so one (small) piece was more than enough to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Peter N.

Yelp
Tonight was my fourth time stopping by this place in the last couple of weeks. I figured that deserved five stars. I have tried the cinnamon rolls, fudge brownies, lemon bars, and cupcakes and I they were not only amazing, they were very affordable. The value here is awesome, the service is great, and I'll keep on stopping by I'm sure

Dave R.

Yelp
This is a newer gem in the DSM area! We had the peanut butter lava cake fearing that it'd be this gummy wad of peanut butter encased in flavorless chocalate cake in a sea of Bosco (the power of positive thinking, right?). We were very pleasantly surprised! It's a keeper. I wasn't overwhelmed by the banana bread pudding dessert, however. I don't know what i was expecting, but .... we're back here ordering the lava cake and a s'more bomb. Good service. I like the counter. The noise level is manageable.

Dhriti C.

Yelp
A cupcake place that has a pairings menu which helps you pick a dessert and drink that goes with it. I got the hot chocolate fudge, hubby got banana pudding and my kiddo got chocolate fudge....llllllooooooovvveeed it. Also took a pic of some of the cupcakes

Julia A.

Yelp
This place is open till midnight! At least it was on Saturday. That is so rad. I'm so coming back for cocktails.

Janet E.

Yelp
This company was a competitor on the Food Network Cupcake Wars. We ordered a few cupcakes from here. The gluten free chocolate cake with vanilla frosting cupcake. The cupcake was moist and the frosting was not super sweet. It actually tasted very good. Unfortunately the red velet was not very red and the cake was not very moist. Also the frosting was too sweet and overwhelmed the cupcake. We also ordered the fried snickers which was chocolate cake with peanut butter filling and vanilla frosting with bits of potato chips on top. The cake was again not very moist and the frosting was too sweet. We're not sure which cupcake won them a spot on the Cupcake Wars, but if I were to try this place again I'd stick only with the gluten free cupcake.

Yelp
Drinks and Dessert, how can you really go wrong on a place like this! You can't, people love sweets and Creme has got you covered on both departments! They will pair the perfect drink with a nice made in house Dessert for you! This is the kinda place you may want to finish a date, after a nice meal on Ingersol or downtown! Or heck go in after school or work and treat yourself! Prices here a bit higher, as is the quality of the sweets! You can tell they put a lot of care in to what they are doing here! Not much here for vegan, but they do have Vegan cup cakes from time to time, so that rules and they are always up for making a vegan something! So that is rad service in my department! The place is really nice as well, well cared for and fun to hang out in, like I said, bring a date, try to impress, and let the desserts and Mexican coffee do the rest!

Ashley S.

Yelp
This place is not only adorable but there house coffee and cookie dough cheese cake is to DIE for!

Bill L.

Yelp
Our first time here was the first day of DSM Restaurant Week, and apparently we were their first customers of their Restaurant Week dinner. We've heard a ton of great things about this place and wanted to try all the yummy options they offered, but we were also curious about their Restaurant Week option. The staff members were extremely friendly and answered our questions with ease and accuracy! What they offered for Restaurant Week was a sampler platter which included their Bannana Bread Pudding, Fried Cake Balls, and Flourless Chocolate Torte. It also came with TWO Upper Westside cocktails. We just ordered one dinner platter to share between the two of us, which makes it a pretty good experience ( I wouldn't recommend each person getting a $25 platter). The drinks were big and we'll-presented, but the important part was, the drinks were good! Very tasty, I'm not a big drinker, but this drink had me smiling. The dessert platter came not too long after and the items were very nicely presented on a tray. The Bannana Bread Pudding and Fried Cake Balls were very good! The Flourless Chocolate Torte was...not very good in my opinion, now I've never had anything like that so I may just be an inexperienced amateur, but I didn't like it. Overall we were satisfied with what they offered for Restaurant Week, but we are definitely hoping to return to try out all the yummy items they have!

Yelp
Crème is quite the celebrity cupcakery in Des Moines (and on the Food Network circuit), so when our dining partners recommended a late night sweet stop after stuffing our faces for hours at La Scala, we couldn't resist. They raved about the Mexican coffee cocktail and late night dessert and dessert cocktail pairings. I was borderline ready to puke from eating and drinking so much before we strolled in to the happening Crème at 10 p.m. but in true gluttonous/cantmissthisdiningexperience Brittany fashion, I rallied on. The place was packed but they quickly cleared a table for us to proceed with an order that included Mexican coffees for everyone (Kahula, coffee, some sort of fire action, etc.), banana bread pudding, fried cake doughnuts, chocolate torte, tiramisu and I believe, carrot cake? The fried cake doughnut appeared to be a crowd favorite at the table but I was drooling over the moist and dense banana bread pudding. I'm a fan of bread pudding in general, so throw some bananas in it and call me a happy camper. (I'll have to try this the next time I make it at home!) The coffee left something to be desired - it was on the bitter side and I'm thinking it was old coffee maybe? Something seemed off but I couldn't put my finger on it. Overall, this business makes for a fun date night whether it be with a group of friends or a date-date. The menu is playful and offers something different than your average bakery.

Yelp
I ordered a vegan cake with champagne flavor and lemon cream cheese frosting and filling. The cake was beautiful!! But most importantly, it was absolutely delicious!!! Spongy, soft, with delicate flavors, the champagne and lemon just perfect! Everybody was delighted and could not stop eating. Highly recommended!! Definitely going back!!!

Yelp
I like grabbing a desert here while relaxing, they have a desert and drinks here sure to make many happy. Its in a very nice location near the downtown area so this isn't too far out of away for you to try. I enjoy there cupcakes, they have a nice selection to try. The desert lounge menu item I tried was the bread pudding, they did a nice job with it and was very satisfied with it. For sure come for the desert lounge, great place to unwind.

Yelp
It's a bar. With cake!! Liquor and cake - the two best things in the same place! The cupcakes are amazing - they keep the daily cupcake menu small which I like because I get overwhelmed if there are too many choices. The favors for these cakes are amazing - you have to try a cupcake here at least once! The desserts here are out of this world too. One thing I like about the dessert menu is that each dessert is paired with an alcoholic and a non alcoholic drink. Choosing a drink to compliment you dessert just enhances the whole experience! If you don't like liquor they have some great coffee drink too - but I highly recommend you try their mixed drinks! Great atmosphere here - not too noisy mostly just friends having civilized conversation and unwinding at the the of the day. All of the staff here is friendly - if you're having trouble deciding what to try they are more than eager to make some suggestions! Absolutely love this place - I need to make it here more often :)

Yelp
They made a custom made Katy Perry rainbow cake for my daughter's 5 year old birthday party. Looked amazing and somehow tasted even better, no matter your thoughts on Katy Perry. Their customer service was great, and they even posted pics on their FB/Instagram/Twitter accounts. They seemed proud, as they should. Great work on a custom cake...I look forward to going back to sample all of their over the counter goods (and I'm not even a big sweets guy).

Yelp
Only reason I can give 3 stars is that they have vegan cupcakes, which is progressive. The bad: the vegan cupcakes aren't the best. They're worth having as a need-a-treat treat but it is nothing to write home about. Sometimes I keep trying them to see if they get better... Not so much. My husband doesn't mind their other cupcakes though.
