The Hottest New Bakeries Around Boston

"Brookline is home to multiple hot new bakeries this year. Just a short walk away from Lakon lies Crémeux, a New Hampshire import that specializes in French pastries. Yes, the ham-and-gruyere and almond croissants are a must but save room in your box for the other pretty little creations in the pastry case, including tangy lemon meringue tarts and chocolate eclairs." - Erika Adams

When I tell you that these are the best French pastries I’ve ever had outside of Paris, I’m being dead serious. The selection is small but very well made each time (though be sure to get there early as things sell out fast!) and the owner is an absolute delight! Cannot recommend enough!!!

Crèmeux French Patisserie is an absolute gem! Every bite of their creations is pure perfection. I tried the Pommadine, which was dense, soft, and incredibly moist—truly unforgettable. The apricot tart was a delightful balance of cool, smooth, and refreshing flavors. The almond croissant was a standout—light, crispy, subtly sweet, and perfectly moist. And the ham and cheese croissants? Buttered brilliance with a light, crispy exterior and a moist, flavorful center. The quality, attention to detail, and authentic flavors here are unmatched. This place is a must-visit for anyone who loves French pastries done right. I’ll definitely be back!

I bribed Isabella with big smile in my face to get extra ice on my water. Joke aside, lemon tart is my fav, lemon in anything is really good, especially all cakes selling here has great balance of sugar and sour. Pear flat also great, I finished it quick, so I don’t really anything than a thumb up.

Loved their chocolate croissant, the flakiness was on point! Butter croissants were all out so I’ll have to go back again to try those. I also got a hot latte that was very well made. I think it was the owner that was present and was very polite in his interaction, something that many a place don’t do nowadays. They also had a full section of chocolate offerings which seemed delightful. Definitely recommend checking them out.

They do have the best savories in Brookline, very friendly staff. I would highly recommend this place for anyone interested in French patisserie!

Google
A great variety of French pastries. However, its canele isn’t as good as other stores that sell canele I’ve tried in Boston. Quite some tea choices were out of stock Absolutely spacious, quiet and comfortable environment for my friend and me to have a good chat on a weekend morning. Street parenting right outside, very convenient. Also accessible to MBTA green line

Google
This cafe is the closest cafe that I could get to a really authentically tasting French pastry in Boston. The interior and design are minimal and neat, nothing too fancy. But I don't care. The croissant tasted excellent and Americano was great too. Talked to the wonderful owner at length. It becomes quite clear that she cares a lot about this cafe and the quality of her products. They import ingredients directly from France and I could taste it. Maybe I sound too exaggerating but just give it a shot!

Google
The selection isn’t as wide as that of other French bakeries in the area, and a lot of the pastries were sold out by the time I dropped in at 14:30. However, CRÉMEUX also offers chocolates, which I haven’t seen at other places. - Duetto Nougat & Sesame ($1.74): The chocolate melted a bit by the time I was able to try this, which affected the texture, but the taste was still good. Smooth, not too sweet, and true to the flavors listed. - Tahitian Vanilla Bean Macaron ($2.75): Expensive but yummy. The shell was slightly crunchy but had a soft, chewy center, and the filling was firm and creamy.

Yelp
Used to love this place. They had excellent fresh pastries and baguettes. Now the pastries are often stale and the baguettes have been shrinking and getting thinner for the same price. The thinner baguettes are just to crusty to enjoy. Started buying Iggy's baguettes at whole foods. Not as good as this bakery's original baguettes, but at least they are fresh and soft on the inside.

Yelp
I stopped in here to snag myself some macarons. When I tell you they were the stalest macarons I've ever had... and one was burned! I wish I'd returned them after the first bite, but we'd already made our way down the street. Such a huge disappointment for a patisserie.

Yelp
I stopped by earlier this morning to check out this new bakery in Coolidge Corner and i'm so glad i did! What to get here: Got to try out a couple croissants (a regular plain one and a ham & gruyere croissant) which were both incredibly crumbly, flaky, and with excellent laminated layers. While I did wish that the plain croissant could be a tad less dry, the ham & cheese croissant here was AMAZING and now one of my favorites in the area. Fun fact: The pastry chef/owner is of French descent and actually studied french pastry and worked in Paris for some time before moving back to the States to open up his own patisserie. Really admire his passion and commitment to his craft! I will definitely be coming back here soon (but hopefully not as soon as tomorrow lol lol)

Yelp
Fantastic! I was wondering the streets of Boston and I came across this place. When I visited and picked up some of their ham and gruyere croissants and some sweets that I took back home to Merrimack to enjoy. While I was being helped, the employee informed me that they do not bake these on-site and that they come from their first store in Merrimack, NH, right after baking every morning! Wait, WHAT? I live in Merrimack! Everything was amazing, even with the travel. I would make it a point to come back here, if the main location wasn't already in my back yard! Seriously a yummy place!

Yelp
If you love authentic French pâtisserie, this is the place to be! We accidentally walked in this store one day and it was about the end of the day. Unfortunately there were not many pastries left. However, with help of the person working in the store, we selected a few items and had a cup of coffee there. Everything was wonderful! We were told that we had to come early in the morning in order to get the best selections, which we would definitely do.

Yelp
Had mocha noir and cheese and ham croissant. Both were delicious! It looked like they had variety of choices of chocolate and macarons as well. The service was fast and the environment is calm and clean.

Yelp
Went here back in August while hanging with my cousin! I'm originally from California and they had the best croissants. That perfect crunchy but airy bite through your teeth. Delicious 10/10. I also had the Passion Fruit Pavlova which was also sweet & tasty. They also have these cute little packaging which is sooo useful for takeout. :) Overall, best bakery I've ever tried in town. Thank you Alex and to Alex's mother you are so kind and polite. I'd come here once again next time I come to Boston!

Yelp
Loved It! I stopped in today, a Sunday morning. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the product! I tried a new pastry, which I have never tried before. I believe it was kouign-amann. Absolutely delicious! I enjoyed the treat with an expresso; it was the perfect breakfast combination. However, the most delicious thing I purchased was the baguette! OH MY!!! Once I arrived home, I cut into that authentic french crusty bread and spread goat cheese on the bread without any toasting. I then smothered the bread with roasted veggies and a few drops of balsamic vinegar, like, the real stuff, and WOW!!! That baguette IS France!!! Oui! As the owner told me this morning, he uses the best ingredients and I can tell because he has created the best results. And that baguette provided me an express trip to Paris without the jet lag! Pop-in. Get a treat. And carry home a baguette. Then enjoy! Merci Crémeux pour vos délicieuses créations!

Yelp
All of their pastries and handmade chocolates are delicious. Give it a try for their Kouign-amann

Yelp
Tried this place when it just opened. Did not like the coffee or the goodies. Needs a lot of improvement.

Yelp
New French authentic patisserie and cafe in the area. Variety of interesting and creative viennoiserie, pastries and Leonidas Belgian chocolates! Welcoming atmosphere and warm, very informative staff. The tea is a really fragrant Mariage Frères import. Fun!

Yelp
This is a lovely little French bakery with all sorts of yummy sweet treats and savory bites. At first I was going to see if I could try one of everything on the menu, but then I got addicted to their ham and cheese croissants, so I've been eating those just about every day for a light lunch. They also have espresso, so my usual is a croissant and an Americano. (They've only been here a few weeks. Is it too early for me to have a usual??) Sometimes I'll go and get a latte for my little afternoon pick-me-up and it's always delicious-- not too hot, not burnt, not anything except perfect. Thank you for coming to Brookline, Cremeux!

Yelp
Great new pastry shop in Coolidge Corner. Delicious croissants and pastry. Didn't try, but chocolate from Belgium looks great. excellent caffe drinks. Nice ambiance and friendly service.

Yelp
I had pain suisse and kouign amann. Both had well-defined layers that were flaky on the outside and soft on the inside. So tasty! The owner mentioned that going earlier in the day would ensure that there are more variety of viennoiserie. I'll definitely visit in the morning next time.

Yelp
the croissants are well done and the fougasse (!!) is super. well executed in every respect. Both are top flight. I think they have to work out some kinks since it is not that easy to see the bread/croissants offerings since the bakery seems to be highlighting their delicate individual pastries and the high end chocolate and my interest lies in the breakfast offerings, although the fougasse is an every-meal wonder. For me - the baba au rhum would have been more interesting if it was less sweet with a simpler rum soak, but it was well executed. This part of Brookline is very lucky to have this new addition. I look forward to its evolution and success

Yelp
We are obsessed with this place! I have the biggest sweet tooth, and this is truly one of the best pastry shops I've ever been to. Their croissants are great, other standouts are their eclairs, the lemon honey tartlet, the spice tart, and the baba al ruhm. Next time you have a sweets craving go here!

Yelp
Excellent pastries and sandwiches in a cozy spot. Their viennoiserie is the best I've had anywhere in the US. Friendly service!

Yelp
A wonderful addition to Brookline... we had really good croissants but the pastries looked beautiful and delicious, as did the wide selection of heart-shaped truffles. There are also sandwiches and breads which looked good and I saw trays coming out mid-afternoon, so it was nice to know products are being made fresh throughout the day and they don't seem to run out. I saw them packing up pastries for a customer and the packaging is stunning / European style. I'll be returning here frequently for lunch, treats and gifts!

Lisa L.

Yelp
Such a gem in a perfect location in Brookline with amazing pastries. Not only are the staff and pastries incredible, you can't beat the prices and supporting local! They have a wide variety of pastries and breads, I am addicted to their olive Fougasse. Get here ASAP, it's a must try.

Etienne L.

Yelp
Wonderful place, great pastries, their Leonidas chocolates are divine. Highly recommend!

Caitlin R.

Yelp
Amazing baguette, kouign amann burst into my mouth with a fantastic amazing flavor. The decor was nice, with one cabinet particularly decorated, holiday themed, I really liked that; ceilings were high but there weren't many decorations on one side which made it open but it needs a bit more to make it feel welcoming and homey.

Jenna L.

Yelp
Just tried this place yesterday. Coffee was excellent. The almond croissant was one of the best I've had. And service was fantastic. Highly recommend.
