Best Muffulettas in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Creole House, because of its location on Canal at Decatur, draws a largely tourist crowd. But locals in the know that happen to be nearby would be well advised to check out the restaurant’s solid menu of New Orleans dishes, from char-grilled oysters to po’ boys, red beans and rice, and — ta-da — a damn fine muffuletta, served pressed to melt the cheese." - Beth D’Addono

Awesome food!!!! Word of advice: the sautéed crab claws are excellent!!! The sauce is the star of the dish, and is DELICIOUS soaked up by the toast. There were quite a few she'll pieces, so I don't recommend for children. And word of caution: do not expect the lump claw meat like I did. It is literally the claw tips, but it was still a great dish. But the crabcakes??? HIGHLY recommended!!!!! 😋🤗🤤

It was a bit loud because we were right off Canal but everything else was phenomenal. Our waiter Bilal was so friendly and informative. We did wish the food was a bit more spicier but we were informed they toned it down a bit. I had the stuffed fish. It was so flavorful and a really good portion. I wasn't a fan of the green beans I dont like my vegetables crunchy. A friend of mine ordered the hot honey chicken which wasn't hot at all it was sweet and flavorful though. The other friend ordered the Jamabalay pasta 10/10 so, so good! We got crab cakes and oysters for apps and they bother were really good. The crab cakes were small but they came in 2.

If you are on Canal Street and want to have a great time and eat some amazing food, Creole House is a must! I truly enjoyed the staff and atmosphere. The ribeye was extra tasty and tender! My friend had the grilled oysters and alligator bites she loved all of it! Trust me try them out

Google
This was a great find. Close to my hotel and they have a Happy hour Monday to Friday 3-6. The happy hour menu includes $1.50 oysters, so i had to be there! I love oysters!!! And they have so many options to close from, 6 ways too be exact. All very good. I loved chargrilled, must try. Of course the raw is a classic. I sat at the bar so i got to see the action, they chuck them right there! The staff was great, very friendly. I had a dirty martini, not great but it was ok. Their blackberry brumble was great. I also had Boudin boulettes, a must try, they were great. And for dinner i had their jambalaya pasta, which was great but it was not as hot as i would've liked. It really wasn't hot at all which is why they lost a star. It was a busy night, food took a while so it should've been hot. That was disappointing but it was still very good.

Google
This was our first trip to the New Orleans downtown scene and made this our first restaurant stop. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meals and drinks. The service was excellent and we had a great time. I had the jambalaya with the chicken wings and they were fried to perfection. Will certainly go back again

Google
Amazing tasting food, a especially friendly service and a nice surroundings, that's what you want for enjoying your time i a Restaurant. Everything you will find here. The Kambalaya tastes amazing, the Duck and Andullie was good but the best was the Crawfish Étouffée. So i can really recommend this if you want good and tasty food.

Google
I had the blackened chicken & shrimp jambalaya. It was very dry. Others in the party had po-boys and fries. The bread was hard, but the fries were good. The adult beverages though were really good and made the more enjoyable. Our sever, Jade was good too.

Google
Yo, this old-school oyster bar in NOLA’s French Quarter is lowkey great for a tourist spot! Their happy hour (3-6 PM) is chef’s kiss—fresh oysters for just $1.50 each, total steal!

Yelp
Tonight was I had the pleasure of eating dinner at Creole House the food was delicious. We sat at the bar Spencer was a delight he offered us a pretty Niki that was tasty. The charbroiled oysters were amazing Duce did a great job! Ms. Big Redd stood back and laughed while making the best drinks. Lee service was outstanding. I am planning to come back soon!

Yelp
We checked into our hotel on Canal Street around 5:00 in the afternoon. Wanted to get a little something something before the Sugar Bowl crowd made it back to the area, we settled in Creole House. It was close by and the menu looked great. We were immediately seated. Plenty of tables & everything seemed clean. We settled on Gulf Shrimp Ya-Ya, Crab Cakes & Sautéed Crab Claws. 10/10 recommend. All of them were fantastic & hit the spot. Our waiter, Caiman, was even nice enough to bring us some French bread for us to finish off the meal. Service was great, food was excellent & we beat the crowd from the football game.

Yelp
Two seats were available at the bar on a Friday afternoon and we knew quickly we found a good spot. I took down a 22 ounce Abita Jockamo IPA, which was excellent. Then the food. Those charbroiled oysters. We could actually see the cook at the grill next to the bar cooking then up for us. He even threw down a little French bread on the grill too. And once one table gets those oysters, folks at the other tables can't help but want to order them too. I keep saying, you don't just taste with your mouth, you taste with your eyes, your nose, your ears. And the oysters came to our bartop still sizzling, we had to wait a few painful minutes to indulge. A little lemon and melted cheese on top, just remarkable. Then we split the alligator po boy, and I had to cut that in half myself. But it had plenty of alligator pieces with spicy mayo/remoulade, lettuce, and tomato. Great time, great atmosphere, great food.

Yelp
Creole House Restaurant & Oyster Bar is a spot in the heart of New Orleans, offering a blend of Creole cuisine and seafood. However, our experience was far from what we expected. What We Somewhat Tried: * Crab Cake Pasta: We ordered the crab cake pasta, which featured a creamy sauce with large, flavorful crab cakes. Unfortunately, this dish, was cold when it arrived, and the flavor didn't quite meet expectations. The Issues: This place is a hot mess! Despite the restaurant being completely empty, we were told to wait 20 minutes for a table and were then seated at one of the tables we initially saw open. Once we placed our order, it took forever for the food to come out, and when it did, it was cold! The waitress noticed me touching the food and asked if something was wrong, offering to replace it. We know better than to send food back, so we decided to make do. Unfortunately, the food was not good at all. When we received the bill, there was no discount offered, so I asked for one given everything that transpired. The manager kindly gave us 50% off, but we weren't the only ones having issues. We saw other guests sending back their plates as well. Needless to say, we left hungry because we couldn't enjoy our meal. Overall Thoughts: Creole House Restaurant & Oyster Bar may have the potential to be a great spot, but our experience was far from impressive. The kitchen seemed to be having a bad night, and unfortunately, it affected the quality of the food. The service was decent, but the food was cold and lacked flavor. Based on our experience, I can't recommend this place. It looks like there are better options in the area, so I would suggest exploring other Creole and seafood spots in New Orleans.

Yelp
Delicious food and convenient location for those traveling for work and staying at the hotels in French Quarter. You must try the char grilled oysters. Such a wonderful grill flavor and some Parmesan cheese on delicious oysters. We had the Taste of New Orleans sampler platter so that's we could get some Jambalaya, Jumbo, and Etouffee. We also got a muffuletta. The staff was great and overall experience was fantastic. We didn't have a wait and the place wasn't too crowded but it was a Tuesday in the winter.

Yelp
I felt taken care of by the bartenders since she kept checking in on me during my meal. The restaurant offers a cozy, casual, and lively dinner setting Crab cake: 9/10 they were on the salty side but paired with the tangy aioli and coleslaw was a good combination Taste of New Orleans: 7/10 I'm a sucker for samplers, and since this was my first time in nola, I had to try the must have cuisines. I will say their gumbo and jambalaya are slightly bland and flavorless but the etoufee was amazing

Yelp
I have a bookmark full of places in NOLA but this place was not on my list originally. There was a channel on our tv at the hotel that showcased local businesses and this was one of them. While watching, I went to the Yelp page and saw the great reviews. I was making it a point that I eat at only 4 plus star places this trip because my last trip was a dining disaster every place we went. I cannot recall if we made reservations or not but we did have to wait about 30 minutes to be seated. It was super busy. In the meantime, we decided to go shopping in the neighboring stores. When our name was called, we were led to our table. Unfortunately, it was right by the door. This sucked hardcore. Mostly servers, but patrons as well, were constantly bumping into my chair. Since the door was opening so much, it was so friggin hot and it was really uncomfortable for me. We only saw our server once or twice. We didn't really need attention but still not normal. I know the place was chaotic but the staff did not look happy. We waited some time for everything arrive but it was all delicious. My dish was flavorful and I finished it all! I definitely want to visit here again and maybe request a different table.

Yelp
If you're looking for a quick dining option at Creole House, I highly recommend the bar seating. While table seating tends to have a longer wait, the bar offers immediate access and attentive service right from the start. They even have a convenient mobile charging station at the counter for $5.99 if you're in need. The interior is spacious, spanning two floors, with outdoor seating for smokers, though it can get a bit noisy outside. One of the best features is watching the oysters being freshly shucked behind the bar--definitely a treat for seafood lovers! I ordered the Jambalaya Pasta, which includes shrimp, chicken, smoked sausage, onions, and peppers, tossed in a spicy Creole sauce with fettuccine. I skipped the mushrooms, but the portion size was generous. The dish arrived hot, but the pasta was slightly overcooked, and I was hoping for bolder flavors to really capture that New Orleans flair. Still, it was a solid meal overall. The real star of the show was the caramel bread pudding. I've been on a mission to try bread pudding all over the city, and Creole House's version truly stood out. It was rich, sweet, and the perfect ending to the meal--definitely a highlight! Customer service was great; sitting at the bar made it easy to interact with the staff, and they made sure I was well taken care of. The prices were reasonable for the portion sizes and quality. Plus, the local tram stops right outside the restaurant, making it easy to get to. Jambalaya Pasta: $26.50 Caramel Bread Pudding: $13.50

Yelp
I had an excellent time here! On a recent trip to New Orleans, I had dinner here, it was so good I went back the next day! From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with so much warmth from the staff and the food is amazing! Probably the best shrimp and grits I've had in a long time. If you like to drink, the Hurricanes are a hit! I am looking forward to coming back on my next visit!!!

Yelp
I had such a great experience at Creole House on Canal Street! The food was delicious--especially the red beans and rice, which had so much flavor and felt like a true taste of New Orleans. I also really appreciated how accommodating they were with my shellfish allergy. It can be tough to find good options sometimes, but they had plenty to choose from, and I didn't feel like I was missing out at all. The service was fast and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. The staff was helpful and made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm in town! Highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

Yelp
We ordered food and an appetizer for our children immediately when seated. Kitchen was slow, food was good, took waiter another 35 mins to check on us, when we asked to order he said it he was waiting on us and we weren't ready earlier. He never refilled our drinks. Too few waitstaff employed, and the ones we interacted with need to go to an Etiquette school.

Yelp
We wanted to try the food local to NOLA so we ordered the alligator bites, chargrilled oysters, and the taste of New Orleans: Cajun Chicken & Andouille Jambalaya, Crawfish Etouffée, Red Beans & Rice, and Chicken & Andouille Gumbo bowls. Overall everything was very delicious and we loved trying some new dishes out!

Yelp
This place was right next to our hotel, which we are at for a conference for work. We were tired from traveling and checking in and this was close. Those were its virtues. This is a tourist place. It's not real Creole food and not a real oyster bar, though they have a sign at the bar that says oyster bar. It's not horrible either. It is just not very good. The location was very convenient for us. The space itself is open. The table was clean, but it was a little sticky too. We put our utensils on a napkin and did not let them hit the table. Our server was pleasant and casual, which is kind of expected in this type of place in The Big Easy. He was fine and I tipped him more than I should have. I wanted to try oysters from this area. They have one kind of oyster, which is why it is not an oyster bar. You can get them on the half shell, chargrilled, or with bacon and onions. I wanted to see what the oysters from this area tasted like, so I got them on the half-shell. The oysters were shucked well, served with a very tomato paste forward cocktail sauce, lemon wedges, and pretty good horseradish. I grabbed a bottle of tobacco from another table. The server did not know what kind of oyster it was. It's definitely different from west coast, east coast, or Japanese oysters. They'e not briny. They are subtly creamy. They literally were fine, not great, not terrible, just fine. My wife got the crab cake appetizer, which was cooked well and tasted pretty good. You could tell there was crab meat in them. The cole slaw with the crab cakses was like the rest of the food we had - really underseasoned. My wife said it was very mayonnaisey, which is true. Adding salt and pepper helped a little. But it is just pretty generic. I got the "Taste of New Orleans" sampler, which had Gumbo, Crawfish Etoufee, and Red Beans and Rice. All had a little heat (not a lot by any measure) and were really underseasoned except for salt. Adding tobacco and pepper helped a little. There was no actual meat in any of them. I'm sure there was in the pot. These were clearly cooked for a long time. They were not bad. They were not good. They just were. They were all bland/ and kind of nondescript. I'm sure some tourists feel they are tasting the real New Orleans. I did not. My wife got the jambalaya, which was more like slices of overcooked chicken breast on a bed of dirty rice. The meat was not integrated into the rice and it was very dry. At least the three things I got were not dry, as they were basically stews. When I checked in I could get a free dessert. When we were done, neither of us wanted the dessert. It is not a bad place. It is just not that good. I made reservations at two great restaurants for Friday and Saturday and have much higher expectations for them. This was fine for what it was. I'm not sure what we had was worth $100. But it was fine. We only had to walk 25 yards from the hotel when it was 82 degrees of wet heat at 9:00 p.m.

Yelp
Our visit to Creole House was the perfect way to wrap up our time in New Orleans! On our way to the airport, we decided to stop in for one last meal, and we couldn't have made a better choice. The highlight of our experience was our incredible waitress. She was not only attentive and friendly but also gave spot-on recommendations from the menu. We took her advice, and wow--she wasn't wrong! The food was absolutely phenomenal. Every bite was bursting with flavor, and it turned out to be the best meal we had during our entire stay in New Orleans. The combination of excellent service, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere made our visit unforgettable. Creole House delivered in every way, and it's a place we'll remember fondly when we think about our trip. If you're in New Orleans, don't miss out--this is the kind of experience that truly captures the heart and soul of the city!

Yelp
We stopped by for an appetizer before going to our local favorite. We the pesto shrimp was okay, nothing grand. My order for Bacon garlic oysters ended up being grilled oysters. They were great but not what I ordered.
google avatar

Mar H.

Yelp
Bad service, poor food quality. Did we come on a bad day? It was not crowded so we were seated right away but then we just sat and waited for someone to come over to acknowledge us and take our order. Donovan was our server and he seemed genuinely annoyed. He stared down at us blankly as we were ordering and didn't write anything down. Then stood there for a few more moments just looking at us. We waited and waited for our food. Then, he came back and asked if we already ordered. Excuse me?!?! Calamari - overcooked, hard to chew, no flavor. Red beans and rice - was ok. Grilled oysters - HORRIBLE. Burnt. Fried Fish Po' Boy - stale bread fell apart. No flavor. Everything was cold. The couple next us had the same server. They called the Manager over because they were also waiting on their food and were watching people come and go.

Yelp
Busy! Cute place. Very popular. The bread pudding was amazing. Food very good. This is the Best of New Orleans sampler which I recommend if you're not used to Cajun food. This will help you determine before you commit.
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
The ambiance here was cute and the place was lively inside. Staff was friendly, we adored our server. Food on the other hand was lacking, aside from the French onion soup. The gator was SO salty, it made my mouth hurt. We ordered the sampler that had all the Louisiana staples. The best part from that was the crawfish soup followed by the jambalaya. The rice in the dishes was hard as rocks; I had a graveyard of rice I had spit out . I couldn't eat the things! Staff was kind enough to remove it from the check.
google avatar

Leeann M.

Yelp
This restaurant was located next to our hotel so we stopped in for a quick lunch. Reception area wasn't welcoming but server was friendly and attentive (without hovering). We got the chicken Caesar salad and shrimp and grits to share. The shrimp and grits were just OK. Not bad, but I wouldn't go back and get them again. The salad was very large and they didn't skimp in the chicken. Tasted pretty good, too. But unfortunately as we made our way through it we spotted a long hair. It wasn't ours so we didn't finish the salad. It's OK for a quick meal. Had the salad but had hair probably would've rated a higher star.
google avatar

Carol L.

Yelp
Definitely touristy and on Canal Street near French Quarter - however portion sizes here were HUGE and the shrimp and grits were so delicious! Fun fact, we checked in on yelp and got a free dessert (strawberry shortcake, honestly really good) which felt like the size of a quarter sheet cake?? TLDR not a bad option near Bourbon Street. Bloody Mary pretty decent and strong here too.
google avatar

Lisi M.

Yelp
service 10/10, ambiance 7/10, food 5/10. it just wasn't that good but i enjoyed the experience. and prices weren't crazy. shrimp and grits was just not very good, the crabcakes were mid, the chargrilled oysters were my favorite thing ordered.
google avatar

Maycee P.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience at Creole House! The red beans were absolutely delicious--packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. The corn and crab bisque was also a standout, rich and creamy with the perfect balance of sweet corn and savory crab. The staff were friendly, attentive, and really made the experience special. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to enjoy some amazing Creole cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere!
google avatar

Hector S.

Yelp
Creole House is a decent spot that is not expensive to get some food and drinks before enjoying the activities of the surrounding area. The service is great but it gets packed. The food is decent a depending on what you get. I tried the beans and rice which was okay. You can add grilled or breaded chicken for an extra fee but the dish comes with sausages already.
google avatar

Monica C.

Yelp
Loved this place. If you don't know where to go, you can get a little taste of everything here. Visited during lunch, was pretty busy but we got sat right away and service was very quick and friendly. Definitely somewhere I'll be back to.
google avatar

Dejanae A.

Yelp
Food was good but nothing special. Étouffée was probably our favorite. Jambalaya and gumbo weren't good. Fried foods good but not well seasoned. Service was interesting and place was chill.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
This is my go-to restaurant every time I visit New Orleans. However, I will admit that the grilled oysters can be hit or miss. Sometimes they're incredibly creamy and delicious, while other times it feels like you're just fighting with the shell. I've learned that you need to specifically ask the grill master not to overcook them; otherwise, you might end up disappointed, especially given the price. Regardless, I truly love this restaurant and will keep coming back!
google avatar

Yelp
Hello, now let's talk about good ole Creole House! This spot was highly recommended to me by many. After dining in, I could clearly see why! I was greeted with warm and welcoming customer service and seated promptly. My waitress Treneika was on point! The ambiance is very relaxing yet vibrant at the exact same time. I ordered a lemonade as my beverage and a shrimp po boy as my main course. The lemonade was refreshing with the NOLA heat coming in strong. The po boy had nice and juicy gulf shrimp and fresh toppings of lettuce, tomato, and romulaude sauce. The fresh french bread to hold all those luscious ingredients! I was in absolute paradise! The flavors were bold! The fries were crispy yet firm, and I enjoyed eating them along with the amazing po boy! What a treat! Cheers to good eats!

Yelp
We stopped by for dinner. Got seated quickly. Took a little bit for the waiter to come by but nothing earth shattering. An order of "experience of New Orleans" or something similar was placed and came pretty quickly. Warm, delicious and quick. Their wine list is pretty slim but there are other tasty drinks you can order. Simple place and delicious food that won't break the bank. Try it out.
google avatar

Sabrina G.

Yelp
This was the first place we ate at when we got to New Orleans. We were seated immediately. The service was great. The server gave us some great recommendations to go and party. We order three drinks and they were delicious! Food: Fried gator : 5/5 Grits:5/5 Chicken and sausage gumbo :5/5 This place is a nice size. I would love to go back.
google avatar

Christian D.

Yelp
I ended up coming here multiple times while in a conference and had both lunch and dinner. Coming here with a large group can take a long time. It overwhelms the kitchen, but they work hard to keep the drinks full. Most of the staff were friendly, but there are a few grouches. Overall, the food is pretty good. I had po-boys, to osters, the taste of New Orleans to the pasta. Everything is filling and priced well compared to the rest of the quarter. I will say the Alligator poboy could use some more meat, but the shrimp poboy was the best poboy. The chargrilled oysters are fantastic. All the drinks we had were great, and the summer heat makes you want more, so watch your wallet. This was a really good place to get a bite to eat.
google avatar

Shanelle S.

Yelp
Came here closer to 12 on a Thursday while in town for a conference. I sat at the bar. I ordered gator bites and gumbo. The gator bites were seasoned perfectly and came with a nice creole mustard. The gumbo was good, but I wish it could have been a little more spicy. The bartender, Leo, was great. He made recommendations for when I returned the next time for some of the oysters. The restaurant is semi small and got really cold because of the wind outside. It was a clean space. Between the food and the service I will definitely return.
google avatar

Zoraida B.

Yelp
First time here. Sat on the bar area as I was alone and the place was packed. It was dinner time and I wasn't familiar with the food. The lady waiter was very accommodating and she instantly knew that it's not familiar. As I was glancing through the menu, I saw the gumbo and that's what I ordered. She was very kind enough to explain if I want a cup or one order. She gave me a little sample just to make sure I order the right one. The gumbo was a winner! And so as the fish sticks! The price was reasonable. I even recommended it to the couple that came by and sat next to me. I knew they were new to the place as well. I was pretty thankful that I landed on this place. I hope to go back here if I will get the chance again.
google avatar

Teryl R.

Yelp
Jonelle thank you so much for such an amazing experience at the Creole House. If you want your not so typical po'boy this is it. Flavorful and jammed with shrimp!! The only thing I would have wanted was a little more jalapeños to give me a kick. I sat outside and enjoy the weather because the street wasn't busy. Quite a few people that walked past my table stopped to take a look at the menu.I did step inside and it looked really nice and clean. I will definitely come back here the next I'm in the area.

Yelp
We came here on our 1st night in New Orleans. Saw this place on instagram and immediately wanted to check it out. This place is right in the heart of downtown. It was pretty full but the service was fantastic. Our waitress was phenomenal. The food.... WOW! Everything was great, the charred oysters, the fried gator, the pesto sauce shrimp, the burger and the fries. Everything was delicious. The place is very family oriented, loud, fun, casual and just chill. I really loved the vibe. Prices weren't too bad. Oh and I got a free pecan cobbler a la mode- thanks to Yelp for checking in, and it was AMAZING!! Definitely check this place out!

Yelp
First restaurant I stopped at on my trip and I was a little underwhelmed. Almost too much rice in these bowls and not enough of the good stuff. It was also lacking in flavor and needed hot sauce
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
The gumbo was great. We were in a Gumbo Tour of the city and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the service very much.

Hollie M.

Yelp
Sit at the bat to really soak in the atmosphere and watch the oyster shucking Lee recommended the Ettouffee and Crab Cake and it was delicious The crab cakes have a great crisp outer crust Great value for money!

Yelp
My wife had suggested this place after reading a lot of reviews. After attending the Pelicans/Grizzlies game, we walked down Canal from our Hotel. We walked in and were immediately greeted. We were told that there were only two servers, but plenty of empty tables. The hostess just stood there and did nothing. After 10 minutes she led us to a table, only to tell us that the table was dirty. We went back to the front and again she just stood there. We waited about 10 more minutes and decided that they honestly did not want to serve us. As we were leaving she said, "you can place a to go order." I really should have asked for a manager.

J W.

Yelp
This place stayed open for all of us through a tragedy in New Orleans The Staff was great and positive, also the food was excellent and on point. Thanks For A Great Job All Around JW

Yelp
Sat at the bar for lunch. Bartender was attentive. Took her recommendation and got the Red Fish... lawd it was amazing. It was my favorite dish I ate the entire time in NOLA. Environment was nice and quiet but had sports and music in the background.

Yelp
This was a great place for our breakfast. The service was prompt friendly and ever present. The food was quick, fresh delicious. As for ambiance; the booth was comfy and decor was nicely done. The price is a smidge steep but the quality of the food and service justify it. Highly recommended.

Yelp
First time there. We saw it while walking around Canal Street and were hoping for genuine local cuisine. We got it. First our waitress was awesome. She was friendly and very happy to discuss local food, customs, and culture. My girlfriend wanted to try alligator which they offered in bite sized breaded pieces. It was mild and I couldn't tell the difference between it and chunks of white meat chicken. The French mustard dipping sauce was a little too tangy for our taste, but the side of slaw was tasty. We ordered the jambalaya pasta and Crawfish Étouffée (stew). Both came promptly and hot. Neither of us likes spicy hot food so we were a little worried about our orders. Our waitress assured us spicy meant lots of tasty spices, not spicy hot and she was spot on. The dishes were excellent. Flavorful with lots of sausage, crawfish, shrimp, and pasta. We also had an old fashioned and a white wine sangria that complimented the meal and cooled us after our walk outside. This was the day after hurricane Francine hit NOLA so it was very humid. We ate inside because of the heat. The restaurant is airy and has many tables and a bar area. We plan on returning to the Creole House soon to try other local cuisine snd highly recommend it for everyone.

Yelp
The bartender who took the carryout orders was very rude. I ordered charbroiled oysters and the blackened red fish. I saw her put the oysters in the bag and it was 10 minutes later when the order came. I let her know i needed new oysters. She immediately got an attitude. The manager who advised her to give me a new order. When i get to my hotel room across the street at the Sheraton i see she have me a burnt oyster beyond being edible. When i called to complain I was told to walk back for a single oyster. I have a walking disability. She was may from the beginning. Unacceptable

Yelp
The best service I've had during my visit! I highly recommend visiting and enjoying the amazing food. You can't go wrong coming to the creole house! They will be sure to make you feel welcome and put a smile on your face! Hannah and Jonelle were the best :)

Yelp
This is a cool restaurant located right by Bourbon Street. It was a Sunday night and I was looking for a good place for dinner. Creole House had the highest reviews so we stopped by there. There was a large line outside but we managed to find a spot by the bar. We were able to see the staff preparing the oysters and making all the drinks there. The popular item here seemed to be the oysters. They had staff preparing the oysters nonstop all night. They were very friendly and answered all the questions we had. It was more of a dinner and a show watching them prepare all the seafood. I ordered their in house Hurricane to drink. It had a good amount of alcohol and was not too sweet. To eat I ordered the alligator po boy. I never tried alligator before so this was going to be a first. I was disappointment by only five or six pieces of alligator bites in the sandwich. I thought it would be much more than that for $22.50. However, I went ahead and tried it. It was good. I could finally cross alligator off my bucket list. The staff was friendly closing out the tab. We even got a free dessert thanks to Yelp. I definitely would come here again.

Yelp
A restaurant on Canal Street. Large portions. Our service was fast. Food was good. It's a loud space! We had pesto shrimp-yum! Samples of Creole- jambalaya, beans and rice, gumbo, and étouffée. I had a shrimp po'boy, it was large and delicious! Bread pudding was okay.

Yelp
Greeted after was seated for awhile IDs check upon drink orders. Waiter provided a recommendation of Stuffed Fish. Ordered & meals brought out. Now the alligator appetizer scrumptious juicy & fresh. The Amaretto Whiskey Sour drinks pretty decent Spouse orders Blue Moon brought out no orange. Asked for orange & told no oranges Ordered stuff fish upon waiter recommendation. Honestly too much going on with that meal, nothing popped. Parts of the meal were warm. Mash potatoes appear & taste instant Wait staff never checked on us. Meals & drinks dropped off on top Eventually waiter came around once we were waiting for about 15 mins to ask how we were doing. Shared that the stuffed fish was disappointing. Still paid for meal. Avoid this tourist place

Yelp
Really good food, all the southern expectations, and they charbroil the heck out of some oysters. It feels a bit like a tourist trap since it's on Canal but the food is legit and worth checking out. At the more popular times there's gonna be a wait so plan ahead. And because it draws in tourists, the service and prices are geared towards that crowd. Had the crab cakes, the shrimp and grits and a poboy. Ok so the crab cakes weren't the best admittedly, but the rest was delicious. There are tons of places in the area that serve similar food so you don't have to go out of your way to eat here, but if you can get in without a wait it's worth it.
