Uncle Bobbie’s in Germantown Is More Than Just Dope Books and Great Coffee | Eater Philly

"Hill drew inspiration from Crimson Moon, a Black-owned coffee house on 20th and Sansom that closed after being priced out of downtown nearly 20 years ago." - Dayna Evans

This is my first time here and it is a whole vibe. Thursday Karaoke is fun. My only problem is The DJ has the Karaoke music too loud to where you can’t here yourself. If he adjusted the volume a couple of notches it would be perfect. The system and set up is on point. Overall not a bad spot. Hey Jameson and Ginger in a nice size cup for $10! You can’t beat that. 😂

Dark walls, neon underglow, and bottles stacked like a skyline—Crimson Moon leans into its aesthetic and doesn't apologize for it. The vibe here is unmistakably deliberate: moody lighting, Pride-forward messaging at the bar, and a steady rotation of music videos projected behind the liquor wall. It's not just a bar—it's a statement. Phillip, the bartender on shift, is what sets the place apart. Attentive without hovering, fast without fumbling, and clearly knows his way around a shaker. It’s rare to find someone who can balance drink speed with drink quality, but he pulled it off. I watched him build layered cocktails like it was second nature. Didn't miss a pour. Atmosphere: welcoming, edgy, comfortably loud. Service: elevated by someone who gives a damn. I walked in expecting another dim bar with cheap LEDs. I walked out reminded that when service and space align, it actually feels like a night out. Extremely pleased. Would return.

Pretty chill place with a comfortable atmosphere. Visited in karaoke night and enjoyed myself, drinks were really good as well. Will definitely be back

When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised that we stumbled upon a Christmas drag show! And the cover was only $5. The atmosphere was very welcoming and laid back. The place was decorated for the holiday. Everyone was friendly and happy to give us recommendations for what sights to see in the area.

Came here to support a queer space while in town for work and have never felt more excluded. It felt extremely cliquey; the bartender and DJ were somewhat nice but I felt more comfortable at the straight pub down the road. I stayed for about an hour an a half before I convinced myself I should just leave. Hoped for the best but know if I ever come back to Delaware there isn’t any point to come back here.

I have not been out to a gay club in 5 years, just could not find a decent one close to home without driving 40 min to Philadelphia. This place was so unique in where the building is located. The staff was very friendly and the entertainment was awesome so this is definitely a place I will be visiting again

Went here for the first time on Friday night to celebrate my birthday and had an amazing time. It was a very diverse crowd and I was happy to see a lot of queer women enjoying themselves. The drag show was great and the bartenders upstairs were very friendly and approachable. The first bartender we encountered downstairs not so much. But overall my friends and I had a great time dancing and really just loved the vibe here.

Yelp
The staff is great. Price of drinks is good. Atmosphere is nice. Except I was here last week and I was harassed by a trans chaser. I was completely freaked out. He asked what's in my pants and stuff. Which hurts extra cuz I went thru a painful round of FFS and I'm getting clocked. On top of that he acted like I owe him sex and he's been "waiting" for me. But he was just waiting for any trans woman to walk in. I'm cute tho and I know it. That ain't always good. I felt like no one in there was gonna protect me. There was no guard. So I ran away as soon as he turned around. I was terrified. I'm gonna come back but I'm gonna be on edge for sure. Not sure if I can relax. I can never relax in public. Head on a swivel. I'm exhausted. Can a girl unwind?? Oh and I don't like the owner. He tried to take advantage of me when I came out. I was vulnerable and didn't appreciate it. However that's another matter. I'm willing to overlook that bcuz it's the only spot in Wilmington. Without this place we'd have to go to Philly. But f*** Philly. Dub town all day! We all neighbors here. Rather spend money in my hometown. All that said, please please please protect trans women. We're targets. Please just look out for us. Please see us.

Yelp
I frequented Crimson pre pandemic, and then once businesses were picking back up until the devastating fire. I always LOVED going to this bar for the drag shows, good people, and of course drinks. Amidst this, I have moved over an hour away, BUT continue to go because I love it so much. I went in over the grand reopening weekend, and it felt like home... But with a stunning facelift. Congrats Don & the whole crew that worked so hard to bring us all back! See you all again soon.

Yelp
Nice staff and good drinks. I wish they served food. I do realize on certain nights some of the other patrons (mainly the women) are obnoxious but it hasn't stopped me from going.

Yelp
Crimson Moon is Delaware's hidden treasure. The drinks are always strong and delicious. The bartenders are always courteous and kind. Don (the owner) has created a gay safe haven in the heart of Wilmington, DE. It's the only place where everyone is welcome and free to be themselves. I commend Don for putting on the only consistent and quality drag shows in the area. The music is always loud and the dancefloor ready. If you're looking for a good time or a good show, you've found the right place. Thank you for keeping Crimson Moon open all the years and becoming a community staple. Also, I've read some reviews. You do not get overcharged on your tab. When you open a tab on your credit card and it is swiped, it puts a $15 hold on the card to ensure the transaction can be completed. Once the transaction is completed by your bank, the hold will fall off.

Yelp
Worst gay bar in the world. It's so bad the majority of LGBT people in Wilmington go to straight bars. Ordered a double and the bartender served a single. When confronting the owner and manager they denied it. The manager is never polite to patrons and they keep German Shepard dogs in the prep areas and sometimes let them in the service areas. Go to any straight bar in Wilmington and you will be treated better.

Yelp

Yelp
I went here last night. My tab was $7 dollars. I left a $3 dollar tip. So my total was $10. When I looked at my bank statement there was a $7 dollar charge from them AND a $15 charge. When I tried to call the phone number online was fake. Apparently they have some ki d of scam going where they double charge people. So if you go pay with cash. I will never go back. It's a teal shame we don't have a nice LGBT restaurant/bar in a city this size.

Yelp
O.K. I have to jump on in here. After reading some of the negative reviews here, I was almost afraid to go ! Though we had to be in The State Of Delaware most recently, and decided to try it, and have a nice little stop on the way home. It was certainly fine here. Nice people at the bar, a good jukebox, a nice bartender, and most important of all, a good drink at a fair price. All this made us believe that the negative reviews were from folks who had a vendetta against somebody here, and tried to hurt them on Yelp .

Yelp
Great Bar !! Always had fun there!! Drinks are great and the service is wonderful. "The bad reviews below seem like personals attacks on this bar" Oh well get a life !!

Yelp
A clean, homey little club right off Union Street. My girlfriend and I stopped by for the Thursday night karaoke. Everyone was warm and friendly and made us feel right at home. Despite my not being a frequent bar person, I enjoyed it immensely and will be back.

Yelp
I attended a pageant here tonight for Drag. I am from out of state. I am from Baltimore, MD. The judge that was a woman was drunk. She had to be carried out of the bar. I asked the judges where the judging sheets are. They told me the dj had them. I went to the dj, they told me to go see the owner. I went to the owner. I asked him about the judges sheets. He told me he had nothing to do with it. I let him know the judge was drunk and had to be carried out. The owner was slurring his words. I asked him if he was drunk he flipped out on me in front of patrons. I had customers ask me I have never seen establishment run like this in Baltimore. I will not be coming back.

Yelp
Not so friendly people. Specially the bartender he was old around 37 he was rude, very anti social, cranky, and unsuitable for the job. A guy next to me told me he is serving drinks cuz he is dating the owner. Any way, people working there they were very unprofessional.

Yelp
That bar is the worst one I ever been at. Most of the people are rude. The place is very clicky. If you're new there you don't have a chance.
