Crisp & Juicy

Absolutely incredible every single time. Crisp & Juicy lives up to its name — the rotisserie chicken is perfectly seasoned, fall-off-the-bone tender, and packed with flavor. The skin is crispy in all the right ways, and the meat stays juicy no matter what you order. The sides are just as good — especially the yuca fries and plantains. Everything tastes homemade and fresh. I also have to shout out the green sauce — dangerously good and goes with literally everything on the menu. The staff are always friendly and quick, even when it’s busy. You can tell they care about their food and their customers. Whether you’re grabbing takeout or dining in, it’s consistently a great experience. Easily one of my favorite spots — I’ll keep coming back again and again. Highly recommend! For real this place is really good

I used to love to come here on a weekly basis for the quality of the food and the value. They served good flavor for a reasonable cost. During my last visit on 8/19/25, I was very disappointed. Not only has the cost ballooned. (More than $15 for a quarter chicken breast with two sides and no drink), the chicken was dry, overcooked and the portion was small, barely a mouthful of white meat. The side of fries and plantains made up for the lacking protein, but it was no longer worth the price. I don’t see myself returning as it is no longer a good value for the quality of their offering.

Family platter is great to share between 3/4 people, which is what I’ve gotten when I go! We stumbled on Crispy & Juicy bc it was the only place open nearby, so thought to try it out. It was delicious. Love the sauces (got one of each type, some give the perfect spiciness kick, some mayo based so not spicy for the people that can’t eat spicy). The sides are great too, we got rice and beans, fried plantains, and a salad. Everything was great!!! Highly recc. Chicken was seasoned well and tastes amazing w sides. I’ve also ordered take out and picked it up. 10/10

It was my very first time in this place and I was absolutely amazed by the great customer service Samuel gave! He was so kind and helpful, he helped me pick a variety of options and I was absolutely delighted and satisfied with his service!! Because of him I will come again!

Perfectly cooked chicken. Great sweet potato fries, solid sides and flavorful sauces. One of the better options in Tenleytown for sure. A good mix of healthy and tasty!

This store is located in a very good shopping center. The area is across the street from the red line subway Metro line too. This was my first time eating here for breakfast. The order process is by machine. Although, I wanted my egg sandwich to be fried hard, they already had an egg mixture that they used. I didn't want the cheese or salt added. I'm glad they didn't add cheese to the mixture but there was slightly amount of salt in the mixture. It was a good egg sandwich but i wished they could have fried it instead. Overall, the value for this combo meal, which included coffee and orange juice, was very good.

Chicken is good . Gotta tell them leave it on the grill to get crispy chicken! Rice is good . Don't care for the fries bc they always look burnt and taste dry .

This was incredibly mids. Messed up my order after telling the staff what happened he seemed annoyed and angry to be at the job in the first place. Eventually fixed it but was slow. This is more of a carry out spot I guess but the service was sub par and the food was solid but Kensington is better

I love trying all the different Peruvian chicken places across the dmv and this one was probably the most disappointing one I've had. The positives would be that primavera rice was stellar just a smaller portion than you'd expect from a place like this. The negatives would be, the chicken while standard was a bit saltier than other places. The yuca was a weird gray color and flavorless (I always get yuca at these places and this was the first time it didn't feel fresh or properly cooked). Then there's the sauce. I got, yellow. red(spicy version of yellow) and green (jalepeno). Green was fine, but yellow and red felt....spoiled? Very thin, bland and a really strange aftertaste. I usually split my typical order into two lunches because it's so good I want it for more than one meal, but this is the first time where I not only didn't finish my food, but tossed the rest in the trash. If I hadn't had a 50% coupon from uber, this would have been an even bigger disappointment. Probably won't choose CNJ over more reliable choices like El Pollo Rico or Super Pollo again.

My go to for a quick healthy and delicious meal. I love the electronic ordering in the front of the store. It makes it super convenient. Also the chicken is always seasoned to perfection and awesome.

This place is a running joke in our family. The realastate person I bought our first home was all about Peruvian Chicken. We gave it a try, it was like $50 for a huge platter of food, wanted to celebrate in our now Condo (Mind you this was in 2014 so maybe much better now). There was nothing to write home to Mom about. Would have been more happy throwing some frozen chicken wings in the oven on broil. Nuf Said.

We ordered the family meal- whole chicken, with sides of salad, yucca, and rice and beans. Our favorite thing was the sauce - it was absolutely delicious but not even close to enough for the meal. I'd say we needed double what we were given to have enough. The Caesar salad was decent size, but wasn't anything but cheese, lettuce and dressing. The white meat of the chicken was dry, though the dark meat was good. The rice and beans were ok. The fried yucca was by far the best tasting food we had. Unfortunately, overall we were underwhelmed. Maybe we'll give it another go one day.

I had a chicken sandwich and a coke Paid $14. Worst chicken sandwich I've had. Served on a cheap hamburger bun. I asked for an extra sauce and they looked at me like I was asking for a lot. Don't recommend this place. Not sure why people go here. (Arlington)

Good food and fast service! I went there around 10:30 pm last night and everything was fresh and delicious.

Good fries. Unfortunately I ordered a couple gluten free item that were never delivered. It should have been easy to leave the croutons off. But they didn't pick up the phone when I tried to reach them.

Absolutely delicious juicy amazing chicken! And the mash sweet potatoes were fantastic as well. Highly recommend, this is a great place.

I love Crisp and Juicy. Been coming here since 2015 on a regular basis, but they really need to stop using harsh bleach solutions to mop their floors, especially when customers are eating inside. It makes the whole place smell awful like ammonia.

The food was mediocre and the order was missing items I paid for. When I tried to call the restaurant, staff would not answer the phone so I could not work toward a resolution. 2. The restaurant steers you to use their web ordering platform as providing perks like points and supposedly lower prices, but there is no way to contact them should their be a problem with your order, and messages sent to their online contact email go unacknowledged and unanswered. 3. When you do order from their platform, they included undisclosed fees (in violation of DC Law) 4. As for the food, the yucca wasn't fully cooked. 5. The chicken was just okay, I recommend ordering from El Pollo Sabroso in Columbia Heights--the food is much better. Or Chicken and Whiskey on 14th street.

Love this place so much. The atmosphere is very welcoming with great music and a very clean dining area. And of course the food is authentic and delicious. Come here if you're looking for quality!!!

How can something be both Crisp and Juicy? It's like one of those oxymorons because it can't be both, right? Wrong - check it out dawg - somehow they got it. And it's not burned or soggy?!?! If it was burned or soggy I think peeps would call this place Pissed and Poopy. Or something else that doesn't have to really rhyme with it - I just thought for a second that I could pull it off. But I'm not going to delete it because I'm straight up. I don't lie. I like a lot of food but I hate more food than I like. Peruvian Chicken is pretty good - especially when it is both Crisp and Juicy (and they tell you that when you walk in so you're all ready to judge but they know that you'll probably Rule in their Flavor - see what I did there? That's pretty funny. Maybe I'll start being a Judge and that will be my catch phrase - "Today I rule In Flavor of the Defendant- Crisp and Juicy! Court is Dismissed! I am the honorable Judge Bud. Taste Bud. And my mouth is the most respected Mouth of the South. But by South I mean south of Heaven. Thank you

The food is delicious and never disappoints- make sure to get some of the green sauce!! And the Service is quick and very helpful! :-)

I've been a customer of Crisp and Juicy in Tenleytown since this place first opened, and I won't be returning after today. I placed an order for pickup, and proceeded to the store to get my order. When I entered the store, there was no one near the counter - it looked like the place was abandoned. I was soon greeted by a surly employee who mumbled something completely incomprehensible. I had no idea what he said. I asked, "excuse me?" and he mumbled incomprehensibly again. I have trouble hearing sometimes, but I don't even think that was the issue. He was just mumbling in a surly tone. When asking what he said once again he addressed me in an aggressive, rude way. The guy just seemed like he hated working there and projects his anger onto customers. Reading the other reviews, it seems this guy has a habit of being rude to customers. It's really a shame. This establishment should look into hiring more friendly, accommodating staff. I've worked in the customer service area in the past for 5+ years, and this level of disrespect and bitterness towards customers would never be tolerated. These types of employees leave a bad taste in the mouth of their customers. Many establishments don't realize it, but one bad customer service experience is enough to lose a loyal customer for life - as is now the case with me. I certainly won't be spending money here again as there are a number of food options in the area that preferable in terms of quality, taste, price, and customer service. If you want some Peruvian chicken without the extra, unnecessary spice from customer service, I'd recommend the famous chain, which is located just a couple of blocks down the same street.

Typically we receive excellent tasting and moist chicken. On occasion we have gotten one that is too dry, but not enough times to stop ordering from there. Service is pretty fast. We haven't eaten inside so can't really speak to the ambiance.

I ordered the $30 family platter which had two whole chickens and two large sides. They gave the two tiny white sauces for it ( their like little teaspoons.) For me the white sauce makes the meal. The next day I was driving in the area so I swung by and politely asked them to give more, and no longer skimp their customers. They proceeded to charged me 50 cents for every new one they gave me. I ended up having to buy five white sauces for my leftovers. Others have complained about this.

Definitely a great meal to get the chicken platter with sweet plantains and rice/beans. Came after a workout and got filled up with a nice savory and sweet portion. Definitely a solid option if you're looking to switch it up.

The best of the best! When you want Peruvian chicken this is the spot to go. Best in DC

Unsuspecting goodness! I was quite surprised as to how GOOD and flavorful the food was at this little shop tucked away near American Uni. The chicken was really fresh and flavorful throughout, not just the skin. The Yucca was the best - I don't know where else I could find authentic yucca like this besides East Africa! Out of all the sauces, I enjoyed the pink sauce the most. Service was great, prices are reasonable, and there wasn't really a wait. Parking is street only, make sure to fill those meters! definitely recommend and I would come back!

Soggy frenchy fries, soggy skin on whole chicken with way too much salt, soggy yucca fries, "Managers Special" wasn't so special. The sauces were only ok, had a mass-produced taste, not much flavor, again lots of salt. The Arrow Chaufa (fried rice) was good. The wait staff were nice, efficient. Disappointing, I won't go back.

Small place but extremely flavorful chicken and good portions. Had the fried rice, white rice and black beans and of course their chicken by itself. Great seasoning and not overly greasy. Reasonable price for all of it. Great place for a good, cheap meal

This is my 2nd time having an issue with a lady cashier at the Wisconsin Avenue location she pretty much rushed me to order and  i had a special to order and she declined it and said  If I can't hurry up and decide you can go somewhere else. I called and talked to a manager about it but I don't think they ever talked to her about the situation so I'm writing by email because this needs to be addressed ASAP.  Hope from hearing from by email or a phone call thank you.  Incident took place Friday 7/25/20 445 pm

DO NOT EAT HERE. I paid $13.15 for a chicken platter and received ONE piece of chicken - a thigh. I kid you not. I downloaded yelp app just to make this review. Sure the thigh was good but for that money I expected a lot more than just one lousy piece of chicken. It's called a chicken PLATTER. Total rip off. Spend your money elsewhere. ZERO STARS

Before I went here, I wondered, how good can the chicken there be? Isn't there some sort of upper limit on chicken tastiness? Apparently not. My family calls this restaurant "Peruvian Chicken", so on top of side dishes like fried plantains (scrumptious!), I was expecting a highly-spiced and spicy chicken. What I found was much closer to the sublime: the seasoning on the chicken simply enhances what makes it, for lack of a better term, chicken-y, without making a spectacle of itself. The highest praise I can give is that it's about the chicken, not the spices. On the other side of things, the Caesar salad dressing was truly dreadful (tasted like powdered Parmesan mixed with sadness), and if you order additional items like flan, make sure to check your bag for it, as it was forgotten this time and on a high proportion of times my family have ordered there in the past. The staff is friendly and efficient, and I was pleased to see that despite almost every customer ordering their food to go, everyone standing around was engaging in conversation with other customers, not merely those in their party. Bottom line: if you love chicken, please go here. If you like delicious speciality items like fried plantains and flan, go here.

Amazing casual Peruvian chicken place with probably the best sandwiches in Tenleytown. I can't recommend their Latino Chicken sandwich enough, especially with yuca fries on the side. Their sauces, whether on their sandwiches or used for dipping, add an incredible kick.

I have been here several times over the last 2 years and love it as much as I love the Falls Church location. I have been eating Crisp and Juicy since moving to the DMV area over 20 years ago. I have tried it at several other places but Crisp and Juicy are the only one I will continue to go to. The food from this location is always hot and fresh, I have never had an issue with an order, as a matter of fact I have gotten extra food before. The chicken is always great, great tasting, and the sauces are amazing, I always make sure to get a medium yellow sauce on the side because it's so good with so many things. You can't go wrong here, excellent food and great employees. I will keep going back.

The best chicken in DC. It really is crisp and juicy. Look for sweet potato fries under specials and don't forget the dipping sauces.

Great hole in the wall. The sign doesn't make it look too special but the chicken is amazingly flavorful here!!! The sides are also not bad either. I got the plantains and coleslaw, both tasted great and fresh. HIGHLY recommend the chicken...I still can't stop thinking about it. It's good for a quick lunch, chill catch up, drunchies. A typical style fast casual place but it makes you realize Peruvian cuisine is really awesome.

I finally tried this spot tonight. I had a Groupon to use and I must say the food was amazing. I got the 1/4 chicken with 2 sides. The French fries and fried plantains were so tasty! I would recommend coming here for a delicious dinner. The customer service was nice as well. This location also has a few tables so you can done in as well. Here is a photo of my meal.

Lady at the counter really rude and don't understand anything. Don't go there, they not helpful and food is microwaved.

Amazingly scrumptious chicken!! The plantains were sensational and one of the best I've ever had!! 10 out of 10! I love this place to hang out with friends and even family. I hope crisp and juicy opens up more locations and I love how welcoming the workers are.
