Oregon’s First Bonchon, a Korean Fried Chicken Chain, Has Opened in Happy Valley | Eater Portland

"I learned that Crisp, the Sweetgreen-style salad bar spot from Williams, has opened a second location on SE Division at 2045 SE Division, sticking to takeout and delivery with a menu of salads, bowls, and soups." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Google
Great salads and a nice variety of them. Fresh and tasty. Fast and friendly service. I had the very berry salad with chicken (it’s seasonal). It was delicious. Prices aren’t bad. Parking is limited.

Sarah P.

Google
I love Crisp salads. Who doesn’t love a cut up salad that’s perfect in every bite?! You can customize your salad or do any on the menu. My favorite is the Crispy Chicken Salad.

Jordan S.

Google
Great restaurant. Many different options and customizations so you can get exactly what you want. Prices are fair for the quality of ingredients. Staff is super friendly and helpful in guiding you through the menu. Parking can be tricky.

Google
Awesome, healthy, fresh and fast! I got my salads delivered thru the website via “Toast”. Great communication and it even came early which was nice. I highly enjoyed my meal and was very full. Great value for the price. I will order again soon! Another bonus is this company is locally owned by a woman.

Serena M.

Google
The server was sweet, and the food was delicious! I had the crispy chicken, my cousin ate Greek to me. They could have the store put together a little better, but the atmosphere was still chill. I'll go back!

Jamie J.

Google
I went for the lil baby bowl, which was super affordable. Just some cold cooked chicken, raw broccoli, and chopped apple in lemon juice. I did wish the broccoli had been cooked instead. The portions were on the big side; I had enough to eat & then some!

Ken M.

Google
Since when did a Cobb salad not include avocados? I have this sense of being gas-lamped. It is like lemonade without lemons. I have been ordering from Crisp for awhile, just curious when this decision was made.

Google
Submitted a pick-up Order for 2- San Pancho salads 1/21/2024 extra dressing and a 1-Thai curry soup. When I got home the salad had NO tortilla chips which is said to come in this particular salad, I wasn’t informed that they were out or offered a substitution (best part of the salad), in addition the Thai curry soup had a piece of plastic that honestly at first glance looked like someone’s finger nail. Certainly Not happy with this experience due to the quality control/presentation & and the missing tortilla chips.

Yelp
Food is awesome and fresh! Service was prompt and friendly. They explained how the salads worked! Ambiance was clean and chill. I ate my whole salad before I could get a pic!

Yelp
Great place to build your own salad and plenty of options for vegans! Most of their salad dressings, except for one, are vegan, so you have a lot to choose from. I will definitely be returning to this place for it when a craving for a salad hits.

Yelp
We ordered two Cobb salads for delivery on postmates ($56 total) and the salads arrived with wilted, slimy lettuce and not very many toppings. I cannot believe they charge $18 for this salad. I definitely would not eat here again.

Yelp
Great salads and hot bowls! I had the Greek salad and a few others I was with ordered salad wraps and a hot bowl. The hot bowl looked tasty: a lady I was with "made her own" with brown rice, vegetables and then she added the Thai soup on it. She said it was delicious. I recommend getting at least a protein with the salad as it is was not very filling. Very kind staff. It took 10 minutes to receive all 5 orders, so the service was fast.

Yelp
My friend ordered for us and we ate at work, but it was really good. I had a bbq bonanza and enjoyed it. I thought the dressing was good and I was happy it came on the side so I could adjust the amount. The salad was quite filling and was pretty good for leftovers if i hadn't eaten it all.

Heather S.

Yelp
Good news! Crisp now delivers to my area in Milwaukie straight thru the website via a service called Toast. It was easy to order, and they gave great communication throughout the process. My order even came early. The salad was amazing as usual very fresh and a great value for the price and portions. I am excited to be able to enjoy Crisp Salads from the comfort of my own home. :) I built my own salad, and my husband had the Cobbtastic.

Yelp
Delicious salads with quality ingredients. Great vegan & gluten free options. Service is fast, everyone working here is friendly. The NoPo Salad is my favorite, it's got the right combination of creaminess - cheese, nuttiness - hazelnuts, sweetness - Marion berry dressing & saltiness- smoked salmon.

Yelp
I LOVE salad so I was happy to find a salad place. I ordered the San Pancho salad with tempeh, which is a southwest flavor with tortilla chips, beans, peppers and avocado. There were a lot of options on the menu including build your own salad and a few soups and a dine in or take out options. The salad was fresh and delicious, but expensive for the portion sizes. Still a great place for a salad!
google avatar

Eric M.

Yelp
Update: Salad portions are legit again. I do love the crispy chicken salad! Nice place to have in the hood when you want a quick healthy lunch!

A G.

Yelp
We arrived 15 mins prior to closing. The girl at the counter had emptied the soups into plastic containers so had turned cold. She should have told us that the warm bowls would be cold, instead just served us 2 cold bowls! Dry cold bowls was not my idea of a dinner on a cold Saturday night

Yelp
Crisp's salads are ... fine. Decent enough ingredients and decent variety. However: even though the store announces "salad is a meal," these salads are nowhere near large or hearty enough to be a meal. They are stingy with the extras. And if you order takeout, be prepared for at least two things to be wrong with the order. I have never had a takeout/delivery that didn't have at least two sizable mistakes. And there's no real way to report it and much less to get it fixed.
google avatar

Shawntiara D.

Yelp
Nice + cozy spot for a quick salad! The staff was decent, didn't seem to have the most welcoming spirit. They didn't roll my wrap properly. However, two of the staff members gave us a sample of the pico and told us a recommendation. It's a great spot. Would come back again.
google avatar

Emily N.

Yelp
Yummy yummy. Not a huge salad person my self. This bowl that they offer was perfect for me. So yummy and filling! Would get it again!

Joe A.

Yelp
$20 for a salad wrap is insane. Couldn't taste the dressing or toppings. Could only taste raw tortilla. Truly one of the most disappointing meals of my life. On paper, this place isn't THAT different from Garden Monsters. In practice though, the experience couldn't be more different. Friendly, if distracted/confused service.
google avatar

Almonzo R.

Yelp
For a $25 salad, one would think at least the order would be correct. It seems the add-ons I paid for were in short supply and they completely forgot the chicken. Even with the chicken, the salad would not have been worth the $25. Great concept. Poor execution.
google avatar

Jesse C.

Yelp
I love Crisp! The salads are huge and very filling. They offer a build your own salad option. I like to customize my salads, and they have a lot of different options/add ons to choose from. My favorite salad dressing is the Chipotle Cream, I seriously cannot get enough of it.
google avatar

Morgan A.

Yelp
One of the best salads I have ever eaten. Absolutely outstanding. People may laugh at the thought of a salad being great but let me tell you; when you get something as good as this, it just hits the spot. Fabulous chicken, great fresh veggies, and wonderful harvest ranch that is just a little runny but it's perfect to coat your greens without that gross wet feeling or the overly thick buttermilk issue. Thank you so much!!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were so stoked to find this place. We are visiting from CA and had been scouring the earth for hours (actually) for a good salad. The service was excellent, we had lots of great options and the ingredients were fresh and high-quality. The shop is cute and clean. We will definitely come again during our next visit to Portland.
google avatar

Elle W.

Yelp
I have enjoyed the salads in the past. Today the salad was not tasty. If I had to recommend based on today's recommendation, I would give a thumbs down. Nothing special.
google avatar

Carol C.

Yelp
Great salads, with both on-the-menu and make-your-own options. Good side soups as well.

Please Don't B.

Yelp
the staff were amazing and helped with all my dietary accommodations, But the lettuce tasted old and not washed, the salad came out soggy (I asked for dressing on the side). ITS FAR TOO EXPENSIVE FOR THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD. and the avocado was sour, the bacon was burnt, and the flavor took over.
google avatar

Julia S.

Yelp
Updating to once again rave about this place. Especially enjoyed my salad yesterday- they don't skimp on the toppings!
google avatar

Ploy N.

Yelp
Happy with the Crispy Chicken Salad that I got. Heaps of mixed greens, well-tossed in Honey Mustard Dressing. Lovely toppings like apples and candied walnuts but could definitely use more of them.

J L.

Yelp
My bowl was $15. That tiny piece of chicken you see in the photo? That was $4 to add and I can count on two hands the number of pieces that are in my salad. And yes, the pieces are all that small. The toppings in general are so few it's sad. There truly is no point in going here to get a salad when you can go to Trader Joe's and get a comparable one for around $5. Or even chipotle and get their salad for like $9 and you'll actually get your moneys worth. I essentially paid $15 for a bowl of spring mix. Which hey, I get I ordered a salad, but for you guys to skimp out this much when it comes to the free toppings as well as the chicken that you're charging an additional$4 for, I feel like I was conned. First and last time I'm going here.

Yelp
Came in here a couple weeks ago and some baddie had her cheeks hanging out of a skirt, I'm still stoked about this two whole weeks later. It honestly turned my whole day around, I was in the trenches. Next time I'm thinking about throwing myself under the many wheels of the FX2 bus that runs on Division I'm just gonna walk in here for a salad. It's better than therapy, trust me I've tried.
google avatar

Tiana V.

Yelp
Love there salads, especially when I'm in a rush. A little pricey, but I had to split my bowl in half.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
The NOPO, best salad ever! It's got smoked salmon, arugula, and hazle nuts with a berry dressing. Yes!!!
google avatar

Wendy S.

Yelp
Great place to get a variety of fresh salads. Either make your own or pick one of their pre-designed. Easy to also order ahead. Challenging to park at the one on williams but easy for the one on Division.
google avatar

Alyssa B.

Yelp
OBSESSED with their basil lovers dressing. I probably have it 3 times a week. Try adding pumpkin seeds and apples and cranberries to your salad with this dressing
google avatar

Katie K.

Yelp
LOVE Crisp! I always go for the build your own salad. They have awesome options and I get to live out my salad dreams, without buying a household worth of produce for a mix only I will really enjoy. They also do wraps and omg brazi bites- the perfect side. Get them. Get lots of them, lol. Originally found Crisp via Postmates but pro tip: they actually do delivery themselves too, I recommend ordering directly with them if you can!
google avatar

Shelby D.

Yelp
Really good portion salad for price, and I love that getting extra dressing or same-cost substitutions are no charge. Inside seating isn't currently offered, but pickup is a breeze. When I walked in, the staff had informed me that they made a mistake on my order, and were promptly fixing it. Thank you for being diligent and double checking before I got the wrong order, and being honest. I had the Crispy Chicken salad and loved it - this salad was a nice lunch to keep healthy during the heat wave.

Yelp
Terrible. My wife and I ordered the crispy chicken salad for lunch last week. Let's break down each of those words for sake of this review: - CRISPY: The lettuce was not crispy, in fact it looked and tasted old, wilted and sad. Maybe the chicken was better? - CHICKEN: It was not better. It was the opposite of crispy. It was also so ice cold and tasteless that we actually looked up to see if it was one of those vegan chicken substitutes/imposters. Nope, this was actual chicken. And it was unforgivable. - SALAD: Legally this did qualify as salad so we will give it that. A tasteless salad, but salad nonetheless. Overall I would not recommend. And no, I'm not a bitter Yelp goblin, many of my reviews are positive. I've just never been burnt by a salad like this before, especially a salad that is so unreasonably cold. "Crisp?" More like "Nah."
google avatar

Tamara G.

Yelp
I can't believe I just spent $16 ($19, including tip) on the worst salad ever. I ordered the paleo plus two add-ons, there were two TINY half-inch pieces of "seared chicken" , about three sliced olives, a few slices of avocado and the rest was literally 99% kale. I won't make the mistake of ordering that one again.
google avatar

Cassandra C.

Yelp
We LOVE crisp! It's like, a fancy treat, but it's also good for you. They deliver to us all the way out at i205!

Kandice W.

Yelp
The employees are nice. But I come in at least twice a week to get the same salad and every time the price is different. I also mention it every time and they just say sorry. I'm tired of paying more than what the cost of the salad is.
google avatar

Bryan B.

Yelp
They must employee little magic salad fairies. It's delicious. BYO is the best, but $$$. So good and an easy 2 meals.

Buddy Bee A.

Yelp
We greatly enjoy their salads. They are tasty, generous and fresh. The only issue that is keeping me from a five star rating is I feel short shrifted, and oddly disrespected when we get up to the counter to conclude our transactions. Apparently, Crisp offers a rewards program where you can put your email and get swag when you purchase enough product. We signed up for those perks. The issue is when I am checking out, the gal clears out the whole thing before I get a chance to complete this process to add our swag points. It doesn't appear accidental. Sort of passive/aggressive actually. Like, oops, you weren't fast enough to get your bonus points. This has happened at least three times. I don't want to feel like I am a bother, having just supported the coffers and left a nice tip, Yet, I feel like a bothersome invasive species. True, we are old, in our mid- sixties. Certainly more seasoned than the younger people who bounce in and out of there. I am not a computer programmer so, it takes me a moment or two to enter our information to get this what has turned into an imaginary credit. I don't know if we have any credits accrued. It isn't a deal breaker, but, it feels unfriendly. I don't even know anymore if our email is still in their system. I get zeroed out, erased, before any of that gets entered. I feel rushed. I feel this is counter to the way we are dealt with when we order. Maybe it's us. Maybe we ticked someone off and aren't aware of our faux pas. i don't know what to think. Perhaps we are considered by the fresh faced, and eager twenty somethings employed there to be too feeble to be deserving of dining on fresh salad and they would prefer we don't patronize their establishment.

Yelp
I wanted to like Crisp Salads but unfortunately my food and experience was disappointing. My salad was drenched in dressing and it felt like something I could make at home - nothing special. The company also uses a lot of thick plastic for their to go containers which feels so outdated and out of touch, especially for environment friendly Portland.

Anne S.

Yelp
Great salads! Always fresh!! Love all the toppings. Wonderful dressings. And always fast!
google avatar

Addy H.

Yelp
I go here at least once a week, it's one of the only heathy, fresh, plant based restaurants in this part of town! Salads are HUGE and I always feel great after eating them.

Kristen P.

Yelp
Such a good, filling, and fresh salad! Tastes good and is just what I needed. Got it delivered to my home so can't speak on how covid friendly the place is :)
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Ordered the crispy chicken salad with some add-ons via delivery app and it was huge. The dressing was great. I think this place is great looking forward to trying again.

Morey B.

Yelp
such a rip off. I did a build your own salad with chicken. when I checked out they charged $3 extra dollars for a very small serving of chicken. there were no signs indicating chicken was an extra cost and the employee didn't mention it was extra when I asked for it. hidden costs at a salad bar is just ridiculous.

Monique M.

Yelp
it was my first time ther so I was excited but one of the works was wearing a very tiny skirt and her whole ass was out lol I'm sure this is appealing to some but I found it really uncomfortable I could see her thong

Robert G.

Yelp
I walked in and they turned me away (new rules) I have been a reliable customer Seems there must be a phone involved in placing the order and I do not have one. What a crappy business model for struggling times as these. They were slow and could use some loyalty but have an idea that turning people away is a good idea.

Mary Hartman M.

Yelp
The salad itself was good. I miss being able to use my own container (and lost 10 bucks on that on the last iteration of this place). If they had a compostable container, I'd return, but we've made a pact not to do take out with plastic or the like.
