Critters Burger

I ordered the seasonal Maitake Burger and Fries, coming out to 1925¥ with tax. A bit on the pricey side, but fitting for a restaurant right in the Shimbashi area. At first bite, I fell in love with the perfectly soft and toasted buns, the melty cheese, and crisp, flavorful toppings. The meat was salty and tasty, but it leaned a bit too heavily on the pepper. I will be back to try their wagyu offering next time!

Excellent hamburger. The wagyu beef was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, served on a soft house-made bun with generous, well-balanced toppings. The fries were thick, wedge-cut, and perfectly crisp. The homemade ginger ale was amazing—spicy, refreshing, and not too sweet. The chocolate shake was rich and delicious. Honestly, this was a top-three burger, fries, and shake experience for me. They do it better than most American burger spots. The staff were attentive, friendly, and clearly take pride in what they serve. If you’re craving a proper burger in Osaka, this is the place.

Tonight we had the best wagyu cheeseburger ever! The combination of the fresh ingredients, meat, sauce and bun was unexpected. Great service and ambiance. Will always remember this meal! Hope to come back in the future during our Osaka vacations.

Fresh ingredients and delicious Burger. The bun was also self made and had a great taste. We had the Chili Cheese Burger and the Avo Bacon Cheese Burger which Both were delicious. Only the patty could be more juicy / Medium instead of well done. The homemade ginger ale was also very good.

Knew this place would be good, but didn't expect it to be the best burger I've ever eaten! I had the pineapple cheese burger set, extra onion rings, and orange juice. I can tell every part of the burger has been carefully thought about, and stuff like having the pineapple grilled, makes it so tasty. I didn't want to finish it!

Had a great experience at Critters burgers tonight. Such a cozy restaurant, I was very surprised it wasn’t busier! Amazing food, great price and great service. Highly recommend, as we were walking around America-Mura we walked past Critters Pizza! Didn’t even know that was a thing so we will definitely be trying them out next.

I had the most delicious hamburger I've ever had here. The burgers are truly delicious and fresh. The soft bun, well-cooked patty, and perfectly balanced sauces were excellent. The place is clean, the staff is friendly, and the orders arrive quickly. It also offers great value for the price. I definitely recommend it.

A no frills burger joint that focuses on great food vith a hip western vibe. Each ingredient from the crisp fluffy brioche bun generouspy speckled with sesame seeds, the sweet tomato slices, andhomemade pickle relish are crafted from the finest of ingredients. They are all brought together with a juicy beef patty well seasoned and elevated by the freshly cracked pepper which differentiates this burger from most others. Best burger I've had is not in the US . . . Its in Japan

In Japan with friends and a wagyu burger just sounded good, so we came here for lunch. Pros- very friendly service, deliciously juicy burgers, and thick tasty shakes (our group had chocolate, strawberry, and banana shakes). Cons- it's super small, so if you have a big party, it may take a while to grab seating. Although, we had a total of 6 and were seated sooner than I was expecting! The amount of fries was kinda small. If you like a lot of fries, you'll want to add a side of them! Otherwise everyone in our group enjoyed what they ordered (4 wagyu, 2 regular). Mine had avocado, and they gave a generous amount! We would all come back... overall rating is actually a 4.5, due to amount of fries, 3 in our group made a lot of comments about that. I actually thought the amount was fine, but I like the smaller portions!

Was craving a burger and this place was good. I got a bacon avocado cheese burger and will say I was disappointed the bacon wasn't crispy, but I guess that's how Japan likes to make their bacon. Nice and juicy patty, the raw onions were so fresh and were just perfect. Bread was my kind of bun. However, it's a very clean burger if that matters to you. Not too greasy as all. Good burger overall. However I beg you to please order the chicken nuggets !!! They're amazing ! Juicy, crispy, PLUMP! Everything that I'm looking for in a chicken nugget was here. Service was excellent. You pay at the register when you're done with your meal.

If you've been in Osaka eating exotic Japanese food for several weeks and you're missing the USA make your way to Critters Burger. This is a hip little burger bistro and they do a great job. My Japanese hosts have been so generous and thoughtful taking me to dinner and bringing in lunch for the entire month this is my last day and I invited them to this place that they have never been to. This place is dive burger bar inside. The servers are cool and very helpful. This place has a few American beers and A&W root beer. It's tiny so come alone or with a few people. There's less that 20 seats in the place. The burger is fantastic. We all went with the wagyu burger and well... look at my pics. What a great burger.

As an American who's tried 1,000's of burgers, hands down this is the best burger! Fresh ingredients, the staff were superb and very friendly. We happened upon this place by accident, as it was close to our hotel. Unbeknownst to us, they have won best burger 5 out of the last 7years. Judges must have felt sorry for other restaurants the other 2 years.

Highly recommend if you need a break from the local cuisine. The burgers were very good and the staff was very helpful and chill. Pretty cool place for a burger and a beer.

Amazing food, amazing service, and great ambiance. I gave a huge tip last time I ate here because it was just that good! So delicious, i dont usually tip much but i couldn't believe how great it was here. This might sound like a bot review but i promise its not, it was genuinely amazing i dont even use yelp i just think this place deserves it. FIVE THOUSAND STARS!

Good hearty gourmet burgers for a decent price! Had a try of their chocolate banana smoothie! Super good! Their menu is in English and japanese so and it's very straightforward. There were many foreigners who came in during our meal there which was interesting. Makes sense since it's a burger place and there aren't too many around.

Oh man, this place really hit the spot. These gourmet burgers were better than most I've had back home in the US. The brioche bun was perfect. I normally prefer fries over potato wedges but these were so good. I appreciated the little wax paper sleeve served with every burger so you could eat it with your hands without getting greasy fingers (such a thoughtful, Japanese touch!) and the overall vibe of this small-ish restaurant. Highly recommend! P.S. watch your step when you enter the restaurant. I nearly fell on my face in front of everyone!

Since Osaka is known as "Japan's Kitchen", I felt a little guilty about going to a burger restaurant during our short stay in the city - but Critters Burger came so highly rated (... and we'd had about a week's worth of Japanese food) so we decided to give it a try. Critters Burger typically has a really long wait, so be prepared for that; we got to lunch relatively late (around 1pm-1:30pm) and there was still about a 40-minute wait before we were sat inside. The line forms directly outside (single file) and when you're closer to the front, a server comes out to the line and takes your order so that when you're sat down, it's pretty swift to getting your food. My friend chose the bacon cheeseburger + their homemade gingerade whilst I chose a cheeseburger with avocado. Obviously, since it's an American-inspired restaurant, the interior (in terms of design) is very reminiscent of a hip burger joint from the likes of Portland or Seattle. When we sat down, our food came relatively quick (but not too quick) and the burgers were absolutely delicious. I'm a HUGE burger fan (and very picky about a good burger) and these burgers seriously held a candle to my favorite burger place back home in Los Angeles. They were cooked deliciously with fantastically-seared meat, cheese and avocado. The milkshakes (although we didn't get one) also looked delicious from the other tables we saw enjoying them. Although it's a long wait, I highly recommend Critters Burger; they just might be the best burgers in all of Japan.

Critters is an American themed burger restaurant as opposed to some chains in Japan that try and put a Japanese twist on their menu. That being said, I opted for their wagyu burger which is 1600 yen, but added avocados (200 yen), pineapple (100 yen), and cheese (100 yen). My friend ordered their truffle fries which came at 500 yen. The fries came out first after a bit of wait but were piping hot and delicious. After another bit of wait, the server brought out my towering burger that came with a side of salad -- you're given the option of either fries or a salad, and really, at this point, you might as well go for the whole panache and get the fries... but I digress. Upon first bite, I registered immediately that the tomatoes were incredibly sweet and juicy. Incredible. During the second bite I actually made contact with the wagyu patty and I have to say, it would go great with a beer considering how salty it is. Unfortunately, I am not a beer kind of person, so I couldn't appreciate it to its fullest. If you're the same as me, I would recommend ordering a topping of pineapples as well since it's sweetness mitigated its saltiness to a certain extent. Would I go again? No, despite it being absolutely amazing. Every bite was heaven, I swear I couldn't even hear my friend talking the entire time eating it. It didn't leave me feeling too gross or lethargic after finishing it off which was unexpectedly pleasant, but for someone of my smaller stature, a massive burger like that was something meant to be enjoyed once or in extreme moderation. But hey, if you have an appetite, absolutely go for it, as many times as you want.

Being a big green egg guy, I'm used to the BBQ flavor. These are gourmet burgers, but great ones. The cocktails are very cheap and she had a heavy hand. It might look insane to have a burger in Osaka, Japan. And I never expected to have done this, but after nearly two weeks Japan, we all just craved a great burger. We all loved it. Ready to explore!

Had a total craving for a nice big burger and fries, having been away from Canada for two weeks made my heart grow fonder of the sometimes stupidly unhealthy culture around fast food/burger joints. Regardless, I needed to suppress that craving. Critter Burger definitely did that. I am a vegetarian, which can make things complicated in regards to eating and ordering at most establishments, but thankfully this spot had a veggie option for me. It was quite tasty and came with homemade style potato wedges and a nice light, leafy salad topped with a vinaigrette. My only issue is that the veggie burger didn't have a patty, it was just avocado and onion to replace the beef patty.

It was very simple but the burgers and the milkshakes are sooo delicious. There are also pancakes that seem also good. The staff is very kind and the atmosphere is really warm. I recommend it !

I hate how much this place ISN'T LOCATED IN THE USA. We need a burger joint like this one. Do yourself a favor and eat here every single day you're in Osaka! Ps: they have American breakfast too, we're trying it tomorrow!

Very good burger! I plan to return and try other burgers as well as many other good looking items like buffalo wings and nachos!

After two weeks in Japan, I craved a burger. This hit the spot. Mind the queue, though.

Delicious burgers! I had the avocado burger and my boyfriend had a double hamburger. The fried chicken was some of the best I've had and I'm from the south in the US. Meal was on great and we would definitely come again. Also check out The Pie Shop next door!

I've been here a few times over the past couple of years. I've never lived in Osaka, but I try to come here when I'm in town. They have some of the best burgers I've had in Japan. Definitely recommend, although it is a little pricy.

Well worth the wait outside to get in. We had the veggie burger (comes with avocado and sautéed onion) with cheese and a fried egg inside. It was excellent. Both the service and atmosphere were great.

Critters Burger is currently best-of-the-bunch for burger joints in Osaka. I enjoy a chili-cheese burger there whenever I can. The onion rings are good as well. Watch out for the step up, just inside the front door, though! I see half a dozen people trip on it every time I visit.

I've been coming to Critters Burger ever since I moved to the area three years ago, and I have to say: This is one of the best burger places (if not THE best burger place) I've found in Japan. As the review in Japanese points out, it is indeed expensive. However... It's Osaka, and Ame-Mura... What did you expect? The price is in line with other food options of this caliber in the area. For the high price, you get a big burger (by Japan's standards) and some fries; not bad! The burger menu is expansive, ranging from classic ham and cheeseburgers on up to the usual range of "gourmet" burgers (blue cheese and mushroom, BBQ, etc.) and even some really unique options. They even have a monthly special! Drinks are similarly expensive, but also similarly plentiful. The restaurant has an *ok* selection of beers, and a few gems (like rootbeer floats!). I can't speak much to the menu beyond drinks and burgers... But I will say that the few times I've ventured into the appetizers I've been disappointed. Probably best to stick to the burgers.

My husband and I got the avocado burger. Best burger we've ever eaten. So good. And the atmosphere is chill and laid back. Love it here!

mmmmmm critters! really soft warm brioche buns, my first time in Osaka but I don't think I will find a better burger joint! They've got an American bar kinda vibe and also do other American dishes like chilli cheese fries, buffalo wings. The staff are nice and really chilled and the menu is both english and japanese. Highly recommend this place for a very filling and super satisfying burger
