All I'm gonna say...this place is highly addictive and I'm especially grateful they are open till super late in the evening to meet my ice cream cravings. I walk here with my pup, head inside and relax on the benches to devour their delicious ice cream before it melts down my arms. My favorite flavors thus far are coffee, Marshmallow chocolate and chocolate chip mint. The toppings complete the masterpiece 🙌 Cures my sumnertime sadness Depression --- just kidding 😂 I love summer and I love CRMD

This place was okay. I got the Nilla Cookie Dough and Fruity Bites; both had a cool color but were sort of bland. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Tip: If you’re going to get something, get a small because the ice cream is dense. Overall 6/10

I had been patiently waiting all summer for this ice cream shop to open up in the neighborhood, it was absolutely worth the wait!!! Warning: Yes prices are a little high (everything these days is more expensive, But you are getting what you pay for here!) -friendly service -cool/hip environment(lots of photo ops) - and OF COURSE AMAZING ICE CREAM! They have vegan and sorbet options as well if you are trying to stay away from dairy! I got a 2 scoop cone (generous scoops) one of nilla dough (bright blue vanilla with cookie dough pieces) and one of fruity bites (red cereal milk flavored with fruity pebbles) Both were absolutely delicious! Will 100% be back! Welcome to the neighborhood CRMD!

Google
Great new ice cream spot in the area! Friendly staff, trendy look, fun flavors, and even some vegan options! Definitely recommend!

Google
GREAT ice cream. I absolutely love this place and am so glad that I live nearby. All of the flavors are unique and fresh with a couple of classics like cookies and cream thrown in the mix as well. Definitely check this place out!

Google
Was patiently waiting for the opening of the get crmd and it did not disappoint! I got the Fruity Bites and topped it off with some fruity pebbles and it was divine. The ice cream was creamy, had the right amount of flavor, and the added crunch of the cereal topping added that extra touch. I want to go back to try even more flavors and combinations! The atmosphere and vibes are top tier. The product is well made and flavorful. I think the cost of it is in line with other shops I've been to and valid considering the increase in costs countrywide. Give it a shot and enjoy a nice cold scoop for these hot summer days!

Google
Amending my review and upping it to 5 stars, went in tonight and the employees were very nice, I tried the cookie butter ice cream in a puffle cone and I was BLOWN away! Great job! ***old review*** It’s very average ice cream for a very hefty cost. The ice cream was okay, waffle cone was fresh but the prices are very very high for what you’re getting. I won’t be back personally.

Yelp
Enjoyed the mint chocolate chip ice cream with Frosted Flakes! The color on the scoop reminded me of Cookie Monster a little. Definitely a great asmr mouth cruncher. Ambiance is really nice but wish there were tables and seating so I could eat indoors, but ate on one of the benches right outside. Servers were helpful but I could tell that they were tired and felt as though they were a bit bored. Definitely not a bad ice cream place if you're craving it in this area, but it's one of those places where there are better locations elsewhere. (Unless they add something more interactive to the store to engage more with customers or diversify themselves)

Yelp
This is my favorite ice cream spot in Chicago! Some of the best combinations of flavors - I'm a huge fan of the Buckeye. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Yelp
I went here a few weeks ago and I got the cookies and crème flavor and the cookie dough flavor (I forget the special names that they call them in the store.) I think overall the ice cream tasted very fresh and was good. The lady who was working was also very nice and let us try whatever flavors we wanted. The place itself looks really nice and is good for taking photos. Overall, 4 stars because it's not the best ice cream I've ever had, but it was still very good.

Yelp
I feel like this place is running on being Instagram friendly, is overpriced, and I wonder if what they are using is actually food safe. Good: Okay, so the customer service is great. Everyone was happy to help and did a really good job helping you through the flavors and which topping to get. You also get one free topping which was cool. I got Oreos as the flavor I chose was a neon blue cookie dough ice cream. I got it in a puffle which was very tasty. This is not unique to crmd and is a trend happening in a couple other places around Chicago. Def would recommend getting it in this if you come here Bad Price: it's super expensive. It's $7 for a scoop of ice cream. Yes, the scoop is big... but the ice cream does not compare to Jenis, scooters, or Margie's. Ice cream: this is probably the most concerning, but I had a very bad reaction from the ice cream here. Not going to get to into it, but I question how safe the food is here. They are using activated charcoal in a flavor which can bring on a bunch of negative side effects, and is only really meant to be ingested unless prescribed by a medical professional. In addition with the ice cream I order there was something up with the food color or the composition of the ice cream as it hit me hard the next day... and not in a good way. I don't know if it was food poisoning (I don't think it was) or just a very poor choice of ingredients. I would stay away from this place. It's kind of like a wild animal, what may look bright and pretty may be the most dangerous.

Yelp
I think I'd give them a 3.5 stars. We waited all summer for CRMD to open and we're promptly disappointed by a) their price, and b) quality. First of all, $1.50 extra for a cone?? That's a little tacky. (It's like having a wedding with 2 drinks max per person.) I chose the Cereal & Milk bc it's one of my favorite flavors at Humphry Slocombe out in the Bay Area. CRMD's ver. was sweet and it had the cereal texture but that was all I tasted. *shrug* It's ice cream. But I'd rather spend my $7 on my two favorite men, Ben & Jerry's.

Yelp
Puffle cone me! Made fresh (so give it some time) I also legit tried every flavor and she obliged me without hesitation. Very simple decor and what some might consider complicated flavors. They have the classics for you vanilla folks. And it comes with a topping. My recommendation: a puffle cone with salted choco prez and Reese's cup topping. (Fruity bites was a very close second!)

Yelp
In the same neighborhood that is home to "Great Head" hair salon and "Get Nail'd" nail salon, an ice cream shop named "Crmd" fits right in. Although the name, a neon "Lick it Real Good" sign, and interesting flavors are all eye-catching, the ice cream itself leaves a lot to be desired. Like another reviewer said, the focus seems to be all about the aesthetic and not enough attention was given to the ice cream quality. We got a scoop of the cookies and cream and a scoop of the fruity pebbles flabor. Despite the store's name, the ice cream wasn't particularly creamy - especially when compared to the similarly priced Jeni's. The flavors were pretty lacking. I never leave ice cream unfinished (unless I'm stuffed) but I was done in just a couple bites. I never wish ill on a business and they JUST opened, so I'm hoping they'll be able to make some needed adjustments and have some better success.

Yelp
This place was open until 11 so my friend and I decided to come and satisfy our sweet tooth! They had a wide variety of flavors including vegan and gluten free options. The inside has a few spots for seating (6 people max?). I got a vegan chocolate coconut scoop with cheesecake topping and my friend got a brownie bit scoop. The icecream was delicious but the cheesecake tasted kinda old and dry. The person who helped us was very kind and polite. I don't think anything was extraordinary about this place but I might come again!

Yelp
Decided to check out CRMD for a change of pace from our usual ice cream spot. I got the Cookie Budder which tasted exactly like cookie butter/speculoos/biscoff cookies. I must say, it was delightful! I picked it partially for flavor and partially because it looked to be normal icecream color. I don't particularly care for the taste of food dye in large quantities note do I like foods that turn my mouth funny colors. Pretty much every other flavor was dyed a shockingly unnatural color. I was impressed by the number of vegan and GF options on the menu. The puffle cones are cute and tasty, but not worth the up charge. Also, to get two flavors, you have to get a double scoop - they don't do two smaller scoops in the equivalent size of their single scoop. The folks working were lovely. This probably won't become my go to spot. But if a friend invited me or wanted to try it, I'd go back.

Yelp
Me and my friend found this spot an hour before close and they didn't have anymore batter for the waffles cones, bummer. The cereal and milk ice cream was top tier and is a must try! Black vanilla flavor is okay. I'll be back for a waffle cone tho :)

Yelp
Was walking around Lakeview after getting dinner and happened to stumble upon this ice cream shop. They have your typical flavors along with a couple unique ones; matcha, viet coffee, and black vanilla (coconut activated charcoal). You can get a cup, cone, or puffle (based on the egg waffle from Hong Kong). You also get a free topping of your choice. I believe it's $6 for a scoop. I got the viet coffee and thought it was pretty good. It tasted more like regular coffee ice cream than viet coffee in my opinion.

Yelp
The BEST vegan ice cream!! Seriously have never had this good of vegan ice cream. Came here twice in two days because it really was that good. Gluten free options too!!

Yelp
The 3 stars is merely for the hours alone. They open at 4pm? During the summer? It's friggin hot. Would like some ice cream for the family :) this review is a strong vote that the hours need to change or we simply never find ourselves looking for ice cream so late in the day. I've been outside their door with other people in the neighborhood also trying to get ice cream and confused why this place would be closed. Excited to give this place business though if they'd be open when we could give it to them.

Yelp
It's my first time coming here today with my friend. She was craving ice cream, and we were right across the street at Crisp so it was really convenient. They weren't too busy today since they just opened their doors at 4. What really caught my eye was their sign that says "Lick It Real Good," and we both just cracked up at that -- it's only appropriate that we come here together since we already did Willie's N Waffles before it temporarily closed. The gentlemen greeted us right away and was really generous with samples and encourages it. The possibilities here are endless, they have plenty of delicious flavors from ice cream to sorbet, and more importantly, they have something for everyone even those who are vegan -- they have vegan chocolate and vegan nilla bean. At first I was taken aback because I'm usually the type to ask what they recommend and what's most popular etc, but at the same time it makes sense because people do like different things. I tried the mint chip and the mango sorbet both were delicious and also polar opposites, but I ended up doing the mint chip since it's so perfect. The mango sorbet is great too but it was a bit more sweet for me, tasted like mango with a lot of sugar syrup. I appreciate their 1 free topping, and I went with crushed Oreos and it was the perfect addition to my scoop. My friend did 2 scoops, a cookie dough and a cereal & milk with rainbow sprinkles on top. We had a good time, and we were able to sit by the window near the sign and enjoy our ice cream together. I'd recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for ice cream.

Yelp
Honestly not super worth it. Really expensive for a small cone and the flavor was ok. I got the fruity pebble flavor which I was initially pretty excited about. What threw me off was the bright red food coloring (not sure why but I would've expected any other color but bright red) and the texture. It was super grainy - maybe the fruity pebbles mixed in or something? Either way, didn't even taste like fruity pebbles and was pretty expensive so I likely wouldn't go back.

Yelp
Yay! It's closed permanently! Truth and better ice cream prevails. For Lease signs up.

Yelp
Nothing wrong with this place but very average. Ice cream was fine but I don't know if I need to go back.

Yelp
I love the Cookies and Crmd flavor, it's got a fun purple color! Not the greatest amount of seating, but a nice spot when it's not crowded. I would come back just to get some pints to go. Hopefully they don't raise prices, it wouldn't be worth it.

Yelp
VERY friendly staff and yummy ice cream to accommodate! I recommend ordering it in a puffle as well definitely a trendy pop up.. not sure if it'll last in the long run but I enjoyed it for what it was and would go back!
google avatar

Alejandro J.

Yelp
The person who always works the front is extremely rude and condescending. I asked for a simple sample as the majority of the ice cream has unnatural food colorings and he had such an attitude. Might want to work on your customer service buddy when you're the only one working the store and charging over $8 for mediocre ice cream. At least Bobtail and Johnson's before them had friendly employees.

Yelp
I agree with the previous reviews -- they open too late in the day during summer and the prices seem a bit much for what they offer. My partner and I both got one scoop of Cookies and Crmd. I got it on a regular cone and he got his on a puffle...our total was $16...the ice cream was good but I didn't think it was worth $16. Also, their puffle had no taste despite being $3. Customer service is alright.

Joe G.

Yelp
Would have to disagree with other reviewers - the price point was perfect for what you get. $6 for a scoop (or $8 for two) of quality ice cream plus a free topping is not out of this world in 2023. I got the vanilla ice cream with coconut activated charcoal in a puffle and it was delicious (definitely do not need a medical prescription for activated charcoal consumption like some nerd previously mentioned). Super friendly staff and overall I recommend this place. One con - they need to noticeably wipe their dusty fans. I am happily surprised about the 11pm closing time especially in the middle of March. Looking forward to returning in the summer when the weather is more accommodating.

Yelp
Good ice cream but very pricey... That's my only problem. (: hope they change because the flavors are there.

Luke T.

Yelp
I've never had to write a review for any place, but it didn't sit right with me that an ice cream joint can't even properly make the only thing they have a purpose for. I went to this place back in September and it's been bothering me ever since. I had the Cinnamon Toast Crunch and it was grainy like sand, had the consistency like play doh and was not creamy at all even though they're called "CRMD". It was overpriced and I can see that the money and effort is focused solely on the aesthetic of the store interior. The only good thing about this place is that the staff is friendly.
