On our trip to Gatlinburg, Crockett's Breakfast Camp was one of the only restaurants that we decided as a must early on. When leaving our hotel in Pigeon Forge, we made sure that we put ourselves onto the waitlist, and was pretty shocked at the 2 hour wait with 98 parties in front of us. We thought it must have been a glitch with the waiting list system, but it appeared to be true. I'm going to say that was probably also a blessing as driving down the parkway and through Gatlinburg took forever. Parking wasn't a problem as there are paid parking lots through out the parkway; be prepared to pay $20 anytime you move around the area. Pro tip if you are willing to walk around a little: park in the center of the town and pay for parking once. We went on to let them know we were there with roughly 25 parties in front of us. We also checked if we would still be able to get a table since the time was coming up on the closing hour. The host assured us if we are on the list and checked in that we would be seated. My exquisite partner and I went outside found an open spot on a bench and waited for our turn to be called.
When I noticed we were 2nd on the wait list, we made our way inside. We had to wait another 5ish minutes, so we looked at the decor and the taxidermy animals around the fireplace. Once we were seated, our waitress got our drink order of the strawberry orange juice. I didn't expect fresh strawberry orange juice, but that was exactly what was served. She also made sure we got glasses of water as well. We decided to order the Crockett Mountain Omelet and The Black Bear Camp Skillet to share between us. It was more than enough food for us two. My lovely companion wasn't a fan of the fresh hash as it was a bit oily and not really crispy; I was fine with it as I've had hash served like this before. The omelet was tasty with the jalapeños standing out a little more than we expected. We chose toast with the omelet because we had two sunny side up eggs with the skillet and that had a biscuit. Both meals came with a small scoop of cornbread garnishment, which was a nice flavor. The Black Bear Camp Skillet came with a huge pancake, sausage, ham, bacon, hash, grits, biscuit, country gravy, and two eggs in whichever way you'd like them. We didn't get the cheese on the grits but should have, as it was so plain otherwise. The biscuit was buttery and paired nicely with the gravy. The sausage, bacon, and ham was exactly as you would expect, with the bacon having a nice crunch. The pancake was super thick and had a nice flavor; it's a bit heavy, so if you like fluffy hot cakes, this isn't it.
Overall, service was good. The food is heavy, so be prepared for that. The wait is insane. If you have the time, and are super hungry in the morning, this might be the place for you!
