Who can pass this inviting jewel box on King Street? Lovely items in a wide price range. Attentive staff but not at all pushy. A trip to Charleston is not complete without a "remembrance" from Croghans Jewel Box!

Croghan’s has always been a place we’ve trusted, and up until recently, the service had reflected that, which is why I’m giving two stars instead of one. However, we’re incredibly disappointed with how a recent ring resizing was handled. My husband dropped his ring off to be resized last week and picked it up yesterday. At no point during drop-off was he told what the cost would be. When he arrived to pick it up, we were surprised to learn the total was $450. We absolutely understand that quality service comes with a price, but not being given any quote beforehand feels misleading and unfair. Had we known, we might have made a different decision or asked more questions. For such a well-respected jeweler, transparency should be a given.

A Gem of a Jewelry Store in Charleston! I had the most wonderful experience at this jewelry store! From the moment I walked in, the staff greeted me with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The selection is absolutely stunning, with unique pieces that feel like they were curated just for Charleston’s charm. The craftsmanship of their jewelry is incredible—each piece tells a story, and you can tell how much care goes into their work. Whether you’re looking for a timeless treasure or a special gift, they truly have something for everyone. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable, helping me find the perfect piece while sharing insights about the materials and designs. It’s clear they love what they do, and their passion made the entire experience so enjoyable. I can’t recommend this store enough—if you’re in Charleston and looking for jewelry, don’t miss this gem of a shop.

Went here for day of gifts for my wedding and am now devoted to them. The lady who helped me was absolutely wonderful and caring. I also had my engagement ring and great grandmother’s wedding band resized. Both came out beautiful and they ensured the engraving within my grandmother’s band was untouched (something I was very nervous for!). The pieces are of wonderful quality and the prices do reflect that but are very fair. I prefer to invest in my jewelry anyway! Overall - couldn’t recommend a better jewelry/gift shop. P.s: I was pleasantly surprised when they offered to put the photos in the lockets for me that I purchased. The photos turned out clear, non blurry, and perfectly cut to fit in such tiny pieces. They’re even allowing me to send them back to have another photo placed on the other side without additional charge!

Obviously, this store is only interested in serving the very rich. I went in to get a ring repaired, and the woman who serviced me made me feel completely unimportant and inadequate. No smile and kept informing me about just how long it would take and how many hundreds of repairs they have each month. They obviously didn’t want my business. Even though my husband bought the ring at this store three years ago. I Wish I had taken note of the name of the woman who I spoke to, but she was completely lacking in customer service.

It's had to describe just how special this "little" jewelry boutique is. Croghan's is a family owned and operated by the matriarch's of the Croghan and Ramsey family. I grew up with Mariana and Rhett and found myself lucky to have Rhett's help to find my wife a special ring for her birthday. Not only are they the "salt of the earth" people but you can trust them as well. Only the finest stones and diamonds available. Quality with a difference you can see. Iconic. Friendly. Simply, the best. Home of the "Gold Bug".

I’ve always wanted to re-design my wedding rings and incorporate my mother’s and grandmother’s rings. I knew I could entrust Rhett the owner of Croghan’s Jewel Box to envision a design that would be timeless and also honor the most important women in my life. The final product was more than I could ever dream of. Their customer service and selection in fine jewelry is incomparable. They also care about our community and are so generous when they give back. That’s why they’re such a gem in the city of Charleston!

Disappointed in customer service. Purchased a baby gift and it was lost shortly after, asked them if they'd be willing to provide a discount if I were to rebuy to alleviate the cost of having to purchase same product twice. The best they could do was 10% which they offer all new customers. Really hoped they'd be willing to do better, especially considering the circumstances.

This was first visit and think this is going to be where I go fine jewelry shopping from now on. You have to get buzzed in, so they are very attentive from the second you walked in! I was instantly greeted by the front door attendant who took me to a sales associate! I had an idea of what I wanted and they quickly helped me decide. I didn't feel rushed or pushed to make a decision. They also have great Christmas ornaments! I know a lot of people have a tradition of getting one every year!

Croghan's Jewel Box is my favorite in town. You have to be buzzed in the door for access and the store itself is fairly small. The employees are all friendly and happy to help. I have brought several necklaces here for repairs and untangling. If they don't have a specific item in store, they have catalogs to look though and they are able to order exactly what you want. The selection and variety of jewelry is good. They have a range of price points for every budget.

I had the best experience here! I have a vintage cameo ring that needed repairing and after reading a lot of reviews I decided to try Croghans (and I'm SO glad I did!). I was able to pick up my ring 3 weeks later and it looked stunning. The service was very reasonably priced and could not be happier with the service. I definitely recommend if you need anything jewelry related!

Croghan's is a King Street Staple! It is the Oldest Jewelry Store in Charleston, SC, since World War I!! They have all kind of services here Wedding Registry, Engagement Services, Appraisers, Estate Jewelry, Custom Design Jewelry, and more. Crogan's also has a Gemologist and a Jeweler on Staff. Very impressed with their salesperson Betsy Stusnick she is very knowledgeable and courteous!! They will definitely do their research to make Custom Jewelry!! Crogan's is awesome definitely 5 Stars !!

A little jewelry shop in the heart of the touristy part of King Street. They also service silver and appraise jewelry. I didn't feel a warm welcome or when I went in, so I took care of what I went in for without doing any additional shopping.

Croghan's Jewel Box on King Street in Charleston is a great place to go for all things jewelry and accessories. They have a unique selection of items that is different from everywhere else in town. The staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable and makes sure that you are taken care of and find everything you need. I have been well satisfied with all of the purchases that I have made here over the years.

Super overpriced jewelry store. I get the feeling that they cater to the wealthy people of Charleston. The average person may not be able to afford this store. Their jewelry is of the highest quality. Maybe some less expensive items might be in order. They used to carry watches, but have eliminated them, don't know why. I went there just for their watches. Many other places to go. Oh yea, they charge crazy prices to fix your jewelry items, even if bought them there. So much for return customer appreciation. Frank G

This is what my idea of an iconic Southern jewelry store is . The antique jewelry they had was incredible . I fell in love with a wood and gold link bracelet by Seaman Schepps . This jewelry store is family owned and gorgeous

Best jeweler in town. Unique gifts. Local attitude. I got helped by an old friend who took great care of me. The family their talked me into the Lowcountry Local First Promotion for a candy bar with a possible Golden Ticket. Guess who got the last GoldenTicket! Me. And I get a shopping spree and 2 night stay downtown. I liked this store before. Love it now! Will be back!

This is a store after my heart! I'm a sucker for jewellery and especially antique jewellery! They have lots of gorgeous rings and earrings. I found a pair of lovely baroque pearl earrings with turquoise studs. They were so beautiful. I wish I had seen the comment about them being able to negotiate while I was in there! Maybe tomorrow?

Croghan's started following me on Instagram, so naturally I was curious what they were all about.. They posted about a trunk show happening over the weekend, and I decided it was the perfect time to stop in and check out the store (and maybe some pretty rings!) The trunk show was upstairs (which they recently acquired - it is pretty awesome!) and was for a vintage jewelry designer out of LA. They had treats and drinks waiting for the guests, and of course all of the jewelry was beautiful. After cruising through the trunk show upstairs, we went back downstairs to take a peek around the shop. Everyone was very patient and understood that we were honestly just looking at rings, getting a feel for what we like and don't like. No one tried pushing anything off on us or made us feel uncomfortable. An older gentleman behind the counter even took the time to explain different settings to me and show me a few options. The staff here are A+. It can be awkward to walk into a jewelry store with your bf, with everyone asking if you are looking for an engagement ring, etc, but everyone here made it very easy to just cruise along. I really appreciated that! Also - this store is full of unique jewelry and other finds! I urge visitors and locals alike to stop by!

I was in the mood to find something interesting to add to my jewelry box. Hubby was jetlagged and not going to be mobile for another few hours. I took advantage of this free time to wander King Street. Charleston is super charming, but Lily Pulitzer-esque styling is not my thing. So, most of the little boutiques were a little too pink and lime for my taste. The last thing I wanted to do on vacation was to shop in a chain store. So, that left me searching for the perfect place to play. However, when I was buzzed into Croghan's, I was immediately enchanted. Bryan was super helpful and allowed me to play in every single case in the store. He even made sure I did not miss the sale case- 50 and 70% off! This store is chock full of pretty, sparkly things. Diamond bands and engagement rings. Some sort of hunter's cup (must be a local thing- British, even?). Giftware. But also a nice selection of modern jewelry designers like Alexis Bittar and Avindy. I shop often and there were brands that I did not recognize- that is a good thing! The Temple St. Clair Fall 2010 collection was absolutely delicious. Definitely not a tourist trap. A 100 year old establishment- family owned. Wonderfully happy with my purchase. My pocketbook thanks the fact that I do not live close to this place.

There are good reasons why this shop is so highly rated - I have not had customer service this outstanding in a long time. Visiting the store is always a wonderful experience. This morning I placed an order online, in anticipation of an upcoming birthday, and opted for the 5-7 day shipping. I emailed Croghan's to find out if the shipment might get to me on time (I need it by the 30th of April). An automated email informed me that the shipping time would be 2-3 weeks due to COVID 19. However, within a minute after that I received a personal email to let me know that my shipment was being prepared to go out today - thank you Ethan! I am ecstatic about that, and cannot say enough about the service provided by Croghan's. And of course their offerings are spectacular at all price levels. Highly highly recommend!!

We were visiting from out of town and my wife discovered a prong was bent on her solitaire diamond ring. Croghan's has a jeweler on-site and fixed her ring on the spot with no charge! So needless to say, customer Service is top notch.

Top notch quality and southern hospitality at its finest. My best friends back home own a high end jewelry store but I work on a cruise ship and happened to be in Charleston when my ring broke. Walked in and was well taken care of. The job was done quickly and the quality of work exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend!

Was referred to this place originally by family who live in Charleston to just pick up a spacer for my too-large engagement ring band. They were incredibly nice and helpful even though that was the only reason we originally went in there for. We enjoyed the treatment and environment so much that I ended up buying my husbands wedding band from them. They were also about 800$ cheaper than anyone else we had looked at for an 6mm 'comfort fit' platinum band and did us a big solid by mailing his band to us when they got it in, so we didn't have to make a 2 hour drive back.

I just got my wedding band and engagement ring serviced here. When it was carefully unwrapped, it literally took my breath away. The rings looked brand new just as they had 16 years ago on my wedding day. Go see Mariana Hay. She is the sweetest lady. She asked me how I found Croghan's and I told her that my sister in law advised me to find the oldest jewelry store in town. The fact that this family business is over 100 years old speaks volumes of its service. Mariana smiled and said, "It was my grandfather's." So glad I got to work with her. Her grandfather would be proud.

My favorite jewelry store in CHarleston, hands down. The staff are incredibly helpful, and the estate jewelry collection is amazing. I find a new and incredible treasure every time I visit. Would highly recommend you visit Croghan's.

I was in Charleston a few weeks back and purchased a palmetto bug pin and a rice bead necklace to commerate my trip. BUT, I found the most exquisite bracelet there that was already engraved for another customer. I filled out the paperwork for the backordered bracelet and within a few days time (I hadnt even arrived home yet) I received a call from Ellen stating they had the bracelet for me in a 7 1/2 inch size. I immediately bought it and it arrived today via FedEx to California. My iniitals are hand engraved on the clasp and now I can proudly say I am a member of the "club" in owning my very own club bracelet. Thanks to Ellen and Betsy for their outstanding customer service!

Had a great experience at Croghan's this past weekend. Very friendly and helpful service. It was surreal to be surrounded by so many beautiful objects.

I went there to shop for jewelry for my wife. There simply was not much of a selection of classic, yet youthful jewelry. Most things they had were gaudy, stuffy pieces - it might suit your taste if you are looking for vintage style jewelry. The staff was friendly enough, but not very good at honing in on my wife's taste. I asked for wintery jewelry, and she was showing me bright yellow topaz things. Not helpful. If you park on the surface lot, be careful. Croghan's only validates $1 for your parking, and the lot behind the store does NOT take credit card. You'd better bring cash. I give the three stars because it was certainly a well-established store with a courteous staff, and you might find what you want there. They had interesting watches and other sparkley things, but none of it was to my taste.

My husband has purchased two diamond necklaces over the past 12 months here. One - as recently as three weeks ago. They are gorgeous and I love them. However, one developed a small kink so I dropped it off to be fixed (along with another plain chain not purchased there and stated that it wasn't an expensive chain - and to call me if it was too difficult of a job or too costly). I never received a phone call and followed up on my own only to learn that they are charging us close to $100 to fix both, Seeing that we've spent a few thousand dollars there - this is a bit absurd. I've never dealt with a jeweler that charges such a large amount to untangle a necklace AFTER you've been a loyal customer. Even Tiffany's fixes their jewelry for free. A bit surprised that they don't recognize someone with more buying potential down the road. Disappointed.
