Crompton Ale House

Stopped here for a quick bite and drink. The place is very warm and comfortable with a large open area and large bar. We just had a pretzel and cocktails which were very tasty. Servive waa suoer friendly and quick. Lots of tv's for a game. Prices were average but they do have a good happy hour menu. Very cool place. Will be back.

Ambiance (5/5): This is such an awesome sports bar—several large TVs surrounding the whole bar and really open space with tall ceilings. The room is wonderfully decorated, like you’re in a library. The upscale bar feeling is nice. The front windows/walls are open so natural lighting comes into the venue. Only qualm is that the tall chairs are stools with no back so over time it gets a little uncomfortable sitting. Happy Hour menu (4-7pm) that had $5 bottles, $6 drafts, and $8 wine/house mixed drinks—mozz sticks $14. Service (5/5): Despite how large the venue is, the staff was constantly doing laps so it was never hard to get anyone’s attention. They also checked in for refills before our glasses were empty! The hostess and the server were both very smiley and sweet to us. Food (4/5): I enjoyed the mozzarella sticks which were stacked in a tower of 3! The chips for the guac were a bit stale but otherwise a very standard guac.

I met my High School besties while in town and researched the best pub in Chelsea for lunch. This one was the best! They were friendly- gave us a great table and let us sit for three hours visiting. We ordered plenty of appetizers while there and they were delicious. Loved the soft pretzels and the hamburger sliders. Thanks for making our visit a memorable one! We will see you next time! Patty

THE BEST EXPERIENCE we’ve had in an Irish pub!!! We loved the bartender, Roger, and Shane, the owner. We had such a fun experience on the first day that we came back again on day 2. What a down- to- earth group of humans. Will be back again!!! 💛💛💛💛

Crompton ale house was a great way to end the night. The food was amazing but somewhat pricey. Drinks were great, but also somewhat pricey. I think it is on part with the bars around the area on Price but I would recommend you going.

Our group of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our lunch today! Friendly service, we were allowed to enjoy our food and company without being rushed, and the food was delish. The avocado toast was yummy! We also had a great club sandwich, sweet potato fries, French onion soup, huge pancakes, and chicken sandwich. All of it was fantastic. Beautiful interior as well. Highly recommend!

We came in here for a few drinks and loved the atmosphere. Bartenders were so nice and the drinks were great. Loved the happy hour deals too!

Awesome atmosphere! I came for Christmas eve and the staff had on the cutest hats, and also created a wonderful ambiance. The buffalo wings, quesadillas, and sliders are a must get. Great prices for happy hour drinks, and the price for the food is reasonable for the quality. THE pub to go to in Chelsea. Don’t miss out!!

Wonderful atmosphere just pay attention and check your bill. Happy hour tall wells are $10.50 instead of 8$ what? Their reasoning was an extra $2.50 for the extra soda! Ummmm we loved this place u til now. Poor service tonight and bad attitudes. We have come the last 2 nights for late dinner or drinks. Had wonderful food and service. Wondered why bill was getting higher. What a rip off. Very disappointed. Manager did ask me to change my review after he comped our drinks. That was very nice, but not necessary or the point.

Solid Irish pub. Large inside, nice interior. Very clean, & very prompt service. Requisite surly but highly competent older male Irish bartender. Five stars b:c the music was Motown's Greatest Hits, & not lowest common denominator classic rock dreck. Buffalo wings were also really good. The squash soup on a grey, cold, rainy day was also great, but the portion was quite stingy - the crock was barely 1/2 full. Still 5 stars for the vibe & the music.

No frills pub - came in for a quick drink before a show nearby. Efficient service, nothing noteworthy one way or the other!

The wings here are 10/10. We did their 3 appetizer special. 2 sets of the wings and the pig in a blanket. We wish wr had done all wings. The ambiance during the holiday season was very cozy and we loved the soft lighting all around. The service was amazing and we loved how attentive and interactive the staff were.

Good place for happy hour drinks after work or to watch a match. The prices here are pretty reasonable. As for food it's your typical pub fare. They have really good fries and my friend said she liked her burger. I got the Cobb pretending to be healthy and it was good. The service is great and very friendly. It's quite large inside with a lot of tables, booths and bar seating. It's also conveniently located near Penn Station and a few other train stops.

Crompton Ale House may feel generic (sports bar vibe, dark wood, vaguely Irish theme), but what they do, they do well. My girlfriend and I have been a few times on Friday evenings since moving to the neighborhood for drinks and light bites: even on Friday evenings, the place is buzzing but never too packed. The beer list is solid, with the house brew (a red ale) recommended, and the pretzels (served with a slightly spicy mustard and a creamy beer cheese sauce) are a perfect side

This was a beautiful hidden gem during a holiday trip to NYC. The food was delicious! My party all enjoyed their food and shared dishes. The chicken sandwich was flavorful and fresh and the sweet potatoes fries were a great pairing. I felt like a kid in play-land being fascinated by the beautiful ambiance. The holiday decorations were a beautiful touch but the BOOKS! It's like a beautiful library with real hidden gems throughout. This place is a book lovers dream! Service was great and attentive too.

Stopped in here randomly for the first time, on my way to Penn Station, with no expectations. Just wanted a good burger and a cold beer. Got both, and then some! This was just a really nice experience overall. Very Inviting from the outside, very good menu, and far more than just the pub basics. Added Bonus: they had great happy hour drink specials! It really chafes my ass to pay $8 or $9 a pint at happy hour! So to find somewhere serving $6 pints and $5 cans in midtown was very refreshing!! Good cans too, not just PBR or High Life like most cheap spots. The burger was absolutely delicious. Large patty, soft bun, and most importantly, COOKED TO MY REQUESTED TEMP! Perfect medium, juicy as hell. Shoestring fries were absolutely perfect as well. The place has a beautiful "library" motif, with dark woodwork and illuminated bookshelves surrounding. The bar is beautiful, made of stone with bold copper plumbing. The tap beer was cold and fresh. Six point Bengali. My server at the bar was great too. Very attentive and polite. Always scanning the bar to see who needed something, really on top of things. Loved this spot. I will surely return soon.

Oh yeah, this is a good place. I've never had their food but it smells good!!! Come after work during happy hour and the service is great. Lots of TVs but they seem to only play two different things at once. Overall, a great place. Some of the bartenders have Irish accents so I think they're actually from Ireland. Stop by, I recommend.

Pigs in a blanket. Not good, chewy and no flavor. The sauce that came with it was good but that was to cover the taste of the food. Not good. Beer was good. Service was good. Place was clean and nice.

Picked this spot randomly due to its proximity to penn station, but was worried it would be packed and crazy - Was pleasantly surprised to see that Crompton Ale House is super spacious, with rustic, but modern decor. Good happy hour specials - typical cheaper beers, wines, etc. Food was quite good as well - Would definitely recommend the Mushroom flatbread. service was great - The bartender was friendly, attentive, and gave us space. definitely will be returning!

Yuk. The sausage was disgusting and the fish and chips was all batter and mushy. The sausage appetizer was the worst I've ever eaten not good at all

I truly treated myself today by stopping in to have a bite to eat at Crompton's Ale House. The first impression I got - what stunning decor! Really, what could be better? A beautiful wall bookshelf to the left. An airy open vibe, sound system piping the best in 90s British rock. A long beautiful bar to complement the library right opposite...I could not have asked for better. To top it off I had the Crompton burger which is very yummy, and might just have been the best burger I've ever had. You will just have to go and find out why! In a city filled to the brim with Irish pubs, Crompton Ale House stands in a unique category in Chelsea. Such an unassuming location. If you like books, booze, and tasty bites then I encourage you to check them out. Special shoutout to the wonderful character I met today, the barman Roger. Spend some time with him, and you will leave Crompton's with a fuller belly, a lighter wallet, and a huge smile on your face! I'm already planning my next visit.

Visited Crompton Ale House for lunch and dinner time. I will say the lunch experience was a lot better due to the service. There weren't many tables so the waiters were more attentive but I can see that they were really busy and trying their best when we went for dinner. It is a very spacious place so there's lots of seating options from high and low tables to the bar seating. It's very casual and the decor fits the trendy rustic theme. I will say I am obsessed with their Barbie Cosmo which is made with watermelon. It was so good that we ended up ordering 2 rounds each time we went. Note they do have a happy hour from 4-7pm and that drink is included! We all enjoyed the food we ordered. I had the Buffalo Chicken Flatbread both times and my friends had the Reuben Sandwich, Margherita Flatbread, and 26th Street Burger. During our dinner visit we tried the Bar Pretzel as an appetizer but it wasn't the best. It didn't have much flavor and it seemed to be overcooked so it was too hard. Overall I really like this spot and they seem to be consistent! Definitely going to be a regular since it's near my job.

I've been coming here from time to time and have always Iiked their food but they can't make a drink to save their lives. The bartenders charge so often its no wonder their cocktails leave so much to be desired.

FOOD SERVICE ATMOSPHERE ALL A 10/10! Every person in here is so friendly and makes it their mission to make sure you have a wonderful dining experience. A must attend on a trip to NYC. PERFECT for game days, morning day or night. This is what the standard should be for all NYC sports bars.

Lively sports bar and pub atmosphere but larger and more comfortable than some I've been to. Friendly bar service and good food. As usual all over now the noise level is too high. Definitely recommend for informal lunch, dinner or a drink.

10/10 would recommend Crompton Ale House, Shane & the staff went above and beyond and the food and drinks were fantastic. Location is perfect and just a walk away from the sights you may want to visit when in NY. Big screen tv and a bit of craic in a really nice establishment.. thanks so much, we'll be back!

Very disappointing experience. The bartender made a blatantly racist comment, which is even more disheartening considering he is Mexican. We asked to sit near the screen, and he told the manager we couldn't because -- and I quote -- "THEY don't have the money to sit or eat there." Absolutely unacceptable behavior. So yes, this place deserves all the negative reviews it gets. Sincerely, a disappointed Panamanian customer.

My husband and I came here before the concert on Friday, the service was meh and the food was even more meh. The only good thing was the calamari and my drink. Typical overprice, bad service NYC restaurant. The fish tacos was so dry that I wouldn't even feed it to my cat if I had one. I had a bite of my husbands wings and it was cold. $90 down the drain.

There is no other place I would go to on a Saturday or Sunday. Shane is the greatest, goes up to every table, greets them and makes everyone feel at home. There's a reason I come here over 50 times a year. This is my Mecca

A no-fuss Irish pub with pretty high quality food! Their cocktails were also on the fancier end and they're delicious. I really enjoyed the Derry Girls. They also have your usual pub beers and what not. We split a bunch of appetizers which were all good across the board. Would recommend the Calamari and Sweet Potato Fries, in particular. I got the Salmon for my larger plate and it's very delicious and well-balanced. The fish was cooked perfectly (they even asked for your preference!) And the miso glazed worked very well. All in all, a super solid casual spot for food and to hangout.

Crompton Ale House is the best bar in New York City. Shane and the entire staff make you feel at home. Couldn't imagine watching a game anywhere else.

Had a group meet here after a recent outing while visiting NYC. Drinks and food were great. Our server was great and it wasn't too crowded so we could talk to each other and actual hear!

Popped in for a quick lunch bite and pint. Super cool interior. Very cozy. Good beer list and food menu. Had the calamari for lunch, which I'd highly recommend! What a great place! The staff was warm and welcoming and we loved that they were so friendly . The food and drinks were excellent. We had brats and a French Dip. The entire restaurant was decorated for Christmas and it looked beautiful. Tell Roger I said hello

This place was our oasis each night after the chaos our trip to NYC. One of the owners was there every night to greet us and ask how our day went. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The happy hour drinks are great. I highly recommend the Crompton Ale. The food was delicious. I just love this place so much.

Meets or exceeds every expectation you should have for a NYC pub. I ate dinner here two nights in a row. Inside is very nice and upscale for a pub, but I chose to sit outside where it was quiet and I could people-watch. Service was great. Waitress was just the right level of attentive. She remembered I wanted extra ketchup the second night. She offered water when I only ordered a mixed drink. The manager came out to check on me. The foods is better than you'll find in most pubs and the portions are reasonably generous. Prices are fair. I had two good experiences and I would recommend to anyone who's seeking a easy place to have a drink (or beer...it is a pub) and some higher-quality bar food.

Crompton Ale House was right across the street from our hotel during our visit to the Fashion Institute of Technology. We ended up coming here many times during our five day stay. The service by this beautiful Irish girl that goes by the name of Alana was above five star. Tried some of the weekly specials spring rolls were perfectly crunchy and chicken sandwich was moist crispy a little bit of a kick but I really enjoyed it. Every time I come here it's truly the neighborhoods local Pub!!!!

Great beer selection and a wide variety of choices for food. I come to NYC often for work and I always make sure Crompton is my first stop. Tyler compliments the experience seemingly effortlessly with great recommendations, attentive service and a good laugh! No matter where you are, get to Crompton ale house immediately, you will not be disappointed.

A pretty good spot for a Wednesday lunch, not packed. Service was good. The restaurant has a nice vibe that is classic pub with a steampunk edge, with cogs as a regular theme. The cheese curds appetizer was awesome, and the dip was flavorful with pleasantly warm spices. I had the mushroom flatbread; the description said it would have arugula on top but mine had sprouts instead. My husband liked the fries in his fish and chips, but the breading on his fish was rubbery. Our son had a chicken quesadilla, and having tried a bite, I can say that it was very good, a nice mix of chicken and cheese. I ordered a pint of Magner's on tap, and I haven't had that fresh since I was in the UK in 2019, so that was nice. My husband enjoyed the Crompton red ale.

Stopped in here on a Thursday evening. The inside was loud (music) with tons of TVs everywhere, but we sat outside and it was lovely and calm. Food came out quickly and it was hot and tasted great (hubby and I ordered reuben sandwiches). You can order and pay right from your phone after scanning the QR code on your table, so convenient and contactless.

They've introduced a new app-based menu and ordering system that is much worse than waiters. Overcooked my burger by leagues and the French onion soup was cheese draped over a watery onion broth. Used to be a regular.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here for a bite to eat while we waited for check in time for our hotel. The aesthetics of this restaurant was really cool and I can see where it would have a really great vibe at night especially. We ordered the pigs in a blanket and fried cheese curds to start. The pigs in a blanket were good but omg the cheese curds were incredible! We hung out for a bit after that and then later decided to split the French dip sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was also really good! We like to dip our sweet potato fries in honey mustard so we asked for a side and I'm 99% sure it was spoiled, if not it just tasted horrible so we skipped that. It didn't matter though because the sweet potato fries were bangin on their own. Service was great! We had two waiters checking on us and both were very attentive and friendly. They were quick to refill our drinks and grab anything we needed. Overall great experience, I'd definitely go back if I was in Chelsea again!

My fiancé and I were exploring the area and found the Sandbar Rooftop across the street. We were disappointed; so, we went across the street to Crompton and WOW! We had the best bartender Shane. He was awesome! We got espresso martinis and they were exceptional! The Chelsea Heat was also great! I 100% recommend this bar we are now going to be regulars! *10 OUT OF 10*

Funny enough stopped by during Dry January and loved the creme brulee. Got a coffee as well which was tasty. Great vibes with the interior design and music. I'll be back for food and drinks
