The 18 Best Restaurants In Delaware Beach Towns

"You’ll notice that there are a few breweries on this guide. That’s because, like most places in the country, Delaware’s beer scene is growing rapidly, with a new brewery popping up every summer. What makes the ones here unique is the range in styles and methods across the state—you’ll find cask-style options, beers brewed with oyster shells, and sours made with lemon-lime Gatorade. Crooked Hammock pours beers of all kinds, but our heart lies with their sours, which feature summery flavor combinations like blueberry and lemon. Bring a group, order some slow-cooked, Old Bay-covered wings, and post up at their outdoor beer garden. There are rocking chairs, fire pits, and—of course—hammocks. Come here after a day at the beach and you’re guaranteed to have a great time. " - nicole schumann

We visited during the mid afternoon and our service was fantastic. The kids meals were a good size and I love the fresh apples as a side, the hammock fries were also tasty. I chose to get the nachos with chicken as my meal. It was a great size and some bites were delicious while others were mediocre. I think my biggest concern is that I paid extra for the chicken and it was dry and essentially flavorless. I did like the variety of flavors in the basic nachos though and took home enough for at least 1 full meal, maybe 2. We ate outside which was the perfect option. The kids were able to run and play before and after eating and even played some ping pong, meanwhile, I was able to enjoy my entire meal without feeling rushed because they were antsy. This is a great family lunch option and I would return although I wouldn’t make it a frequent visit because it is a little pricey for an all the time stop.

We had a wonderful experience at Crooked Hammock! Marcus was a fantastic bartender. He was conversational, knowledgeable about the menu and beers, attentive, and so kind. Every beer we had was delicious and so were the peanut butter and jelly shots! 😋 Definitely recommend this fun little spot.

Google
This is one of my grandkids’ favorite place to eat at the beach! They love it and it makes for a very happy relaxing time for me when we go. I’ve never had a bad experience. Staff have always been great! Just a fun environment and we all love our dog can go too for a change.

Google
The service was great! They were spot on with the food. This place has something for the whole family. The "Street Corn Fries" and "Smashed Avacado" were unique meal starters. The main meal selections were creative and tasted good. We really enjoyed the meatloaf and Sticky Lager Chicken. There's lots of space, creative decorations and plenty of distractions for kids. They have indoor and outdoor dining.

Google
Fun atmosphere with a kid and adult playground practically... hammocks, games, jungle gyms, fire pit, and pretty flowers. The chili and cherry ribs were to die for! The mac and cheese was good with the roasted green beans and chicken. But still good.... picked up some Ts. Very nice manager.

Ali is such a great server! We loved her! She has such radiant and positive energy. She loves to get to know her guests and is also very informative. 100% a girls girl too. Not to mention the food was mouth watering. Definitely recommend the steak skewers and blueberry lemon beers as well. Thanks crooked hammock! Will defintely be coming back again!

Google
What a great place to hang out with the family. It has that vibe that your at a house party in someone's backyard hanging by the firepit while the kids are running around playing games and your able to listen to great live music and have drinks and great food all the while. The coconut shrimp and chicken sandwiches were a hit. The fries were unique as it seemed a cross between chips and fries. The ambiance alone was absolutely perfect. The atmosphere was very lively and I would love to return again and again. Finally a place to bring the kids and let them loose while we enjoy our drinks!!! Excellent idea!

Google
Food was good except for that pesky Old Bay! Service was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant was super clean and had really fun, whimsical décor. The prices were reasonable, about what you'd expect. We agree 👍🏼 we would definitely return. BTW: that humongous pretzel is DEFINITELY worth it, but get the queso dipping sauce. ✨️👌🏻

Yelp
This place truly impressed us. The interior is spacious, with a unique feature where cool-looking garage doors open up to a play area for kids in the back--perfect for families. We managed to snag two seats at the bar, which had plenty of room for everyone. The bartender was not only sweet but also excellent at her job, filling draft beers to the brim with precision every time. For our meal, we ordered the shrimp skewers and a chicken sandwich, accompanied by green beans and grilled pineapple. The shrimp skewers were served on sticky rice that was surprisingly flavorful, and the grilled pineapple was fresh and straight off the grill. The sauce on the fried chicken sandwich was the highlight for my girlfriend--it made her day. All in all, this place gets an A+ from us.

Yelp
Tuukka & I have become regulars at CHB so much so that most everyone who works there has become a familiar face. Taylor took great care of us on Sunday; I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't overly crowded for lunch since the tourist season has kicked off. Taylor is friendly & always with a ready smile, and immediately brought out a bowl of ice water for Tuukka. She knows everything on the menu, & is sure to mention any new items, & lets me know of upcoming events Tuukka always gets a medium-rare burger pattie to add to the grilled beef & chicken I bring from home; I think the burger pattie was added to their electronic ordering system because of him. One recommendation is a pet menu with a burger pattie or chicken breast. Thanks Taylor. See you again soon. p.s. to the CHB management ~ I posted another review for Joelle last week when prompted to on your Kickback app.

Yelp
WOWWWW - love this spot so much and cannot wait to come back (this place will not be a staple in our family vacation ). I stumbled upon this going through places on Yelp looking for something new. It was about 20 minutes from Rehobeth where we were staying. Tons of parking and sorta tucked away from the madness. The place itself is awesome! There are two bars here, tons of indoor/outdoor seating, and a little spot to grab a few souvenirs. The hostesses were super friendly and sat us outside upon request. Our server Dakota was awesome! He was knowledgeable of the menu and gave great recommendations. He was super attentive during our visit here. The staff overall worked together as a team. I did the beer flight with 4 of their sours and they were delicious! Staycation was my personal favorite. My husband enjoyed a few of their beers. We started with the smashed avocado dip and pineapple wings. The dip was so light and flavorful. The wings had excellent flavor and were different than other wings we've had. The old bay crab dip was delish and the old bay pretzels were a great vessel. My kids got the chicken and mac n cheese as well as the hot wings. It was a nice portion for both. I thought their prices were fair given the portions. There's quite a few fun activities to enjoy while here (both young and old). I highly recommend making a pitstop here.

Yelp
After about 8 years, we made our way back and had such a wonderful experience! Kids in tow and all. The playground was such a hit! The food was so much better than my first time around. The chicken, bacon, ranch sandwich was *so* darn yummy. Everything was brought out in a timely manner and it was still hot. We came back for lunch today and it was definitely quieter than the dinner crowd (no complaining here!) The whole family agreed, we had such a great time. We'll be back for sure!

Yelp
Super cute restaurant and great to come to with kids. They have a playground in the backyard as well as a few games and hammocks. The food was delicious. Ordered the crab dip which was good and forgot to take a picture of my shrimp taco salad. The reason I gave 3 stars is because service was really lacking. The server had it waiting a long time and continuously got our order wrong or forgot to bring things we'd request.
google avatar

Morgan F.

Yelp
The service was fantastic but I have to rate 1 star because the food was inedible. My boyfriend who eats anything and everything couldn't even finish a slider. Don't recommend sliders or salads.
google avatar

Marissa W.

Yelp
I liked the seating area outside and the service was good as well. Some of the beer was good. The nachos were extremely underwhelming but not horrible.

Yelp
Ate early dinner there yesterday the food was really good and the service was great will continue to patronize this place. If you have children it is a Greta place to go

Yelp
Crooked Hammock is always a great time. I think they best think about this place is the beer. They brew delicious beer and there are tons of options. I'm a big fan of the sours and they have 4 different ones to choose from which is kind of rare! I recommend getting a flight so you can try a bunch of brews. They also have delicious cocktails. And don't forget to get some beer to go! The food is pretty good too! They have some good appetizers, sandwiches and entrees. I really like the pineapple wings, the nachos and they also have good salads and lots of variety. They have attentive servers and the food comes out pretty quick. This place is also great for groups and families... and it's dog friendly. They have outdoor seating and lots of space. They even have a playground in the back as well as corn hole and other games. Crooked Hammock also has live music out on the stage. This place is an experience! Sometimes it can get really loud, crowded and chaotic... also there can be a long wait in the summer and especially on weekends. We just went with friends who have kids... and Unfortunately there's no changing table in the men's room. Hopefully they will consider putting one in. All in all this is a place I will keep coming back to!

Yelp
Beautiful day to have a late lunch outdoors. So where do you go, why the Crooked Hammock of course. They have a weekly lunch special. Had the "members only" (free when you join their reward program) special fries that come with a French onion dip. It was very tasty! I ordered the Caesar salad with crispy chicken and it did not disappoint. The dressing was delicious as was the shredded Parmesan cheese with pretzel roll croutons. The crispy chicken was so good, cooked perfectly and great seasoning. would definitely try a sandwich with that on it. The portion size, talking regular menu order was plenty for this hearty eater with leftovers to take home. We sat out on the deck and it was great! We forgot that we could have brought the fur babies with us-many others there quietly laying under the tables. I really liked this location as they have another up North. Fun relaxing place. And our server was excellent. We'll be back soon -with the Gurlz!

Yelp
Nice place for a quick meal in the middle of Rehobeth Jazz Festival. Menu's a little sparse, but what we had was very good. Very nice honey glazed fried chicken sandwich with thick-cut fries and a really, really great pickle was a great choice! I couldn't drink try their beers tonight (argh!) but my buddy said his was great. Give them a try!
google avatar

Yelp
Crooked Hammock is great brewery in the Lewes area. Happy hour specials are awesome ($4 beer!) service is also great. We like to have a few drinks and enjoy the back patio and games. Definitely check it out!
google avatar

Lesli C.

Yelp
Fun and friendly vibe! All hosts and servers have been timely and attentive. The outside "playground" is perfect for kids of all ages - including adults who want to get a few rounds of practice landing the ring on the peg! My husband and sister and I have been there often and enjoy the food. My husband prefers Hefeweizens and never fails to find a brew to his liking. I even took my 85 yo mother here and we ate outside and enjoyed the beautiful spring weather. Keep on bringing it CHB!
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Went here after seeing an influencer recommend this place so she did her job but we were disappointed. The playground is small and our boys seemed to want to play on the hammocks over it. The food was ok and the service was ok. It is nice that there are a few things for kids to do but because of the food and service we will not likely go back.
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
This place just gives you vacation vibes. They have an open backyard atmosphere with plenty of things to keep you entertained. We opted to sit inside to have our dinner. Our waitress was friendly and attentive throughout our time there. We started out with the street corn fries as our appetizer. It was really good! I went for the grilled meatloaf with mac & cheese. The meatloaf was not the best, I would definitely try something different from the menu next time. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their food and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Good place to go for larger groups.
google avatar

Beata K.

Yelp
Yummy food on the way across country. Nice service and they figured out how to keep kids busy.
google avatar

Yelp
Chill spot in Lewes with indoor and outdoor seating and a nice beer garden area out back with seating and games. I really enjoy their margaritas and loaded nachos. Their blackened salmon sandwich is also delicious with arugula and lemon. Plenty of seating. They have live music at times as well on their indoor stage. Great selection of beers on tap! My favorite is the coconut New England brew. They have an annual beer tasting events with all the breweries in DE represented, falling on April 2 this year.
google avatar

Joanna R.

Yelp
Very lively place. Open air seating and bar. Inside dinning is comfortable as well. Play area outside for the kiddos. Always has a rock'n band. Expect a nice wait for Saturday dinner. This place is big but can get packed!
google avatar

Jana L.

Yelp
The ambiance with the hammocks and large outdoor space is both family friendly and pretty chill and on hot summer day, surprisingly crowded!?! It was much quieter and empty inside, which is where we grabbed a few beers. Bartenders were busy but attentive, but the beer itself was decidedly middle of the road, with a few just not being good at all. We didn't have any food here, but for a brewery, I just wasn't impressed. South to Somewhere was unbalanced, something about the coconut didn't work right and the English Pale Ale was also off, maybe just a little sour with too much bitterness? It's hard to explain, but it was not what I was looking for. There are a lot of fruited beers, which aren't really my thing either, so maybe this wasn't the brewery for me and I wasn't trying the beers they specialized in.
google avatar

Kathryn K.

Yelp
I don't know. This was actually the first restaurant that I tried of the new year, and my first time in the area. I will say that the ambiance was beautifully done not cheesy but yet perfectly on theme. They did offer a outside component this time of year, which was fully enclosed in a tent like material, yet despite the heaters, it was just way too windy and cold to sit out there. They quickly accommodated our larger group to go inside. Being that many of our guests within our group are within the hospitality field, we are always extremely sensitive to being as efficient as possible. They have a variety of items on the menu and some specials that particular weekend. So we'll have our group members ordered drinks which on fortunately tasted like some of the product was Sour. The waitress quickly fixed this. However, the second drink was also not done well. We had that replaced as well. That's when the personality shifted. Unfortunately this is frustrating for both the consumer as well as the waitress however after that it seems pretty downhill. The appetizers were great which I believe we had boneless chicken wings Buffalo flavored. But the meals themselves lacked in flavor but had strong sizes. Not sure if I can say I would highly recommend this place or just recommend it if I was in the area and had all the options.
google avatar

Sandahl T.

Yelp
Came for a late lunch and we were seated right away. I ordered the chicken Cobb salad which was really good. My husband got a salad with a variety of berries and he liked it a lot. Our waitress was good and checked on us regularly. We like going to Crooked Hammock for the vibe which is fun and beachy. The outside area is really fun with a playground, games and hammocks.
google avatar

Elisa F.

Yelp
Was pleasantly surprised by this place! We planned to visit thinking it was a more casual brewery that served food, turns out it's definitely more of a restaurant that brews their own beer. Table service even outside so make sure you grab the host before sitting at their sweet outdoor patio. Filled with yard games, funky seating, and of course, hammocks! They are dog friendly outside as well and will bring a bowl of water out for your pup. Started with some beers and loved their lager. I also enjoyed their BLT that was on special, served on challah bread which gave it a nice sweetness. Obsessed with their buffalo sauce that came on the wings so had to order a side of it for my fries. Could absolutely drink this stuff. If you're a buffalo fan, order that stat!! Great meal here and will absolutely be back if we're in the area again!

Yelp
Fantastic location, great for families. Menu has tons of options for every taste. Extensive drink menu. Wait staff was nice and service was prompt.

Lucas G.

Yelp
waited over 40 minutes for my food. The lady who was sitting us down sat us in the corner right below the air conditioning which was absolutely freezing that we had to go to the car and get hoodies and sweatpants it was so cold. The food took forever to get out, they brought one meal then we waited 30 minutes for the other 5 meals. 64 degrees in here I brought my own thermometer after I asked 3 times for no pickles I end up with 5 pickles on my stuff. My food got cold in 2 minutes from the constant a/c blowing on it set to freezing cold temps. Do not sit in booths, sit outside atleast you'll enjoy the weather while you wait forever for your food. Solid food tho, got cold in 2 seconds thanks to the freezer atmosphere.
google avatar

Nina S.

Yelp
Worst mac and cheese I've ever had at a restaurant. The noodles were hard (no, I don't mean al dente, I mean HARD.) The sauce was like a glue, as in "stick your tongue to the roof of your mouth" pasty. I wasn't even given silverware to eat with! I had to ask a server who acted like I was imposing on him. I will never return. There are much better, and friendlier places to spend my money.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
We stopped here on the way home from the ferry. It was a great stop off to let the kids blow some steam off on the hammocks and the rest of the little play ground. The food was fresh and fantastic. I got a mixed four pack to go and the beers were creative, and very much on point to their description (if they mention fruit it's going to be forward). An absolute must stop in any future drives through this area.
google avatar

Trip L.

Yelp
John, our bartender was amazing. The food was super creative and some of the best we've had. Steak skewers for me and coconut breaded chicken wings for the wife. Both, excellent! Overall very satisfied and well def be back.
google avatar

Janet Lisa P.

Yelp
We have always had good service at the crooked hammock. Staff is always nice. Dishes are served hot and the beers are amazing. We enjoy this spot off season. Thai is a busy Joint and they don't take reservations. This location is amazing and is accommodating to families or friends looking to have a nice time out. The back yard offers a child's playground, a few hammocks, corn hole, ping ping or just relax near the fire pit. Would recommend.
google avatar

Dawn R.

Yelp
Loved my meal...shrimp taco salad. The 'Hot Mess' dessert is so good 'Funnel fries with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, whipped cream, and powdered sugar. Also, I had the best server here. Request Ashley!!!
google avatar

Samantha L.

Yelp
This was delicious! Would come back here in a heartbeat. I'd share a picture of the food, but it's gone. We had a party of 14 and Aly killed it. Was extremely attentive and very friendly. Drinks were great, and atmosphere was fun!! 10/10 recommend! Ask for Aly!!

Veronica F.

Yelp
Bar service lacking. Food was meh. Bartender couldn't keep beer order straight. My burger was charred burnt.. hubbys sliders were awful. Used to be good...
google avatar

Donna P.

Yelp
Great food and drinks. We had a great time. Not many GF options but definitely found some great food on the menu. We had a large group and everyone loved their meals. Doggie friendly. Great atmosphere and we sat outside. Our waitress was amazing. Excellent drink menu. We really had fun.
google avatar

Shelley L.

Yelp
This place has such life to it and appeals to any one at any age. I loved seeing families to singles to couples on a date to family get-togethers. It has something for everyone. Plenty of different types of seating: bar, high tops, regular tables, group seats. Erica was an absolutely delight - so glad we got her for our last meal in the area before going home. Nachos - giant platter and great for sharing at the table. Generous portion of filling and cheese. Chicken wings - decent. Nothing extraordinary here but good option for kids that want to eat chicken. Sliders - good and standard as well. Good sharing portion for our little family. Overall, the vibe and atmosphere was fun and lively with the live music. The bathroom is large and great for those that have little kids and you need plenty of space to help them maneuver. Place gets packed quick so go early if you can.
google avatar

Whitney D.

Yelp
One of the best breweries I have been too! I was soo excited to come check this one off my list. They have a wonderful back area with plenty of open space. It included picnic benches, lawn chairs, hammocks, and kids play stuff. And some interesting game where you have to try and swing the rope onto a little hook. Now on to the other great news about this place. Their food for a brewery was delicious! I had a very filling salad which is pictured below. We also had flights of beer since we all wanted to try different flavors. All were great!
google avatar

Nikita D.

Yelp
If you're looking for a chill place to hang out after a day at the beach this is it! There are a wide variety of games outside for children of all ages to play with. I loved the backyard theme of outdoor area and it is very family friendly. The nachos are a huge portion and was easily shared between 5 people. It could easily be ordered as an entree to be shared by two people. Our food was brought out in a timely manner and we had no issues with the wait staff. The honey chicken sandwich was delicious if you like a sweet and savory combination however the chicken I received was a little on the overcooked side but still tasted good.

Regan T.

Yelp
Wow!! So glad we stopped in tonight! We were worried there may be a wait on a Friday night, but we were seated within a reasonable time. It started raining but we were immediately offered seating indoors! Our server was really friendly and attentive All of us loved our drinks and food We especially recommend the street corn shrimp, pulled pork sandwich, and burger. We filled up on dinner but couldn't leave without sharing the smoreo brownie sundae!! A 10/10 experience
google avatar

Marie X.

Yelp
A really cute and different place! We sat in the patio which did feel a bit like sitting in someone's backyard. They had some cornhole boards set up, playground equipment for the kids, and we even had a little frog hop by. Since I'm more into cocktails or wine than beer, a brewery might not be an excellent choice but I'm still glad we went. Unfortunately, neither my dinner companion nor I loved our drinks. We ordered the Orange Bourbon Crush and the Brand New Day Tropical Punch Sangria. Mine was just like orange juice which was, after all, the main ingredient. His had ale in it which was unexpected. We should have asked the server to give us more time when we decided against our first drinks... also because we didn't realize they were beer-based. Oh well. I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad, substituting fried chicken and ranch dressing. It was really good! I especially liked the fried chicken. My companion had the Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwich, which was good but he didn't like his as much as I liked mine. Interesting fries; like potato skins...good. As I mentioned, I liked the decor and theme. I'm not local but I'd definitely go back if I were. Next time, though, I'd sit inside (which is very open air) to avoid flies and mosquitos.
google avatar

Nisha B.

Yelp
I haven't been here in Years!!! But came to the Ferry and this spot was like 5 minutes off the exit that you need to get to the Ferry. Plenty of free parking spaces. I had the nachos! It was a huge helping, with added Guac. Bartenders were really nice. Outdoor seating and games.

Jenna D.

Yelp
Food was good, nice play area for the kids, seated quickly even though it was busy. Husband liked the beer. Felt like you were dining in someone's backyard in a good way; very family and dog friendly. Great spot to stop on vacation!

Yelp
Three stars on the food but the location experience bumps it up to four stars. Yes, they have beer. The flights made me happy, and the selection is pretty wide indeed. Coming for a latish lunch, the live entertainment was setting up on the small stage inside and that was a nice add at a volume that didn't kill conversation which was great. I think the real bonus for the location is the outdoor space, which seems awesome, but no tables were available out there at the moment I was there. However, if you are going to be a brewery with food, you still need to make it right on the food side too and that is where this place could improve. Well, at least on the one dish that was on the table... Longboard Nachos - 14" pan covered end to end with chips, melty cheese, pico, corn & black bean salad, chipotle crema, pickled jalapeños, scoop of sour cream. (With pulled pork on the side) One would think of all the selections this would be outstanding at a place like this, and it turned out to be average at best.

Mason M.

Yelp
Pretty mid and probably wouldn't go again. Service wasn't very good and the food was ok, nothing amazing

Katie M.

Yelp
Amanda F. was amazing! She was pleasant and attentive. As always, great beers and delicious food!

Michael D.

Yelp
Great food, service and a fun space for kids of all ages. We had the pulled pork and it was delicious. Didn't try the beer at lunch time but will come back another evening.

Yelp
Always a great stop. Fun environment, great beer, good food, and friendly staff. The nachos are huge. We've enjoyed everything we've had.

Yelp
My family stopped in at Crooked Hammock Brewery on the way to Rehoboth. This review is just for the food. The kids liked the chicken tenders and hot dog along with the French fries and fruit. The salmon salad is kind of awful. Who in their right mind does a heavy drizzle of mayo over a salad? That is awful. This isn't an Emily Mariko salmon rice bowl. It totally messed up the flavor balance plus the salmon was super fishy. I sent it back and got the Cobb Salad and the dressing it came with was a bad match, so I swapped with their ranch. It was decent. My husband was fairly pleased with the grilled meatloaf, but he felt it was too ketchup forward. Overall, the service was good, but slow. The food only mediocre. I ordered Chardonnay at a brewery but they could at least select one that tastes good for non beer drinkers...

Yelp
After spending a day at the beach decided to have dinner at Crooked Hammock. It was crowded, but I added my name to the wait list- party of 2. About 30 minutes later I received a text that my table was ready, we were seated on the patio. Donna greeted us right away, she was full of energy and load of fun. There's plenty of beer to choose from in various sizes. I tried the 4oz Beach Escape and my friend had a cocktail. For our meals I ordered the Sticky Lager Grilled Chicken which was probably enough for 2, but I ate it all. My friend ordered the BLT served with fries. Note, this is a pet and kid friendly restataunt-keep that in mind if you're looking for a different type of dining experience. There are hammocks, cornhole and other games in the backyard.

Yelp
Totally satisfied with this brewery. W head lunch there. Crab dip with pretzel nuggets was great and would do again for sure. The top surprise was the cheese burger with peach jam on it. Damn good mix of burger, jam, jalapeño cheese and bacon. Also nice touch with the fries!

Yelp
Love Crooked hammock . The atmosphere and ambiance is really laidback and cool . Trivia night in Tuesday is a lot of fun

Yelp
Great good, good beer, friendly service, and dog friendly! This has become my favorite place when we're in the area!
