The Best Restaurants for Juicy Lucy Burgers in Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"Crooked Pint runs a chain of restaurants across Minnesota, Wisconsin, Arizona, and the Dakotas, and offers a variety of respectable Juicy Lucys. One you likely won’t find elsewhere in the Cities is the Poutine Lucy, which is stuffed with American cheese, then topped with more American cheese, plus chopped bacon, pub fries, cheese curds, and beef gravy." - Serena Maria Daniels

We visited with a party of 3 on a Wed evening. I was surprised that the place was basically empty. At 1st that made me assume the worst and think locals must not like it. We are from Chicago and after our visit to Mall of America dropped in here for some food and drinks. To our surprise everything was AMAZING. The menu prices were much lower than I expected considering the trendy downtown location. The portions were plenty large enough for me (43 year old male 235lbs). The reviewer talking about small portions for the price, must not get out very much. We were pleasantly surprised. If ever in the area, I will go back.

Google
Great restaurant i would go again to try more of their burgers. To start off i orderd 2 of the same cocktails but i do not remember the name which tells you it was good. I had The Mad pepper lucy with the Fried Cheese Curds. The Mad pepper was delicious, had a little kick to it because of the jalapenos and the blue cheese was a great addition. One note about the burger is that the i didn’t get any cheese oozing out of the burger. The cheese curds were great, i wished it had a dipping sauce and not hot sauce but the curds were able to survive on its own. The waffle fries, Delicious and crisp and the Golden BBQ Chicken Tenders which reminded me of the honey wings from Dallas BBQ was also delicious and crisp with a good coating. The foot traffic was quiet at the time i got there but was good because service came quick. I recommend!

Google
Best juicy Lucy's! And they have a different one every month. They have great service, especially Megan! A new feature is the Cajun onion rings and they are to die for. Also, the tater tot hot dish is really good. Although the turkey burger isn't on the menu anymore, you can still get it. You just need to request it.

Google
Hip pub with a nice selection of brews and food. Split the nachos with my wife which had a good mix of chicken, tomatoes, queso, salsa and sour cream to add on. Had a summer Shandy brew which was hitting the spot after hiking around Minneapolis. Great spot to check out when in the area.

Google
This is a proper pub-style bar. The atmosphere is fantastic, the staff are great, and the food is very tasty. I highly recommend the breakfast sandwich, especially after having a few drinks!

Google
Hard to believe they had an award winning Juicy Lucy. Went to Matt's the next day and it was worlds better. Someone else ordered a pot pie and it was nothing special either. The tots were fun and they have a great beer list.

Google
We enjoy this location for the Crooked Pint. It is our favorite location of the ones we have been to. The bar area upstairs is small but fun. For such a tight space they have managed to put in quite a few screen for sports fan. They also have a large screen projection. This location has a great variety of beers on tap. We also enjoy their Lucy of the month. Crooked Pint is one of my favorite places to get a Lucy burger and their rewards program makes eating there even more worth while.

Had a great Lucy for dinner with stuffed tater tots. Jolyse was a great server

Yelp
Crooked Pint Ale House is a fun spot in downtown Chaska to enjoy good drinks, food & some entertainment! It's very spacious and looks on to the curling center which is really fun and unique. Our group of 6 came on a Friday evening and were seated and served right away despite it being pretty busy which we were impressed with. They are known for their tots and Juicy Lucy burgers which were both very impressive. The cheese was warm and oozing out after the first couple of bites. Both individuals who ordered the burgers said they would definitely order again! I was looking forward to trying the tater tots but found that they have some meat in them so I wasn't able to try them out. However, those within our group that did really seemed to enjoy them. The Margherita flatbread was just okay. It was a bit dry and not super flavorful but got the job done. Their drink menu was very expansive with a good selection of beers, ciders, and cocktails. It also was fun to be able to look on to the curling center!

Yelp
We ordered delivery from here to our hotel. The order was done on a weeknight close to their closing time. I got a Reuben with fries. The Reuben flavor was really good, the only thing was that the rye was a little bit dry/burnt. The fries it came with were delicious, I just wish they had ketchup on the side. My friend ordered some chicken tenders. They only ok. We also had some carrots and celery that we ordered but they never came and we were unable to call the business to let them know. All in all, food is average. I would definitely go with their Reuben over the chicken though.

Yelp
Four of us had dinner here. The beer and cider selection was impressive- even to a non beer drinker. We got a flatbread for the table and it was good. I got the bourbon cranberry chicken salad. I wanted a Lucy but I had had a burger for lunch. The bowl had way too much dressing but ingredients were fresh. Next time I would ask for the dressing on the side. To e guys liked their Lucy. I like my lichee-tini drink. Garnish was very cool.

Yelp
Stopped in here for lunch and found plenty of space at the bar. There were a large amount of beers available and their drinks specials were nice as well. We decided to share the juicy Lucy and oh my it was delicious! Hot and so much flavor. Would go back again just for this dish!

Yelp
Stopped by with a large group. Excellent service, Matilda handled a group of 18 like a pro! Food was on point, and their cookie dessert was unbelievable! They are know for their Lucy's, my salmon was delish!

Yelp
I love myself a bbq bacon burger, and Crooked Pint makes a great one! Ordered the Wrangler Lucy ($15) to go and was quite pleased that the haystack onions on the burger and side onion rings stayed crispy in the box on my drive home. I love that the burger is stuffed with jalapeños in addition to the cheese, and as a cheese lover, I personally liked that there was cheese both in and on the burger. The sauce was delicious without being overpowering, and the bacon was tasty too. As for the totchos ($13), this is my big "hear me out." I LOVED these. Even though they may not look like much at first glance, this photo does NOT do them justice. I'm used to a "quantity over quality totcho," with a lot of cheap tots drenched in cheap toppings (which I do love as much as the next guy!) but the flavor on these is next level and truly opened my eyes to what a totcho could be. The housemade "jumbo tots" hugely live up to their name, and come stuffed with cheese and serrano for a flavor bomb in the tots themselves, and the green onions, bacon, and cheese on top pair perfectly. I also want to point out their deals! On Wednesday for example, they've got a daily deal of $2 off Lucys and burgers, and on Thursdays, you can get a classic Lucy with waffle fries for $10. They also have a happy hour on weeknights from 3-6p and 9:30p-close where you can get $2 off several appetizers (and good deals on drinks too). Love when a restaurant has affordable options like that.

Yelp
Great food (wings, onion rings and Honey Sriracha Salmon salad) and great beer. Server was amazing.

Yelp
I ordered the lobster melt with no bread. I got a COLD lump of food. It wasn't even like warm. The only hot thing was the cheese curds! The server offered to have the redone. I said I'll take it & reheat myself. When I asked for a takeout box, that was her clue to bring me the check. I took her over 30 mins to bring me the bill. The place wasn't busy! Not a happy camper!

Yelp
We ask for suggestion for a quick lunch at our hotel and they suggested the crooked pint. Our server was super friendly and gave us suggestions including what we should not have off the menu. I had fruit and chicken salad, which was delicious. One of the other guests had the peanut butter burger, which she said was wonderful. This is a bar and the ambience bar like. Great place to go anytime of day

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a normal Thursday evening around 6pm. Not too busy at all. We sat at a booth and our server , who was also the bartender, came to take our order. We ordered 2 things, a burger and some wings. I noticed he wasn't writing anything down, okay that's fine.. 40 mins later we are still waiting and the bartender/server notices us- comes and says sorry they didn't have your order up on the tab in the back. He then double checks our order and recites something completely wrong. How incompetent can one person be.. ? Never coming back here. Pro tip: if you're a server , start writing when people say what they want to eat.

Yelp
I cannot say enough how great this food & service was. We had 24 adults & kids and everything was perfect. The food was fresh , hot, & delectable.

Yelp
First time (plan to come back next time I'm in MN) had my eye on a few food items and dranks!! Enjoy a nice walk to Stone Arch Bridge (park area by the water sorry not from the area) Food: Generous portions definitely will fill you up!! Walleye Sandwich: First time I had walleye! It was perfectly fried and tasty!! Got the seasonal salad (arugula strawberry) instead of fries... delicious!! Tacos: my mom enjoyed them! Drinks: no complaints heavy handed on the liquor I don't remember the cocktail I had but it was so refreshing (especially on a 95 degree day) and mom enjoyed her nitro stout (possibly woolly). Service: fast & friendly Environment: typical bar, looks like a great place to watch sports games (Go Hawks / Go Mariners)

Yelp
Brunch date was the usual & good food but not very interesting...Service was ok. Bloody Mary was BLAND! Overall, a huge space w/ not so interesting food but an extensive beer, cider, drink menu. Go to drink but don't expect great food or service...

Yelp
Went here for appetizers and drinks and was disappointed with the food. We had Ellsworth Cheese Curds, the Ale House Nachos, and The Gigantic Pretzel. None of it was bad but I would not go back for the food. We happened to be there on a night when they were doing stand up (open mic) which was entertaining to say the least!

Yelp
Favorite little neighborhood pub within walking distance to me. They have a ton of TVs and almost always have space at the bar. Their bartenders are EXCELLENT, very fast and able to handle an extremely busy bar. The prices are a little high in my opinion, but if you sign up for their rewards you'll get free stuff from time to time.

Yelp
Great service and ambiance during the Twins game this weekend! The food was really great too! We had the Tochos and a Juicy Lucy! It was a wonderful experience, and we can't wait to come back when we have the chance!

Yelp
Not my favorite place- their poutine was too salty, I couldn't finish it. Good assortment of beers but very loud location with mediocre food

Yelp
We came here for a quick lunch before a Minnesota united game. It was a slow Saturday afternoon and was able to snag a seat very quickly. We started off with our usual cheese curds. These were fried to perfection and served with ranch. Really good but not the best cheese curds in Minny. When in Minnesota, we always order juicy lucys. My wife ordered their pepper jack juicy and I ordered their Beer Cheese Jucy. Similar to grovelands, they put cheese on the outside as well. While I love cheese, too much cheese will ruin a burger. I want to be able to taste the seasoning on the patty before the cheese starts dripping out. The beer cheese lucy was good, and although not traditional, it is still something I wouldn't hesitate ordering again. It came with habanero jack, bistro sauce, and stuffed with cheese, all in between a pretzel un. The burgers come with fries or you can upgrade to tater tots for a premium price. My dumbass ordered Tots instead of fries. While very delicious, it is not worth the extra they are charging. I've tried some pretty good juicys, I'm more of a traditional juicy Lucy guy and don't think I'll return on my next trip to Minnesota.

Yelp
I'm not going to lie, the parking can be a nightmare. But other than that, fun sports bar to visit & try a few beers. We visited for trivia on a Wednesday and somehow snagged a spot in the parking lot before almost accidentally turning down the wrong way on a one way street. Whew. Half our party arrived before the others (4 of us total) and they sat us even though the sign says you need your entire party to sit. I was happy for that since we were much earlier than the others. I picked out a flight ($12) from their tap list. I wish that they could use all the beers for the flights, but I'm sure there's some good reason for not including all of them. My favorite in my flight was the Indeed Strawberry Fields and unfortunately I spilled almost all of it immediately after I took my first sip. My husband ran and got a rag from the bar to sop it up AND they gave me a new little flight glass of it, which was very nice of them. I appreciated that a lot. Crooked Pint has daily specials and Wednesday's was $2 off burgers. I love burgers but didn't want a Lucy, so opted for the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. Wowwww it was SO good. I also got the seasonal salad as my side instead of the fries -- it was a strawberry almond salad and it was absolutely delicious. The garlic fries were also great. Editing to add because I forgot to say -- the Nasvhille Hot Chicken Sandwich was not "Minnesota Hot" (aka not hot), which I find to be really disappointing when I order something spicy. This was legitimately and satisfyingly spicy and DELICIOUS. I wish I had saved some to take home and eat later. Like, wow.

Yelp
Updated review after a while of not visiting Crooked Pint - I came with a friend on Wednesday for an earlier dinner around 5:30 and we were seated right away. Our waitress was really nice and efficient, which was helpful for us since we were going to a show at 7. I had the grilled clubhouse sandwich with regular pub fries and it was so yummy. I remember this spot having smaller portions sizes and that still holds true for my dinner. It was a perfect size for me, but I'm a small bit person and I could see someone still being hungry after the sandwich I ordered. I do really like that it was cut into fourths - this made for a much easier eating experience. Usually the things in my sandwich will fall out one end, but that didn't happen! Will definitely visit this spot again when I'm in the downtown area.

Yelp
My friends and family came here before the Ed Sheeran concert at the U.S. Bank Stadium so we had to wait an hour before being seated. Everyone waiting at or around the bar were packed liked sardines. It was very loud inside. I got the totcho lucy burger and it was so delicious. I ate every bite of the burger and fries. My friends and family also got wings, another burger, chips and queso, parmesan-garlic fries, and fish and chips. The parmesan-garlic fries were too garlicky. The chips and queso were interesting. Service was good even with how busy it was.

Yelp
We came here for some dinner and a couple drinks before the Eras tour at U.S. Bank stadium. It's close enough to walk to the stadium after dinner but also far enough away to get a little away from the crowds at a big show. While we were waiting for seating, we got some drinks at the upper bar, where the bartender was a little rude (she seemed annoyed that I asked for a suggestion), but it was a busy night so she might have just been a little out of sorts due to the crowds. We had the wings and shared the giant tots as an appetizer for the group. The wings were great! I had the Nashville Hot wings and while not super spicy they had a little kick to them. The tots were definitely the star, they're giant tots, so I wasn't sure if they'd be good or not, but they blew us away. They had a cheesy smoky interior and crispy outside. I'd definitely go back just for these. Prices were pretty typical, nothing too crazy, they had a few good specials for the show but all in all pretty standard! I would definitely go back!
google avatar

Melanie O.

Yelp
Second time here and I've enjoyed it both times! Service is a little slow, as it seems they don't always have enough people working but the food came out quick once we ordered and was very tasty! Tonight I had the shrimp tacos, which didn't blow me out of the water but they were pretty good. The flavor could have been more evenly distributed throughout the tacos. My husband had a burger and garlic fries and WOW! The burger was juicy and SO flavorful. The fries were perfectly crispy and had great flavor. We split some cheese curds as an appetizer and they are a must! Good happy hour deals as well. Worth a stop!

Brian H.

Yelp
Food and service were above average. Ordered the cheese curds and then had one of the juicy Lucy's, well put together and was tasty. Price was reasonable. We had a great server and had the place to ourselves in mid afternoon.
google avatar

Alan B.

Yelp
I ordered a jalapeño burger and cheese curds on the side the burger was very tasty but when I ordered side of cheese curds there was very little in my box when it arrived at the house with door dash very disappointed in the amount should have been more quantity won't be ordering from this place anymore.
google avatar

Jimmy D.

Yelp
It was a really hot day when I walked in hoping to get a beer. There's a clear sign to wait for host to seat you. I waited long enough where going back into the humidity seemed like the better option than waiting to be seated. It's not like it was busy either, just no one bothered.
google avatar

LaBreonna B.

Yelp
Good drinks for sure and close if you're downtown. I'm not a fan of the menu yet, everything lacks a flavor.
google avatar

Charlie P.

Yelp
We love going here for trivia on Wednesdays! It's a big restaurant with many seating options. There is a small parking lot or street parking. The food is good classic bar food, but also has other options like bowls, some Mexican dishes. They have fun cocktails with quite a lot of variety. Our server Alyssa was amazing! She was very attentive, friendly, and offered great food suggestions. It is family friendly as well
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Pretty busy on a Friday night. Sports bar vibe. I went with the Friday night Fish and Chips which was crispy and hot. Good fries. My friend had the Lucy Burger and said it was good also. Good beer selection. Pricey.
google avatar

Steve B.

Yelp
Great beer selection, Food is really good too! Atmosphere is fun with spirits on TVs. Bartender Kait is the best EVER!

Andy G.

Yelp
Meghan is honestly amazing and I've never felt so welcomed in an establishment! Hands down going back and she makes a killer martini!
google avatar

Yelp
Good energy overall with good drinks. (Didn't try food this time). Service isn't bad, but didn't stand out. (Hard to be upset about adequate service so no negative energy intended here, I just wouldn't want to lie and say "great service"). Would go back still if in the area. DRINKS: Good drinks that are slightly pricey (but understandable). ATMOSPHERE: Sports bar energy with comfortable tables and chairs. And a nice bar area. SERVICE: Wasn't too friendly but also wasn't bad. Definitely an fine experience. PARKING: Didn't park this time but there's a small lot out front.

Yelp
My boy and I were hungry after a long day! Remembered I had a Groupon and decided to use it tonight. Parking lot is tight! Only other parking is on the street with parking meters. The ambience is typical pub feel...dark lighting but the spacing is nice and comfy, open. The bar is the center of it all.I believe they have tons of different flavored beer on tap.So if one is thirsty there is no issue with being watered. My boy ordered the wrangler Lucy... I ordered the beer cheese Lucy. My burger came on a pretzel bun which was meh! My son said his burger was pretty good.I trust his opinion. The wings were kind of dry but they have pretty decent flavor...really enjoyed the french fries which came as a side. Food was hot and our waitress Matilda was nice. The food was just OK! I was not super impressed but did leave satisfied!
google avatar

Jeffrey F.

Yelp
Came here for a juicy Lucy and their special tater tots. Nothing to write home about the Jucy. Lucy was fair and they did not ask me how I wanted it cooked so it came in medium well which was a little more than I like my burger. The tater tot's were stuffed with bacon and scallions and were a little too mashed potato like for my taste. Also, oddly enough, my beer was not ice cold for some reason so it didn't go down quite right with the burger cardless it was a decent place and I will probably come back and try something else.
google avatar

Candie L.

Yelp
Great food and service. Best place to have a juicy Lucy. Service was fast and courteous. Juicy Lucy was delicious and the side salad was really filling and creative.

Yelp
Ordered through DoorDash due to covid, my laziness and overall thought it was ok, the food was a bit cold by the time we got it- which was a bit of a boomer. I got the classic lucy burger with fries, my partner got the Turkey burger with cheese curds and we also got some boneless wings to share. For me the classic Lucy wasn't anything special but it came with a very generous amount of fries which I liked even if they were a little soggy. My partner really enjoyed his Turkey burger and would recommend that. We both thought the boneless wings in the Nashville Hot sauce was alright- it wasn't spicy but I did like how there was no breading on it. The cheese curds on the other hand was no longer melt in your mouth and too cold by the time we got it. Maybe it was the time from delivery to us, but we've ordered from other places near by and didn't have much of an issue with cold food before.
google avatar

Yelp
Came for a conference and we just needed extra food and booze. Since CPAH was directly across the street it was a win win food was good. Drinks were great. I ordered fish tacos and they came with chips and salsa. Someone ordered the chili which they said was good. I think there were more fish tacos ordered. Nobody complained. Atmosphere was very chill and casual.. a place to come let your hair down. I'd return..

Yelp
Matt's Bar (likely) invented the Juicy Lucy, let's just get that straight... but the Crooked Pint might be cookin' up a better one Or 9, because they have an ENTIRE MENU SECTION just for different kinds of Lucys. Nothing cheesy about that except the smile it brings :) Take a peak at this cheese leak Beer Cheese Lucy -- Creamy beer cheese sauce with Grain Belt Premium, served on a pretzel bun, topped with bacon, bistro sauce, haystack onions, and a slice of habanero jack cheese and a side of fries From The Crooked Pint Ale House on Washington and Fifth in Minneapolis This burger might be made of ground beef, but the elevated ingredients take you on a flight to flavor town. Cheese within and atop, good luck trying to stop taking bites! A rich bistro sauce adds to the indulgence, and what would a burger be without bacon and fried onions? Throw it all on a pretzel bun for a fun twist to this novel take on a bar classic This was phenomenal! 10/10. But it certainly requires a strong craving for queso... SO many thanks to my man Andy for bringing us to a bar of benevolent burger-dom! I'd go back more than once for the multitude of creative menu selections
google avatar

Tamara G.

Yelp
We had a great lunch at the Crooked Pint before leaving Minneapolis. Juicy Lucy with Grain Belt beer cheese, hot fries and local IPA's. We were seated & served immediately. Menu had a lot of decent choices. Bloody Mary's come with sausage & a pickle and a beer chaser. The downstairs area was closed, but upstairs was open. There is a small parking lot. We took an Uber.

Yelp
The location makes this establishment a convenient place for drinks/meals before events. As you walk in, you're greeted by hostesses and waitresses that give the midwestern friendly vibe. I felt the hospitable warmth along with the smell of beer and burgers, it's intoxicating! With the 311 show starting at 7, I posted up at the bar @ 520, I got my black IPA and knew I wanted a juicy lucy but which one? Don't like American cheese (processed garbage if you ask me) and the other burgers looked too exotic. Went with the pepper jack juicy lucy which was delicious. The gooeyness of the cheese mixed with the burger grease is what food orgasms are made of. While there are probably better places to get a juicy lucy in the twin cities, this one was solid for a newbie like myself. While I look forward to tasting more juicy lucy's at other joints, I wouldn't mind coming back here for pre-gaming or post eventing. Never knew I would enjoy the Twin Cities that much!
google avatar

Gygy S.

Yelp
First time stopping here. We tried the totchos, jalapeño juicy Lucy and the boneless chicken wings. The totchos were a little soggy but had good flavor. I wasnt a fan of the burger had zero flavor and very dry. French fries had good flavor and the boneless chicken wings were very good. The waitress was very helpful with all of our questions. Ambiance is typical sports bar feel. Cleanliness was good. We would come back again.
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
Good food here, more of a bar sceen than a restaurant. Nice pictures all over the place though. I went for the Juicy Lucy, a home town specialty in the area. Wasn't head over heals with it and it is super dangerous. You would take a bite and get hit with scalding cheese. You could poke somebody's eye out with that thing. Anyway, good food.
google avatar

Aaron D.

Yelp
Nice little pub in walking distance from the hotel I was stay at this week. They have a nice pub atmosphere with plenty of TVs to watch the games that are on while you eat. The service was outstanding and so was the food. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that is looking for good food while they relax and watch a game on one of there many TVs.
google avatar

Josh N.

Yelp
The downtown location is amazing. They have incredible juicy lucys, great drinks, and a fun atmosphere (especially upstairs in the bar area). We like exploring the menu, but often come back to the Korean Wings, the Wrangler Lucy, the Stars and Stripes Burger, and the Buffalo Trace Manhattan. The long-time servers and bartenders are really good at their jobs and are genuinely nice. Although we usually eat at the restaurant, we've also had great luck with pickup and delivery orders.
google avatar

Robert P.

Yelp
We came here before a play at the Guthrie because we were craving a burger and because I never tried a Juicy Lucy. While I had nothing to compare it to, it was delicious. But the tator tots were the reason for the five stars. They were unbelievable! Crisp on the outside hot and soft while cheesy on the inside. My only regret, not ordering an extra side of them. We'll be back! Oh and the giant tv screen was great to catch the end of nail biting football game!

Yelp
Crooked Pint Ale House is fine. I wanted to grab a quick bite before a show and decided to get a seat at the bar. It's got your typical sports bar atmosphere. Loud music, TVs, and drink/food specials. Lots of staff congregating by the bar and it was kind of like you, as the customer, were an afterthought. I got the Thursday special which was one of their classic Lucys with pepper jack cheese and pub fries. I topped it off with a cider on tap. It was fine. The burger wasn't super flavorful or very hot. The fries were good though. I'm not sure Crooked Pint is a place you come to be wowed. The food is standard, the service was okay, and the atmosphere is overly loud. If you're in a hurry and just looking for a quick meal, Crooked Pint is fine.

Yelp
This was our first visit here and once we found the place it was fabulous! We didn't realize it is IN the Curling Center. The décor is sports bar nice. Dark woods and the friendly staff make the place warm and welcoming. What really sets the bar apart is the wall of windows looking out to the curling lanes! Super fun to watch the locals shooting the rock and sweeping away. The food was good. Not the best fries, but, the amazing Sloppy Joe more then made up for it!

Yelp
Quality sports bar/restaurant located right next to the Vikings stadium, within walking distance. It has plenty of craft beers on tap, and plenty mixed drinks as well. There's several TVs available to watch many different sports games, and ample seating, both at the bar and at tables and booths. I didn't get to try any food, but it looked good from what I saw being served. Bartenders were all friendly, and I got to try 2 beers that I hadn't had before. Ideal spot for meeting up before/after Vikings game, or if you're a craft beer fan. Located within walking distance of the blue and green line US Bank Stadium stop as well, and near several other downtown spots so it'd be ideal to pair with other places in the area if you were wanting to check out other bars or breweries.
