Crop Circle is an eatery you can easily miss if you are walking too fast on MacDougal Street, but it is one that should not be missed. Crop Circle serves up a variety of Guokui, stuffed Chinese flatbreads. the interior is welcoming, organized well, and superclean—there’s a few tables with seats and the order counter. there’s some cool art drawn on bags. don’t fret if there are no seats bc Washington Square Park is just a block or two away so you can sit, eat, and people watch.
been to Crop Circle twice and each visit did not disappoint. the “Guokui” menu has savory, sweet, and vegetarian options for all. the guokui is served piping hot—the flatbread is large, crispy, puffy, soft and delicious. the flatbread is filled with a thin layer of filling, and topped with sesame seeds. had the “Spicy Beef” as well as “Cajun Chicken.” both guokui were really good and savory, fatty smooth, full of bread carbs. and a satisfying street food /snack. i really like the “Spicy Beef” as it had a nice kick of heat to eat. the fillings are spread throughout the crispy bread, and the dough is crunchy soft and fatty goodness. the guokui takes about 10-15 minutes to make and it’s totally worth the wait. the guokui is a great snack item when you don’t want a full meal or just want to share a bite with friends. each guokui, $8.75 + tax + tip
the staff is really friendly and works hard.
