Where to Celebrate Pride in New Orleans in June and Beyond

"Crossing Bar, which calls itself “the best gay straight food serving bar in New Orleans,” has been a previous host for Grrlspot dance parties and regular RuPaul’s Drag Race viewing parties, Saints game watch parties, and pop-ups. It’s traditionally a big part of New Orleans Pride celebrations, and this year should be no different — revelers can usually count on the annual Beach Party here." - Adriana Lopez, Clair Lorell

Just walking by, I glanced at the menu posted outside and decided to go in. Sat around the bar. The bartender walked over as soon as I sat down with a menu. I had the Butter Burger with fries, a beer and a water. They weren't very busy so the food came out within about 8 mins. That butter burger was really good. Glad I noticed this place as I was walking by.

Google
Quite a nice little place. While it wasn't busy at lunchtime on a Thursday, it gives off great chill vibes and can only imagine how busy it would be on weekend nights. Daily burger specials are a real value for the area, I've definitely paid more for less. Booths, tables, and bar seating. No smoking inside and 21+ to enjoy their offerings. Traditional restrooms as well as uni-sex. Looking forward to popping in on some other weekend to see the change in atmosphere and energy.

Second Tuesday in a row I got ignored for 10 to 15 minutes. I wanted a drink and food before work, never even got acknowledged. Most nights staff is attentive. Do not go on Tuesday, I'll find another place!

Google
DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR!!!!!! LGBTQ friendly but not to the blacks at all… stay away!!!! If you are white you may be ok but not black we came from out of town and the bartender was so rude and not welcoming making us feel as you guys don’t want any black peoples at this bar!!

Google
Bartenders are the best....Matt,Q,Andy,Kevin were all awesome, food was good...it was a welcoming oasis, away from the cacophony of noise,on Bourbon Street

Google
Great bar! Very friendly bartenders, good prices and great ambiance! The burgers were outstanding!

Good drinks, a friendly environment, and delicious food! You do have to be assertive when it comes to ordering as opposed to sitting silently after coming in and expecting service, however.

Google
Thought it was an interesting place so stopped in on a Saturday night for a burger. Can you believe NO COOK ON A SATURDAY NIGHT. very disappointed, this place isn't going to last much longer at this rate. To the bartender, look for another job, you are too good for this place.

Yelp
Went there for a quick drink. The restrooms were cool and the place had a good vibe to it. Mmm thingies.

Yelp
Attended a wonderful Southern Decadence event last night, amazing to see so many people out supporting the community. WTF up with the guy telling everyone to be quiet? Long winded and offensive in his words. Multiple people not so happy with his interaction with the audience.

Yelp
Went there to have some drinks and watch the Super Bowl. Far side of the bar opened up and we took the space. After 15 mins dudes showed up and said "those are our seats." We question that, and point out these seats were vacant. Bartender says "he's a manager here and also you are blocking my (service door)) and if you complain we will throw you out." We obliged and promptly told him to We will save you the trouble. Do much for the Mardi Gras spirit- F this place. FYI employees don't get to claim spots at the bar you idiots- that's for customers who will tip you.

Yelp
Jerrod is one of the most amazing, responsive, and attentive bartenders I've ever had the pleasure to come in contact with. Withholding all personal shitty day information, he felt the vibe and put in every effort to completely change that around for me. If I could live here today without him getting off work, I would. This customer service and developing friendship cannot be matched by typical nola bartenders; he exceeds any and all expectations. I have worked in the French Quarter for 14 years, and I will never regularly visit another place and not recommend him to any and every person I can. It takes one to know one. This is one amazing fucking dude.

Yelp
Cool place. Friendly, good food, good drinks. Mostly young guys, but how's that bad?

Yelp
They have TouchTunes but turn it off if you play something they don't like. We were told that the jukebox is always turned off after 7 pm! It was 5 pm, we played Jenni Rivera and the jukebox was paused and we were not allowed to play anything else! This bar is definitely racist towards Mexican and Hispanic culture

Yelp
This place is awful. They discriminated against me and my husband the moment we walked into the door. We immediately felt unwelcome. Despite this we stayed and attempted to give it a chance because of the good reviews. My husband inquired on the status of our food order after waiting for more than 40 minutes. The manager, Andy immediately went off on my husband and made a scene by throwing his arms in the air, acting completely over the top. After an hour, we still didn't have food. If I could give this place zero stars I would. After the manager made a scene he completely avoided us and never even offered us a cup of water or a refill on our drink. Andy really shouldn't even be a manager because he's obviously too high strung and neurotic. Managers should be able to handle stress and he cannot. If you aren't a regular here, please beware they will treat you poorly and if your skin isn't white, don't even bother here.

Grace L.

Yelp
Everyone here was so welcoming and friendly! Pop divas blasting on the TV - everyone singing along with cheap drinks - loved popping in -- Happy pride, y'all!!

Chris S.

Yelp
My friend & I were rudely ignored by all the bartenders in this place. They looked at us both, then proceeded to turn their backs to us & then take care of people who sat themselves long after we did. We waited for 15 minutes & no one could be bothered to even acknowledge us. If you're into a cliquey bar with garbage staff who have zero customer service skills, then you'll love this shack.

Yelp
This is, without a doubt, one of the cleanest bars in the Quarter. Seriously, everything from the windows (lots of natural light) to the restrooms are spotlessly clean. Super friendly bartenders and a jukebox that you can control from an app on your phone. If you haven't been here in the past year, you owe it to yourself to stop by for a drink or two!

Yelp
Decided to give this bar another try after my bad experience, the manager is rude, talks down to her employees, heard staff talking badly about customers. This place is a joke. Do not go here!
google avatar

Rachel E.

Yelp
The best gay bar in New Orleans! Friendly, fun staff (especially Andy who is just the most welcoming bartender ever!) Great cocktails. Clean bathrooms. Good vibes all around. Come here first thing when you get to the French Quarter!
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly service, great drinks (the classic or the unique) very good pub fare. Super reasonable. You don't have to be gay to enjoy this joint.

Yelp
Came here for my 21st and J.J. was uh-mazing!! He really made my boyfriend and I feel welcomed. It's more of a local bar but as tourist we felt a warm welcome. A steady crowd and several "regulars" it really made the place lively yet a very chill environment. J.J. Even played "Happy Birthday" for me! It was so good that we came back for our last night in NOLA. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Stopped in this bar a few times during our stay in New Orleans, and Seth was our bartender. Outstanding service and and his drinks were great!! Would definitely recommend this place. Thanks from the 2 guys from Texas!!!

Yelp
Oops. Didn't know when I walked in for a beer and a break from the heat (along with the bourbon street crowd). Bartender couldn't have been nicer. Nice place needs a better beer selection. Cheers!

Val S.

Yelp
Stopped in a few times on vacation as our hotel was near by. Absolutely loved the music and drinks. Plus the service was great! All the bartenders were super friendly, but most of all, Isaac the door security was a joy to chat with. Even sang "Valerie" to me. He's the best!

Yelp
Hands down my new favorite spot! Chris our bartender was amazing!! More than accommodating and the service was superb!!! Great specials as well!!!
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
Very cute and CLEAN inside. Chris the bartender is super accommodating friendly and fun. Good happy hour specials which started at noon. $3 domestic and wells. Bathrooms are the cleanest in the city. A/C works perfectly. So comfortable!! Love this place!!

Yelp
Super friendly, LGBTQ place. I was a solo traveler for 5days and they welcomed me with open arms. Big shout out to Will, one of the bartenders there amazing person with such a big heart. Practically a local who recommended so many great things to do and places to see. A huge thanks to Andrew also, whom never met me before this trip but was able accommodate me for NYE when I called him a day before my trip. Super friendly staff. Amazing vibe. Keep killing it yall

Yelp
Shout out to Alicia for making the BEST double bacon cheeseburger in town! Great vibes, good people. High recommendations for a meetup spot, dining in, and going for drinks.

Yelp
Steampunk sport bar that seriously has the best priced drinks and cleanest establishment in the French Quarter.
google avatar

Alyssa D.

Yelp
Very nice and clean bar. Friendly staff and good customer service. A getaway from the craziness of Bourbon Street.

Yelp
I'm high on customer service and I'm a local/regular whom comes to the bar for Will (William) whom work AM shift to judge me and call himself putting his hand on me, because I haven't done anything to him over something that some told the individual. That's so unprofessional and as a service industry worker (minus: genital, race, epic background or etc. Respect goes both ways.....

Yelp
Seriously this is one of the drag queen capitals of the USA. I don't know how many times I have walked past this corner and seen quite a few drag queens hanging out outside. I usually walk past this corner between 7-9am and still see them outside the bar. The bar may serve some cheap drinks but at what cost to your personal self. I just walked by there at 5:20am and about 10 drag queens were arguing with each other right outside of the bar. Scary scene! Not the arguing but the lewdness of it all. Should I walk down another street? Not going to happen because my friend's garage is 80ft from this corner. You really do see it all in the Quarter!

Yelp
Love this bar.. and I'm not gay. The bartenders are fabulous. We were welcomed by the staff and clientele every single time we frequented this bar while visiting New Orleans. It is clean and happy! Keep an open mind, enjoy Nola and visit The Crossing. Honestly, the Crossing is one of my favorite places to frequent in NOLA... And the bathrooms are clean... just sayin'.

Yelp
Was in Nawlins( I would Love to move here). Just like the city, this bar was great and Andy and the other two bartenders were cool. Being remodeled, my vodka drink was $, which on my budget was awesome. Big t.v's surround the bar, and a/c works great. Love this place, if I lived there a def on my hang out

Yelp
Decent priced drinks and even a jukebox! However, this bar seems to cater to a host of very seedy characters. The bartenders are not very attentive. Actual customers seem to come second to the bartenders after they are done socializing with their friends. Who (surprise) are usually the seedy characters in the bar! Or after they are done preening themselves, or playing video games. The bar has been under construction for some time. The bar owner should consider rebuilding his work force as well.

Yelp
Door man is the rudest person EVER!! He TRIED to ID me for walking past the place, then got very argumentative with me when I refused to show him. I felt very unsafe with him attacking me even as I crossed the street. He then began walking across the street towards me as if to follow me, I had to walk off in a fast pace and hit a turn to get away! If thats how a door man acts I can only imagine how the other staff is. BE CAREFUL WHEN JUST WALKING PAST THIS PLACE .

Carolyn H.

Yelp
What a fun bar! it's very classy, clean, and comfortable, with a great vibe. My bartender Nick was very friendly and quick. I went there with a friend and we really enjoyed ourselves. The drinks were made just right, the service was prompt, and the prices were very reasonable--nothing like Bourbon Street bars. A lot of people there new each other and it's obvious it is a locals' favorite. The decorations are unique and all are Steampunk or New Orleans related. We decided to order food off the Bar menu and there was a good selection. We first shared an order of Totchos, which were hot and really, really good. Then my friend had a one-person-size flatbread pizza. I mustered up the strength to reesist the burger menu, which looked awesome, and opted for something healthier--a Chicken Caesar salad. The food was all delicious and we enjoyed the place so much we ended up spending over 3 hours there. Don't miss this place.

Yelp
This is my favorite bar in the French Quarter, bar none. That being said, the Double Play is definitely not for everyone. Do you like cheap pool, cheap drinks, and a nonstop menagerie of New Orleans freaks and people of the night, including but not limited to trannies, drag queens, dirty old men, juggalos, drug dealers, alcoholics, meth casualties, and off-duty Corner Pocket strippers? And do you like all of this in a low-rent sleazy dive sports bar atmosphere with several TVs tuned to sports or Golden Girls reruns? With jaded, world-weary bartenders who treat all of their customers - freaks and normals alike - with the same basic discourteous humanity? If that all sounds appealing to you, then by all means, visit the Double Play. But please be respectful. Don't come from out of town and camp out here tranny-spotting. This is not a place to stare at freaks. This is a place where you realize that you too are a freak, and your specific freakishness blends in seamlessly with the freakishness that surrounds you. No judgments. Everyone wants something. You want a drink. Why not drink at the Double Play?

Yelp
Seriously. It has it all. Dive scene. The two bartenders, Brad and Phillip, were life savers and gave us a great number of local places to check out. I highly, highly recommend stopping here, even if for just one drink. The daytime has a few creepers if you're young, but what dive doesn't? And they are all incredibly friendly! We ended up stopping here for a few drinks almost every day we were here. In addition to being friendly, the drinks were INCREDIBLY cheap! Plus its a drag, dive sports bar...what's not to like!?

Yelp
This bar has very solid pours and really good happy hour prices. Interesting crowd, but I wish they had the juke box on. Bartender was cool. We also came early so we didn't expect (or want) a crazy Bourbon Street experience. Kill some time here!

Yelp
This place was beyond interesting. It was like watching a reality tv show . At any given time I thought someone was going to pop up with a camera and say everything that was going on was staged.Fun to visit at least once.

Nambie S.

Yelp
Always a good time. Jukebox, strong drinks, and most interesting crowd in New Orleans:) This place is 24 hours and the best time to go in is any time after 1am. I started going here because my favorite bar down the block shut down and has def played a sufficient role in being its replacement. One of the bartenders claims he is from another planet....love him!

T W.

Yelp
I have been to a few bars in the French Quarter. The bar tender here was really rude and not really helpful when we asked about place to check out. Seams like somewhat of a decent place but I'd recommend the bar down the street. I WOULD NOT recommend this place.
