Great Adirondack store offering fishing and hunting merchandise. Some great quick food and craft beer. Gas station also. Seasonal ice cream stand next door

What a giant surprise this place was. Ticked away in this perfect little town is this gem. Country store, deli, pastries, ice cream, GIANT outdoor store, giant gun store, giant fishing store, enormous clothing store and sporting goods store all wrapped up into one. They literally have everything and anything you could need.

Exploring Chestertown from Above: A Drone Photographer's View of Crossroads Country Store As aerial photographers, we're always on the lookout for hidden gems that tell a unique story from the sky. Our recent trip to Chestertown, NY, led us to just such a place: the Crossroads Country Store. This isn't just a regular store; it's a staple of the community, a charming blend of history and small-town life that truly comes alive when viewed from a new perspective. From the ground, the Crossroads Country Store is a cozy, inviting building surrounded by the natural beauty of the Adirondacks. But from our drone's lens, a different picture emerged. We were able to capture the intricate details of the building's classic design and its vibrant, welcoming facade. The surrounding landscape, with its lush trees and scenic roadways, provided a stunning backdrop, making the store a focal point of the area. We focused on highlighting the store's unique position at an intersection, which gave us some fantastic angles to showcase its role as a true "crossroads" for locals and travelers alike. One of the most rewarding parts of this shoot was the challenge of capturing the store's rustic charm without losing the sense of the broader landscape. Our visit to the Crossroads Country Store was a great reminder of how even familiar places can reveal new layers of beauty and character from an aerial perspective. If you're ever in the Chestertown area, be sure to stop by and experience this charming spot for yourself.

This place is amazing, we have a camp near by that we’ve been going to for years and always stop by when we can. Everyone there is so kind and friendly. Also Their ice cream is delicious!!

Google
Great place.. but I noticed over the last 3 years...the store is getting crazy expensive! I am guessing to adjust to some of the wealth moving in. But for most... a $12 half a hoagie and a $6 spring water is getting ridiculous. My guess the owners are getting ready to retire and aren't afraid of pushing locals to Stewarts and the Dollar Store for their convenience.

Just moved to the area, and I love this place. A little expensive on some items but the staff is great. I rather over pay a little and support a great store than go online. I had a situation that I thought I left a product at the store as I could not find it when I got home. Called them and they said they would replace it going only on my word! I actually found the item under my seat a day later. Another time I made a larger purchase and they gave me 10 % off . The deli is great also! They have almost every thing you need. Honest good people from my experience! Got the sled and tent from them! Game changer for ice fishing

Google
Excellent store & knowledge staff. Tasty kitchen to serve you. Large selection of clothes & gifts. Fresh bait available & fishing equipment to choose from. Very nice, large selection of hunting items, ie rifles, hand guns & bows. Many varied hunting support items present. Also has tasty ice creme stand present & gas pumps also. Stop & enjoy all that Crossrods has to offer!

Google
Great selection of clothing, books, food, fishing and hunting gear, and food. Most things are ADK geared, even the selection of beer and hard cider. Small café inside with counter service. Some things are a little pricy, but all are good quality.

Yelp
For the outdoors enthusiast, Crossroads is the place to go in the area. Large selection of hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping equipment. I was very happy to see a section in the fishing area devoted to Hinckley spoons, including the renowned 88's which, to me, are the best lures for attracting lake trout. Crossroads also sells live bait. Their worms have more squirm, and their shiners are finer. Prices reasonable. A smallish breakfast area, but their sandwiches are eggggcellent. Even gas prices, considering Crossroads is a bit off the beaten path, are comparable to the Stewart's on rte 8. And my friend, Locomotive Breath, who never passes up an opportunity to patronize a bathroom, says the men's room is clean and the "bathroom tissue" (toilet paper) is 2-ply! We always visit Crossroads when in the area. Highly recommend! 5 stars!

Yelp
Absolutely love Crossroads! When I come from Rochester to stay in town, I'm 100% of the time stopping here. There make THE BEST breakfast sandwich! They have cinnamon rolls (and other sweets) the size of your face! They also have an awesome selection of apparel and gifts for everyone! 10/10 would recommend a stop by here!

Yelp
Great honest people. A little pricey but better than buying online! Bought an item and lost it in the car on my way home, thought I left it at the store. I called them and only on my word they were ready to replace the item! I found it the next day and did not need to get it. Also just made a larger purchase and they gave me 10% off. That made my purchase price closer to online prices. I rather pay a honest good business more than buy online! Plus if I have any issues there is no problem bringing it back. They have everything you need from fishing and hunting, clothing, food, beer , gas , propane , camping. Also live bait .

Yelp
Great place for all your fishing needs except they don't have any minnows. Deli is very good. Fresh toppings and boars head meats. Good selection of breads. Easy to order and they make it pretty quickly. Convienent store for whole family. Ice cream stand is great to have. Staff is a crap shoot at times but overall nice staff. Gets very busy during summer season. Prices are fair.

Jay R.

Yelp
Crossroads filled my propane tanks very quickly. They also have easy to reach gasoline pumps.
google avatar

Yelp
Crossroads is a great place for all kinds of needs...hiking boots and clothing, last minute food staples, homemade pies and soft serve next door!

Lukas D.

Yelp
Great place! Great home made goodies. Lovely deli, lovely store. It is a "MUST SEE".

Michael M.

Yelp
Awesome selection of everything. Guns, fishing gear, clothes, deli sandwiches, beer, whores, donuts and cigars!
google avatar

Joshua J.

Yelp
A great little deli and local country store. Come here for beer, sandwiches, fishing tackle, gun cleaning, taxidermy touring, newspapers, milk, gas, soda, sweaters, socks and a bunch more. Plus they also have ice cream.
google avatar

Alexandra T.

Yelp
Great deli and assortment of other convenience items. Also has a great beer selection! Frequently call in breakfast or lunch sandwich orders when in the area and they are always reliable. They open early and don't take too long to prepare. Reasonable pricing, fresh ingredients, and great variety. You can also fill up the car with gas here. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Dan R.

Yelp
Crossroads is the best!! From the breakfast sandwiches to the coffee to the ice cream, you're not going to get much better than this in the Adirondaks. Great family owned spot that I've been going to for years. Highly recommend

Yelp
Fun selection of items to explore. Just be careful of the back staircase! My spouse almost had a doozy of a fall as he stepped back into the abyss.
google avatar

Chuck E.

Yelp
Nice assortment of outdoor supplies, cute cafe & large selection of craft beers.get your bait here.

Tekla R.

Yelp
Awesome place! Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Go here when you're in Chestertown!

Yelp
I come for the summer every year and last year I was really enjoying the food minus the stick in butt sandwich maker. She really needs to work on her personality. I expect that behavior in the city, not up here in the mountains. I also didn't appreciate getting the heel of the bread for the sandwich I received today. If I'm paying $7.50 for a sandwich, there better not be the heel of the bread! I love the store, but that deli chick ruins it!!! At least there is one other nice girl behind the deli counter.

Yelp
If you are fortunate enough to find this place just off The Northway @ the Brant Lake/Chestertown exit, then you may as well reward yourself with a good cup of Joe and a large homemade cookie. At least, that's what I did. Can't say much about the rest of the place, although the basement seemed to have a gun repair shop where I quickly perused the rifles and shotguns on display. The upper floor was the tourist shop which I walked past to get to the WC. Nothing there to my taste. The outbuilding housed a soft serve ice cream window, but I read a sign that said I had to leave the 'scream outside the structure or inside my belly before entering; so I didn't bother sampling it. Not the gateway to Valhalla, but not a wormhole to Dark World, either. Coffee was quite satisfying, and the cookie a lip smacker.

Yelp
So much more than I expected tucked away in the Adirondacks. Went for hiking refreshments and left with Christmas gifts. Great assortment & Lovely staff!

Yelp
We come here every summer when we camp at my parents place. The deli is top-notch...awesome sandwiches and AMAZING breakfast sandwiches. Their homemade salads are always a win too. The only issue we have is the ladies working the deli are not the most welcoming/friendly. The other staff is though. They have an adorable store upstairs with clothing, footwear, mugs/cups, etc. Downstairs they have hunting and fishing stuff, food/beer, etc. The main floor is where the deli is and other drinks/pies/candy/coffee/pastries/etc. We love the store and the food and would definitely recommend stopping by and checking it out.

Yelp
Bunker Hill chocolate milk from their I bring home about 5 gallons every trip the best store upstate for sure

Yelp
You have to love a place that sells shotguns, tackle and all things maple. I've been coming here for at least 20 years. It has changed a lot over the years. As of recent, it has expanded to meet the demands of the ever changing clients that frequent this area. It has a lovely deli and a nice local beer selection. I kind of liked it better when it was less tourists and a straight up local joint but It is a good spot when passing through for gas, and what not....mostly what not.....

Yelp
To quote my friend, "Can cross roads do anything wrong?" I went here for lunch one time (not my first visit) And I typically get whatever the special is. But today there was no special. I asked about it and they said they had no time to decide on a special. The girl then said she would surprise me if I wanted. So I said, go for it. What I got was the best sandwich I have ever had. It was so good I gave the girl a 5 dollar tip. Seriously.....so good. The coffee is not my style of coffee, but at least the beans are fresh. The baked goods are SUPER yummy. They have plenty of camping gear if you need some. All in all, it's VERY good place to eat.

Mimi A.

Yelp
Good deli. They sell everything you could possibly need during a stay in the adirondacks. Conveniently located minutes from the river and Schroon Lake.
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
There food is great and so is the customer service they have everything you could possibly want

Cheri R.

Yelp
Amazing place and people! One stop shop for everything you need from food to drinks to tshirts and do much more! Oh I couldn't forget ice cream!

Dan W.

Yelp
This is a great, classic ADK country store; huge selection of different things. But, in the several times I've been there during the pandemic, I have noticed multiple employees being very lax with mask wearing (as in, wearing masks sporadically if at all). I want to support this place, but they need to do a better job looking out for the health of customers and employees.
google avatar

Chloe S.

Yelp
LOCAL STAPLE Get a sandwich here! along with local beer, a fishing rod, worms, and even a fishing license. Upstairs you can find shoes , clothing, even baby items.
google avatar

Paige S.

Yelp
Stopped here to get a bite to eat during a road trip with my friends. The women who made our sandwiches were extremely rude, which made us feel uncomfortable. The food wasn't very good, either. They have beer downstairs and active gear upstairs. Very cute inside and has a lot of potential, but the poor customer service turned us off.
google avatar

Frank M.

Yelp
They have several varieties very good, fresh ground coffees. However, the bold blend I always choose seems to be always empty. They have very good apple fritter baked goods but after dozens of purchases, have yet to find a single piece of Apple in one. Please add some apple to your apple fritter batter! That would be delightful.

K R.

Yelp
I have been going there for years my kids love the soft serve ice cream. The store has lots of charm and you can find just about anything you need for there cabin. Now for the bad some people just have a bad attitude! I understand they may not like the seasonal crowd but they make a lot of money off the seasonal crowd. My wife has been going there since it opened and she's the one they were rude too. They were ru rude to hr in the sandwich area

Yelp
We found this place too late in our vacation at Brant Lake. This place is a proper "General Store" -- fishing and hunting meets a terrific craft-beer selection meets home-baked breads and tasty treats and a deli and fresh made breakfast sandwiches and carafes of various Green Mountain coffee and newspapers and a gas pump and hustle and bustle of local fishermen and soft-serve ice cream in the building next door and gifts and fly fishing lessons and more. Go early in your vacation and go often - the friendly and helpful staff are, well, friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Tom S.

Yelp
I have been there several times this summer. It is amazing at how much stuff that is in this building. They have fishing, hunting, and camping equipment, outdoor clothing, footwear, nik-naks and gifts. For those that are in need of food and beverages they have an amazing deli, and selection of micro-brews. They also have gas and a seasonal soft ice cream stand. The owner and his sons are very knowledgeable for those looking for the hot fishing spots and what the fish are hitting on. When in the area this will be one of my first stops.

Jad N.

Yelp
Great produce. Bought back tomatoes, pies, jam as gifts. A hit and at a great price.
google avatar

Randall E.

Yelp
Great place to get everything you could want. Ice cream, deli and souvenirs to remember your time in the great Adirondacks. Lots of character.

Meaghan A.

Yelp
Where else can you get a delicious breakfast sandwich, a tomahawk, a selfie stick, some microbrews and a rifle?
google avatar

Georgia N.

Yelp
Such a cute place! They have three floors, basement seemed to have hardware, the main floor is a deli, and the second floor is a gift shop. The prices are reasonable and the feel to it is pretty nice.
google avatar

Orika M.

Yelp
We got a chicken noodle soup, homemade oatmeal cookie and a hot cup of coffee. All very tasty and comforting in 10 degree weather.
google avatar

Rachael P.

Yelp
Fresh delicious sandwiches! Every time I drive anywhere nearby, I stop by! They also stock a decent selection of microbrews. Love a good country store.
google avatar

Elaine A.

Yelp
My fiancé and I stop here as often as possible! The staff are always friendly and welcoming. Sandwiches are fresh and delicious, baked goods are always wonderful. Non-ethanol gas out front. This is a great stop-off when traveling on the northway. We love grabbing a 6-pack and a sandwich on our way to fishing the Schroon River. They also have a wonderful selection of gifts upstairs. One-stop-shop is an understatement!
google avatar

Ali C.

Yelp
A true general store. I have been coming here my whole life, and recommend it to anyone passing through. Excellent selection of local beer (with some on tap!); as well as outdoor supplies. Their sandwiches are great, while a little pricey, are worth the extra bucks. Their gas is usually a few cents cheaper than the Stewarts down the road. They also have an ice cream stand!
google avatar

Jr M.

Yelp
Great deli, owners are friendly and very helpful. We've been coming here for over 10 years and always look forward to stopping by to see what's new, pick up GREAT (big and meaty) deli sandwiches, check out their amazing selection of local interest books and fresh bait. Always find a couple of great t-shirts and hats to take back to CA with us. The ice cream shop next door is always hit with everyone and open late. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Jamie B.

Yelp
Shop staff is extremely rude. The female owner likewise. They don't support local patrons. They always run out of products especially at the ice cream stand. Everything is overpriced. The deli staff is just as rude - God forbid you order your meal request at the wrong counter space. While they offer breakfast sandwiches they don't offer a time that they stop making them so when you request one at 10:45 on a Saturday morning the woman behind the counter screams " breakfast is over!" Instead of offering an option she just rolls her eyes at you. They belittle customers, during the on season because it's a popular stop and is very busy. Instead of shopping here head up the street to the LAZY MOOSE. Not only is there staff overly friendly- the food is way better. They appreciate your business and welcome you back. Crossroads should take a page from their book. Oh and they have an ice cream shed- that is always "out" of basic products like maple soft serve and peanut butter sauce. They refuse to refill these products towards the end of the day because the owners won't let them. You can only pay cash at the stand another greedy trait from the unappreciative Crossroads owners.

Mona L.

Yelp
Your one stop for the best IPA selection in the Adirondacks! Pick a local NY brew or choose from their amazing selection.(heard that Ct's Two Roads will be there soon) Owner and his sons are just the best people! Ladies, dont forget to check out upstairs for gifts and woolrich for you and carhart for him. Do you fish or hunt? The best local advice and supplies can be found in the basement. Be sure to meet John and his sons on your next visit.

C R.

Yelp
Good food, but be prepared to drop some cash if you want a sandwich. $13 for a ham, turkey & roast beef hero. I don't have to pay that on Long Island. I can say that I will not be getting a sandwich there in the near future.

Matthew L.

Yelp
Wonderful place to eat. Sandwiches were made to order with freshly made bread. Quaint country store with very friendly, helpful & welcoming staff.

C V.

Yelp
Open year around, great stop, any time of day! There is always a pot of coffee brewing which includes New England and/or fresh ground, fair trade beans. The deli is excellent and reasonably priced with a great gift shop upstairs, sporting goods and additional grocery items downstairs. Best selection of craft beers in the area. Offers seasonal soft serve ice cream as well. Owners and employees are kind and helpful.
