The Opposite of Govinda’s Replaces the Vegan Pioneer on South Street | Eater Philly

"I see that Crown Chicken & Burger is slated to open soon at Broad and South as the opposite of Govinda’s—a fried-chicken-and-burger restaurant replacing the corner spot. Reporting notes fast-food locations with the same name in New York and New Jersey that sell burgers, “Philly cheesesteaks,” lamb gyros, and fried chicken, with at least some options halal; it is not the same as Crown Fried Chicken, and Eater is still gathering intel on this new operation." - Rachel Vigoda

Price says one thing. Charge at the register is the opposite. Overcharged. Ordered 5pc drum meal somehow got charged $15.41 menu says $10.99. Food is good. Price is fine im just annoyed over the principal of overcharging. How does 5pc drum for 10.99 turn to 15.41 on my credit card statement. To this day I have no clue. But whatever food is good b it be warned check the price when they charged

Nice halal spot right in center city on Broad st. Great location. Food is good. I gave it one less star because the "spicy" is not actually spicy at all, not even hot. It has more spices i.e. flavor but it's not hot or spicy, so was disappointed in that. I hope they can make spicy an actual option soon. Also tried the pizza roll and it wasn't good. Couldn't tell if it was old or what. But it was really dry and tasted like nothing. Not sure there was any cheese in there. Other than that, very clean establishment and friendly staff.

Literally just left, and returned home. Ordered a 15 piece mix (no sides). Came to a little under $25 with tax. Opened it up and 8 of the 15 pieces were wings! 3 of the pieces were breast and one of those the skin was so hard it was inedible. Tried to call the store, but no one answered. If they didn't have enough pieces to make (almost) equal amounts of each piece they should have said that.

Came here with a group late one weekend. Place is dingy and quiet. Food actually took ages to make. Also tasted awful. I personally recommend not ordering from here.

Ask the grumpy guy behind the counter about two burgers and what was on it he angrily said you can see what's on it the he told me I can only order chicken cause I changed my mind. and watch your tax he charges almost double on the combo I ordered it cost $7.89 and with tax he wants $9.00 but the tax on that price is .63 cents which comes to $8.59 so WATCH IT.

I have had their fried chicken MANY Times. A leg is less than $2 It’s not greasy and cooked perfectly. The chicken falls off the bone pretty much. Friday I had their Fish Sandwich, less than $5. PERFECT!. It very clean. The staff are friendly and professional. When they say Halal without a doubt it is. The crazy homeless people will wander like anyplace in Center City but don’t seem to linger. All in all a Real Winner

Crown Fried Chicken is the best classic fried chicken joint in Center City South! They have amazingly juicy, tender, well seasoned, perfectly crispy fried chicken. Fantastic seasoning. Phenomenonal potato wedges. Open late!! Wheelchair accessible!! Family owned! Super kind staff!! Feel free to call ahead to save some time. Try the beef patties! They have assorted soft drinks.

Welcome to Crown Fried Chicken on Broad street and south street. The picture speak for itself. It’s on 30 September, 9:32 PM (approx). I entered the store to get small fries and found no one in the front. I waited. The guy who works in the front was sitting down in a chair in the back and watching something on his phone with his headphones on. I knocked on the window, he did not even care to look, I kept knocking, as he was not paying attention I kept on knocking hard. Finally he noticed and came to take the order. The moment I order small order of fries he said “that’s it, is that what you have been knocking for”. As if I made the biggest mistake in my life by only ordering small fries. I said hey man I have been knocking on the window, you did not pay attention. He started counter argument. At one point he started to use very very foul language in the argument. At one point I had to call the police on him and then he apologized for his action. Attention Owner: Please check the security camera for verification.
