Google
This quick food chicken place serves chicken cheese steaks, cheese burgers, chicken nuggets. Today I bought 9 piece wings, fries and Pepsi®. I added on onion rings that were very good and a piece of sweet potato pie Indoor dining in booths with one open side for accessibility Accessible entry and exit accessible wide open venue with slightly high order and pick up counter. Slow service today with a small crowd here

Sorry to give 3 star.....because I got chicken wings that feel like fried twice... very bad taste... I tried different locations. Crown chicken is my favorite... but i had a bad experience here...

Google
Based on my recently visited Crown Fried Chicken and was thoroughly disappointed with the experience. The taste of the food was very bad, far from what I expected. Despite the high prices compared to other similar fast-food joints, the quality was subpar. The beef lacked flavor, and the sides were equally unimpressive. Considering the cost, I expected much better. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Crown Fried Chicken to others. Save your money and look elsewhere for a more satisfying meal.

We really loved the food here. Everything is HALAL. We took chicken over rice and lamb over rice as take out. The food came with drinks of choice. I chose water, the water bottle was a bigger btlle than such okaces usually give. The wait was very long, especially when we were in a rush. After we tried the food, the wait was totally worth it. Surprisingly, lamb was soft. I think they grind the meat, then form cubes. It's a nice way to cook lamb so customers are always happy. Inside the store was kind of cold (it was the end of December when we came). ATM and art pieces had graffiti writings on them.... I didn't take many pictures inside, the restaurant was crowded. There were 5 tables for dining in. It looked like this restaurant had renovation not too long ago. Other than graffiti, the place was clean. I forgot to take pictures of the food..... I took a picture of chicken over rice after I was halfway through 😂 I will definitely come again once I'm in Philly. I highly recommend this place for tasty food which is close to the downtown. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Food was still fresh even though I came right before closing. Guy was cleaning when I arrived and made sure he washed his hands to serve me. Got more food than I paid for which was very nice.

Yelp
Everything here minus some of the sides was fried. I had a taste for some chicken. We got our order and took back to the hotel. There was no seating in the place. Unfortunate. Last time I was here this place had some slappin chicken! Respectfully, Bryan Oklahoma City

Yelp
I came here cause it was right next to the train station. Pretty interesting experience here to say the least. I'm not gonna lie I was drunk as a skunk but I thought the fried chicken was delicious

Yelp
I like this Crown Fried chicken place, it was totally clean inside and the service was great. The drinks were only fruit punch, orange soda and ice tea but inside again it was so clean that I didn't mind the limited soda. I was able to get my combo with a huge water and that was good enough for me on this hot day

Yelp
No pictures. I don't know if why I never ordered from this restaurant. Maybe I'm too bougie. Lol. But I recently had wings and fries from Crown Fried Chicken, and while the wings needed a bit more seasoning, the wings were fresh and lightly fried and delicious. The fries were nicely fried as well. For a late night meal, I would definitely attend again.

Yelp
Totally unsure why this is only 2 1/2 stars but it's well worth more. This is outside but very close to the Fashion District. The chicken at this version of the nationwide chain is quite simply, good. Real good. The two pieces of chicken that I ordered by themselves without being a combo were perfectly fried, not greasy and yet they were tender and juicy. This was the perfect quick snack to grab and eat while waiting for my train. The gentleman who waited on me from behind the counter was pleasant and kind to me and others. He ensured I had a napkin in my bag and he folded it neatly closed for me. What's not to love? For a Chain Crown Chicken store, it was a 5.

Yelp
If you're hungry and craving some oily fried Chicken this is your spot. I would say that it's not anything to write home about but when you're hungry it definitely hits the spot. The biscuits were extremely underwhelming but the chicken and the spice was decent to average. I definitely would go again but probably after a few drinks to soak up all the booze in my stomach.

Yelp
I've found myself walking right past Crown Chicken many times whenever I've stayed in downtown Philly, near the convention center. I was out by myself walking around on a Friday night around 8pm and suddenly I was craving fried chicken and so on a whim decided to finally give them a try. I'm religious about checking in and seeing what my fellow Yelpers have to say on any given place and the reviews for Crown Chicken are NOT kind. In fact they're dismal. And let's not talk about their health rating. We'll just pretend I never saw it. Since I was already standing across the street, I just said "phuck it, how bad can this restaurant possibly be?" The restaurant sits on the corner of Filbert, close to the Marriott, the Redding Terminal market, China town and a block away from Market street. It's take-out only and because of Covid the counter is completely divided by wall to wall plexi glass. There was only one couple waiting for their order but nary anyone else inside. The place was awfully quiet for a Friday night. Hmmm, I thought, with so many other great food choices nearby, maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Maybe I was feeling a little randy but really I was just really hungry, so I threw caution to the wind, walked in and bellied up to the counter. Looking up at the menu I saw so many options...all things chicken, wings galore, seafood, ribs, gyros, sandwiches, burgers, cheesesteaks, fries, rice, combos plus a plethora of desserts...I was not ready for so many choices and it got intense (all in my mind of course). Wait...do I see Jamaican patties too? At a chicken joint? (Oh ok.) With so many options, I was a little indecisive but the friendly guy at the counter told me to take my time and chatted me up. He was kind and super patient but luckily since there was no one else in there, I wasn't clogging up any lines. I came here for fried greasy chicken and that's what I got...4 piece mixed chicken combo with a side of red beans and rice, a strawberry soda plus a Jamaican patty and 6 wings (all for $23 including a very generous tip). To me that's a deal and figured I'd get dinner and left overs for lunch the next day. The chicken was pretty damned good, steaming hot, just the right amount of greasy and perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. The Jamaican patty was also surprisingly tasty and super fresh (too bad I didn't ask if they had coco bread to wrap around it). The rice was awesome too, nicely seasoned, fresh and a nice side portion. And the wings? I loved the wings! Plump and juicy and crispy...just the way a good wing should be. I'm still confused about the bad reviews but I'm glad I wasn't too "chicken" to take a chance on Crown Chicken. Quick, cheap and tasty eats and it's open till 3 am. And a shout out and thanks to the friendly counter guy (he told me he hails from Afghanistan but unfortunately I didn't catch his name). Great customer service is always appreciated and goes a long way in ensuring a repeat customer which they can now count with me. Now I know where to pick up some quick and tasty fried chicken whenever I get a hankering while in downtown Philly. Don't let the negative reviews sway you from checking out Crown Chicken!

Yelp
Service was quick and polite and the restaurant is clean, but I just didn't love the food. Potato wedges were fine. Rolls came straight out of a bag. Mac and cheese had very little flavor. Chicken pieces were kind of small, kind of dry, and not very hot.
google avatar

Yelp
"Middle of the road" pretty much sums it up. Decent, but not great chicken. Surprisingly abundant menu with many sides, combos, meal deals, and non-chicken items to choose from as well. The place was pretty clean and well kept. Staff seemed friendly but Ive only eaten here one time. Nothing to complain about leaving here, but chicken wasn't good enough to make me go out of my way to come back. If you're nearby, and price and convenience are the main factors, this place will suit your needs.

Yelp
Amazing Food, Delicious Sides, Great Customer Service, Got My Food In A Decent Amount Of Time. 10/10
google avatar

Luis R.

Yelp
2 piece chicken, fries, roll, and a drink for $7.00. Can't really complain. Chicken isn't the greatest but it's not the worst. It satisfies. If you are looking to soak up that alcohol or just need a quick bite to eat, stop by and check this place out.

Andrew M.

Yelp
Unfortunately this place missed all the marks. I don't want to be critical, but practically everything offered was subpar or just simply not there. The chicken was not fully cooked, with some breading being practically untouched and raw. I ordered a combo and only after paying was told that they did not have most of the things offered in a combo: no biscuits, no fries, and limited substitution options. Frankly not worth it at all.

Yelp
Your late Saturday night stop. Fast service but pretty bad fries, would compare it to McDonald's. Portions were pretty decent.
google avatar

Leo C.

Yelp
Only late night spot right by the Marriott. Perfect location to grab some greasy hangover food. Can't be to tough reviewing a place where the sole function is to serve late night junk food in a sorta desolate area. Had the fried chicken and Philly cheese. Meat was decent (as in better than I expected) on the Philly cheesesteak. Barely any cheese and the bread was flat out terrible. Fried chicken was ok as well. Crispy skin, oily, tough over fried meat. Service was adequate in terms of friendliness. In terms of speed, it was perfect. Food, drinks, change was delivered asap. Makes you wonder how much cooking was involved in my cheese steak. To sum up, don't come here is anything else around the area is open. Come here if everything else is closed.

Yelp
You can't beat the location: Near the cheap Chinatown buses, a jaunt from the Greyhound bus stop, and right by the Market East SEPTA station, you can even hail a taxi if you hoof it down a block to Market Street. You can't beat the food: Unapologetically unhealthy, fair-sized pieces of deep-fried, crispy, tasty chicken wings. Plus, if you don't like their juicy chicken, they've got other stoner food, too. Oh, did you know everything's dirt cheap? If you have no respect for your body, their chicken will keep you from eating other humans, zombie-style. For a little while.

Yelp
This was the worst customer service I have experienced in my life across all restaurant tiers. After recieving. Luke warm chicken, I asked for hot chicken. Management declined and offered return of money. I told them I did not want the money just wanted the chicken hotter. Two gentleman began to sing chicken songs. Counter man offered money again. I said no I just want the chicken. He told me I talk too much and to shut up. Being calm, I asked for my money. He said I would get no money and no chicken. I suggest the place be closed for unprofessionalism, ignorance, and bafoonery.

Yelp
Craving for food after work, so I stopped by a nearby Crown Chicken spot. Well, I think I'll stick with a Popeye's or a Bojangles. Even though I was really hungry and the food smelled awesome, I felt the taste was lackluster. For a little more than $10, the combo#3 was a good steal with 5 chicken pieces, roll, fries, and a drink. None the less, all the quantity did not really satisfy my food cravings and left me searching for more.

Yelp
We had been walking and sightseeing all day and we were getting hungry and tired. It was late; and, we tried to find something we wanted in the Reading Terminal Market; but, that was a fail, as most of the places were closed up. So, we dashed in next door and piled up on 8 Pieces of Fried Chicken, Mac N Cheese, Rice and Beans, Rolls and some soft drinks. All for right around $20; and, the man working the counter refused a tip! He had the patience of a saint, taking orders and serving food, in a friendly and professional manner. The chicken pieces were large, cooked perfectly. So, don't believe the nay-sayers, get out to Crown Fried Chicken and get something good to eat.
google avatar

Yelp
Running to catch the train so I grabbed a quick cheesesteak sub and some wings to go. Place looked decent, and food smelled good ... several other patrons - but in the end just didn't work for me. The philly was overcooked, and only had a tiny bit of cheese on it - onions were stringy and didn't taste fresh. Worst part was it didn't quite agree with my stomach .. running for the toilet later that night. The wings were pretty darn good, but again produced indigestion in the am. I won't repeat!!! Maybe just me, but it just didn't work well for me.

Yelp
The worst fried chicken I ever tried to eat ... weird smell, weirder taste. Gross food, gross employees, gross patrons, gross place. DO NOT EAT HERE!

Yelp
You know, the location is oddly appropriate. It's right next to the Chinatown bus stop, and the Greyhound station isn't that far away either. I felt like I had taken a step back in time to the days when I, as a college student would travel by that most vile of evil transportation systems (Greyhound). It's like I had just gotten off the bus as it stopped for those 20 minutes where you can go use the scary, disease-ridden restrooms, and then you run into the nearest restaurant you can find so you can stuff something in your craw before you get back into the belly of that metal beast that seems to never have air conditioning. Enough on that. The garish neon lights are just the start to the greatness. The funniest things about this location: (1) there's a sign right below the menu that says NO REFUNDS! (2) various denominations of American moolah plastered against the plastic dividers; all of them with expletives rhyming with "duck" threatening people against the use of counterfeit money. Clearly both these things suggest that there were enough issues that they had to let all customers know about it. It's also evident that they don't clean the place very often. Knowing all of this, if you still go in there and expect 5 star treatment, and food, you're SOL, and you're an idiot to boot. The food is exactly what one would expect from a dive like this. Horrible for you, uber-fried chicken. They had random things like gyro sandwiches (which I personally wouldn't trust; at least I can pretend that the hot oil used to cook the chicken has killed everything that could infect my innards). The fries are also greasy, which only makes them fairly delicious. The rolls are disappointing, and manage to convey greasiness as well as dryness at the same time. I would eat there again when I'm in the mood to fill my body with food that's helping me get that much closer to an early grave.

Yelp
A very small Crown located under the Convention Center. Outside, it smells like urine and the location across from one of the entries into the Market East station for the regional rail isn't exactly the nicest or the cleanest. But the chicken inside is fried up crispy and hot. Too bad it feels so dirty just walking to the restaurant. Inside is not the cleanest, either.
google avatar

Yelp
This place I have only found in sketchy areas, it's a chain that always has great fried chicken. Best I can find around philly without flying to st louis for some hodacks... That said, i'm not expecting it to be a 5 star setting...not even 3 stars...As long as it's fresh, crispy, hot and juicy?! then it's worth the $$ and the locale. I used to always get it in Norristown when i lived near there but this one near chinatown is more convenient now. Then again i also get it to go!! You might want to do that... The more you buy the cheaper it all gets and if you like things w. a little kick? dont forget to ask for some hot sauce. Theirs is tangy but i just add sriracha on top of it and tastes yum. Make sure to get a lot of napkins.... You cant have it all the time, but if you get a craving?? yum! I've got family that are fans and so am i.

David G.

Yelp
The girlfriend and I shared a "6 wings with fries" combo. Chicken was good (fresh out of the fryer as opposed to dried up under the heat lamps), fries were decent. Took over 10 minutes to get our order but it was worth it. Very close to the China Town and Greyhound bus stations.
google avatar

Brittany H.

Yelp
This place is a kind of awful and disappointing AND I've only had it after drinking which you know is bad. Chicken is okay, I've probably worse but I'v definitely had better. Sides are horrible. I had mashed potatoes, and even in my buzzed state, I felt like i was eating paste. Rice and beans were pretty bland, flavorless. I can't say I won't go back because I pass it on my way home at times but, I wouldn't recommend it.
google avatar

Charity B.

Yelp
Great fast food and wide selection too. Chicken wings were great. Sides like make and cheese , rice and beans weren't so great. Just go there for the fried chicken

Militant M.

Yelp
Do not ever order through Door Dash--check your order! The driver does not check to make sure all your items are in the bag!!! You get what you order--a quick dash! Wedges were tasty and bean pie was very good. Associates whom work here do make sure you are taken care of. At least they cared enough to take care of me the next time I stop in Center City. Thank you Mohammed and Farheek!

Ben M.

Yelp
Not a good location for a first date. Food was underwhelming. Service was horrible. It was an overall traumatic experience. Would not recommend. I ordered the 3 piece chicken wings, and a side of potato wedges with my girlfriend. The wings were, on the whole, bland, tasteless, and reminded me of eating soggy cardboard. The potato wedges were fresh out of the oven, however they were, like the wings, extremely underwhelming. It's fairly difficult to incorrectly prepare fried food. Fried food generally tastes fantastic no matter where you go but somehow this Crown Fried Chicken location managed to ruin fried food. I would not return to this location if this were the only place in Philadelphia serving food of any kind at all. The only redeeming quality about Crown Fried Chicken is there cheap prices. However I would not return to this location for the cheap prices because the food is just absolutely dismal. If I could give zero stars, I would.

Emily A.

Yelp
A perfectly acceptable fried chicken joint. Food came out very hot. Prices are cheap. Try the banana pudding!
google avatar

Jimmy M.

Yelp
Decent food, but incredibly poor customer service. I asked for a refill for my water and the guy behind the counter said "No you only get one". I went back to the counter later and asked for another honey mustard packet and threatened to call the police if I kept asking questions...unreal. I'll never give them my business again.
google avatar

Dave L.

Yelp
Note to self: Never, never, never go out to eat in a new city without checking Yelp. I arrived late Sunday afternoon with a serious appetite - in fact the lack of food clouded my judgment as I walked out of the hotel in search of some chow. One block later I entered a cloud of fried chicken fumes - this is it. Despite scary clientèle and filthy floors and tables I pushed on and ordered. For $8 I had some chicken, rolls, fries, and a drink. Less than a minute after poking at it I threw in the towel in fear of possible stomach problems. Roll was stale. Chicken was pinkish inside. I will not be back and would not recommend you make the same mistake as I.
google avatar

Alyssa M.

Yelp
While waiting for the bus, the bus station food didn't really appeal so I went across the street to this place with an extensive menu. It was hot in there, but I managed to get my order and get back to the station in plenty of time. I got a huge grilled chicken salad for only $4.99, kid got two pieces of fried chicken and fries, husband got a a Philly Cheese Steak. They were out of ranch dressing and the bathroom was broken that day.
google avatar

Anna Z.

Yelp
Let's just say this was a "come home at 1:30AM after a night filled with drinking and dancing, now I need chicken nuggets" kind of meal.
google avatar

Tim O.

Yelp
I was drunk after getting a tattoo and wanted something hot and cheap. I was in the right part of town. I don't eat fast food (except in n out) but made an exception for some dollar and change fries. I ate them while waiting for the train and made a pretty good mess on my shirt. The guy behind the counter seemed kind of a dick, but i guess he was tired of dealing with people like me all day. But still, fuck him. I wasn't that bad. 3 stars, but only for the convenience.
google avatar

Rizwan A.

Yelp
Halal spot for cheesesteaks plus they have chicken, fries and sides as well. They are usually pretty busy so even though this isn't the flashiest or fanciest of spots, they seem pretty fresh and clean. I only stop by to pickup the halal cheesesteaks which are decent as far as halal cheesesteaks go, definitely not the best, but sometimes they are convenient and they seem to stay well over next few hours and through airports. They don't have that gooey melt in your mouth style though that some of the other ones do. I'll be back, but usually out of necessity and location.
google avatar

Ida G.

Yelp
Despite our best intentions, we ended up here again due to a time-sensitive fried chicken emergency. There was a different guy behind the counter this time, who was not rude, but acted with all the deliberation of a person with explosives tied around his waist. The chicken had a weird taste as though it was fried entirely in butter. I really liked the fries, which also made no pretense of being even a little bit good for you. The bread roll was inedible. Our sides were also very disappointing. The sweet potato pie was sickeningly sweet. The meat-filled pastry was so greasy that after eating it I looked like I had applied a ton of lip gloss, poorly. The Dr. Pepper was the right color but lacked fizz and didn't taste like anything, even without ice. Finally, not only is there a 50c surcharge for credit cards (regardless of the order total), there are no notices anywhere informing you of the surcharge. It wasn't until we'd placed the order and I produced my credit card that we were advised of the surcharge, which is way, way lame.

Yelp
I agree with the first review: "good, cheap, junk food". The staff here is friendly as can be to the random groups that stop in here. It's a very mixed crowd and for some reason the service is really slow. Usually when you go to KFC they have the chicken sitting there and ready to go. I saw tons of chicken sitting under the hot lights, yet our order took forever and a day. We got a boxed chicken meal with fries, drinks and cheese fries. I don't know why it would take over 15-20 min for this to be ready...maybe they were cutting some fresh fries for us in back. The chicken was not that tasty- it was slightly fried out and not crispy. The fries without cheese were boring. The fries WITH cheese were slightly above average. I would rather go to Browns/KFC/Popeyes.

Joe G.

Yelp
In town for PAX Unplugged, we were recommended this place late at night. Absolutely amazing chicken fingers, delicious beef patties, and hot sauce I wish I could buy in a bottle.
google avatar

Ernest S.

Yelp
Philly, I expected more from you in the fried chicken arena. Crown's chicken had a weird rubbery texture and zero crispiness. I liked the hot sauce enough, and the place is reasonably inexpensive. But my hunt for the best fried chicken in Philly will have to continue ...

Shekkita C.

Yelp
DO NOT EAT FROM HERE. I've worked across the street in the Aramark tower for 5 years, every single I get chicken from here it is undercooked in the middle, EVERY TIME. The last time I ate from here resulted in a hospital visit. Save yourselves a hospital trip.

Cory B.

Yelp
Late night joint. Good fried chicken. Fresh from the frier. Great change of pace in the center of Chinatown.
google avatar

Phillip-Andrew P.

Yelp
I'm a fried chicken coinnesseur and didn't have high expectations for this place but the fried chicken was hard and dry. The fries were good. It is really cheap, less than $4 for a two piece meal.
google avatar

Chiho C.

Yelp
The dude who works here cheated me out of thirty bucks. Yes, I was drunk and the chicken was warm, but still. Also, the fried chicken sucks here. I love fried chicken. I love it a lot. This is not fried chicken. It's soggy chicken that was dipped in ass juice and not the good kind of ass juice but the bad kind.

Cindy L.

Yelp
We came here between events at PAX. Not only were the staff extremely rude about forgetting our order, but we were also the last ones but he whole restaurant to receive our food. Other the mixed chicken and the boneless wings were dry. Definitely wouldn't try again.

D. H.

Yelp
The fish ordered was way past its prime and inedible, and they didn't even have tartar sauce. One of the guys at the counter was a bit surly, and ignored me even though there was a rather long wait for the person who would take my order. There was no "I'll be with you in a moment."Just indifference. Also for out-of-towners, know that the rolls are super small.

Adam M.

Yelp
The store is dirty and the cashier at the front is discriminatory against Arabs by the way that's very outrageous . The only reason I went to Crown Fried Chick is because the sign hanging says Halal food. I believe that guy is not the owner or a partner because he does not know anything about customer service. The time I spent in the store I didn't feel like a customer or a equal human being. I recommend the owner to hire someone care about the customer and the business or this store will lose potential business and retention of customers coming back.

Mike L.

Yelp
Great chicken.. The sides were aight. I have not tried the fries, but I have only heard good things. If you are looking to grub out on fried food - check this place out!

Annie J.

Yelp
I agree with a review below that described this place as "middle of the road." It's located conveniently, the prices are good and the food isn't bad, with a large amount of selections. I've ordered food here a couple of times, usually getting a burger and fries. Tried the fried chicken once, and while it's not my favorite style of fried chicken, it's not too bad either.

Savvy Z.

Yelp
I went to this place with my family, because we were starved. The inside of the place was really nasty, plus there were waaayyy to many things on the menu for them to make it by themselves. I had the chicken tenders, and it was hard, greasy, and had barely any chicken. The fries were also terrible. My friend had a burger and it was BURNED!!!!! take it from me, DO NOT EVER EAT HERE! hated it!

Josh M.

Yelp
I must not know great chicken based on other reviews. I was very impressed with the hot wings. My wife and I went on Saturday after a long day of drinking and we were impressed with the FOOD and staff. The clientele was obnoxious and really turned us off. Not the restaurants fault. I decided to go back again tonight and the food was just as good and the guy behind the counter remembered me, asked me where my wife was, and apologized again for the Sat experience. If you are looking for some great fried chicken this is a good place to go.
