A deeply disappointing experience — far from what you'd expect from a “luxury” hotel
We booked a stay at Crown Sydney to celebrate a special birthday, expecting a peaceful, luxurious weekend. Unfortunately, what was meant to be a thoughtful surprise turned into a frustrating and exhausting experience.
To be clear, we understand that early check-ins are not always possible — that’s completely fair. But arriving to find our room still not ready at 3:30pm, when check-in time was officially 3pm, was unacceptable. We were told to enjoy the area while we waited, which we did. Yet coming back and still not having a room ready felt careless.
When we finally accessed our room, we had to wait over an hour for our luggage to be delivered. That meant we missed our chance to enjoy the pool — simply because we didn’t have our clothes with us.
To make things worse, we had arranged a bottle of champagne to be in the room upon arrival as part of the celebration — a small detail that was meant to make the moment special. It was delivered four hours later, long after the occasion had passed.
For a hotel that positions itself as one of Sydney’s finest, the lack of attention to detail, slow service, and disregard for guest experience was beyond disappointing. The price tag suggests 5-star quality — the reality was far from it.
We rarely write negative reviews, but this one was earned. If you're looking to truly relax or celebrate something meaningful, we would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
