Came here for a trip to New Orleans, and I've never stayed off Canal street, so that was definitely something new and interesting. Convenient for sure. But I did not have the greatest experience with them from a customer service aspect.
Parking is valet only and is $40/night. The parking is not onsite and is 3 blocks away, so they told us upfront, take anything and everything out the car that you may need, and double/triple check!! And I get why. When we needed our car for a day trip out, it took about 15-20 minutes, literally, to go get the car. Knowing this, I knew that for day of checkout, get out there early, because you will be waiting.
When we went to check in, the check-in process was quick and smooth. However, they forgot to tell us of additional hotel fees that would be charged per night, and I'm assuming there is tax on that, but don't know for sure, because I never got a receipt. When checking out, they stated all was good, no additional charges, and that the receipt would be emailed to me. It wasn't. But I waited a few days, and then when I saw the charge on my card, I was confused on the amount, because all I was aware of being charged for was parking. I contacted IHG and they reached out directly to the hotel to request a receipt. Nothing still. I have for a total reached out 3 times, with IHG contacting them and still haven't received a receipt. On my 4th!!! attempt to reach out directly to the hotel, the woman that answered, asked me my name, and scoffed under her breath before stating that she would resend it to me. I haven't gotten it at all, so great, thank you for the attitude of "resending" me something I have yet to receive. At this rate, who knows what I paid for. Get your receipts printed, moving forward because last I checked, I paid to stay here, and brought 3 friends along with me, that paid for their rooms, and same occurrance happened to them. Overcharged for who knows what!
Anywho. Aside from that, location is optimal for getting around quickly on foot. Rooms were nice and they were spacious. The AC was weird. You would set it to a temp, and it would not go to that temp, I think they regulate them, because my room wouldn't stay cold and was warmer than what the temp was sat at. I would not consider myself as one to complain much on hotels, but this was a big disappoint considering the reputation that the Crowne Plaza has. The only reason I am not giving 1 star, is because there were a few nice employees we encountered.
