55-Year-Old Classic Italian Restaurant Andre’s Reopens in Mid-Wilshire | Eater LA

"I note that Crowns & Hops hasn’t yet opened in Inglewood but recently applied for an ABC license inside LAX’s Terminal 4; in late April it partnered with Full Circle Brewing, Speakeasy Ales & Lager, and Sonoma Cider to form what is now the largest Black-owned beverage group in the country." - Mona Holmes

Was at Crowns Terminal 4 while waiting for our flight. Service was good and attentive. But, I didn’t expect much regarding airport food, but the flatbread was tasty and they had the best Bloody Mary. Now, you should expect to pay a fortune when dining at an airport. $182 later. Was it worth it? Well, you really don’t have a choice, especially when you’re going for a long flight, mid-day, and getting to your next destination past midnight.

⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5) I honestly don’t understand how this place positions itself as an “elite bar” — they even have a hostess at the entrance, but that’s where the luxury ends. The menu is ridiculously limited, and the food quality doesn’t match the prices at all. I ordered one of the most expensive sandwiches, and it looked like something from a cheap gas-station diner. Nothing “premium” about it — dry bread, random meat inside, zero presentation. And the side? Just a handful of the cheapest, stale potato chips you can find at a grocery store, sold here for $3 extra. Not even fries — seriously? That’s just lazy. The chef might know how to cook, but whoever designed this menu clearly doesn’t care about customer experience or value for money. Overall, the place looks fancy but serves cafeteria-level food. Total disappointment — not worth it, even if you’re stuck at LAX.

If you're passing through LAX and need a quick bite and a cold beer, Crowns is a solid stop. The food comes out quick, the beer is ice cold, and it’s a nice place to recharge before your next flight. Staff are friendly and efficient, even while juggling guests who treat the seating like a free lounge without ordering anything. Despite that, the team keeps things moving with a good attitude. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for something casual and quick without sacrificing quality.

Came here with my mom for dinner before our 5 hr flight. This was the only source of food in the entire upstairs terminal for American Airlines so we had no other choice but to sit here. First off, our waitress Sherry was a doll, great waitress, great energy. However, the rest of our experience at this restaurant was utterly horrible. Respectfully, they need a new chef or the chef needs to put care into the meals. We ordered the Cali flatbread which has bbq tri tip, arugula, and pickled onions. The pizza was barely cooked, the bbq sauce you couldn’t even taste, the arugula was wilted and looked old, and the pickled onions had zero flavor. Thank God we also ordered a buratta salad which was the only good thing at this place other than our waitress, but even then the bread it came with wasn’t even toasted. Not to mention the music playlist needs some serious help. They played rap/hip hop from the 90s which felt like we were in a weho bar. Just very strange and off putting for any kind of meal experience. The prices were outrageous for the quality you actually get and should be reviewed and reduced 💯. Furthermore when you’re the only restaurant offered at a terminal for people there needs to be a much more extended menu, at least offer a burger or a steak, something with substance. The music should be something of the 2000-2010’s even top 40 would’ve sufficed. John Mayer, One Republic, Coldplay, even Goo Goo Dolls, but not Snoop Dog and Lil Wayne. I never leave reviews but this was outrageous and I hope for the good of all, that these comments can help make this place up to standards of a restaurant, especially being the only option for people to get a bite before a long flight where they miss meals. Thank you

Google
It was absolutely the BEST lobster roll I've ever had. The chips were a great side, adding a little salt and crunch to the perfect sandwich. Yes, it was the most expensive item on the menu, but for once, I was not disappointed, wishing I had chosen something else. The downside (loss of one star) was a lack of acknowledgement that I was waiting to be seated in a line that was steadily growing. Not even ONE glance from an employee for a full ten minutes. Tables were emptying, and no one was bussing. Once seated, I had friendly service. But my joy was limited because I had spent too much time waiting for lunch rather than enjoying it. A caution to those in this terminal (Gates 46-49). There is only one restaurant, which does have a to-go window, one sundries shop (the line was 20 people long before my flight), and one set of restrooms. It's an isolated area, so you may want to pick up incidentals (snacks, drinks, etc.) on your way to this area of the airport. If you have extra time, do plan to enjoy the lobster roll!!

Google
Ruth Z was absolutely amazing! Very kind and attentive. She refilled drinks quickly and accommodated anything I asked for. I would dine here again just for her service. Thank you Ruth!

Google
Joe took great care of me while I waited for my flight. Answered all questions about food and suggested a great wine! Cheers Joe and as busy as it got, you knocked it out for me!

Google
Maritza and Andres made my experience at the airport so enjoyable. Not only did I have a 11/10 airport drink (which as we know is a staple), but also I had such pleasant conversations with them both and felt taken care of. I think I’ve finally enjoyed an airport bar for the first time in forever. Booking my flights through American Airlines next time just so I can come back here.

Yelp
It's ok. Convenient place to grab a bite in terminal 4. Kinda the only place near Gates 46-49. Plenty of seating. You need to order food to get a table. They also have large full bar. The food is just ok. I got the breakfast sandwich. It came out kinda cold. Service was good though. Friendly staff.

Yelp
I ate at this restaurant because it's the only place to sit down and eat in this terminal. They have a bar to sit at as well as multiple tables. Service is prompt, polite, and speedy. As you can tell from the menu, the food here is significantly overpriced. For the quality of the food, they shouldn't be charging more than half of what they're charging. It's obvious the restaurant is taking advantage of being the only eatery within 15 minutes of the gates and price-gouging its customers. I had the chicken and brie sandwich and a glass of water. The meal was presented messily and tasted okay. At most, it should have cost $20 but with tax and tip I paid $40. I ate here because I had no other option and there's never a guarantee flights will have food. I would probably only eat here again out of desperation.

Yelp
I'm hungry, so I got two things. Initially I was sad I didn't dine at terminal 4 with more options, but another reviewer recommended the burrata and beet salad and so I gave it a shot, and wow! It was actually quite good, something I would expect at a decent spot outside of the airport. They also dropped the food on my table exactly as "Pony" by Ginuwine started playing on the speakers LOL. The sandwich was fine, nothing too special but wow, between the service and speed of the food coming, I was so pleasantly surprised! It's insanely expensive--my total was like 70 bucks. But that's not really the point of reviewing airport food, so I think a lot of reviews make that mistake. What I want at the airport is something tasty, something with protein, and some fiber and nutrients to sustain me for my journey, and in that respect, Crowns LAX delivered.

Yelp
Quick eats at the airport. Grabbed some pizza for a quick bite before my flight. Pizza was pretty good and service by Erika was great. Would eat here again if I'm waiting for my flight.

Yelp
Looking for a place to rest our weary feet. Perfect spot for a drink or two and a bite to eat in between flights. Service was very nice.

Jovete E.

Yelp
Overpriced, but we enjoyed our time here as we waited to board our flight. We ordered the Pepperoni flatbread and the California Nachos. Both were okay. Prices were steep, but that's what's expected at an airport. This was the only restaurant near our gate (Terminal 4). Our waitress was nice and the bathrooms were close by. Would I eat here again? Probably not. I'd probably only come here for drinks while waiting.

Yelp
Worse latte I have ever had. Burnt and way too hot. $20 for oat milk latte and banana bread with forced tip option of 18-%
google avatar

Yelp
The prices don't match the quality of the food. Service was friendly. Over crowded and congested.

katie a.

Yelp
They show a menu in the front just to sit u down and say that menu is not available for seating dine in it's only for to go. Very poor experience.
google avatar

Meghan O.

Yelp
The service was friendly. The breakfast sandwich had a great chipotle sauce on it. Fruit salad was just strawberries and little bits of cantaloupe. But I think this was the best airport Bloody Mary I have had. I was looking for pepper and there wasn't any on my table but then I took a sip and realized I wouldn't need any. Also it seemed like a fairly quiet spot when I was there.

Yelp
Food is terrible prices are hella high ! I just looked at the menu and turned around. I did not waste a dime ! Please stop eating here so they can open up a new shop to eat ! With better prices or better atleast better food! 40$ for a Lobster Roll is crazy ! It better have just gotten out of the ocean if I'm paying 40$!
google avatar

Travis A.

Yelp
If you've got 30 minutes to wait for a crappy $40 personal pizza. This is your spot!

Yelp
This was the only restaurant open in the terminal, so if you want to get a table, make sure to walk all the way down toward the bar area where the servers seat guests. We learned this the hard way and initially waited near the entrance, which caused a bit of unnecessary frustration. We shared the BBQ Sando with chips, and I have to be honest--both the sandwich and the overall experience fell short. The service was disappointingly slow; it took forever to get any refills, and to make matters worse, our food arrived before our drinks, even though we ordered water and a soda. It felt like we were left waiting for ages, with little attention from the staff. Honestly, if you're just looking for a quick sandwich and chips, you might be better off bringing your own or exploring other options. Unfortunately, this visit left a lot to be desired in terms of service and quality, and I probably won't be rushing back.

Yelp
Good some coffee, water, and pastries from the to go side last time I was going through LAX. As with all airport vendors, the prices are too high, But you are a literal captive audience. If I am flying through the terminal in the future, I'll probably get a grab and go sandwich or wrap, as these looked like better options than what was on the plane.

Mike S.

Yelp
$25 for a breakfast sandwich, good news it comes with a parfait. However, they don't tell you they substituted some oily potato chips for the parfait until you ask about the missing parfait. This place is garbage! Potato chips with your breakfast sandwich? Notice the cheese is not melted. Easy to do when the sandwich is cold.

Sharon S.

Yelp
Terrible service, small food portions and expensive. What really pisses me off is they added an automatic 20% gratuity for bills $75 and over. For two people that is like one drink each and sharing a food item. They didn't even give any of us sitting at the bar a heads up. Awful!! Never again!
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
IF I could give it a 0, I would. The service is terrible. Its like they want you to pay to be ignored. Servers are disorganized. I literally watched dirty tables sit there for several minutes. They expected the poor hostess to seat people, clean tables, and serve since the 3 servers couldn't be bothered. I would take a look at your staff asap. They are all over the place, no assigned sections, and no manager present. I left and did not order a thing. Bring your own food and avoid this place at all costs.
google avatar

Teresa A.

Yelp
Customer service lacking. I was getting a little loaf cake and got to the counter and asked if I could get a bagel and cream cheese and the cashier kept telling me my total for the loaf cake. It was like she just wanted to ring me up and get me out of the way. Yet nobody was behind me. I asked again if I could get a bagel with cream cheese and she kept telling me I could tap to pay. I kept repeating myself and she finally got it. She just wanted to talk to her co workers. Absolutely horrible Customer service.

Yelp
The service was good. It was a busy holiday weekend so I can see why some hostess are a bit more on edge. The constant What Tine are you open I'm sure gets annoying I had to wait until the 6am opening,so in the meantime I'm reviewing based of customer service and ambiance. Very clean and spacious. The menu looked good, now let's just check out the taste. This was a convenient spot from my terminal in LAX.

Yelp
I should have been in the air, flying back to DC, but my flight was delayed several hours and I was confronted with the reality that I could not possibly wait to eat until after I landed. So, I made the unfortunate choice to have a meal at Crowns. Now, when going to a new restaurant where you have little to no information about the fare, it's best to get the thing they are known for, and, in this case, it was the tri-tip sandwich. The sandwich was solidly subpar and less tasty than drive-through fast food. The meat had the consistency of shoe leather, and the sauce was employed as a subterfuge to help the diner swallow what I could only assume was a horrible dining choice. Where I took the most issue was the price. In total, my cup of soda, dozen tater tots, and sleeve of bread with a handful of tough, overcooked meat, slathered with sauce was $43 after tip. Look at my pictures, complete with receipt. Does that look like something you'd pay $26 for without the drink and before tax and tip? I had instant regret with my choice and would have given this venue a single star had the waitress not be so exceedingly pleasant. I made no complaint to her, and tipped her fully for the effort, but made a note to describe the overpriced tree bark inside bread they sell at Crowns for $43.

Yelp
So I'm here for a few hours waiting for a flight and I had an excellent Martini and a wonderful Lobster roll. The music was top 40 and great (even heard some Chappel Roan!) . The service was fast- maybe not even ten minutes and I had all my food and drinks. Attentive staff, A+
google avatar

Danielle W.

Yelp
The bbq sandwich was just not good, very dry and the meat tastes like chemicals idk, but it's legit the only option in the entire area.
google avatar

Lo S.

Yelp
I had the best salad ever here (burrata salad) and it was so unexpected. I didn't eat from the restaurant side, but the takeout side. The salad took a minute to come out which was fine, it was so fabulous. So much better than I was expecting. It was expensive but it was actually worth it! Came with awesome bread, beets, like 3 or 4 globes of burrata, good dressing, fabulous bread. Absolutely perfect for the day of travel ahead, filled me up in a semi healthy way. I so appreciated it!!
google avatar

Joe T.

Yelp
Good place to sit and wait for your flight. But the Bfast game is weak. Lots of coffee.

Vish P.

Yelp
Charging $30 for breakfast and not including a simple cup of coffee is unacceptable. Egg patty is offered for $1 at McD vs $30 here. Full rip off

Drew E.

Yelp
$30 "tri-tip" sandwich and I ordered an Amber beer. The beer was as amber as the food was good, and they poured me a light beer. Worst, most overpriced, bad service, place I've ever been to in an airport. And I travel for a living. Music was good tho
google avatar

Janice F.

Yelp
Just ridiculous!!! Stay away the food is terrible, and the service not that great. I got this terrible breakfast sandwich and tea for close to $37. It's takeout and they expect tip ....they serviced the sandwich with awful old fruit
google avatar

Erick I.

Yelp
Price gouging at its finest. $17 for a bland sandwich. $17 for a small salad. $8 for a small parfait. $6 for a bottle of water. Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves for this bullshit. Garbage place owned by garbage people. LAX you all are the worst!!!
google avatar

Ryan D.

Yelp
Airport concession fee!?? It's bad enough that there are no other food/drink options but they want you to pay an additional fee!! Didn't eat here only had a couple of beers ($15 for 20oz beer as expected).
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
We split a mediterranean platter. Veggies were very fresh, nice variety of olives, three whole grape leaves stuffed with rice, something crackers, couple of tablespoons of feta. Washed down with a 5 oz. vodka tonic (20$)! Good service, stingy portions.

Mandy N.

Yelp
There wasn't much of variety, the food was mediocre best, and it was very overpriced.

Susie M.

Yelp
Got the burrata salad with toast and added chicken. Pretty good but yes over priced. Service was nice.
google avatar

Pepe L.

Yelp
Over priced cold breakfast sandwich, my order took longer than anyone else and server was unfriendly .

Maria L.

Yelp
This place is off the chart expensive and I am a seasoned traveler. A regular coffee is $6, ok, but a sandwich is approx $24 a doesn't include a drink or anything. Cold brew coffee is $9, Soda is $5.59, water is $4.99; menu is very limited. Quality is ok, not great. They offer cinnamon rolls, but can't heat them to spread the icing because the oven didn't work. Take my advice and bring something. You only have two choices near gates 46-49, everything else is at least a 10 min walk in each direction.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
Overpriced pirates at LAX. $23.99 for the salad Burrata Crowns was a stack of greens and beets with bread. No dressing but a pile of butter for the bread thrown on top. Extremely disappointing. Then a 3.00 concessions recovery fee. WTF only in California. Tax $4.87. So crappy salad cost me $31.87.
google avatar

Johnny Z.

Yelp
Bad: They were out of sauce for BBQ tri-tip and out of cilantro crema for quesadilla...so ended up getting an Italian sandwich at the take-out section. Wood be great if tgey had all the options in this limited menu available. Good: sandwich was good. Friendly staff. Was able to use two AA $12 food vouchers to cover the cost.

Here To C.

Yelp
Garbage food, insane prices.... Criminal level price gouging in a terminal with no other options...

Achille B.

Yelp
There are a lot of reasons Americans are so fat but surely one is their predilection for cheese on every meal. That is especially true in airports. There are no breakfast options here that don't involve cheese or full fat dairy. Would scrambled eggs or a fruit plate be too much to ask? Toast?
google avatar

Bryanna B.

Yelp
Julissa was so lovely. I forgot to order coffee and she was so sweet about it. Most airport employees would be annoyed. The whole staff in the to go area was really friendly and seemed to communicate efficiently. I saw some pretty difficult passengers who were being a bit difficult and extra. The staff dealt with it with patience and kindness. I got the breakfast chicken sausage sandwich. It was good but not amazing. I wish I could have bought chicken sausage on the side for my kids The food was

Yelp
the food was so bad and it was 14 usd for a 473ml juice and I would not eat there again
google avatar

Joshua C.

Yelp
My food wasn't very good and, as expected, it was overpriced. That said, the servers were great -- friendly and attentive -- and it was nice to be able to sit at a table and enjoy the atmosphere. Mixed experience overall.
google avatar

Kiana G.

Yelp
Airport food is never good but the quesadilla was a safe option and I wasn't mad about it. Marissa is a great server. Wish it was a bit more ambient

Lauren R.

Yelp
BEWARE!! This place was horrible.!!! Do not eat here!!! $172.00 for 4 rubbery plain chicken sandwiches. The food was 7-Eleven quality. Don't understand how they allow this place to sell & serve this quality food

ricky k.

Yelp
Eating at this place was like being assaulted all over again. They charged me $30 for a pre made sandwich, $45 for a beer and a shot and then when I got the check there was an auto 20% gratuity for the bill being over $75. The food was also not very good
google avatar

Robert D.

Yelp
My family and I stopped here before we took a flight to Charlotte, NC, and while we didn't have the highest of expectations, the food was certainly not up to par, in our opinion. The beer/drinks were good - as they should be, but the food was subpar, especially the nachos and quesadilla. The nachos tasted like they were from 7-Eleven - and the pickled onions on top of it were disgusting. The service was friendly - I truly couldn't complain from that regard, but the food alone diluted our otherwise adequate experience. I probably wouldn't come back here again, unfortunately!

Alexander M.

Yelp
My flight was delayed so I ordered a glass of wine and charcuterie board; my bartender was very kind and recommended a Chardonnay with cheese and meats. She was very kind and professional. The wait for the food was fast too. Thank you to Sandy for the recommendation and hospitality, will visit next time I travel!

Avocado R.

Yelp
Steep prices. Mandatory tip at the cash register for self serve food. No place to seat. Bad attitude from the waiters. They know it's the only option for these gates and they take advantage of it. If you can, try to eat somewhere else before you get to this gate.
