Crows Nest

I'm visiting the UK for the first time and was really wanting to have the experience of a proper English pub meal. After stumbling across the Crows Nest I decided to pop in for a lunch and was glad I did. The ambience itself is quite nice with tons of space and has tons of beautiful wood furnishings which I really liked. I believe there's a space that can be rented out but not sure of the price. The food itself is great. I've always wanted to try a steak and ale pie which was a treat. It's incredibley rich with a delicious gravy on the side and paired with mash and mushy peas it was the perfect meal for the weather. It seems that they have quite the alcohol list as well but as it was early on I didn't have any drink but I'd certainly return at night to do so. The staff themselves were pleasant and attentive albeit amused at the excited American haha. All in all I quite enjoyed my first pub experience and very much look forward to the next time I can visit, hopefully to have a pint as well!

Had an amazing experience at The Crows Nest! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the food was absolutely delicious — everything came out perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Our server Ellie was outstanding — friendly, attentive, and made great recommendations that really elevated the meal. You could tell she genuinely cared about making sure we had a great time. Highly recommend this place — can’t wait to come back!

Paulicarus had no idea that this pub close to the Uni also sold the first Student brewed beer. TV's were showing footie so we sat on a small raised mezzanine to the rear. This leads to an outside drinking area. Stu Brew Panic Masters 4.5% Pale Ale was the unique brewery. Pretty good. Food smelt enticing.

Everytime we come to Newcastle we always come to this pub. Also the Newcastle game has always been on which makes the atmosphere really good, but not too loud that we had to shout. Everyone seemed to be friendly

Amazing pub! My wife and I were visiting New Castle. We stumbled apon this pub. The bar tenders were an amazing and friendly bunch. I didn't know what beer to choose. The suggestion for Beak Brewery Imperial Stout was a wonderful suggestion! Also was able to sample a few beers they had on tap. I loved the Flint Eye. The pub grub went beyond our expectations! The Fish and Chips took a bit of time but, Boy... It was worth the wait! The crispy fish and chips with a side of peas was delectable! Especially with the vinegar, and it paired nicely with the beer. No regrets were had here! My wife and I absolutely enjoyed the time we spent here at the Crows Nest. Next time we visit, we will be looking forward to coming back to their establishment! I highly recommend them!

Great pub. Excellent selection of ales, really friendly staff had a bit of banter with me, felt like a smaller local pub which was great. Some outside seating which we made use of on a lovely sunny day. Was very pleasantly surprised with this place and would be more than happy to go back.

Moving across from Singapore to Newcastle was nevertheless a daunting experience. However, the Crows Nest has become a second home. Meeting new friends for the first time we wanted to find somewhere convenient (right across from Haymarket),and somewhere to watch the football. Which resulted in it being the Crows Nest. To our luck they offer Student Discount as well. It has a wholesome environment, as well as a warmth feeling. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly especially when you ask to put a specific football game on. Would highly recommend, especially give the Bacon Cheeseburger a go!

For a Friday night in town, taking the kids to eat here was okay and could be booked in advance. The pub was busy, with what appeared to be a pub quiz going on, and our reserved table wasn't ready, as people had taken over it. The staff quickly got the table ready, but it was over 40 minutes before food was brought to our table. The staff were polite and welcoming, but without music, the overall atmosphere was of loud chatter. The heat near the bar was unbearable and we were pleased to be near the windows where it was cooler. Still, the pub is cosy, despite needing a few repairs to chairs. We ordered a range of dishes and the food was generally good, especially the 'award winning' (according to the menu) steak and ale pie. The burger was tasty and the kids meals were good, but limited. The disappointment was the accompanying veg with the pie (I've never seen such a small amount of mash on a plate) and the small volume of sides with the burger left the plate looking empty (see photos).

No problems in this bar with a good range of beers. Type of crowd varies lots with Uni staff, students, football fans and revellers all making up a mix or not! TV screens in some areas are not the biggest

The Crow's Nest is a large and comfortable pub located in the Haymarket district. Its convenient location and friendly staff mean that it attracts a wide variety of people and is often packed. Situated close to both Newcastle and Northumbria University, students frequent the Crow's Nest for their great value pub meals. Whilst it's traditional pub feel attracts an older generation of regulars. This spacious pub is great for sports fans as it shows all of the football matches and is a pre-match favourite for those visiting St James' Park.
