Cru Catering

Cru catered our wedding and did such an exceptional job. Everything from the food itself to the timing of each course was absolute perfection. We had several wedding guests comment on the flawlessness with which they executed our plated dinner—courses were served on time and warm, which isn't an easy feat with 100+ wedding guests spread out across 15 tables. Every interaction with them in the months leading up to the wedding was professional and easy, and our in-person food tasting sealed the deal that much more. The chef came out and explained the various courses, and the Cru team was so considerate in asking if we wanted any tweaks or changes made to anything. Of course, we barely wanted to change a thing because it was all so delicious! This is a truly exceptional catering company that embodies what Charleston food is all about. You cannot go wrong with them for your wedding or any other event for that matter—they are simply the best!

I can't recommend the whole team at CRU enough. I called them for a quick order -- I planned my father's celebration of life in 4 days and the team at CRU really stepped up. My father was a professional chef and most of my happiest memories with him are around a table with delicious food and drink. It was a no brainer that we wanted to have great food to celebrate him. Lauren took us from start to finish and helped us execute a flawless event. Every guest at my dad's celebration raved about each item we served (angus beef tenderloin, mini tomato pie, crispy prosciutto cup, stuffed mushrooms, yellow curry chicken satay, buttermilk biscuits, fruit, cheesecake bars, blondies and brownies, and non-alcoholic beverages). Lauren covered the set up and tear down with her team, and made the event as stress free as possible. They are communicative, clear, collaborative, and kind. The kitchen team knocked it out of the park, and everyone else delivered on customer service. If you need a caterer in the area.... look no further. CRU is the best!

Wow ! Another amazing experience catering our Super Bowl party. Cru Catering surpassed our high expectations. Convenient ordering, incredible presentation and an out of this world culinary delight. The big crowd pleaser was the dark chocolate covered strawberries…. decorated as miniature footballs 🏈 Thank you for another successful catering experience !

There’s truly no better choice than Cru for your catering need, I mean it! When my husband and I were planning our wedding, great food was one of our top priorities. Cru went above and beyond every expectation. They were professional, kind, and so easy to work with from start to finish. And the food? Absolutely amazing! I’m not exaggerating…almost every guest told us it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had!

We hired Cru as our caterer for our recent wedding and I really can't say enough amazing things about them and our entire experience. Cru's food was probably the star of our whole wedding. I had guests coming up to me all night to tell me how amazing and unique it was or asking for the name of our caterer; we even had people practically chasing down the waiters during cocktail hour to get more appetizers. The catering team on the ground was also professional and kind - they made sure my husband and I had plenty to eat and even brought us drinks and appetizers in our getting ready suite so we didn't have to miss out during cocktail hour. Jessie, our catering manager, was incredible to work with and helped us every step of the way. Her and her team were so accommodating when we wanted to make menu changes or had questions and truly thought of every little detail. If you're planning any event in the area, you need to hire Cru for catering - you will not regret it!!

Cru Catering truly went above and beyond for our wedding. From the very beginning, they took the time to listen to our vision, requests, and priorities and they made everything we wanted happen with ease. The food was absolutely incredible, so many of our guests said it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had (and we agree!). On top of that, the staff was kind, professional, and on top of every detail. We are so thankful to have had Cru as part of our big day. They exceeded every expectation and we truly can’t recommend them enough. Also the tasting was literally so much fun.

The professionalism shown from the initial tasting all the way through the night of the wedding was top notch! They provided a great baseline for lowcountry classics (shrimp & grits, pulled pork, and biscuit bar), but were also very mindful in adding an hors d’oeuvre from the brides hometown of St. Louis. The handmade toasted raviolis were fantastic! If food is important for your wedding I wouldn’t recommend anyone other than Cru Catering!

Let me start by saying I was blown away by this tasting. Everything was brought out perfectly and taste delicious. The passed apps were presented beautifully and all welcomed a new taste. The salad with duck confit was the perfect starter and the beef and fish options for dinner were cooked perfectly. The dessert options were a great touch. I worked with Jessie and Jenna to organize my wedding menu and must've changed the menu 8 times or so and they were amazing throughout the whole process. My wedding isn't until December 2023 so I will update my review with the final result then!

We enjoyed a wonderful and generous Christmas Eve take out from here. Perfectly cooked tenderloin, amazing sauces, gorgeous salad, and creamy sweet potatoes were all highlights. I easily recommend them for bringing a restaurant quality meal home at an affordable price. Great customer service too- we had a question and it was followed up immediately.

I had the pleasure of working with Cru Catering for our company awards ceremony and dinner at Hibernian Hall in May. Jenna and team were great to work with before and during our event and they truly made everything so easy. The staff was professional, on time and had a customer service mentality. The food was delicious and our guests thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend using Cru for any of your catering needs!

While I could address pricing (which was a bit high, but, hey, it's wedding catering), staffing (exceedingly friendly and accommodating), or dish choices (feel free to message me for our menu), I think the most direct review for Cru Catering would have to be this: Aside from the usual congratulations and well-wishes, the most often-heard comment both at and following our wedding reception has been, "OMG, your food was so good!" Which, considering the wedding was between two Hardcore Yelpers and the reception populated with foodie and Yelper friends (including a Community Manager), speaks volumes.

For the first time, in a long time, I left my San Franciscan bubble and fled across the country to visit my best friend. To those of you whom never been- it's nothing like San Fran (though you probably didn't need my help determining that.) That being said, Cru Cafe rivals even some of the best meals I've had in my city by the bay! Days before my arrival, a reservation was made for Saturday evening. Although my friend said this was necessary, there were a few empty tables throughout our meal. Our server was friendly and hospitable, and she certainly added to the wonderful experience. I ordered the Tomato Basil Bisque, and it was DELICIOUS. Rich, creamy, and satisfying! I only wish it came with a mini grilled-cheese sandwich! For my main course, I had the Grilled Basil Shrimp Pasta. Oh. My. God. This was insanely good. That being said, something tells me everything and anything on the menu is sure to tickle your fancy! Great little spot near Market Street! A real gem! I'm sure my best friend is going to kill me for writing such a favorable review- he'd like to keep this place a secret. :)

CRU is THE BEST FOR WEDDINGS. Leading up to the wedding Jenna worked with our event rental to make sure we had sufficient glassware/tables etc as our numbers changed. The food was amazing, the staff was SO NICE. We could not have been more pleased thank you so much to your entire staff! - Andrea and Luke Robertson :)

I had their catering tonight at a special event. I can truthfully say it's the best catered food I've had in several years. We had the beef short ribs, mashed potatoes, a salad, and assorted vegetables. The meat was so tender you could cut it with a fork the mashed potatoes were great and the salad got raves from everyone. their shrimp tacos were the best I've ever eaten. They were barbecued and had selantro and other things. The desserts were OK but somewhat forgettable. But I won't forget the beef anytime soon. Or the salad. I don't know the cost, but I don't think you can beat this place for good food.

Chose Cru first for a rehearsal dinner because they really had good reviews. It's a shame that I'll never know.. been jerked around for 2 months and now have to find someone else. Guess my $1000 rehearsal dinner isn't worth their time.

Terrible customer service! I was getting married in Charleston, and my first two attempts to contact them and set up a tasting were completely ignored. I only continued to contact them because my husband and his family is in the F&B and heard great things about them. By the time they finally got back to me I was flying into Charleston (from Guam) and they told me that they couldn't set up a tasting with such short notice. That's funny maybe if you would have gotten back to me you would have the time. When I told them how unhappy I was and how terrible the customer service has been they offered that we go to their restaurant and they would send a representative. The representative told us(myself and my mother-in-law) what to order, more food then two people would possibly need so I assumed they planned to take care of it them, nope didn't even offer a discount. DO NOT GO HERE THEY OBVIOUSLY DON'T CARE EVEN IF YOU ARE A CUSTOMER WHO IS GOING TO DROP THOUSANDS FOR CATERING SERVICES!!

They catered my wedding in June of 2008 and it's all my wedding guests talk about! We had a sushi station, pasta station and salad station and we opened the food immediately after our ceremony and it was wonderful. We went through 1000 sushi rolls in the first hour!! But the best part of it all was that Cru never even broke a sweat. Our guest throughly enjoyed their delicious food and I couldn't have ask for a better catering director than Jenny, she was so calm, she made me calm..which for a bride is a rare thing. If you're look for delicious food served with class at price that you won't faint over, go with Cru Catering...we could not have been happier.

Hired Cru's - Pit Cru Team for a 75 guest client event. My understanding is it a newer divison focused on casual southern style food. We ordered pulled pork, chicken kabobs, sweet potato caserole and mac and cheese. Outside event. They were great about advising us which foods would do well in a Carolina summer and which foods we should be cautious about. Everyone raved about the food, which was my number one concern. You want your guests to rave! I was very pleased that they showed up on time, were professional, delivered what was on the order, and left few suprises. There was minor glitch, but they were receptive and quickly made it right. I'd use them again!

Jenna and the Cru Catering team are amazing! I'm a wedding planner and I have clients from Detroit getting married in Charleston this May. Although my clients ultimately decided to be married at a venue that provides in-house catering, the Cru team was amazing to work with when we researched our catering options in the area. They were prompt and professional and very sweet and accommodating, listening to my clients' specific requests and making multiple edits to our quote along the way. Although I can't speak for the food (I've heard its to die for!), working with Cru was wonderful, and I'd recommend their team to anyone looking for a unique and classy experience!

We had a tasting with them for our upcomng wedding and they are spectacular. They are creative, accomodating, friendly. The food is special and delicious. I cannot think of one way that they could have done better. I highly recommend them!

This is the place to go for catering....we went with Cru for our wedding and we were so happy. Not only was our menu tasty...but the people there make it such a wonderful experience. I can't say enough about the oyster shooters....the s'mores fire pit...the she crab soup (ridiculously good). If you are going to pay for catering...go with the best in town!

We used Cru for a post-wedding brunch at our home on Kiawah Island today. It was phenomenal. Everyone loved the food, the staff was attentive and on point, and clean-up was thorough. I couldn't ask more from a caterer. Best ever!

perfection is what Erin Guilfoyle provided me for my family reunion/wedding vows renewal on Isle of Palms. The food was terrific and the staff so pleasant. She made it a very special day. Keep on cooking miss Chef Erin!!

CRU - the whole team and every member are rock stars! We had a destination wedding at the Cotton Dock at Boone Hall - so the whole kitchen had to be created, set up and in full operation under a pop up tent in the parking line. The CRU team killed it! Best execution of a caterer i have ever used. From helping with menu selection, tasting lunch of every dish, creating my own family recipes, speciality bar selection and speciality drinks, cocktail hours specialty drink, Full Out Pig Souther Pig Roast with all the sides, Amazing mac and cheese, amazing selection of appetizers, fresh local caught and sustainable pan seared fish, steak and truffle frites, hand passed shucked oysters, specialty small desserts and the wedding cake! the team of chefs and the CRU staff was amazing, accommodating, professional and very responsive to all our requests and criticisms. They were willing to change recipes to accommodate our tastes and desires. CRU is definitely the number on pick for caterer. Hands down a spectacular job!

The best catering business in Charleston. The food for my daughters wedding was very high quality and deliciously prepared. Enough staff to keep things flowing without uncomfortable delays. Would not change a thing.

We love the Cafe and tried the catering for Thanksgiving.....The Mac n Cheese was fabulous, the Turkey and salad, & biscuits were great,,,then it went downhill, the bean casserole was tasteless with lumps of sauce, the sweet potato also had no taste except for the marshmallows.....expected more from the pecan pie....embarrassing when guests are leaving food on there plates....

Cannot even begin to explain how spectacular Cru Catering was for our wedding in April 2011. Emily was fantastic in making sure everything was planned according to our liking. The servers were fabulous and the food was out of this world!
