Yelp
Review for Pinot Camp.
I'm not a wine lover, I just happened to belong to a family of wine lovers and be surrounded by friends who love wine. Therefore, I often find myself in situations where I have to drink wine and a lot of it. Do not take this review as if I'm a connoisseur of wine, but from my perspective, I loved this event.
There were six tables serving six bottles of wine each (except for table six, which served five). For those of you who are good at math, yes this equaled 35 glasses of wine. This seemed very ambitious when I first saw the list, but thanks to slow pour devices that they put on the wine bottles (and that they said you can find on Amazon), it was very doable to try everything without having a headache the next day. They also served a bowl of paella. (The paella was pretty small, so if you go to one of these events, eat beforehand.)
It was very crowded at first (if you know Cru, you know it is on the smaller side), but by 8:30 p.m. people had left and there was tons of space. The event went from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. and I'm surprised people didn't stay the whole time. However, it was a Wednesday night. We got there half an hour late at 7 p.m. and we found that we had to rush through the final table, but we did make it through almost 35 wines (they were out of a couple at table 3 by the time we made it. We did the tables out of order, so table 3 was our second to last table).
Where this event really shines are the people pouring the wines. They are insightful and very personable. Cru Cellars knows how to hire good people. One of them gushed about her coworkers and the owners. I'm currently in the midst of a hiring frenzy for work and it is a lot harder than it seems to find people who fit your culture well. Cru Cellars seems to have mastered this. Five stars for the employees alone.
If I lived closer, I would go to many more of these events. It was such a fun time. The people there all seemed wonderful and my friends and I coveted many trendy outfits. I would highly recommend checking this place, and one of these events, out.
