I've enjoyed great moments here over the years. Cru is always consistent. Outstanding service and exceptional food. The pear and gorgonzola cheese pizza is one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten. It is simply perfection! This restaurant is so well located for any occasion anytime and never disappoints. Patio weather is almost here, and this is a perfect spot for it!

I came with a friend last minute for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised! The server was very attentive and food was great. The goat cheese beignets were a good choice to start and the salmon was perfectly cooked. I wasn’t crazy about the lava cake, but the first two dishes were very good. We paired dinner with a wine flight.

Stumbled upon this place before a concert. Bottle of moscato: $48 It was definitely tasty but not $48 tasty- probably just marked up $$$ which is par for the course. The service and ambiance was nice- I did not feel rushed and the server was gentle with us not knowing ANY wines! Was disappointed the short rib was removed from the menu. The Pork chop special was good. I felt the meat could have been more tender/quality ( I was working way too hard with the steak knife) but it had a crispy breading that was seasoned well and was paired nicely with baked pumpkin. Yum! Chicken francese was good. 7/10 Overall I feel the entrees and other menu options did not WOW me enough to return right away but I definitely enjoyed our dinner experience and will recommend. Bathrooms clean, no toothpicks, pleasant hostess, outdoor patio

Came for happy hour and got the meatballs, calamari, beignets and pear and gorgonzola pizza along with a red and white flight. Our attendant was super nice and knowledgeable. Very cozy spot to hide from wine and great happy hour. Shout-out to the goat cheese beignets with the honey! Delicious!

We met CRU on Easter Day. You can park in the parking lot, it was not that difficult to find an available spot. The place is beautiful, it has a good patio and a inside part so you have the option to decide, you can see a wall with the great selection of wines and champagne that it has, I liked this part. That day I had a set menu: $45 for an appetizer, entree and dessert. The staff was friendly, but I felt like they had very little and the restaurant became full so the service started to not be good at all. I could see that there were only two people working in the kitchen so I must say that the food came out good and hot for the number of people in the place, the food in general was not very good, the lobster risotto was too much butter, the crab cakes were okay, the base was a slice of tomato, this was weird for me and the Key Lime for dessert aww not very good either. In my opinion and if I would go to this place again it would be more like having a drink on the patio, without dinner or anything like that.

Google
The pizza with pear and Gorgonzola was delicious. I really like how well the flavors are balanced. It was nice to eat the truffle pizza. Calamari and shrimp, on the other hand, were too oily. A lovely spot for a romantic evening with a sip of wine.

We went for the Mothers Day Brunch and these guys knocked it out of the park! They were very busy yet. Stayed on top of everything. The service was great and the food delicious. We didn’t even have a wait because we made a reservation. There is additional parking in a nearby parking garage. It is in a pretty busy area, but we were able to find parking with no issues.

Where shall I start! We were here for a gathering so we were able to pick our small bites etc. We worked with Lina and Laura and they were able to answer all of our questions and explain the options clearly. The good was freshly prepared, the variety of wines were a hit, seating was intimate and romantically lite. The packages they off for gathers are truly awesome.

Yelp
We stopped by for a quick brunch with our doggie. Their pizzas and figs are among thr best in town. Extremely sweet waiters who are so friendly and kind to our rescue. We'll be back for sure. Beautiful outdoor sittings too

Yelp
We are beyond impressed with this place. Came here during happy hour 3-6:30pm, their menu is extensive. Food-We ordered Ahi Tartare (came with crispy wonton chips) and Pepperoni Pizza from the happy hour menu, and steamed mussels from the dinner menu. All the dishes tasted amazing, great portion size, you get the quality and quantity. Everything came out really quick as well. Service-that's one thing that stood out the most. We unfortunately had to bring our toddler. They went above and beyond to help us entertain our kid so we could grab some bites and enjoy our experience here. Special thanks to the lady that helped us, she wears glasses and works at the bar area. She made us feel so welcomed and happy. Overall atmosphere is warm and cozy, relaxing and friendly. I love that they offer different options of wine flights, so you can try a bit of everything. If you are an elementary wine drinker like us, I highly recommend the Charming Chardonnays.

Yelp
Everything looks better than it tastes. The worst was probably the beignets. It is a dish that clearly relies on the various sauces.Their Brussel sprouts and salmon and creme brulee were decent. It isn't that it was terrible, but at that price point, you definitely expect better...I wouldn't come here again.

Apryl S.

Yelp
Delicious food and nice Ambiance. Thursday is 50% off champagne bottles. Their HH food prices are very good!

Hollie K.

Yelp
Great food. Mediocre wine list. My champagne flight was flat, but the server quickly replaced them with fresh bottles. Service was slow as there was only one bartender/server in the dining room during 6-7pm. Happy Hour online and menus said until 6:30, but we were verbally told happy hour ends at 5:30.

Yelp
I've been to Cru a few times now (twice for brunch and once for wine/pizza night) and the staff has been amazing each time. They're attentive, welcoming, and informative when it comes to the menu and providing recommendations. They handle little rushes extremely well so don't be discouraged if you see that they're busy - they're rockstars. The food is beyond amazing and the perfect (normal) portion size to enjoy and makes you want to order one of each item on the menu. The wine and cocktails are delicious all around and the staff is well versed in their menu to know what pairs perfectly with their wine list. Whether you're coming in for a girls date or a date with your significant other - this is my forever go-to! Be sure to sign up for their emails so you can stay in the know for every specials night that they offer.

Yelp
Visited on a Saturday and the place was completely empty. It's not exactly clear where the host station is as when I entered I wasn't greated so I went to the bar to ask the employee and she seemed confused. It's dark and presents an intimate setting in the establishment. My patty arrived and I stood up to look for an employee who eventually greeted me and seated us at a table. They have an extensive wine list and offer an option to order flights. The menu is adequate, lots of carbohydrates to counter the libations. I ordered fried calamari as a appetizer. It was mid. Under fried but well seasoned. Then I ordered the truffle pizza which was made to perfection. I would order that again probably to go though lol. All in all, some what mediocre experience...likely wouldn't come back by choice.

Yelp
GOOD SERVICE, GOOD FOOD, GOOD AMBIANCE..everything! just go! Our server was so sweet and made sure everything was right for us. The food...delicious! We had chicken+waffles. Chicken was perfectly crispy!! Steak/Potato hash = D E L I C I O U S! The steak was cooked exactly as requested and everything was seasoned well..did not have to add anything (salt or pepper) to the meal. Pizza was also perfect and taste was amazing. Drinks!!! I mean what do you expect from a wine bar. They have sooo many options of diff flights. Some were sweet, some bland & dry but there is def a drink that will fit each person in your party. Try this place you won't be disappointed.

Brittney T.

Yelp
Great wine, great atmosphere, great service. I have loved every location. This is the perfect spot for a date night or a girls night, which is what my girls and I did tonight.

Yelp
I was looking for places to have a nice, Thanksgiving dinner with a friend. Obviously, a lot of restaurants were closed or were closing early for the holiday but, I perused the menus for the ones that were open for dinner and I came upon Cru. The first thing that caught my eye was the fact that they were offering a three course dinner for $52! The second thing that caught my attention was the fact that they were offering menu items other than traditional Thanksgiving dishes (they also offered traditional Turkey day options but not everyone wants that so it was nice that they had other options). Both the price and the menu offerings looked too good to be true. Some of the other restaurants were charging $200-300 a plate. I quickly reserved a table for two for 7:15pm. The area where the restaurant is, is very cute, it's kinda tucked away and surrounded by other shops and businesses. When I arrived at just about 7:15pm, I was surprised at how many people were there. I somehow thought me and my friend would be the only two people there on Thanksgiving night. But no, the small restaurant was packed--so much so, that we had to wait maybe 10 mins or more to be seated, which was fine. Once we were seated, the service was great! We had a very friendly and spunky and personable waitress who made us laugh and attended to us well the entire evening. The food was SPECTACULAR. You got to choose between several options for your appetizer, main course and dessert. For my appetizer, I chose the pumpkin tortellini. I love pumpkin and I love pasta so, while EVERYTHING looked good, this was a no-brainer for me. It came out hot and steaming which is essential. As soon as I bit into the tortellini I could tell that the pasta was freshly made. The pumpkin filling in the middle was slightly sweet but not overly sweet for a savory dish. I'm not a walnut lover so I was slightly nervous that the sauce had a walnut cream and walnuts in it but it was absolutely delicious. For my main course, I had the salmon and it was perfect! Crisp with a slight crunch on the outside but soft, buttery and tender on the inside. The vegetables that came with the salmon were perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked, tender but with a slight crunch. There was also some crab on top of the salmon and that was delicious as well. CRU specializes in their wine flights. They are reasonably priced and the wine menu explains exactly what the notes of the wines are and the type of food they go best with. I also loved the presentation; when they deliver the flights to your table, it's done with a special wineglass holder that carries three glasses of wine. I thought that was so cool and the wines were delicious. For dessert, I chose the chocolate mousse cake with raspberries and that was pretty good also. The only critiques I have is that the portions were a little small, but then again, it was a three course dinner for $52. I mean, come on, They also provided a basket of bread and the bread was good but I didn't like the butter that came with it--it was infused with citrus and maybe cranberries or something? Hard pass on that. I wish they'd brought on some regular butter as well but the citrusy stuff was the only option unfortunately. Lol. After dinner, the manager?owner? Came over and asked how everything was and we told her how much we enjoyed the meal, the ambiance and service. She was very sweet and happy to hear it. She also let us know about all the events they have including pizza nights, DJ nights, happy hour and lots more which can all be found on their social media pages. I would definitely visit CRU again. Highly recommend it.

Yelp
Great food, great wine selection, lacked big time on service. I wasn't greeted walking in, I wasn't asked about my reservations. Pick a table and sit down. Wine cards wasn't current with descriptions. Great potential, definitely need better service & staffing.

Darlene T.

Yelp
This a great little wine bar that you can kick back and relax. There is outdoor seating as well as a bar and tables. The staff is friendly and many of them have been employed there for a while so the are great with service and recommendations . Laura the manager is a great team leader and makes everyone feel welcome. They have a good selection of food and often have specials. Great place for dates, and solo if you just want to chill.I have seen this place evolve and my ratings have increased from a 3 to a 5 star. Thanks to Laura and the changes she has made.

Yelp
I recently visited on a Saturday afternoon and sat on their patio. Service was top notch! Our waitress was knowledgeable and recommended options based on our preferences. We started with the Sauvignon Blanc flight and then finished with a glass of cloudy bay Pinot noir, which was great. I always enjoy my visits to Cru!

Darren N.

Yelp
We came around 9pm on a Saturday and to our surprise, there was no wait! We were the only party to sit indoors, there were 4 or 5 other parties sitting outside. The inside had moody lighting and soft jazz music playing. My friend and I ordered the wagyu meatballs and black truffle pizza to share. The meatballs were really savory and the sauce was addicting while all being on the crunchy piece of toast. The pizza was also very delicious with a strong taste of truffle. The crust wasn't too doughy yet it was crunchy just how I liked it. While we were conversing, our waitresses would sometimes join in our conversations and they were super welcoming and friendly!

Tyler H.

Yelp
Stopped in just to have some wine and sat at the end of the bar. It was around 2:30 PM on a Saturday and it was pretty quiet. The bartender was super friendly and was quick to see when we were ready for another glass of wine. Sat around for for maybe an hour and a half and enjoyed the atmosphere. Nice place to stop in and catch a wine buzz before some shopping. (As long as you're not driving.)

Yelp
I had to create a yelp account just to explain the POOR quality of food. I'm not joking when I say this was the worst restaurant food I've ever eaten in my life. The bread at the start is super stale. The ravioli was FROZEN, like this is not an exaggeration, it was actually straight from a refrigerator, which ALSO means that the food isn't fresh. It felt like they just microwaved it. We asked for them to redo it and they thankfully did but the new one had this sour aftertaste. The lobster was also not fresh at all. Our next course (in this mandatory 4 course Valentine's Day special) was the "main course" which was lamb chops and scallops. The lamb chops were only seasoned with salt and it was literally saltier than Galveston waters. My little brother who is 5 could make better mashed potatoes. Their mashed potatoes are straight up replicable using Target bought microwaveable mashed potatoes. Lastly, the crème bru lee was atrocious. Look, tldr, I don't have high standards for food. I'm just a normal guy looking for some decent food on Valentine's Day. But god damn did this place's food suck. And the fact that it was 70 dollars per person for a 4 course meal was 4 courses of straight garbage. I beg you to read this review in its entirety. I also haven't mentioned that we both got food poisoning after eating here. Again, I created a yelp account just to warn potential food seekers. Have a good day.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
This is a wonderful spot to enjoy a wine flight and a share everything! From the Fondu, Ahi Tartare, as well as Tiger Shrimp Scampi over a bed of risotto to the Por, it all finished out a really casual yet delicious and well prepared light meal. We will for sure be back to try the Black Truffle Pizza and the Pear and Gorgonzola Pizza.

Yelp
I brought my friend here for her birthday brunch and at first it was fine. Our server was very nice and accommodating and we ordered our food and drinks, got our food and drinks, everything was good. The service started to suck when other customers started coming in. I really liked their avocado toast and wanted to order another one since we had finished our appetizers. Our server was busy bartending (since she was the only one working, idk why there was only one person working in the dining area) so we had to go to her to place another order. We were slowly sipping on our drinks and chatting, then realized we were supposed to get more food! By then we had finished our drinks and honestly didn't even want the food anymore since the service was so slow (the kitchen, not the server). We finally got our food and noticed another person showed up to work. I guess they were short staffed or maybe someone or a few people didn't show up for work. Anyway I was like fine since our food finally came let me enjoy my second avocado toast, only this time the toast was WAY TOO HARD and even made the roof of my mouth bleed! Somehow the kitchen made the first avocado toast good (probably because we were the only customers at the time) but the second one was over toasted. I don't know if there was a manager at the restaurant or if the second person that came in was the manager but they did not have enough people working and they weren't even busy.

Darren J.

Yelp
On Sunday they had this wine crawl for brunch and I got to say that it was the best experience I've ever seen. I'd invited the most beautiful woman in the world Mariah Brown (my best friend and a woman that really has captured my heart) because I saw the ad on Google search. Hailey and Symone were amazing hosts and the entire restaurant for brunch is amazing. I cannot wait to go again soon with my queen and the rest of all of our friends.

Kruti G.

Yelp
We had a 730 reservation from OpenTable and weren't seated until and till 745. We came with someone who was pregnant and also starving they didn't serve us any water or silverware or any menus until we we got up and went to the bar and asked. The server did apologize and give us a complimentary champagne. The goat cheese beignets were very unique and very filling good enough for four people. I am a vegetarian and I got the black truffle and Margherita pizza. The black truffle pizza was very good. I'm giving this place three stars because I feel like there are many options to choose from and the area and the food is just mediocre for a vegetarian. The food service was not good.

Mike T.

Yelp
This place is next level, both as a wine bar and a place I call home away from home. That's because the staff here really do all they can to ensure a lovely dine & wine experience. Brandon and Laura in particular have become my closest homies due to the welcoming hospitality and great taste in recommendations with delightful food options (the truffle fondue is out of this world! at first I thought it was just fancy queso) And the entrance kinda feels like you're pulling into the Aria on the Vegas strip

Jordan S.

Yelp
I love a good wine bar, especially ones who serve good food. Their wine selection is great. We had a few flights and also some different pizzas and wontons. It's really a nice date spot but the bar set up is nice for a solo drop in as well.

Roc V.

Yelp
I visited Cru for Valentines. It was really nice. The service was great. This is a cute and cozy date night spot.

Richard M.

Yelp
Service left a bit to be desired. We ordered three wine flights and two of them were incorrect. The waitress argued over the first mistake then apologized and brought the correct wine but when it happened a second time we just gave up on her. Food was pretty good but took around 40 minutes to come out with only two other tables being seated at the time. For wine, go somewhere else. For food, just get it to go.

Nnenna A.

Yelp
This us actually one of my favorite restaurants in Houston. It's a wine bar, however the food is absolutely delicious! The staff is super friendly and the service is amazing! Our waiter Harry did a fantastic job with his service and menu knowledge. He suggested the Idaho rainbow trout. I had no regrets picking that dish at all! I usually snap a pic of my food, however I ate too quickly . They did bring me a side of truffle potato gratin which was absolutely wonderful of them because it's usually served with the Hanger Steak. They also brought us a side of Brussels sprouts which were delicious. Like I said before, this place is one of my favorites and I'll definitely recommend!

Tanveer S.

Yelp
Good date night spot. Service was very good despite only having 3 people working. Food was ok the cheese fondue was very good but the pizzas very on the saltier side. Wine recemondations we're really good.

Adrian Z.

Yelp
Went on a Thursday night, plenty of table available when we arrived. Thursday's are apparently half off champStaff was very friendly and quick. Had never heard about this place, so went in with no expectations. Ordered the Margherita pizza, which I loved. It wasn't heavy, and tasted delicious. Ate the whole thing alone (don't judge me). Also ordered the Meatballs for appetizers, while the sauce was very good the meatball itself was kind of bland. For drinks I ordered a tasting of Bubbles, they have several options for tastings (3 glasses per) and you can also order individual wine/champagne. My set was really good, even found a new favorite champagne. Price for the flights I thought were very decent. Restroom: while the place itself isn't huge only having one bathroom per gender can be tricky. I tried to use the bathroom for a while but every time someone was using it. Had to wait to get home. Overall I'll definitely be back it's a great place for a date or a night out with friends. I will say they do push "Girls Night Out" on Thursday, for a group of guys we did think that was a bit much, no love for us.

Daria B.

Yelp
Been here several times but never left a review. Cute little spot for date night. Theres convenient garage parking if you can't snag a spot out front. Great selections on wine and $3 off flights during happy hour.

Bill R.

Yelp
Susan was the best bartender she recommended the Allen Brothers Filet Mignon and it was the best thing I have ever eaten

Michae A.

Yelp
Love this place. They have amazing wine for a great price. The customer service is on point, and I appreciate how during a boil notice they don't charge you for bottled water :) ( it's the little things in life) Favorite wine: Green and red Zinfandel

Janus R.

Yelp
Lovely and unique atmosphere. Very comfortable seating at the bar. Cute interior with a long wall of wine sliding library ladder. Cool to see staff working in the space. The vibe was lively and fun, something you don't always see at a wine bar. But they're so much more than just a bar. Service was sincere, kind and our server was so sweet. She took time to walk us through their wine menu, which was extensive. A female manager (owner?) helped us pick out wine for our group. Shared some small plates with friends but I could easily return and dine solo. There was something for everyone both on the food and wine menu. And staff seemed really enthusiastic to talk about food, and I can see why! We tried the server's suggestions on must try/signature dishes and all were so good. We found our new, favorite happy hour spot.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
The grilled cheese was pretty good, the truffle oil that accommodated the bread was amazing. Cup of tomato basil soup that comes along with the sandwich was perfect, along with a side of fresh grapes.

Nathan P.

Yelp
I love the food, service, and drinks! Their flights are the way to go since it's closely priced to the wine by the glass. I was immediately greeted when I walked in. This is perfect for a chill and dim-lit vibe. The food fills you up and I enjoyed the lamb lollipops the most. The meatballs were also spot-on!

Chase F.

Yelp
I love this place! A really cute wine bar. I had the tomato soup and grilled cheese and it was GREAT!!! I love the different flights they have as well. The service is great and accommodating. I can't wait to visit again!

Teresa F.

Yelp
I will start this by saying I'm a total newbie when it comes to wine, and so is my friend. My friend wanted to celebrate her birthday in a different way so we decided to try something new. After reading the reviews here I was sold. First of all, WINE FLIGHTS. They're genius. It gave us a chance to try multiple kinds of wine without getting stuck with something we wouldn't like. We asked our servers for their opinions on which to try, and we were not disappointed. The flights were very reasonably priced, and I can't wait to work my way down this list. Next. The food. Technically we only ordered an appetizer and a pizza, but we were truly surprised by how delicious everything was. We ordered the Lobster and Shrimp Potstickers and the Butcher pizza. The potsickers were so good and the sauce was too. The pizza stole the show though. The taste was to die for. It had so much flavor and the crust was great. I'd literally go back just for the pizza. My friend wasn't hungry, yet after her first bite she ended up eating half of my pizza. Overall we REALLY enjoyed our visit. My only complaint was they closed at 9pm during the week. The service was great. The food was delicious and the wine was too. Cannot wait to visit for brunch!

Austin M.

Yelp
We have been to Cru a few times now and have really enjoyed each of our experiences. When the weather is nice, there is a nice patio to enjoy your wine or meal. Both the wine and food menu allow plenty of options, so even the picky will enjoy! The service has been great each time for us. We really enjoy the wine flights so we can try multiple varieties.

Caylan J.

Yelp
A friend and I stopped by here for a quick drink after a workout. Loved the atmosphere and the place is very nice, but the waitress seemed to annoyed as soon as we sat down. Maybe we were undressed as we had just come from yoga? Surely others in the area have stopped by after a workout or a spa session? We made the best of it and still had a nice chat and enjoyed our drinks. I'd stop by again if I was in the area, because it's a lovely spot. Wanted to try some of the food, but the attitude was so off putting we felt like she wanted us to leave :/

Natalie H.

Yelp
Excellent! Every. Single. Time. Great service and menu offerings. Pizzas are our favorites. Exceptional wine list - one of our favorites in Houston.

Elisabeth H.

Yelp
Walking into Crú we were so excited to see what they had in store. Their restaurant is elegant and the back wall is covered in wine bottles- the perfect set up when you're craving a good glass of wine. We were greeted and seated by Laura, she was very attentive. We ordered the Premier Cru board and it was delicious. We added the Humboldt Fig goat cheese to our board. Typically I am not a fan of goat cheese and I swear I ate the whole thing of goat cheese. It was amazing. I don't understand the pickled vegetables on the board, they took up space and were very bland, almost like they were canned. Their bread was baked to perfection, it came out nice and warm as well as coated with butter and a hint of garlic. We decided to do a flight, they have plenty of options for both white and red wines. It was nice to get to try multiple wines. We ordered two plates from the taste and share menu: wagyu meatballs and fig & Gorgonzola bruschetta. The wagyu meatballs were a little dry and the tomato sauce wasn't flavored like I was hoping for from this kind of restaurant. The bread was the best part! I was excited to try the fig & Gorgonzola bruschetta but we were completely let down. It is served cold, I think it would have tasted incredibly better had it been served warm. They put way too much fig compared to the portion of bread, it was overwhelming. It was topped with balsamic vinegar, it could've used some more to help balance the flavors. We had some issues trying to get the attention of our waitress. We were one of three couples and we was not very attentive to us and the other table as she was taking the whole time to the couple at the bar. We had to wave her down to get her attention. Lastly, we thought we would end our dinner with a dessert, we chose the molten chocolate lava cake. When the dessert arrived, it was just a small serving of cake, confused we broke into it hoping to find the molten lava chocolaty goodness. Nothing. We told our waitress and she took it back to the kitchen for us. She cane out with a brand new one that was covered in chocolate. It was a little lumpy as if it was scraped from the bottom of the pot. We broke into it and again, no chocolate but we ate it anyway. We were still not fully impressed with the dessert we received. We had been done with our dessert for a while and were waiting for our waitress to bring us our check. It took her 10 minutes to come over to us and ask if we were finished and ready for the check. She was not the most attentive waitress. Considering the price, the food was not up to our expectations. No

Yelp
I stopped by Crue Food & Wine Bar for happy hour on a weekday. Cru is located in the same trendy shopping center as Pondicheri, Eddie V's, and a bunch of other restaurants and stores. They have a complimentary covered parking garage. Cru has an extensive wine selection and a pretty awesome happy hour menu. I ordered the goat cheese beignets and the ahi tuna appetizers off of the happy hour menu and the grilled cheese off of the regular menu. We also shared a bottle of wine. Goat cheese beignets (5/5): These savory beignets were awesome! They were drizzled with honey and I love the creativity of this dish. My favorite part of the meal, hands-down. Ahi tuna (3/5): Sliced cubes of ahi tuna served on wonton chips with avocado and a couple of other accompaniments. They lacked a little flavor and it's tough for me to explain why but this was an average appetizer in my book. Grilled cheese (3/5): The grilled cheese came with a side of tomato basil soup which is a match made in heaven. They even added some grapes on the side which was an interesting touch. Made for a nice sweet and savory combo. The grilled cheese had a bit of a weird taste. I'm not sure if it was the bread or the cheese but one of the two had some flavor that I wasn't a fan of. Made this an average dish in my book too. Service was solid and the ambiance is nice. I went with my dad but it makes for a casual date spot with a great wine selection.

Yelp
Beautiful venue, friendly staff and great wine flights. The killer cab flight was my favorite! Happy hour last until 6:30 & includes Flights and Food. I ordered the Bruschetta, it was fresh and flavorful!

Yelp
This place has been nothing but a disappointment. I often pass it by on the way to Eddie V's and there is usually a bustling crowd on the patio, so it always peaked my interest. When they held a "Veuve Clicquot Summer Patio Party," I thought that it would be the perfect chance to give them a try. The event was a three glass tasting of Veuve, paired with chef curated small plates. As VC is my favorite champagne, I decided to get a couple of tickets for myself and a friend. We were super excited to try the new spot, and were super let down immediately upon entry. Our reservation was at 6:30 and we arrived around 6:25. I gave the short little dark haired lady my name and she looked up our reservation in her iPad, and said "I marked you as a no show." I laughed and said, "yet, here we are." She claimed that our reservation was at 5:30 and our table had been given away. I explained that I would never have made such an early reservation, as my friend does not get off from work until 6pm. It would have been illogical on my part to book at 5:30. I explained that I had no tangible evidence to prove my 6:30 seating because the reservations for this event we're call-in only. You could not reserve this particular event through a technological medium such as open table. She rolled her eyes and said "well I can seat you in the lounge." Mind you, this is a "patio party" and the "lounge" consists of one sofa and two chairs in the back of the restaurant nearest the restroom. For the sake of just trying to salvage the evening, we agreed to lounge seating and thanked her for allowing us to keep our reservation. We sat aimlessly in "the lounge" for about 15 minutes until the bartender had to come from behind the bar to ask if we were there for the tasting. We had not been given menus or water or anything. It may have looked like we were just sitting on the couch waiting to go to the restroom, so I don't blame anyone really. The "tasting" was rushed. Each glass was filled about 10-12 minutes before the plate was brought out. The "chef curated small plates" were reminiscent of those pre-COVID CostCo samples, but with less flavor. The poor bartender had to act as our waiter while taking care of the entire bar. He was extremely inattentive, but with good reason. I don't blame him. We ordered the lamb appetizer and a red wine flight because we saw another table receive their flight in a cute little wine carrier and wanted the same experience. We told the bartender that we wanted exactly what that table ordered. He brought out three wine glasses and said "We are out of the carriers. Here's your wine." My goodness! That information would have been helpful before hand, as we would have just opted for a bottle instead. As multiple tables opened up, we asked the little short lady if we could be moved, and she said "no" without reason or explanation. It was just a poorly run "event" without much thought to the food or service. It seemed as though other tables were having a nice experience, but I can only speak for myself, and it was not a positive experience. Fast forward about two weeks later, I decided to give them a second chance because the event could have been an isolated negative incident. I wanted to give them a proper chance on a normal night. It was a Saturday evening and my sister and I decided to come in before our Eddie V's dinner. Aside from us, there were a total of three patrons on the inside. There were four front of house staff members, the bartender, and three server ladies. Some young lady greeted and seated us immediately. She was a sweet girl but very inattentive. My sister and I each ordered a glass of Veuve which she brought out quickly, but then left for a very long time. We waited for almost 20 minutes to order a little appetizer and ended up having to flag her down. After our food was brought to us, again no one came to see about bringing us another glass of champagne or checking on us at all. By this point, we were just ready to leave. My sister had to walk to the bar to ask the bartender to give us the check. We still left a generous tip, hoping that they were just having another bad day. However, we will not be back. For the sake of transparency, I must admit that it's a swanky little spot and the chill atmosphere is a nice pre or post dinner stop. The wine flights are such a cute idea and come out in a little carrier that's cute for Instagram photos. The decor is lovely and the lamb appetizer was pretty good. Food: 1/5 The food from the event was like something that comes from a deep freezer. Menu food was okay, but chick fi la would have been more satisfying. Service: 0/5 I assume that I could get better service at that Turkey Leg Hut place everyone talks about. Ambience: 2/5 Nice little date night spot with swanky vibes. Location: 5/5 Being walking distance to Eddie V's so you head there for a REAL dining experience is a plus!

Yelp
We went during brunch and sampled items off the brunch menu. We ordered a carafe of blood peach Bellini. It was delicious and sweet and tangy. The restaurant was fairly empty at the time we went. Service was great and our server was attentive. Food was delicious! We particularly enjoyed the margherita pizza and the goat cheese beignets! They informed us that they hold events throughout the week (e.g, wine tasting, 50% champagne night) so we are excited to come back and try those.

Yelp
Came here for a Friday night dinner. We were immediately seated in the back of this simple yet elegant restaurant. My dining parter and I decided to get a few apps to share - went with a cheese board, goat cheese beignets, lobster dumplings, and frito misto. My favorite was the croquette dish, was I found to be very unique, flavorful, and rich.

Yelp
We live directly across the street and since it has been taken over by new ownership they close when they feel it is necessary. Tonight we went in an hour before closing wanting to purchase a bottle of wine and relax. Upon entering I was quickly told they were no longer serving! This is the second time this has happened. That is perfectly fine. We have since returned home and now sipping probably a much better red wine that your bar could provide for us!

Yelp
The Goat Cheese Beignet's were Delightful!!! The pizza, however, was subpar. The service was AMAZING! Flights are necessary here. We will femininely visit again!

Yelp
After an unhappy "Happy Hour" experience at Eddie V's, we walked down to CRU to check them out. Great move on our part!! Much better prices on wine by the bottle and glass, during and after "Happy Hour". We tried everything on the Happy Hour appetizer, yep all 7! Everything was outstanding; my favorites were the Fritto Mist, Goat Cheese Beignets, and Crispy Arancini. Calamari was small circles lightly dusted and fried, tender and moist. Did have to order 2 more Goat Cheese Beignets, so light and delicate you could eat just one!! I didn't care for the mussels; small, not much flavor and the both they were cooked in didn't have any flavor as well. Service was extraordinary, the manager and waiter were always close by and attentive. Be cautious, the address shows to be 2800 Kirby, Suite B-130, but the wine bar is not facing Kirby, it's actually on a street that runs parallel to Kirby behind the 2800 Kirby address. You won't just pass by, you'll need to be looking for the bar.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of Crú. It's one of my favorite date places because you can always get a table but it's always relatively full. Tonight I felt like something quiet so a girlfriend and I could catch up without it being too loud. So cru was the perfect choice. Lots of people don't seem to know it's a full restaurant and the food is quite good. I love their fish and fresh salads. That being said, tonight was pizza night. On Mondays, you get a free pizza with the purchase of any wine bottle. Most bottles star around $40 but they have a great selection. My favorite is a red blend called Saved that I tried on one of their flights once. It's $52 a bottle. We had a decadent 5 cheese pizza with truffle oil. It was delicious. Service tonight was fine but not as attentive as usual. I didn't see any of my regular servers tonight, but it was a Monday after all. Water service was exceptional. Also there's a good happy hour if you can can there between 4:30-6:30 pm. Discounts on drinks and tasty appetizers.

Yelp
Tried Cru on a whim. Was trying to go to a steakhouse nearby that was actually closed and I had no idea. The wine selection was wonderful, food was delicious, and our waiter was on top of his game. Will for sure be back.
