My partner and I started our Valentine's Day weekend here last Friday and it was fantastic! CRU is a cozy, quaint wine bar that features an amazing selection of wine by the glass, bottle and flights. They also offer a solid selection of appetizers and entrees. We made reservations for 9pm and I'm glad we did because when we arrived, the place was pretty full. Also, we weren't sure if we were at the right entrance because the main door is somewhat off to the side of the bar. However, once inside, we were met by an extremely pleasant young man who took us to our table; booth seats on one side and standard seats on the other. The place is pretty small which I like but be prepared to be seated closely to other tables.
A few moments later our waitress arrived. She was warm, friendly and very informative. We started with Wagyu Meatballs and the Charcuterie board. The meatballs were excellent..topped with just the right amount of sauce and accompanied with crispy rustic bread. The Charcuterie was the perfect blend of mild and savory. I especially enjoyed the manchego cheese. For sipping, we both started with Flight No5 which was a flight of bubbly. JCB No 69 Brit Rose is a winner! I then tried Flight No3. As a fan of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, Whitehaven is always great. But it was good to try Sauvignon Blanc's from other regions; Trinchero is fantastic! After our amazing apps and flights, we were actually pretty full and decided against dinner. However, we did want a little something sweet so we opted for a piece of the Molten Chocolate Lava Cake. It was extremely rich and dark. Maybe a bit too rich for me since I'm not really a dessert person. But all in all, still pretty tasty with the fresh whipped cream and raspberry sauce.
We really enjoyed everything from the staff to the ambiance to the food. I think we found a new favorite and well definitely be back!
