Ugh, so torn about this place. I have frequented this place several times now. There's been times that have been rather decent, others, I'm like WTH just happened?
This last experience was one of those WTH just happened experiences. My wife and I came in here fairly recently and ordered the fish and chips basket and the double bacon cheeseburger combo with the upgraded crinkle cut fries along with a side order of crinkle cut fries and paid almost $30 with tip.
During this visit, we showed up between 8 and 8:30pm and the place was a little packed, however, did manage to find a booth that I cleaned myself at the front of the diner near the counter. It took a little while to get our food and when we did, everything came except the side order of crinkle fries which I thought was odd. Shouldn't the whole order come in at once? I asked whom I believe was the manager and/or the owner, he said they are coming up. OK. So, we ate our food and the fries still hadn't shown up. So, just kept waiting...been here for 35-40 mins at this point.
During the wait, I tried a bite of my wife's fish and......wow, I thought this is really suspect! I can't even explain the flavor, really, other than it was possibly freezer burnt at one point and....weirdly enough it had "pull". I've never ate a piece of deep fried fish that had any kind of "pull" to it. But my wife didn't seem to mind it.
Now, finally, got the side order of crinkle fries and instantly regretted the order and the wait. The fries literally taste like they came out of an oven and not the fryer. Completely under-cooked without the cold spots. I can see why because during our visit there was a gentleman I overheard (I believe, a regular) ordered just a side order of fries and specifically requested to make them well done. Obviously, there must have been a reason for that, I'm thinking?
I mean, like I said, this place can serve up some decent food and the prices are reasonable IF it's done right. This places' service, time management, and quality definitely tanks after a certain number of people show up to eat here at once. I do realize that the manager/owner is trying to keep everyone happy through his idea of prioritization of serving but it doesn't work when it's at the sacrifice of poor quality. Everyone is spending time/money and it shouldn't matter if a person is buying one milkshake or 5 combo baskets. It should equally be the same....but that's only my opinion.
For me, for the times I've been here....it's really more of like a 2.5. Depending on how big of an eater you are, I wouldn't recommend coming here with a ravenous appetite. The burgers here are rather thin (hence, I order double burgers) and you may walk out still a little hungry. Also, another observation is, you may not be able to order some menu items because they tend to run out of inventory. You are probably safe ordering burgers. The first time we came here they ran out of French Dip and this last time ran out of fish shortly after my wife ordered it. If you like dipping your fries in sauces other than the usual ketchup, prepare to pay an extra surcharge for it as well.
